We always recieve excellent dinner (and sake) recommendations from the staff, and Yumi. And enjoy the beautiful view. This place is a neighborhood gem!

Great fresh sushi in an awsome location on a peaceful lake. Attentive service and had sashimi dinner and they had very large portions.

Our go-to sushi spot! Yama Sushi & Grill has been our favorite for years — consistently fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented sushi. The service is always warm and welcoming, and the staff goes above and beyond to make you feel taken care of. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, perfect for anything from a casual dinner to a special night out. We’ve tried a lot of sushi places, but we always end up coming back here. Highly recommend the sashimi roll and specialty rolls!

This place really impressed me. The sushi was incredibly fresh, and you could tell the fish quality was high from the first bite. The rolls were creative without being overwhelming, and the balance of flavors was spot on!

This is hands down my favorite sushi place around! The food is always fresh, the atmosphere is awesome (that lake view on the patio is next level), prices are great, staff has excellent customer service but the ultimate topping on the cake is the owner, Don. He is so sweet and kind and always makes a point of visiting our table to say hello and check on us. You don’t find that level of service in most places these days and it really sets them apart. I will be a repeat customer for life!

We love Yama Sushi, they have the whole package. First, their sushi is fresh and tasty. Second, their place is comfortable and has good vibes. The restaurant is right on the lake side, so it has very good lake view. The service is good too, and the staff are friendly. Overall, we highly recommend this place.

Weekends get busy. So arrive early if you want a table facing the lake. Service was good. Miso is extra.

This has been one of the best sushi experiences I’ve had in a very long time. The service the dishes and the staff were delightful. Cynthia took the absolute best care of us recommending some of our most favorite dishes to come back for. Love this and loved Cynthia!

This restaurant serves really good and unique california rolls and sushi in a setting thats hard to beat. Sitting on the partio, overlooking Lake Mission Viejo, its easy to let the day recede into the background. And the draft, cold Asahi beer helps as well. This restaurant, hidden at the back of a small shopping center off Margeurite Parkway has been around a long time. It has survived on good food and a reasonable price and the word of mouth of its fans. We are particular fans of the Baked Langosti roll. It is a delightful merge of flavers and tender lagosti that is just the perfect combination of everything. While we had been away for 7 years and a pandemic, we were delighed to find it still on the menu. Truthfully, the restaurant is a bit old and tired, but the food still seems fresh and it just delights. We had lived just blocks from it and not tried it. It is in the elbow of the center, and the graphics on the windows are a bit off-putting, but oh once we tried it, we were regulars. We found the waitstaff to be friendly and efficient. They can suggest something if you are unsure of what to eat. They recommended the Green Tea Ice Cream to us, and wow were we delighted. On a nice evening you can watch the sail boat races on the lake from the large patio as a extra added attraction. Try it.

Its a shame the view outside is nice but the inside is very dated and simple. The staff is extremely nice but short staffed for dinner, had to wait 5-10 min to get someone’s attention for container and check. Food is okay, way too much sauce on shishito peppers (gave me credit) and baked salmon. Broth in udon soups are nice. I will try again and update

Good rolls and tuna appetizer but we did not like the dessert (fried ice cream) and this place is overpriced. Light lunch for 3 was 160 dollars. Service was very slow and indifferent. I was waiting for my water forever. The view is nice but you sit like in a plastic bubble lol

We had to order a new set of things, and by this point our little kids were hungry, so we asked for a complementary appetizer to make up for the wait and confusion, and keep the kids occupied. The chef refused. More than an hour after we sat down, we finally got food. Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing, the udon was basically a bowl of nothing but noodles; the bulgogi bowl was such a let down! - see pic. We have the same bowl at home, and our makeshift bulgogi at home is so much better than this version. Yes, beautiful view, but a chef and server who couldn’t care less. Never again!
