The only restaurant in the small village of Morterone, it deserves top marks in every way. Welcoming like the old-fashioned village trattorias, it enjoys a beautiful location. We ate under a portico, welcomed by two very kind ladies. We chose a platter of local cold cuts and cheeses, very good and plentiful. And to finish, two plates of buckwheat tagliolini with porcini mushrooms and bresaola. These were also excellent and plentiful! Water, a quart of red wine, and finally coffee! The bill was very fair, €46.70. Considering that to get to Morterone you have to drive about 17 km of hairpin bends on a road that is not exactly easy, I would have expected the bill to be appropriate for the difficulty of obtaining supplies, but instead it was not. Well done! We will definitely be back because the place is worth it!
A rustic trattoria reached via a winding, not-so-safe road. However, the food and the view make it worthwhile. We shared a platter of cheeses and delicious cured meats, accompanied by caramelized onions that were divine. Then we moved on to roast pork and beef bites, accompanied by polenta. Both were delicious. Finally, quite full from lunch, we shared an apple pie that tasted homemade. So, in the end, everything was perfect.
An excellent trattoria where you can enjoy lunch with delicious traditional dishes and generous portions. The restaurant is decorated like a real trattoria, unlike many restaurants that pass themselves off as trattorias/ostetia. It's a shame the prices aren't exactly cheap, but they're still in line with the quality of the food served. All this in a beautiful valley at the base of Mount Resegone, in Italy's smallest municipality. Be careful during the winter months of the long, winding road, especially if there's snow or ice.

Locale caratteristico di montagna, il menù di ferragosto era buono, soprattutto le pappardelle con grano saraceno con porcini e bresaola. Conduzione familiare, persone molto gentili e disponibili. Complimenti.
This trattoria is practically the only place to eat in the municipality of Morterone, the smallest in Italy, accessible from Lecco via the only existing road, Provincial Road 63. The restaurant is located directly on the provincial road. There are about ten free street parking spaces nearby. The restaurant is medium-large, simple but welcoming, with paper placemats and napkins. The tables are partly outdoors, sheltered by the roadside, and partly inside. It has a simple menu with a couple of appetizers, a couple of first courses, a couple of second courses, and homemade desserts. The quality of the cuisine is excellent, and the presentation of the plates is also meticulous, with just the right size. There were two of us for lunch, and we enjoyed: the local cheese platter and artisanal jam, the beetroot risotto with Taleggio cream, the tagliatelle with mushrooms and speck, the veal morsels with polenta and mushrooms, sparkling white wine by the glass, and a fig jam tart. Everything was delicious. It also serves as a bar. The staff was courteous, attentive, and fast. The prices were excellent. I always base the average price on individual dishes and not on the total bill, as many do. The total bill is influenced by how hungry you are at the time, the number of dishes, and how many people are sharing. Given the high demand, reservations are recommended. Highly recommended.
A traditional trattoria with large indoor and outdoor tables. The food was good and the portions were quite generous. The service was quick and friendly. The prices were fair, and overall I had a good experience. The desserts were perhaps a little subdued, but acceptable. If I were in the area and hungry, I'd definitely stop by.
It is not usual for man, as he wanders the world, to rise with a firm spirit to seek, in a single dish, the transfiguration of the senses, nor to expect a fruit of the earth to speak to the soul as a divine song would. Yet, it happened. I set out from the maritime city of Genoa, on a journey that seemed to me, on the surface, nothing more than an earthly journey; but it soon turned into a pilgrimage of the intellect and taste, toward a place called Morterone, hidden among the vertebrae of upper Lombardy, where—like a sacred tabernacle—the Trattoria de' Cacciatori lies hidden. There, I was as if transported out of mortal time: for the very air seemed suspended, and the humble house, supported by ancient beams and the grave silence of authentic things, received me not as a pilgrim, but as a wayfarer of the soul. Oh table! Oh place of mysteries! Not food, but a sign was offered to me: a risotto, purple with blueberries, which, upon reaching me, seemed to speak, even before it was tasted. And the woman, lady of the place, with a face marked by time and affection, told me that she herself had picked the fruit, at dawn, in the woods that surround the village like a living crown. And in that saying there was more than a simple note of origin: there was a declaration of faith, there was a sacred bond with the land, there was charity in the gesture. The risotto—oh humble name for something so exalted!—proved velvety and glossy, as if the wild fruits had infused it not only with sweetness, but with memory and breath. Each spoonful was like crossing the threshold of a small, tangible paradise, where balance reigned supreme, and nothing was superfluous or forced. But completeness arrived with the chalice. A white wine, also a foreign one, carried within it freshness and light, which both elevated the flavors and preserved them, as grace does the will. And in that accord of elements, in that perfect harmony, I saw true art revealed: that which does not impose, but accords; that which does not dominate, but understands. So, returning, I myself was no longer the same as I had departed. I thought I had completed a journey of the body, but instead it was a journey of the soul; I thought I was seeking a flavor, but instead I found meaning. Yet, I do not feel—for it may seem strange to say so—that I can bestow more than one star on that place. For what is close to perfection leaves, in the mortal soul, a sense of incompleteness, like a celestial note that cannot be retained. But you, who read, if you long to depart from the usual routes and cross a boundary between reality and symbol, between nature and thought, turn your steps to Morterone. There you will find a woman who is more than a hostess, she is a caretaker; and a table that is more than a meal, it is a revelation.
