It was Valentine yesterday, I'd booked a reservation on Monday last week, but when the time to confirm my reservation, there was none. I've made reservation online many times and never a failed one except here. I called a few times and only answering machine. Anyhow, it was a disappointment but luckily we found Chez Christina not to far away and we had a great dinner. I was glad that the reservation system failed me, because if a great establishment shouldn't have inferior booking system. Yes, I filled in name, hour, email and phone #.

The food was phenomenal. I got the filet mignon with green peppercorn sauce and the meat was beautifully cooked to perfection. On top of that, the owner really cares about the food he makes, and was such a nice person to talk to. I highly suggest going to this restaurant at least once to experience the passion this food exudes.

A lovely, real French restaurant. Great food, very nice owners, and a relaxing atmosphere. Fair prices. Due to its location, it is easily overlooked. So, tell your friends 🙂

If you are looking for fresh, authentic, and delicious french food- this is absolutely the place you'll want to check out!! It is so obvious that the owner Chef Jean Michel pours his heart out into his food & everything was absolutely exquisite. He uses farm-to-table meats and all fresh ingredients- no cans! This place fully exceeded my expectations & I am so happy I found this little gem. If you're in the area def check them out, you will not be disappointed! The restaurant has such a cozy and intimate vibe and Chef Jean and the team make you feel right at home like you're enjoying a delightful dinner at a friend's house.

Three entrees, three appetizers, one dessert. Every single bite of every single item was superb. Excellent food, excellent service. Authentic but not pretentious. Please don't tell anybody else, we keep it or little secret. "I like it, I love it, I want some more of it. " 💯

Best French food is l have ever had outside of France. Limited choice on the menu, but everything there is great, and if you have any "special offers for the day" they'll be superb. Great valentine fixed price menu today, too! Ki

This is my favorite restaurant for special occasions! I've gone here for birthday and anniversary celebrations. The atmosphere is quiet (good for hearing conversations), cozy, and friendly. Went there again last night and owner Jean Michel greeted us at the door, made recommendations and helped with my menu questions, and talked with us at the end of our meal. They gave us a complementary birthday dessert complete with a candle, and when I asked for a to-go box for my entree, the server added in extra side veggies to the box! I always get the chocolate mousse and love it -- dark and rich. :)

Probably the best food around Mountain View, and awesome service. I was in Paris a couple weeks ago and I can say that food quality here is on par. It's delicious! The speed of the service was just unbelievable. The appetizer was brought in less than 5 minutes, and main dish a few minutes after. I only managed to read two pages in a magazine while waiting.

Had a celebratory dinner here and the place is fantastic and amazing. The food is delicious and just the right portions so that you're not hungry or over stuffed. Our waiter was prompt without being too disruptive and it was nice chatting with the owner when he stopped by! Highly recommend this place!

I was so happy to have found a French restaurant that's family owned for many years. We tried it last night and I'm so glad we did. I had the Coq Au Vin De Chanturge, a chicken dish that was to die for. Cooked just right, juicy and so flavourful .My husband had Filet De Boeuf Au Poivre De Madagascar. It melted in his mouth he said. The flavors were outstanding. My father was a chef in Europe and French food is my favorite. Not too spicy and not too flat. Just right, and that's how we found this restaurant to be. We will be back for more! D&D

A wonderful little French bistro with a classic charm seldom found in this area. The owner is very friendly and usually will visit your table at least once, is happy to tell you all you'd want to know about a certain dish or wine. Perfect for special occasions or just a nice delicious dinner out.

Have been going to Le Petit Bistro for years now. It is a Bistro, not a stuffy formal restaurant. The menu offers delicious traditional French Cuisine. We have had group dinners for 10 as well as dinner for 2. It's cozy and even when a full house it's not too loud (as seems to be the case with every place these days). Best to make a reservation on weekends.

A must-visit in Mountain View! Le Petit Bistro is a cozy, authentic French restaurant that completely won us over with its warm ambiance, relaxed and friendly owners, and—most importantly—its incredible food, crafted with over 30 years of culinary expertise by Chef Jean Michel Peuvrelle. We started with the escargot, served bubbling in garlicky herb butter—rich, savory, and absolutely irresistible. The fresh baguette made it easy to soak up every last drop. The coq au vin was a standout—Burgundy wine-marinated chicken braised with shallots, mushrooms, and applewood bacon. Each bite was deeply flavorful and fall-off-the-bone tender. A classic dish elevated with heart and skill. We also tried the chicken cordon bleu, which was equally impressive. Crisp on the outside, juicy on the inside, with savory ham and melted cheese at its core. Paired with creamy potatoes and seasonal vegetables, it was both comforting and refined. Their menu features a well-rounded variety of French classics, including Demi Canard Rôti à l'Orange—roasted half duck in a luscious orange fruit sauce, Filet de Boeuf au Poivre—a perfectly cooked filet mignon in a Cognac and green peppercorn sauce, and Côtelettes d’Agneau aux Herbes de Provence—tender lamb chops served in an herb-infused jus. Each dish reflects Chef Jean Michel’s attention to tradition, balance, and bold yet elegant flavor. We ended with the unforgettable tarte Tatin—a caramelized apple pie topped with crème Chantilly. The apples were golden and sweet, resting on a flaky, buttery crust with the lightest vanilla cream to finish. It was simply divine. With a thoughtfully curated wine list and French-inspired cocktails, the experience at Le Petit Bistro is warm, intimate, and consistently excellent. Whether you're celebrating something special or simply want to indulge in classic French cuisine, Le Petit Bistro in Mountain View delivers every time. We can’t wait to return!

6/14/2025 Le Petit Bistro 1405 W El Camino Real Mountain View, CA 94040 I went there for an early Saturday dinner. It's an easy to miss place on east bound ECR in MTV. There is some parking in the back, enter from the furniture store lot. It's small and cozy inside. Service was attentive and exceptional. I had the Côtelettes D'Agneau au Jus et aux Herbes de Provence, medium rare; with a complimentary glass of wine with a local paper coupon.. The mint jelly was a perfect marriage with the lamb. It was delicious. I also got the onion soup for take out. This was an excellent French dining experience. It's pricey but worth it. I'll be back.

This place deserves more than 5 stars. It looks low key outside but the foods are authentic and amazing, the atmosphere is relaxed, the owners are extremely nice. My wife is from France and this is our go to place when she feels homesick, definitely the best French restaurant we’ve had in US

Magnificent! A gem in Mountain View! Sssshhhhh don’t tell anyone! It will be harder to get reservations! I love this place because of Michael the owner chef! The food is fantastic but the place isn’t pretentious. This place doesn’t need to pretend it’s great. It is! Have been there twice so far. Going back tomorrow with our daughter this time to share it with her. We just got back from Paris. And need another French food fix! This place is an awesome Bistro even by Paris standards (IMHO), but there is room between the tables! ❤️

Super cute French bistro. We come several times a year. Request sweets breads! They only stock if we have enough people ask. Consistently good. Underrated probably because they are low key and don't do social media. Their audience skews older so they recently went low sodium. Good for bringing parents! And you can always add salt.

Authentic French adapted to today's palate of less heavy sauces. Chef has a deft touch with subtle flavors, clearly attentive to details of spice combinations (but a bit heavy-handed on salt in my beef dish, would take off only 1/2 star if I could). Lovely setting if a bit empty in these pandemic times... but it was a Tue night. The salad was surprisingly well finished despite looking relatively unadorned. Onion soup thick and satisfying. Duck L'Orange had a subtle sauce (not overly sweet) with zest & fresh orange slices, quite a lot of duck meat - a tad overdone. Filet Mignon Madagascar was PERFECT in done-ness (I asked for "the done side of med rare"); the sauce would be better with 20% less salt to make it more palatable & let the peppery taste stand out. I appreciated the added subtle spices added to the side vegetables only. The dessert of Tart Tatin (apple tart) was heavenly - the apple tasted airy & light. Service very attentive; the proprietress took great photos of us.

We have dined at this restaurant 7 times on New Year's Eve in recent years. The food is outstanding BUT, December 31, 2024. The service was horrible. We arrived at 6:55 and we were not finished until 8:55. We usually find in all restaurants in the area that we are served and leave in one hour or one hour and fifteen minutes. We had reservations for 7 pm. We finally were given our menus about 7:20 and placed our order shortly after and our soup and salad didn't arrive until 7:55. Then we waited about 30 minutes for our entree. They had 3 people circling the restaurant with water pitchers. I don't know if the chef was overwhelmed or someone didn't show up in the kitchen staff. I had to wave down an employee to get coffee with our requested dessert. The wait person, checked with chef for the dessert with lowest amount of sugar for my diabetic husband. She came back and said the Chocolate Mousse the best choice. Then returned and said no more chocolate mousse, but minutes later chocolate mousse was served to a diner at the next table. I had to wave down an employee in the dining room and requested forks to eat our cheese cakes. She then brought us two spoons. I think it is particularly strange, I have been getting information via email about come eat at La Petit Bistro almost daily. What a disappointment!!!

Food is ok, and environment is nice. Server (young male) is barely trying and dismissive. Like other reviews have mentioned, seemed to have bias against Asian guests

I was hoping they could be nice to Asian people. Don’t just because of our face, then let us wait for longer to sit, to order, to be served.

Everything about the experience was just okay. Service was slow and they spilled water/wine on our table a couple times while pouring. The food didn't have much flavor to it and several things weren't cooked properly (for example, the carrots were undercooked). The duck dish had the most flavor but many of the other dishes were bland.

I ate here with my parents and we were sadly disappointed. After being seated we were served hard dinner rolls that seemed like they were from the day before, with cold unspreadable butter. Later on we asked for more bread and they did give us soft, hot rolls. I guess they had used up all the old ones by then. We all ordered the salad for our appetizer and that's where things really started to go south on our experience. It was supposed to have a Dijon parsley vinaigrette dressing but we couldn't detect any Dijon, parsley, or vinegar. It was just covered in oil. Probably the blandest salad I've ever had. When our entrees were ready, the server asked which dishes went to each person and then proceeded to mix up my parents dishes. Nobody realized what had happened until my parents noticed that the sauces didn't have any of the flavors they were expecting. When we brought up the mix-up to the owner, instead of apologizing and taking responsibility for the server's error, she proceeded to blame us for not noticing the mistake sooner. My parents ended up sharing the Coq Au Vin De Chanturgue and Demi Canard Roti a l'Orange, but they said both were bland. The same can't be said about the seafood pasta that I ordered. It was much to spicy but it offset the blandness of everything else. For dessert my parents had the Tarte Tatin and I had the cheesecake. The Tarte was just ok, but the cheesecake actually had the texture of a soft creamy cheese, but it had almost no flavor. Based on the reviews of others it seems like we just had an unfortunate experience that is not typical of this restaurant, but due to the blandness of most of the food we ate, we will not be trying it again.

C
Cris Perdue

A most unfortunate experience. I ordered the pork medallions and a green salad for takeout early on a Wednesday evening. The good news was that the portions were generous and the salad was good -- butter lettuce with a few nice additions and a mild dressing that I enjoyed. The bad news is that the rest of the food simply was not good. The pork was tough, the potato a bit undercooked, and the vegetables did not taste fresh at all. They gave me a couple of dinner rolls, which I would have really enjoyed, except that they had apparently sat out for far too long, so they were hard and dry, especially on the outside. The meal actually upset my digestive system, too. Sorry for the bad review.

1. Food: The lamb was good, but the duck liver was of low quality and lacked flavor. 2. Service: I inquired with the server about whether the duck liver originated from Eastern Europe or France; she didn't know. However, she was consistently attentive with refilling the water. 3. Unusuall charges: I was surprised to see a mandatory 22% tip added to our bill. I've never encountered such a high mandatory tip, even at Michelin-starred restaurants, and this establishment is not on par with them. The staff was efficient, but they weren't particularly friendly and seemed to lack in-depth knowledge about their menu. Unfortunately, due primarily to reason 3, we won't be returning.

What a disappointment! I was looking forward to getting some French food, but we were only able to taste the coldness and rudeness from our waiter. First of all he was unfriendly from the minute we stepped in the restaurant. When I asked if they had a kids menu, he replied: "Of course not!". What does it mean??? A bistro is supposed to be a casual restaurant not a Michelin star restaurant. Are they too high-end to serve families with kids? Then we tried to find a dish for everyone, but when we ordered, only one item out of around 5 entrees was available. On a Saturday night at 7 pm you would expect they have all the ingredients needed to fulfill their small menu. So we decided to leave and take our business elsewhere where we would feel more welcomed. Well, I will have to make my family some mussels and Coq au vin very soon as we were not able to get our French Cuisine fix. I certainly do not recommend this restaurant! They need to get friendlier staff and be more prepared for a weekend night.

We arrived on time for our reservation and we were told all tables were given to other people and we had to come back at least half an hour later. It's the first time I experience this in the USA. We left and we will never go back to this place. I am French and my friends often ask me to recommend some French restaurants. Well at least I know where they should NOT go

I had a terrible experience at this restaurant during Valentine's Day with my wife. The staff was incredibly unfriendly and unaccommodating. It was quite disappointing to see how unprofessional they were. To top it off, the food was not good at all - the restaurant needs to improve the quality of the food to match the price they are charging. We were really looking forward to a nice romantic dinner, but we left feeling unsatisfied and disappointed.

Can't wait to share the most ridiculous ever dinning experience I ever had. Had meal in this restaurant today. They were overbooked, huge line waited after me. After the meal, I asked for extra piece of bread to the waitress since the plate is small(understandable, I don't have issue with that), and the waitress agreed and served me the bread into my plate. The boss immediately ran over to my table and talked to the waitress in French, and then claimed to me in English that they are not serving a second the piece of bread given they are overbooked. The waitress literally waited at my table so I said that "you can take the piece of bread back if you want", and she really did it. I don't know who are they planning to serve the recycled piece of bread to. Funniest experience ever: taking food away from customer's plate since they don't have enough. Food is okay though, hope it is not recycled.
