Caroline was such a wonderful server! She took great care of my kids and I and even ran our to go box to the car because I forgot it. My kids complimented the kids teriyaki chicken and the sushi roll I got. Stellar!
It was good, we are rather regular at this place and quality has been steady. Lo mein is very delicious. This time i ordered few less colorful sushi plates but they were good. Spicy ones do have heat and their fish is vibrant and fresh. Definitely recomend for dinner or lunch
With a family of 5, we are always trying to find good food and great prices! The food here is so great and lunch specials for under $10 with TONS of food make it even better. I love the general Tsos and the California rolls!
I called to make a reservation for 40+ people. It turns out this restaurant was under new management. They were very accommodating to my party. The birthday surprise was a success due to Akimi’s wonderful staff. They got all the food orders correct, staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was great! Food and drinks were on point! 👌🏼😋
The welcome we received was warm and enthusiastic. We stopped in for a recommended shrimp tempura and egg rolls. I added seaweed salad. The tempura was marvelous and fresh, hot and excellent in flavor. The egg rolls have a bit of a BBQ flavor. Very enjoyable. The seaweed salad is topped with cucumber, crab stick, and sesame. I love these additions. Personally, I didn’t love the pop music. I found it a bit loud. I also prefer instrumental over voice as background to conversation.
So I’ve been going here for lunch break on Fridays for a couple months now and have been meaning to write a review. First off, where can you get this delicious sushi box lunch (#3) for $12.50 anymore? That’s about how much Kroger sushi is and it is consistently so yum. More importantly, the service is ALWAYS the best. Whole staff is sweet, conversational, attentive. Every. Single. Time. Hope the owner knows he’s got a really great team, they rock. See you every Friday I am stuck at my job and have an extra $15 to treat myself. Also, check their happy hour menu it’s also great and 7 days a week!
Wow!!! Very impressed with my entire experience here. For everything we ate, the prices were very low! The dining room was quite empty and quiet, which was nice. I'm a very picky eater. I do not eat seafood - cooked or raw, but my fiancé loves sushi so I figured we’d try this place out. They had a pretty good variety of different types of food on the menu. We had the spicy edamame, which was some of the best I’ve ever had. Chicken dumplings, which came with a delicious sauce. Cream cheese ragoons, which is what I was most excited about since it lacked the common imitation crab! Super crunchy and delicious. My fiancé had the spider roll and the volcano roll and enjoyed them both. I finished with a custom Lo Mein. I just got carrots and snow peas. I am still indifferent on the sauce they used, but I couldn’t stop eating it! The service was very quick and our server Caroline answered all of my questions. We will be back!! 10/10
Very nice place and food, at the right price too. Basically Asian food plus sushi and rolls, but we enjoyed our meal there. Lots of shrimps, good amount of food. Service was great. Even though not really authentic as Asian food, I still liked the taste. Recommended for all to try, just note that food is not really spicy spicy for Asians who love spicy food.
Great spot to pop in for a comfortable dinner with the whole family after a day at Johnson Space Center. Location is perfect, it's across the street from the NASA area. Nothing fancy, prices were reasonable, food and service were both excellent. ✨️Sushi rolls were so good.✨️I guess we found our favorite eatery in Webster.❤🍽
Second time here in less than a week and disappointed in today’s service. I joined my husband for lunch (he was here first) and the waitress never came to acknowledge me. She didn’t bring the bill to me and say here’s the check and walked away. I had to go pay at the front because she never came back to see if I need anything else or to even get my card to pay. Hell she never even told me hello. I asked for a refill and was given a cup and told me to get it myself. Definitely didn’t expect this type of bad service based on my first experience! Second time trying sushi (first time here) and it just gets better and better …. This price is cheaper here but the taste was definitely better !!!!! Good service and great food. Definitely coming back !!!!
First time at akimi last night and it was really good! We got so much food for our money, it was great. The sushi was nice and fluffy. I got the general tsos chicken and it was good. The fries rice side was nice and a little sticky too, so easy to grab with chopsticks. My husband got the pad Thai and they were able to customize it for him and make it with tofu instead of meat. The waiter even asked if he still wanted the egg which was very considerate, since he could've been vegan! Overall a good experience and we would come back. I do want to try the build your own stir fry some time. The one downside is that the restaurant smelled a little like cleaning supplies, but o guess you know it's clean then?
The staff here are very friendly and attentive, and the place is really nice and comfortable. We got the Summer Rolls, Tiger Eye roll, and the Yen Chow fried rice. Summer rolls were good, although the peanut sauce was a bit too much peanut butter for my tastes. The Tiger Eye roll was well made and we were even given regular and low sodium soy sauce. Lastly, the Yen Chow fried rice was sub par. They did use authentic sausage but it lacked any vegetables. No carrots or cabbage or green onions. Overall not bad.
If you want to avoid problems or surprise upcharges, I highly recommend dining in. I’ve been a long-time customer of Akimi, but unfortunately they’re currently at 2 strikes out of 3 for me. Strike one happened on December 21st. I placed an online pickup order and paid online, like most people do. When my boyfriend went to pick it up, they charged him AGAIN for the same order. To be fair, they did fix it once we pointed it out, but that’s still something that shouldn’t happen in the first place. Strike two was yesterday. I placed another online pickup order and noticed the prices were a bit higher, but didn’t think much of it. When we arrived, the employee told us, “It would’ve been cheaper if you just called it in instead of ordering through DoorDash.” Okay… then: A) Why isn’t that stated clearly on your website? B) Why wasn’t this an issue with my previous online order on December 21st, which was also through DoorDash? That explanation just doesn’t add up. And the cherry on top (which honestly could’ve been strike three, but I’m trying to be generous): we didn’t get any fortune cookies. Tragic. :( We also ordered three sushi rolls and were only given two pairs of chopsticks. I’ve genuinely never had issues with Akimi before these two incidents, which is why this is so disappointing. I’m not sure what’s been going on lately, but ordering takeout shouldn’t come with this many headaches.
Appreciate the staff, while they were limited with numbers their service was top notch. The plates were responsibly priced but felt they lacked to the eye. It was also dimly lit which made it a little difficult to see. The seating was very well spaced out so you did not feel cramped and could enjoy time with the family. I ordered two specialty rolls, and the fried calamari. The dishes were tasty and filling.
We ordered two sushi rolls and they did not come out as what was on the menu. We told our server multiple times absolutely nothing with imitation crab. Both rolls came out loaded with imitation crab after saying nothing about it on the menu. Also the rolls for the money were REALLY small. Not worth going back for sushi, however maybe the other items may be better. Certainly one of the worst sushi we ha e been too.
I really don’t understand why would people put lettuce in sushi roll..... It tastes plain for both of the rolls I ordered. The avocado one is better than the veggie one from my perspective. I don’t normally use sauce but I have to use it for the rolls. I was kind of surprised because I thought it is a really good place for sushi. I was disappointed.
I didn’t leave a tip and just received a notification saying the total was changed. They tipped themselves $10. That’s ridiculous. The service sucked and the food and drinks weren’t good. I will be up there tomorrow to get my money back. I will never go to this place again. Because why steal that’s absurd.
they served me and my husband rotten tuna and refused to refund us. when i called back stephanie tried to blame it on my husband????? this place is disgusting and has terrible service. 0 stars. STAY AWAY IF YOU DONT WANT FOOD POISONING
I hate to write a review as this.... I have been going to this restaurant since it opened almost 20 years ago. Here goes.... The servers were very polite and attentive. I am a diabetic and I have always subbed brown rice instead of white rice. I do that with the sushi as well for many years. I was in there about six months ago and I ordered some sushi with brown rice for a take out. A new woman "Stephanie" took more order and then gave me a lecture about brown rice and that it is not the same as white rice. I was very nice and told her that I was well aware of my order and that I have been ordering items that way for almost two decades. Anyway, I go in last night to dine in and the restaurant is completely empty. My friend and I sit down and order our food... etc. Remember our waitress was extremely respectful. After ten minutes, server comes back and says there is now an upcharge on brown rice. This is where I have a few things to say... 1. If there are upcharges on items they should be stated on menu or posted upon ordering. I should not be informed ten minutes later. No, there was no signage, nor anything on menu of any upcharge. 2. I inquired with the server regarding the upcharge. She said "It was the person in charge." I asked to speak with the person in charge. No, I am not a "Karen." I merely wanted an explanation of a "New Policy." Stephanie comes over to the table and I ask this question... "What is with the upcharge for brown rice?" She replied "Everything is going up." I then asked her "Why did it take over ten minutes for me to be informed of this upcharge?" She did not give much of an answer than a defensive face stating "that's how it is..." I proceeded to ask, when/ where etc of such a policy in which this took effect. I asked "Are you the owner?" She replied "I manage this place." Keep in mind she is not using any sort of customer service skills, whatsoever.... She would not give me her name. I was only curious if Akimi was under a new leadership. She walked away. To be fair, I am pissed at her attitude at this point. I was very nice. My partner and I have both worked in the restaurant industry for over ten years. Keep this in mind.... At this point, we had received no food items and I was ready to walk out of this restaurant. We both stayed to see what happened. Anyway, some of the food arrived. The Vietnamese egg rolls arrive and they were burnt and very greasy. I was thinking a manger should be on "Quality Control" or on "Expo" of what is coming out of the kitchen. I suggested to my partner that we just leave. We stayed.... The sushi with the brown rice was delivered to the table... I ordered the "Rock n' Roll" and Salmon Nigiri. I mentioned the restaurant was empty.... The shrimp tempura were absolutely rubbery and from the day before at best. The texture was absolutely repugnant. The brown rice was extremely dry and was very undercooked. We ended up not eating much... The moral of this review, management is everything and if Stephanie is charge, then this place will definitely go down with flailing arms... Bonus material: I was getting takeout a couple months ago, and I noticed Stephanie being loud and rude to a customer on the phone. From my many years of experience in customer service, never be defensive, nor rude. Management should take every situation with a grain of salt... If the owner is reading this review, please beware of Stephanie as a manager. She is not customer oriented in any sense of the word. Stephanie, if you are reading this, please take this advice and learn something about customer relations. I used to LOVE this restaurant, however I have seen a few incidents with the new management. There is something new at Akimi and I am not sure it is good. After a couple decades of being loyal, I am going to pass on this place.....
Went on Friday evening for take out. I am Vegan. Person at counter said the fried rolls were Vegan. Someone came in and told him they have egg brushing. My wife is allergic to mushrooms. She read the description for her entree choice listing each vegetable, Mushrooms were not listed so she chose it with Tofu. She questioned about mushrooms also. I had a close but different dish, the mixed vegetables with Tofu (had mushrooms which I wanted). When we arrived home 6 miles away, both dishes had mushrooms. Neither was labeled so could not distinguish one dish from the other. She could not eat it. Tossed it out. Food was mushy and overcooked. (You need to undercook by a bit the veggies/broccoli for takeout since it continues cooking while contained. That is what a wok is good for. They were not crowded at all. And the well managed restaurants would read the reviews and respond. This restaurant has zero responses to customer feedback,
