This was my first visit. We've always heard the food was excellent so we stopped by for a late lunch and it was prefect. Not too busy after lunch, and plenty of seating. Great service, tasty dishes, and clean restrooms. We will surely be back.

I wish I would taken a pic of our plates but let me tell u. Come with an appetite! Even the lunch plate were big. Food was VERY good. Homemade. Nothing seemed frozen and the pies!!! Yummy. Will definitely be coming back here.

Ive passed this place for years and the parking is always full. Now I know why. I got the burger this time (Fantastic) but they have daily specials with great Southern classics. Beeftips and gravy or catfish. I guess that means two more times. Haha. Got a cobbler to go and they let me try it before leaving. Ohhhh so good. Great stop.

The Jay is a country cafe. The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed. Do not expect a fancy interior. The food is excellent. Better than expected. The daily specials are generous and not expensive. I love their Chicken Fried Steak Their Fried Shrimp is delicious and freshly made.

I love the grilled salmon with a salad and green beans. It is always great! My wife likes the turkey and dressing on Sundays and Sometimes I get the little Tex Chicken Fried Steak which is more than enough for me. Don’t forget to get the Pie! They are all good and take some home, too.

By far the BEST chicken fried steak in a long time. The large was perfect size for the wife and I to share! Definitely worth stopping with wonderful deserts to finish it up!

I was on a business trip and I came here one time and I loved it so much so I came again. I personally loved the double burger with sourdough bread. It was very delicious and juicy. I was served by Isabel who did a fantastic job. I’d highly recommend this cafe.

Stumbled upon this little place called “The Jay Cafe” in Needville. The fried pickles and mushrooms were crispy and delicious! The main entrees of the Jay mushroom burger (add jalapeño for spice) and the Jay Filay (Buffalo Style) were mouthwatering and amazing. The portions were great. We finished the meal with a slice of Peanut Butter Pie (a must try) and Triple Chocolate Cream Pie. We will definitely be returning to this gem.

We ate at the Jay Cafe on Sunday for lunch. It was packed & therefore the food service was slow. However, we still loved the food when it did arrive. The service was great even though it was busy. By the way, the milkshakes are great too 😁

Perfectly relaxing environment with probably THE best burger I've had in Texas served on sourdough buns made in house (jalapeño if ya want). I don't typically go for jalapeño poppers, but I love theirs. Service is always super friendly and fast. Plus music playing at an appropriate volume (I don't like when I can't hear the person I'm talking to). I will always choose this place when I'm in the area and always recommend it to others.

My family visited this The Jay based on a recommendation from a friend and we were very happy with our experience here! We had just visited a state park nearby and arrived quite hungry. We did call ahead as there was a group of 20+ and wanted to give them ample time to prepare. They greeted us and quickly seated us in a side room from the primary dining area. Our server was took our order as soon as we were ready and was so friendly and sweet. Everything was served to order, however I t was a bit slow. There was probably 5 minutes between when I received my meal, and my wife receiving hers. One member of our group chased down someone to get our utensils. The food was delicious though. The ranch was creamy and flavorful, I’d call it “Top notch!” The chicken fried steak was crispy, tender, and yummy. I did ask for extra gravy because I love it. The fried okra - 😘, but I do wish I would have got the fries instead of mashed potatoes. The fries were better in my opinion. My wife’s chef salad was HUGE, if you’re familiar with Seinfeld, you’d understand “THE BIIIGGGG SALAD!!!”. I had a taste of the salmon and that was 🔥🔥🔥🔥. My son had the Juicy Jay burger but I didn’t get a picture and he said it was great! Overall, we’re happy with our visit and would return!

I love Jay Cafe. The hostess tonight has the cutest personality. She is perfect for greeting and seating. Also, the Catfish and Shrimp special is exactly what I wanted. Our server was equally awesome and food is great as always. I will be taking home a slice of their fabulous Coconut Cream Pie too… early happy birthday to me. Visited on the recommendation of a nearby honey shop. Well, and I'd driven past for years and never stopped. It was well past time to visit. . We were seated in a small separate area, not in the main dining room. It was fine, but the vibe was decidedly muted. . We ordered unsweet iced tea to start. Mine arrived warm, with two small ice cubes that tried and failed to cool it. Tasted good, but my lands! . I ordered the juicy Lucy-type burger and my wife the bacon cheese burger, with jalapeno poppers to start. . The poppers were good. Super hot, molten really, with a nice crunchy exterior. They were not spicy, but it was a large serving and we worried it was too much with a large burger coming. We were right to worry. . The burgers arrived not long after the poppers. Unfortunately, my burger had split so that the juicy cheese had drained out. I had a sort of cheesy French fry as a result. The burger was still excellent, but I wish it had the cheese. The jalapeno sourdough bun was remarkable. Pillowy soft, but strong enough to handle the burger. I gave me a strong throw back to the Thirsty Parrot in Monaville, RIP. . I loved the bacon on my wife's burger. Thick and fatty, how I love it. It wasn't her preference, so she donated some of the ample topping to me. My win, her loss. . I ordered fries, they were fine. She ordered fried okra, and she says it was ok; lacking some crispiness. . We had a good sized to-go box: the servings were ample. . This was a good experience. We'll stop by next time we visit the area for honey.

Moved to Needville a year ago and have eaten here many times. Took me a few visits to realize that they really take advantage of you if you ask for a side of any condiment, bbq sauce, ranch (which appears very watered down…). When I observed how much they charge for ranch, I stopped going back for months. Decided to try again tonight and ordered the chicken strips. I asked them to substitute the gravy for a side of bbq sauce and the waitress said that will cost me a “couple of dollars”. I questioned it and she confirmed several times. I thought about it and ended up leaving. Could be a good place but tired of them charging you for everything. If you are reading this Jay Cafe, reply when you stop charging like this and I’ll come back. People notice when you take advantage of them and this leaves a very cheap feeling from your customers. I really will return and delete this review, perhaps with a positive one if you change.
