We happened upon Moonshine & Ale around 7:30 on a Saturday night. When we arrived, it wasn’t very crowded, which made it easy to grab a drink and get settled. The drinks were fine and reasonably enjoyable. Once the piano bar music started, the place quickly became extremely crowded. The piano bar itself was fun and energetic, but the sheer number of people made it feel a bit overwhelming. Overall, it’s a lively piano bar with a fun atmosphere — just be prepared for big crowds once the music gets going.

I like going for the live band karaoke, and almost always get called to stage to come sing, they give everyone a chance. However, people do get very rowdy here and at times it ruins the environment for others

We had a fantastic time. The entertainment was awesome. Our waitress was great and the atmosphere was fantastic. The drinks? 👎🏼 I had 2 drinks and 3 shots. I am a light weight so that should have had me asleep on the way home. I felt like maybe one of those shots actually had alcohol in it. Not worth the money for the drinks. If you like beer, stick to that.

Honestly, I had such a blast at this bar! Never been to a bar where you request songs and someone else sings them and it was a good time! My drinks were good, the server was great, and the atmosphere was on point. I would have given 5 stars, but after seeing sooooo many people complain about being overcharged and getting cards lost, it makes me nervous to trust them. I would like to go back, but I'll probably have to go out of my way to get cash first for my own piece of mind.

Oh my goodness we had so much fun last night! Our server was so cute and so friendly. The karaoke band also had great energy and did such a good job of getting people up on stage to sing! Can't wait to go back!

Very fun place with talented musicians. Very trendy but authentic look to the building. Loud and lively atmosphere. Very entertaining for guests. I enjoyed being able to make requests to the musicians. Not your big city piano bar but a wonderful smaller version of one. Was a blast and I am looking forward to going again. Mixed drinks were weak but cheap.

First time - a little disappointed. Was looking to start the weekend with a early happy hour drink and snack (menu shows a good variety), but bartender said no food was available. She was surprised to see the advertised menu.

They took my card to start my tab, kept it behind the bar. Servers came around to get us another round and said she couldn’t find my tab and none of the bartenders could find my card. None of the staff was apologetic, was told for the next 20 minutes that they don’t have my card and that they lost it. Then I’m told the “manager” is looking for it. She hands me it without saying a word no sorry nothing. Sucks.

If you are a karaoke singer and try this out on Thursdays. Plan on tipping. You will move down the list unless you tip. We waited 2 hours and moved from 7 to 8 and our song was taken from someone who tipped. If I knew before hand it would have been fine.... Just an FYI

The place has a casual pleasant feel. That's all I can say that is favorable. The service was extremely poor on a Friday night at 8pm during the Christmas tree lighting. No less than 4 waitresses were chatting up the bar keep and drinking Red Bull while all the tables were not being served. Customers had to do walk up service. Drinks were run of the mill. It's a piano bar so the music started about 8:39pm which is about the time our drinks arrived. I don't know if the band was 9 minutes late or 21 minutes early? Just an odd time. I feel like the place could be really fun but just poorly managed on a Friday evening during a holiday event downtown.
