Overall quite an good experience and the food was nice.

Here’s a fantastic neighborhood place serving delicious Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine with a flair. They have friendly, attentive, and quick staff to handle busy times. The bar area is handled masterfully by Natalia and the owner, Suleman is around to make sure you’re having the best experience. Turkish music and belly dance entertainment on Thursday nights is an absolute must see if you’re in the area or looking for places in Upper East. Hummus is great, and the usual Mediterranean dishes are sublime. There was a grilled octopus dish a friend ordered (not sure the name) that was hands down one of the best things I’ve tasted. Enjoy

The food was fabulous, we came on a Monday at 7:45 and were surprised it wasn’t crowded. After we finished the meal we were shocked! The food is fabulous, our server, Ali was amazing!

my friend and i went today for the restaurant week lunch and everything about the experience was amazing. the staff was so kind and welcoming, the restaurant was beautiful and clean (we sat by the window), and all of the food was incredibly delicious. also despite it being restaurant week, the portions were hugeeee (sometimes restaurants give much smaller portions for their deals but not here!!) 10/10, will be coming again :)

Amazing experience as always. Food, music and ambience are spot on! Try this exotic cuisine you won’t be disappointed. The appetizers and entrees are great! Highly recommend having falafel, zucchini fritters and the branzino as main dish!

I bought a Groupon for the mixed grill and it didn’t disappoint. So much food and all delicious. Traditional Turkish tastes (I had it a few weeks after I came back from Istanbul). It’s pricy here but you’ll enjoy the food!

I went here with my family and had one of everything because my family is nice to me for some reason. The beef kebab was the best, the shrimp was 2nd, the octopus 3rd and the lamb was 4th. The zucchini pancakes were way too good - i could have kept eating them, and the falafel was good. Im not a fan of babaganoush but my family loved it. Wasnt a fan of the margarita but it was a good size, the service was professional but absent. Lots of tables to check on. Ill be heading back on date nights definitely. Top tier spot!

I had an amazing dining experience at A la Turka! The ambiance was warm and inviting, perfect for a date night. Our server, Ali, was attentive and made the evening even more enjoyable. The drinks were fantastic, and the food was absolutely delicious. We ordered their special beef shank, and it was tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food and a wonderful atmosphere!

Christmas was the 2nd time going to dinner there, and it was fantastic. We arrived half an hour earlier, and we got seated right away. The atmosphere was very nice. Drinks and food on par. We had Yagmur both times as our server, and she was the sweetest. I've been recommending this restaurant to a lot of people, and some already went and were delighted as well. Great job! 👏👏👏

I hesitated because of negative feedback, but my experience was wonderful. Personnel show exceptional friendliness. What makes it unique is the neighborhood presence. The cost-to-quality ratio makes sense. I want to come back to explore other specialties.

We happen to be neighbours to this restaurant, and we couldn’t resist checking it out for dinner after seeing all the amazing looking food out there every day. We were pleasantly surprised when the food tasted even BETTER than it looked…we would rate it a 11/10 if we could 😋 On top of that, the service was outstanding. All of the staff were spectacular and the atmosphere was the best. Overall a fantastic experience, and we’ll definitely be back again!

Was visiting a friend on the UES and we came in here for dinner. Its a nice little place on the corner of 74th and 2nd. Service was amazing. We were seated immediately and told the waitress, that we hadn't seen each other in a few months and wanted to catch up. To start we ordered 2 glasses of wine and a falafel appetizer to start.. The falafel was excellent. Came 5 pieces to the order. It was crisp and full of flavor and served with tahini for dipping. For the main course we shared Stuffed Cabbage. 3 large cabbage rolls stuffed with lamb in a sweet tomato sauce and served with garlic yogurt. Big enough to share. The food was very good and the ambiance was nice. It was quiet and my friend and I were able to sit, enjoy and talk. Thank you for a nice evening!

Great food and great service! The place was packed with people, so make sure you have a reservation in advance! The staff were very friendly and apologetic that our table was not ready at our reserved time and offered us a seat at the bar while we waited and a pair of free drinks for our troubles! Very kind and attentive to our needs, even though it wasn’t their fault. Food was delicious and lively atmosphere. Would definitely come back!

It has a classy Mediterranean vibe with excellent food to back it up. The waiters are all pleasant and the dining area can be quite crowded. Get the stuffed grape leaves. Also the meal comes with bread and two sauces. Hope this helps!

Visited after closing time the day before labor day 2015. They actually reopened their kitchen at almost midnight to serve us!! The food and service was unobjectionable. Went again for Valentine's day 2017. Everything was great but the Adana kebab was specially great.

Would love to drop by again , the manager Mr. Cem was extra hospitable with our little guest and used the bubble machine , the rib eye stake was perfect , mixed grill was great , best halal meat option in the neighbourhood, kid friendly , all the staffs were so accommodating, should have asked them their names. Definitely going to visit again. ♥️ we were so busy catching up didn’t get time to take pictures.

The best Turkish restaurant we have been coming to for last 20 years. The lamb adana kebabs are so juicy and delicious that we come from upstate NY to pick up biweekly. Suleman and Yasim are amazing they make sure we always get the order right and they pack in the goodness!! Adana come wrh rice, peppers, onions and dipping sauces. We also order the Shepard's salad to complete the meal.

The best Turkish food on the upper east side or probably all of Manhattan we love it there we get the cigars for appetizer the hummus and for dinner we get chicken Adana and lamb Adana salads are great. The atmosphere is great especially if you're having a birthday celebration you get a dessert with a big flaming candle. It's a must we go there at least once a week.

Amazing Turkish food!!!! At first we thought the prices were a bit high but when we got served, we were pleasantly surprised by the portions and how delicious the food was. The service was also great, they give you delicious bread to start and we highly recommend trying their hummus.

Absolutely delicious food!!! Went here for restaurant week (weekday lunch) and it was really amazing. The restaurant itself is beautiful, lots of people even for lunch time. The service was great, though a bit on the slower side for the area we were sitting at. I felt that the server maybe forgot about us on multiple occasions but the food really made a great impact. Would certainly dine here again. For first course we got hummus with very tasty bread and eggplant shakshuka-- probably the best I've ever had. For second course we chose lamb shank which also had mashed potatoes and eggplant which is different than most restaurants and it really made a difference. The grilled eggplant really made the dish more complete. I really would go back to this place just for the lamb shank. The other entree we got was chicken shish kebab and it was comparable to other restaurants. And lastly for desert we got fig with walnut and it was very tasty. It was the very first time I've ever had it and was hooked. We also got baklava. I really would love to go back to this place again, maybe sometime at night because the restaurant looks very nicely decorated with lights.

I came to NYC with my husband and randomly picked the place before the trip, however I familiarized myself with the menu and the guests’ reviews prior to coming there. A la Turka was one of my favorite experiences during my trip. The quality of the food is amazing. Each dish was seasoned perfectly, with fresh ingredients and I could say the lamb meat was very fresh and of an outstanding quality. In addition the waiter was very helpful in making my food selections. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want to taste of an authentic Turkish cuisine! I’m definitely going back to enjoy again 😋

Update 2025: finally went back for dinner service and they did not disappoint. We had the lamb chops (note to self: get 'medium', not medium rare as that was too rare for me!) which were delicious. Very different vibes for dinner service vs. lunch. If you order their meat set/special, they make it a show with sparkles and carve it up for you at the table. Could be a great place to have a birthday dinner with 6~8 people. From 2023: Went for their lunch special, where you get a 3 course meal for under $30. Lamb was so delicious 😋. We will definitely be back for more!

I had the pleasure of dining at A La Turka, and it was an experience to remember. From the moment I walked in, the warm ambiance and friendly staff made me feel so welcome. The food? Simply incredible. Every dish was bursting with authentic flavors, and you can tell they put so much care into everything they serve. The kebabs and Asado were perfectly cooked, the mezes were fresh and flavorful. What stood out most, though, was the attention to detail. The staff made sure we were comfortable and happy throughout the meal, offering thoughtful suggestions and making us feel at home. Whether you’re looking for a cozy dinner spot or a place to celebrate something special, A La Turka is a fantastic choice. I can’t wait to go back and try more of their menu!

Used a PULSD to try out the place. Worth every penny. The portions of food are huge (but be a little greedy, it is THAT good). The bread was hot and fresh, the eggplant is a perfect way to start the meal. The chicken village is everything you could ask for in a meal: full and flavor and delicious. If you can eat desset try the chocolate mousse. The winner was the feta cigars. The service is what every restaurant should strive for. Mos def going back

We loved our late lunch, early dinner. After spending the afternoon admiring Halloween decorations, we worked up an appetite. (I love wandering around my NYC like a tourist even though i lived here 30 years) Too hungry and tired, we asked our waiter, Ali to recommend his favorites. He created a spectacular meal for us. I had a wonderful dining experience at A La Turka. When I arrived, Ahsan kindly seated me by the window, which I truly appreciated since I always prefer window seating. Yagmur was very friendly and patient. She walked me through the vegan section of the menu in detail and helped me choose my dishes. Based on her recommendations, I ordered the Fasulye (Bean Salad), Falafel, and Eggplant Shakshuka. All three dishes were delicious, and they came with complimentary warm bread—soft, fresh, and served perfectly warm. When the food arrived, Cem, the manager, personally brought everything to my table and explained each dish so I could match the names correctly. His attentiveness and hospitality made the experience even more welcoming. Overall, I had an excellent Thanksgiving lunch at A La Turka—especially meaningful since most restaurants were closed. I truly appreciate that they were open and provided such warm service and great food. I highly recommend this restaurant!

I had such a wonderful experience here! The lamb village kebab was perfectly cooked – tender, flavorful, and full of spices. I also tried the kunefe, which came out warm with the right balance of crispy pastry and gooey cheese, and the cold baklava, which was a refreshing twist on the classic dessert – not overly sweet, just perfect. Everything paired beautifully with a hot glass of Turkish tea, which made the meal feel complete. Our server Ali was amazing – attentive, kind, and made sure we had the best experience. The staff overall were friendly and welcoming, the decorations were absolutely beautiful, and the atmosphere was cozy and authentic. Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to!

My family members residing in NYC decided to treat us to some Turkish food. I wasn't very happy to hear this as Turkish food is mainly a (hit or) miss. As we entered, we were attended to immediately and provided a table. I noticed there ambiance and decor was top notch, not common for any Turkish kind of restaurant. Once we were advised on the specials for the evening, we ordered and the food was served in due time. The beef ribs and chicken kebabs were amazing. One of the best of tasted world wide, far better than even eating at a top notch Turkish (as in if you were in Turkey) restaurant. The cost for these meals were very high though, so be be prepared to pay if you're going in a large group. Only thing annoyed me here was the staff cleaning up while even though there isn't much space around the table.

Located on the Upper East Side this local favorite doesn’t disappoint. Oversized portions come out from the kitchen piping hot cooked to perfection. I have been back and can’t wait to bring more friends. They go all out if it’s your birthday sparklers and singing. Super fun to watch. Beautiful interiors.

Very nice Turkish restaurant in Upper West Side of Manhattan. The have both outdoor and indoor seating options. The food is really good and they have great selection to choose from. They also have many drink options including Turkish wines and beer. The staff is very nice too. We will come here again.

Although the service was prompt and the food was beyond typical U.S. standards, the staff seemed unresponsive to our inquiries, despite we were communicating in Turkish. Arriving 30 minutes before our reservation, we hoped to enjoy drinks at the bar, but were advised to be seated immediately due to anticipated bar crowding, which ultimately did not occur. Additionally, when attempting to order appetizers with our cocktails, we were informed that entrées needed to be ordered simultaneously, as the restaurant does not permit separate appetizer orders on weekends. Cocktails were amazing!

We ordered the Fried Feta rolls, Mixed Grill and Lamb Village. All of the food was excellent and meat was tender and juicy! They have outdoor enclosed seating which we enjoyed while their AC indoors was not working.

S

Ambiance (4/5): the inside is dimly lit and very jampacked. There is an outdoor dining area that is enclosed with heat lamps. Personally preferred it since it is less loud, more intimate and spacious. Service (4/5): on a Saturday evening, there was no space indoors, since all the tables were reserved. However, we were immediately seated in their outdoor dining area, which was only 20% full. The service was okay in the outdoor dining area. Food (/5): Table bread (5/5): Wow! Their bread was extremely soft and had a nice seasoning to it. It was the star out of all the appetizers! Feta Cigars (4/5): it came in six pieces and loved the crunch from the pastry outer layer! While it tasted pretty good, I probs wouldn't get it again. Zucchini Fritters (4/5): The fritters were extremely flavorful, and I loved the garlic yogurt sauce. Additionally, there was another tomato-based sauce that also went well with the fritters. I would order this dish again. Chicken Yogurt Kabob (4/5): the chicken pieces were extremely tender and slightly flavored from its marinade. The portion size is enough to share between two, and looks like there is a lot more because it was covered in a sauce over a bed of soaked bread pieces, peppers and onion.

The ambiance was really nice and the service was exceptional. The adana kebab was the best of them all, followed by Hunkar Begendi. The swordfish kebab was below par given the price. The desserts (Kunefe and tres leches) were perfect to finish the lunch.

Enjoyable Turkish restaurant with authentic cuisine. Very nice looking restaurant with ample outdoor and indoor seating. Was there for brunch and we enjoyed the food and atmosphere on 2nd Avenue. The shakshuka was a nice twist with eggplant. The bread was fresh and tasty, going well with the various Mediterranean dips. Our waitress was from Turkey 🇹🇷 so she could explain the dishes well.

We had a good time at A La Turka. The vibe on a Saturday evening was lively and energetic, which made for a fun night out. We had a reservation and were seated right away when we arrived, which is always appreciated on a busy weekend. One cool touch was that our table actually lit up, adding a fun and slightly unexpected element to the experience. To start, we ordered the hummus and the feta cigars, and both appetizers were delicious. For the main, we shared the Mixed Grill, which includes lamb adana, chicken shish kebab, chicken chops, meatballs, and lamb shish kebab. Everything was well seasoned, tender, and flavorful, and it ended up being the perfect dish for two people to split. We were also glad they sat the two of us at a table for four, which meant we had plenty of space for all the plates without feeling crowded. We also ordered cocktails, and they were pretty solid. Overall, it was an enjoyable meal and a great spot for a lively dinner—we’ll definitely be back, and are curious what their weekend brunch is like.

Had a late lunch/early dinner with lahmacun and Adana kebab. Both were quite authentic, basically what you would find in a good restaurant in Turkey. Lahmacun was really good with just the right amount of crispiness. Adana kebab could definitely have been better, and the bread that came with it was too oily. They use the Merve brand for ayran, which is fine. Turkish tea was slightly overbrewed.

Upper East Side neighborhood Turkish restaurant serving good food at a reasonable price. We were a party of two and went to A La Turka on a Saturday night. It was lively and crowded. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. We ordered the A La Turka salad and Falafel for appetizers. And for the main we had the Lamb Shank and the grilled whole Branzino. The portions were generous and the food was good. Overall we enjoyed our dinner at this restaurant.

Stopped by here when we were in the city. The seating is very cozy, good is excellent…some of the best kababs ever, the service however left alot to be desired, actually their customer service sucks! Reasonable prices for the city, over all a good experience.

Our friends took us out to dinner on a Saturday night, and the food was absolutely delicious—we loved everything we ordered. The service was also fantastic. Our only complaint was the noise from multiple birthday celebrations. There were three or four that night, with waitstaff making loud music and singing at each one. Thankfully, we were seated outside.

Had party of 7 people at 4 PM on a Saturday. Place was not busy but we had multiple waiters keep looking at us and asking us for orders. We started with a round of drinks then ordered apps. followed by a few entrees to share and dessert. . No crowd was rushing through door at that time so very annoying to have constant attention of multiple staff trying to get us to order next course. At the end we spent 2 hours there for drinks, apps, entrees and dessert which is pretty fast for party of 7. Food was good other than some chicken chunks that were undercooked. The taste of Shrimp entree was off.

I wasn’t inspired and ordered the baby okra stew, not the best option for sure. My partner’s lamb tasted delicious, few pieces of lamb though with uncooked tomato. I had definitely better Turkish food than this.

Delivery order. Food arrived early. Portions seem to be getting smaller. They didn't include sauce with chicken adana kabobs. Another time they didn't have what i ordered. They called and we agreed on a substitute but they sent something different. Food is still good, but service nd attention to detail not as good as it was.

The food was delicious and we loved the main dishes we got! The dessert was just okay. But overall experience for us was not that great.

Used to be a fun place. Sadly they stopped having live entertainment and music. Don't know what happened...

I’m bummed to give this place 3 stars. The food was tasty. Service left a bit to be desired. Missing items, apps came out at the same time as the entree, and they charged the dinner prices for food at lunch time when you have a lunch menu. This was particularly misleading for me. If you have menu prices which vary only by the time you sit down to eat, please ensure those prices are managed properly.

The food quality is not the problem, the main issue is the portions are tiny, and the food is under-cooked. This is a very high-end restaurant, so a rather intimidating vibe. I guess they assume that rich people can live on 600 calories a day. The food quality is excellent but the portions are so tiny that make it completely not worth it. It is clear that they are catering to the wealthiest of the wealthy, so I doubt they care if they lose a customer or not. And this place has high quality food (just in ridiculously small portions), so I doubt they will not last a long time.

This place is right around the corner with nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Our waiter suggested us Feta Cigars and they were really good. The falafel platter came with pickled veggie. This is the only restaurant I have come across where we get pickled veggies with falafel. The quantity of the platter was less and falafel were bit under cooked.

Food was fine, not awesome. I found it surprising that the extra charge losted on the menu for turkish saussage on the shakshouka means, literally, two *very* thin slices of saussage. It was actually funny.

I enjoyed their puree of lentil soup. I also enjoyed their grilled whole branzino served with mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables and a long loaf of bread. I am a lamb shank enthusiast. I tried it here at A la Turka three times. The first time I tried it I was pleased. On the second and third times the lamb shank ($32) was overcooked, having little to no flavor. The presentation was great with an abundance of different colored cooked vegetables, accompanying the lamb shank in a tomato sauce, rice was on the side. The lamb shank dish makes for a colorful picture, but the flavor was not there. If you pay by credit card, be sure to get a credit card receipt, not just an ordered item receipt.

Turkish restaurant near upper east side with nice outdoor seating. I noticed that lunch special menu is a little confusing and asked the waiter to assist me with order. I have ordered the special that listed appetizers shepherd salad and main course chicken kebab. My expectations were appetizers will come first and kebab comes next but as lunch special they put on top of each other. Salad was ok but chicken kebab could have been better. Waiter also gave me a piece of baklava as of complimentary. I noticed that if you order from regular menu, presentation looks different. Trying lunch special wasn't my intention to save money but to see how it taste.

Decent spot on the UES for Turkish food. Decent but nothing crazy. Ambiance was nice, they had resin countertops and walls, with deep blue furnishings. Service was good as well. We got two salads, calamari and branzino. Salads were nice and fresh, seafood was pretty good. Drinks were flavorful and delicious.

Absolutely disgusting experience! Went for dinner and the waiters were very keen on rushing us through despite other empty tables. They kept asking whether we were done especially when there was food still left on the table and we were still eating! At one point the supervisor was asking one of the waiters to ask us whether we’re done and the waiter told the supervisor that she asked us just a moment ago and that we were still working on the food and the supervisor told the waiter to ask again! All this in front of us that we can hear. Very bad experience, just go somewhere else! In NYC there’s plenty of options!

My husband is Turkish and one of his favorite restaurants are all the way in Astoria, but when we moved here in the UES, we found this nice spot. We have gone here more than 15 times and in the beginning their food was AWESOME! But as time goes by and ever since they’ve renovated, the food tasted changed dramatically. My favorite meal here was Hunkar begendi. I love this food so much that my nanny cooked it for us! But this evening, it tasted extremely sour, like it was tomato sauce straight from the jar. The reservation situation was another story. Since today was a special day, I requested a table for 2 by the window. And the maîtresse said that table was for the boss only for us to see after our meal given to another couple. I am Asian and the other couple were not (if you know what I mean)…

Paying almost $37 for a meal that leaves you hungry—and missing stuff too—is definitely not the "premium" experience a mixed grill price tag usually promises. I ordered the mixed grill for $36.95, but it wasn't worth the price. The food was just okay, and the portions were surprisingly small. To top it off, one of the items was missing. For that much money, I expected way better value.

First of all, we called them if they’ll accept the Pulsd coupons and they said yes but when we got here they said we cannot use it. Second, the food was was not worth it! It was super unseasoned and bland! We asked for hot sauce and they gave us Marinara sauce with pepper flakes. The food only looks good from the outside, the taste is non-existent. Then I ordered and margarita and it was the worst margarita of my life. There was just water and tequila in the margarita. Definitely do not recommend.

Very disappointing experience. The service was poor and the food mediocre. We were accidentally served the wrong dish, which we only realized after a while. When we brought it up, the manager was unexpectedly rude. He did offer to comp the dish, but then took the plate away mid-way, which made the situation even more uncomfortable. At that point, we didn’t feel like waiting for our actual order and just asked for the check. We left feeling unwelcome and dissatisfied. We definitely won’t be returning.

Where do I even start? Food was really horrible. I have tried so many Turkish restaurants so far and this was the worst! Pretty average falafel, main course kebabs were totally tasteless and not at all marinated! And on top of that added 20% gratuity for average service. I don’t mind paying 20% service but they should earn it rather than not bothering about service and adding it automatically!

I’m sure the food is wonderful at this restaurant, but sadly my partner and I were unable to eat there. We attempted to order a Mezza plate and two cocktails, but were told by the server that we must also order two entrees to keep our table. I completely understand and appreciate the restaurant needing to fill its tables on weekends with serious customers, but I am puzzled as to why a $45 mezzo plate, two $22 cocktails (we likely would have each gotten another drink as well) and a $20 bottle of sparkling water would not be considered a serious order. It seems inappropriate to enforce that kind of demand on customers.

Rude and unprofessional waiter. Me and a friend were told that we could not order an entree and an appetizer and we must order two entrees. We never saw that posted anywhere upon sitting down. If that wasn’t bad enough after paying the check the waiter would not provide my friend with some more hot water in her cup. His reasoning was that we were there 1.5 hours and we had to leave at that point. There were plenty of empty tables in the place and no one waiting for seats, but for some reason he was trying to free up this table. We eventually called over the manager who really did not show that he cared at all about how we were treated. Suffice to say that we will never be back along with anyone in either of our families. Worst service I have experienced in my lifetime!!

I had extremely disappointing experience last time I made an order I placed an order on a website. It was accepted and confirmed. 22 minutes later! I received a call saying they don’t have the item I ordered and I was given two options: cancel the order or order something else. I chose to cancel, but what I was NOT told is that canceling means no refund. As a result: – $55 – no food received – my mood is down Should I consider that this $55 is an investment in the restaurant? Or was it a charity donation? If a restaurant accepts an order and only later realizes they don’t have the product, that’s NOT the customer’s problem. Charging someone for nothing is UNACCEPTABLE! The food is usually good (sometimes burnt, but whatever). But this time it wasn’t about food - it was about basic responsibility and respect Paying $55 to receive absolutely nothing should never happen! I’m very very very angry. Very disappointed. Definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND and I wouldn’t order from here again
