Blind Barber is probably one of my favorite bars to take out-of-towners. Why? 1.) You enter through the back wall of a barber shop. "Wah??" your guests will say. "You're so cool!" your guests will exclaim and forever hold you in the highest ranks of cooldom. 2.) It's the easiest speakeasy to get into. You want to get a party of 5 into PDT? Don't make me laugh. 3.) The drinks are good and speakeasy priced. Don't bother coming here if all you want is a vodka soda. Girl please, if you want to cut down on the calories, don't go for the halal cart at the end of the night. 4.) You like a chill intimate place? Come early. You want something a little more popping? Come later when the place becomes packed. There's a little something for everyone.

This place is behind the barber shop on 10th st. Good cocktails and a great place to take your friends if they want to experience a new york speakeasy. Try to go in early since the place gets crowded after 10pm

Rumor parties are always a vibe! Great staff , drinks are great too!

J
Jasmin Jones

A vibe (the speak easy) Vic Mensa was there and Dixon! Seems like this is the spot to be if you want to hang out with industry and underground people.

First visit to the branch in The Moxy hotel because it's near my office. Troy was a gem. Lovely guy. Gave me a great haircut and beard trim with hot towels etc. No rush. very cool guy and good to chat to. Thanks Troy, i'll be back.

This review is for the barbershop only. Service has always been stellar and attentive without being stuffy. Alex is great. It's pretty no frills which is great for me. Go in, drink a beer, get your haircut, leave.

Great drinks, "secret place". Beautiful environment.

Fun and chilled. Drinks were much cheaper than other bars and there was plenty of space. A pleasant surprise!

Very cook speakeasy place. Back room turns into a proper bar after hours, great dj, interesting cocktails, we had a great night.

Nice place you can get a cut and a drink nice place for men to let there hair down

Cool bar/lounge, with great vibes but nothing too hyper. A great change of pace from the big clubs located in Meat Packing. In addition it has a “secret” entrance which is nice simply because its something different.

A

I love the speakeasy-ness of the Blind Barber. There's a working barbershop in the front! I've only been to parties there but they've all been amazing. The bartenders are fun and more than capable. The diversity of cocktails are great and strong enough to have you stay within your budget. Take some friends and make a night of it.

You think getting a haircut by a blind barber is a good idea? Do you? Seriously? Yeah it is! What a blast! Never know what’s gonna happen next! Watch out for those scissors around my ears! My friends call me Vincent Van Gogh now! What a blast!

This is one of the best bars I've ever been to in my life and I travel 20+ times a year all over the world. Amazing music ✔️ Vibes ✔️ Monica the bartender✔️✔️✔️ The kindest staff that handles a drunken crowd with such grace and compassion, delicious drinks (try the strawberry drink which is the best thing I've ever had at a dive bar)and the most fun music! Monica should run the place because she absolutely makes the experience with her energy and bartending.

M
Mathieu Coquelet Ruiz

Must try speakeasy in the LES. Pricy in comparison to other speakeasies, but great atmosphere.

A
Andrew Shiah

Not a review for the shop itself, but for the bar in the back room. A fun speakeasy to go to at night! One of the major plusses is you can actually still go to this one without making a reservation weeks in advance, unlike some other popular places in the area. And it’s not that expensive drink wise for what it is, one of the cheaper speakeasy options in the area as well. Plus it’s loads of fun!

Place is amazing, sometimes they have the best DJ in East village, but sometimes it kinda sucks. Some of the single guys here are insufferable and shove their way to the middle where they spread out and bump into everyone. That being said it was incredible and they do have cute guys too

A
Aileen munoz

The place is great. Speakeasy bar with a barbershop in front and then you can enter the bar through the back door. Best old fashioned i have tried in Manhattan. Loved the vibe of the place. Bartender was awesome, skilled, and bilingual which I liked, (Thanks JC) our drinks were right on point, and he made us feel welcomed and appreciated. Will definitely come back. Nice spot

A
Amelia

They have absolutely delicious cocktails, the epitome of a Speak Easy and it's a great date spot! It's pretty empty during the week, but I tend to like that more as it creates a more intimate setting.

Y
Yusuf Esenboga

This place is one of the best night out places ever. The bartenders are really great, the place is usually crowded and the prices are pretty average for NYC. The location is also great. And the music? it’s one of the best. Always playing hit rap and pop songs.

R

Came here via a promotional event that featured Johnnie Walker. Pthere's something about cold weather and the seeming warmth of quality drinks that is timeless and a comforting feeling. a busy event of custom cocktails via the elixir experts utilizing Johnnie Walker in each of the three signature cocktails: the Lychee Highball, The Johnnie Jett, and the Earl Grey Old Fashion. all were well-made cocktails but the winner in my book was the Johnnie Jett-- the smooth & booziness of Johnnie Walker plus the kick of citrusy Aperol. who knew Johnnie Walker Black Label --a Scotch Whisky--worked so well in a mixed drink? though the bar was teeming with people...the bartenders hit the mark and put out an insane amount of drinks during the event while chatting with us. a fun night of revelry and chatter to make a mundane night memorable.

It was a cool place for an after party. The DJs were good and the crowd was cool. Definitely younger crowd and drinks were solid.

Beyond cool. Speakeasy style. Good drinks and atmosphere. Great shabby-chic Melbourne-esk decor. Great experience for anyone. Does get very busy on the weekends. Be ready line up if you're fashionably late

I have been getting my hair cut by Jeremy for several years now. After mixed experiences and some very bad experiences at other place, I’m happy to say I will never go anywhere else. I speaks volumes to be able to say you trust you barber, especially when you have slightly complicated, mixed hair. Jeremy is the best of the best, worth every penny, and is a great person. I always look forward to my appointments with him.

You should visit during the awkward times between Christmas and the new year because the bar is empty but they still have the best music❤️ really enjoyed our time here!

Julian gave a great experience.. I’m a barber from Atlanta and had to check this place out.. welcomed in with a nice glass of Old Fashioned.. get seated in the chair and had some fun conversation and relaxing jazz playing on the speakers.. one of the other barbers did me a favor by taking a picture to capture this relaxing moment.. definitely will be visiting here again when I’m in town.. Great old school feel!

Review of the barber shop. Best haircut hands down. Dylan was super talented and professional. Came in from the hot sun overheating a bit and he made me feel accepted and comfortable the whole time that I could relax and let my worries go in the barber chair. I got probably the best cut off my life so I now know the hype. Worth every penny, even got a refreshing cerveza in the back while I waited. This shop is legit and I can see why Bryce Harper partners with them. 11/10 recommend.

Barber review: awesome haircut with a reasonable (slightly premium) pricing. During COVID they're taking sensible precautions (everyone in masks and eye covering, no shaves) but it's good that they're open and following guidelines. Bookings are required and they've allowing extra time between cuts. Sadly, no drinks from the speakeasy at the back, but it's still worth it to support a cool venture like this.

Blind Barber is a "speak easy" type bar behind a barber shop. Inside, there's about a dozen tables or so. The bar is stocked well, with happy hour between 6-9. The music playing is great, the pours are kind of heavy, and prices aren't too bad. As the night goes on, there's a younger crowd that rolls in to dance. Overall a great experience and would recommend coming in for a drink if you're in the neighborhood.

First of all, this place is a VIBE! Second of all, the bartender Domingo makes the best drinks. His customer service is top tier. Can’t wait to go back

Alyssa D. (aly del vee)

The actual venue I walked right past it lol. That truly makes for a great speakeasy right? It really is pretty inconspicuous if you're not paying attention. The blind barber is actually a barber shop for real, but cross functions as a speakeasy. The images speak for themselves. It is such a cool atmosphere and great time once you get past the barber shop ;)

Oh this is a pretty fun spot. Makes me feel like we're going to a secret speakeasy. They play some nice jams. They had a live DJ playing sounds from the early 2000s and some current sounds when I was there. The crowd was a pretty cool mixture of 20 somethings and early '30s. That's how I remembered it anyway. Drinks weren't too bad. Reasonably priced around $10 to $15. Honestly it gets a little blurry but I had a good time. 🎉🥳🥳🥳

After relocating to NY, I cycled through 5 barbers and hairdressers before finding *my* barber at Blind Barber. The location is swanky and bougie (in the basement of a Barney’s) but the service and prices are down to earth. I’ve come back here to my barber 5+ times and have always been able to book a chair in the early evening. I recommend! 💇‍♂️

G

Very cool , speakeasy drinks are a tad pricey, kool spot to dance and chill, not a spot i recommend for drinks, gets expensive very fast. Parking in the area is tough , especially on weekends

e
edouard schwebel

Speakeasy entrance works well. But too big inside for a Wednesday night >> felt really empty and killed the mood. Good drinks

L

Cool spot to unwind. Cocktails are good here. Kinda hard to get in for guys during the weekends, but what can do you do ? This is NYC.

G
Giselle Jimenez

Drinks were delicious and the music was actually good and had me dancing through the night. At one point there was a touch too much techno for my blood

V
Valentina Pacetti

Nice place, a bit too quiet to be a Saturday night, the bartender was amazing, she prepared amazing cocktails.

D
Dencil Smith

Very nice atmosphere. Warm and comfy. Cocktails are great. Drinks are a little expensive but normal for this area.

S
Simon Hsu

Interesting concept for a speakeasy bar. The cocktails are decent but could be more elaborate. The space could also be well suited for a medium-to-large group.

C
Christian Kaczmarczyk

Great for the late night dancing experience in East Village. The people here are all in it to have a good time, and in no ways pretentious. The DJs here are awesome and can really get the people grooving. Also, the cocktails here are on point and the staff looks according to their theme, a barber shop.

U
Umair Zia

Probably one of the cooler "speakeasy" bars I've been to in the city. The cocktails are solid. It is really a barber shop during day and bar at night. The velvet rope for "exclusivity" is a bit much. Would be 5 stars, if they didn't have a velvet rope exclusive feel at the entrance around 10pm.

A
Adam

Super cool speak easy in a great location. Drinks could be a bit pricey and may require a long wait at the bar, but definitely makes for a fun night out !

K
Kareem Morris

This place was a vibe. You enter into a barber shop that turns into a bar/club. The music was good and it was a good time. For the amount of people that was there, it was really cramped. 4/5 stars

M
Martiño Prada

Cool place, nice atmosphere, good music, they play a bunch of classics, gets tight inside which is great, and too much light. Young, even college, crew though, which was a but if a throw off for us.

R
R R

Wouldn’t really call it a speakeasy as it’s very obvious where the bar is located... besides that, good atmosphere all night long and interesting drink selection. Though it’s definitely on the pricey side.

A
Adam Van Grover

Blind Barber is an experience - a very decent bar and restaurant, with the real emphasis on a good blend of classic and modern men's barbering. The fixed rate deal (drink + haircut) is pretty good - and it certainly makes waiting for your appointment a lot easier. The bar selection is expansive for a barber shop, and comparable, if not better to the bars in the area. Generally positive experience with barbers; efficient and competent. Overall, would recommend it as a novelty experience, and certainly an option for long-term hair care if you're willing to schedule for enough in advance. Blind Barber has certainly done a good job of advertising and promoting, and it is quite well known - this means the staff is pretty professional, but also it is almost always relatively crowded.

T
Tenille Haynes

Great for the mid to late 20s - early 30s crowd. Dance and drink with friends. Does get packed, not for those who like a space from others. The bartenders are awesome. Best whiskey sour I have ever had. I normally find them too sour.

A
Ariana Lavelli

Went to the bar around 10/11 on a Friday night and there was no line (I say that because once we left, there was a very long line). As you may imagine, it's behind the barber shop so you enter through there. We were greeted by 2 lively hosts and were stamped and let in. It was super crowded but we jetted to the bar as quickly as we could. Asked for a tequila drink and a rum drink - bartenders choice - and both were yummy! Music was mostly 90s and 00s r&b and pop throwbacks which we loved! A lot of drunk, young annoying people there too but didn't bother us much when they weren't spilling drinks. I'd go back but not top of the list

A
Anthony Queen

Good drinks but the music was so loud that we had to scream into each other's ears to have a conversation. The music selection was great but I would t recommend it if you're looking for a chill bar to catch up with your friends at.

A
Andrew Orobator

The place had a really cool vibe. It's cool to see a bar tucked away so damn well. Drinks are a little on the pricy side, even for the happy hour special though. With its laid back atmosphere, this is a great place to sit back and chat with friends.

L
Leon Kirkbeck

Good cocktails, but you really want to go here when it's pumping. I've been when it as heaving and it was great - then went when late on a week night when it was pretty quiet - it doesn't have the atmosphere to have a quiet drink and chill out at.

Emmanuel Hesketh
Emmanuel Hesketh

Great pub . An old speak easy that looks and is a barbers at front but inside behind large sliding doors is a great atmosphere

Feeling a drink? Go to “Blind Barber” maybe a haircut on the way out. Happy hour cocktails are $10.

Cool speak easy place in NY! Although the city never sleeps we were here on Wednesday evening after catching a Broadway show but it was pretty empty so that ruined the experience. But seems like a very cool place when crowded! The entrance is through the barbershop 💈

Peter KP
Peter KP

Blind Barber has a really cool setup, definitely one of the better speakeasy vibes around. The smokey carajillo was tasty, but light on the alcohol. Music was great and louder than most speakeasies, and by the end of the night the place basically turned into a nightclub. Fun energy overall.

S B
S B

One of the most iconic speakeasy-style bars in the city. They were doing it before it became a hipster craze. You enter through an unassuming door at the back of the barbershop. Inside is quite roomy compared to other hidden bars in the city. It’s a bit less pretentious than most too, which I personally prefer. Overall a cool place to visit for a cocktail if you’re in the area.

G
Gabrielle Ughetto

This speakeasy bar becomes very crowded on Saturday nights. The place is small, the music is loud, which is good if you want to dance at some point of the night.

L
Loren Appin

Cool speak easy where you walk through a barber shop, so it's more about the novelty of doing that than anything. Drinks and scene is typical to any popular nyc speak easy (i.e. good), so if you're into them, try this one out!

A
A P

happy hour here is cool. 6pm - 9pm . just get here at 6 if you want to eat and have a private little booth. after 10pm this turns into a cool little dance club type of scene. Get over yourselves. THis is a speakeasy with a club feel loud music. I didnt even get in, the guy at the front said "were only taking people with reservations" whats so great in here.

E
Elle J

Probably one of my fave places in the East Village. We came here on a Friday night, breezed right in without a problem - trying to act cool like I wasn't super impressed by the pull away wall at the back of the Barber shop (I was). The vibe is pretty much what you'd expect from a cool speakeasy; dim lighting, little booths to tuck yourself away into, a decent dance floor, cool tunes. Only downside was the wait at the bar, I mean c'mon fellas! I don't want to wait nearly twenty minutes just to get a drink... I'm parched from dancing and I want something delightful with all the whiskey and all the magic of whatever cocktail you can make with that, not having to wait being 'bros' ordering an ass load of beer.

A
A. George Palios

It's one of those "secret" speakeasy bars that's hip right now. Spoiler alert: if you have a bouncer and a rope line, it ruins the secret vibe. Chill place inside with okay music and average priced drinks. The bartenders could stand to be a little more enthused and efficient.

A
Anastasia Shorr

Cool underground bar. I was here for an event and felt that the whole ambiance went very well with the east village vibe. To start, it was super cool to walk into a bar through a barber shop. Bouncers seemed very on point in keeping the bar doors closed to keep the street crowd from peaking into a secret bar. The waiters were nice and dressed very east village, along with the hipster crowd hanging around the bar. A man at the lounge table rolled cigars in front of you, one of which you could keep for yourself. Overall, if you are looking for a not-too-crowded speakeasy, it's worth checking out.

F
Fil Zembowicz

Decent drinks, but the place was a bit too crowded and the music was so loud that I had a hard time talking to people. The people out front also take their job way to seriously -- sure, this is a speakeasy, but you don't have to ask 20 questions before letting someone inside.

S
Sheneil Black

First time going there, place was loud, packed and drinks were sub par. We spent maybe 30 minutes there. Another DJ had just gotten there and turned up the music but before you could barely hear above the chatter.

D
Daaman Yagnik

Cool concept. Enter through a barbershop...but that's the extent of the good. The floor was super sticky, can't dance if you're glued to the floor. Music was stuck on regaeton for the longest time...might be personal opinion but we didn't go to a Latin Club. Change up the music every few songs, pls!

P
Pinky Chan

3.5 ish. This place is alright dependent on what day/time you come in. The obvious Saturday nights get crowded as crazy ... I would bounce real quick once I see a riot like one I witnessed. Came again to give it one more try on a Monday early evening and it was really quiet. I was surprised we even got a seat. Bartenders are OK and drinks are OK ... The cool factor is just coming through the shop but other than that, its alright.

T
Timur Khalikov

Great idea, interior and bar design. The DJ however was of very low quality, extremely sudden and random transitions, track selection that didn’t seem to have any theme or be well received by the visitors. The crowd didn’t seem to match the style of the bar either.

Rangsey Keo
Rangsey Keo

Drinks were good, but I've had better. Went at about 8:30-9pm on a Thursday, so it wasn't too crouded. We got seats at the bar fairly quick. They were setting up for the dancing as we left with the DJ all ready at his little station. I don't think I would have wanted to stick arouns for that anyway, but that's just me. Others may like that. Wasn't too speakeasy like with the door leading from the barber shop to the bar was constantly ajar, and at about 9-9:30pm, the bounce was stationed outside like it was a club. I thought the point of speakeasy was that it wasn't recognizable from the outside as a bar or lounge?

J
Joey Trombino

Show a picture of the haircut you want. I explained it, but got a way more extreme fade / taper than anticipated. Otherwise cool people and atmosphere.

E
Ewen Wyness

Has the potential to be super cool, but as other reviewers mention, the speakeasy vibe is ruined by having bouncers and a roped-off entrance. Atmosphere inside was very much Meatpacking. Music selection was bizarre. All in all made for a somewhat anus experience. So they've embarrassed themselves there.

D
Dareem David

Extremely overcrowded. Do not recommend if you are looking for a location where there’s enough room to actually dance. Really good music/DJ though

N
Nicholas Caldwell

Cool place but the one bartender is extremely rude shes the only female serving tonight

K
Kevin Mazzella

I came in for a shave. The gentlemen who shaved me was a nice guy who attempted to be attentive to my needs. Unfortunately this was far from a legitimate shave. I came home and had lots of hair on my face still and it was evident by some of his remarks he never had done a traditional shave. This is not entirely his fault as far as I’m concerned. Management needs to set a protocol and standard for their shaves. The tools, the quality all not premium. The barber at the chair to my left was yapping on about their personal life. I’m not very happy with the price of the service for the outcome. I will not be returning.

David K
David K

Not a bad haircut but seem more focused on the speakeasy bar than the barbershop. They don’t take walk-ins and their scheduling website is not user friendly. Even after scheduling online there was still issues. Tipping is only Venmo or cash. They don’t do shaves.

N
Nijane J

Wow what a terrible service! Please do yourself a favour and stay away from This place. It was so crowded, service was so slow and the employees working there were biased. We came from Toronto and we would never come again. Save your money elsewhere !

C
Carissa Orence

They automatically charge you 18% tip + 2% service fee AND there’s still a tip options when you pay. Always ask for a receipt! This is highway robbery.

A
Abby

Someone stole my wallet out of my purse here and I felt them do it so when I confronted them they made a big scene and I could tell they passed it behind their back to the bar and pretended they “found” it earlier and all my cash was missing. People who work there are in on the scam be careful.

D
Daniel B

I'd give this a 0 if I could. Great job by the discriminatory practices by their door. On a Saturday night I'm heading in with my girlfriend and the girl managing the door 1.) disregards us when we're next online for the group behind us and 2.) when she finally attends to us says that they are only "accepting reaervations at this time" - they just let countless people in ahead of us, at no point in time asked us whether or not we actually had reservations and gave attitude when I asked whether or not the 15 or so people she let in before us all had reservations. Never going back. Thanks for giving me a place to scratch off my list.

M
Michael Nuriel

Cool place but the bartenders have zero tolerance for any questions, and believe me when I say I'm not the annoying type... Felt almost like I need to kiss their hand for them to even look at me...

H
Huy Nguyen

Worse bar I've been to in a long time. Door guy hassled me for not having a reservation, after finally being let in and hassled by a secondary door guy, I found that the bar wasn't even full and drinks were highly over priced. If you're in the neighborhood looking for an honest drink and not getting hassled by door guys that don't want your business do yourself a favor and walk the The B side a few blocks away. If only yelp allowed you to rate a business with zero stars.

S
Samira Gutierrez

Went two times — first time it was on a weekend and packed, super hot and uncomfortable. Decided to give it a second try and went when it was a little less busy… there were two roaches crawling on the bar!! So disgusting.

W

DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR CREDIT CARD. They cannot be trusted. Do not keep an open tab. I was there with a very responsible group of people last Friday night, and two of us had to fight for an hour to get our cards back. Your bank has no way to fight charges if you give them your card willingly. But the bar will charge what they want and plan on you forgetting it until the next day. Basically they are thieves and told me to calm down while they continued to serve more people and rake in more money. Awful customer service.

Spending hundreds of $ but trying to buy more drink then the host acted all aggressive. We might have stepped on the wrong place but a nice warning or something might be better. She was just so aggressive while we just wanted to order drink. Well not for us then. No more coming back. Money spent elsewhere. Nyc is full of good bars. Ps: the host was the girl with tied hair. Well she said dont stand on my face but well nobody did. We did not care about her just wanted to order drink and spend more. But well they dont want more money that s their problem.

I never had a problem getting into this bar, I just didn't like the bartender and how you have to wait a while to get a drink. I think that the service could be a lot better. I will say they play amazing music in here.

The place was so cold because of the air conditioned that we asked if they could increase a bit the temperature. The answer of the guy at the door was that it was cold because covid cases are spiking… Most ridiculous answer I heard. We left immediatly because without a coat you could not stand the temperature. Too bad because this place is nice.

Terrible and rude bartenders, waiting staff extremely uncourteous, too crowded and you get pushed around, 3 glasses broke while I was there. The DJ was ok but the music kept being interrupted with static. Definitely would not recommend going here on the weekend as they flood too many people in and have terrible service

Yesterday we had an awful experience at this place. I was with my boyfriend and a group of friends dancing in a circle when the owner of this place almost started a fight with my boyfriend because I had my bag at the floor. I understand that a bar has the right to have their own rules but what I don't understand is why the owner of a place can act as a complete drunken idiot with his clients. We are not going to this place again and we do not recommend it to anybody

Nobody inside. I had to shout so someone came inside from the bar. There was nobody there . Two employees were inside there playing chess and another came out to tell it is fully booked and without reservation the next appointment will be tomorrow. Wonderful working moral.

Lady at the door was extremely rude to people just trying to go to a bar at night, telling my friends and I to “get the fk outta here” and “go to another bar” or “come back in 30” while singing and dancing in front of us even though our other friends were already inside. She told us we had to buy a table to get in for $500 at 12:30am???? Just completely pretentious and rude vibes. Also repeatedly told us it was too packed inside despite us seeing at least 40+ people leave in front of our eyes. Never going to this place ever again, friends inside even said it was not that great.

Complete rip off. They’ll charge a 18+2% gratuity + service fee on watered down mixed drinks when the place is empty LOL. Atmosphere is a total hit or miss. Won’t be coming back. ✌🏻

came in on a friday night around 10 and literally got groped by the big bouncer at the second door. he was acting weird and rude, didn’t say a word to any of us, and was extremely handsy when patting everybody down. the guy at the front door who checked our IDs was cool but the second bouncer was tweaking. can’t even comment on the drinks or bar service because we were all so weirded out by the unprofessional behavior from that dude that we left immediately. it was pretty dead when we came in though, only a few people sitting around.

Do not go here. You have to apparently be American with a passport or drivers license (physical copy) to enter. Absolutely ridiculous. I came in with an EU residency permit as proof of age and identification and was denied. They requested physical copies of passport and state ID despite being an American citizen (which btw doesn’t event matter). I showed my passport and drivers license electronically but was still denied. Absolutely ridiculous bouncer and service. I’d stay away to avoid any discrimination against non-US citizens.
