Great service and stunning food. Best food I have had in New York thus far. Choose one of their multi course specials and literally every single course was amazing. Be prepared to spend some money, but it's well worth it. We averaged about 155 per person (with at least one adult beverage).
Known for being a deletable Chinese restaurant in London and in multiple locations around the world, Hakkasan brings its great flair to New York! Hakkasan quickly became one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in NYC. It should be at the top of your list if you are seeking sophisticated high-quality Cantonese cooking. Upon entering through the door to the restaurant, a walk down a long hallway transports visitors with a spa-like atmosphere. Eventually leading to an artistically designed maze-like dining area, guests of the restaurant have arrived into the venue of a flavorful culinary experience. The elegant menu features sumptuous items, and there seemingly is no way to make a wrong selection. The staff are well-versed and will charmingly guide customers through the menu. And, the cocktails are known for their unique flair, which perfectly pairs with the food menu. The food, drinks, staff, and decor are all excellent here -- 5-stars for each of those categories. Yes, this is a place I will go back to and will do so often.
They didn't have a table available but said we could eat at the bar, and it made the experience **so** much better. Our server was friendly, helpful and helped with our choices. His input was the icy on the cake. The duck salad was absolutely delicious (which we shared for 2 people) and had 2 small dishes each - all extremely tasty. Pricing is on the higher side but definitely worth it and expected. Highly recommend - particularly for 2 at as a bar side meal.
Great restaurant, the atmosphere was perfect, great service with personal touch and superb food. We’ve tried many different dishes and each of the dishes was great. It is not expensive - I highly recommend this restaurant! Do not miss it if you are in Manhattan nyc! Thank you guys!
I do not eat asian food at all. I was actually upset my husband brought me here because he knows I do not like this food. BUT!! This food was AMAZING!! I mean from appetizers, entree and desert. Everything was delicious. I wanted to order to go, that's how amazing it was. I highly recommend this place.
Nice upscale modern Chinese/Asian fusion restaurant. This place is for a special occasion, it’s expensive but worth the money. It has earned Michelin stars a few years ago, but I did not see one from the last 2-3 years. The ambiance is very upscale. The food and service are professional and friendly. They have a good set of tasting menus and are able to accommodate vegetarian preferences. They also have excellent cocktails and wine selections. The deserts were well presented.
Great Modern Asian. Pretty central location, about 5 min walk from Times Square. The restaurant is very big with an amazing design! Bar is impressive with special cocktails. Food is quite expensive, but you can find very nice dishes and all in all the value for money is good.
Good place to spend time at bar and definitely you feel good if “Aldo” Bar tender is serving you and perfect recommendation of drinks of your taste buds are. Thanks to Danny Lee (assistant general manager) taken very well care for vegans & Vegetarians.
This is the place to go because the atmosphere is so excellent and the food were delicious. Some of meals are a little expensive but whatever we ordered were worth the price. Service is basically great but it sometimes takes a time to serve drinks.
I first got to know Hakkasan in London but I have to say the NYC location exceeded all expectations. Definitely worth the price! Food is exquisite, service is outstanding. If you're ever in NYC, Miami or London this is a must go-to restaurant. The menu slightly varies according to the location, but the food is always top-notch. Highly recommend the dim sums and pepper beef.
A perfect date spot if you are near times square, bryant park or port authority. good food, excellent ambience, good staff, excellent service. Vegetarian dimsum and chocolate dumplings are must try.
I am so coming back again for those dumplings and beef! The fruit platter was super fresh too. On the picture you can see scallops, beef and fruit platter. Great trendy place.
Cool essentric atmosphere, nice service, incredible food and amazing old fashioned cocktail. Strongly recommended.
Amazing experience, great service. Loved the food and cocktails at the bar. Must visit if you are in the area.
We had a great night there. The food was very good and desserts were amazing, the staff was really nice and the place very stylish, a bit noisy though. A great experience overall.
A lovely posh place for dinner. Very delicious food, great customer service and ambiance. A bit cold in there though.
Loved everything there, the environment, the staff and of course the food! The duck was to die for! Crunchie on the outside and just deliciousness inside. Definitely worth the visit!
This place gets 10 out of 5 stars, best dining and mixology experience I've had in a very long time. Everything was beyond expectations.
Very good Americanized Chinese food with impeccable service. Don't let the nightclub like atmosphere fool you, perfectly able to carry on a conversation across the table.
Epic food, flawless service, great cocktails (the smoky negroni is a must), perfect environment make this my favourite hakkasan location (I've been to 4) and favourite restaurant
Had the best birthday meal. Great food, cocktails and atmosphere.
I love this place. spring onions and Egg Fried rice is the best.
Delicious food that makes for a great eat pre/post-Broadway show. (Or between, in our case.) Shareable plates were a winner, although the menu is a little intimidating in its scope. My gin cocktail was divine.
Food was delicious, the atmosphere was perfect, our sommelier Garrett was very knowledgeable and paired our wine perfectly to the meal
The food, service, and environment was great. As usual, the Hakkasan experience was on point.
Spectacular!! The service here is amazing and on point! The food was delicious!
Amazing experience and greatest food served in 7 seas!
Fantastic, one of a kind, made by true chef - artist food.
Went here for my birthday and it was great. They do make you wait a bit at the bar before, even if you have a reservation. Sometimes the wait can be short and sometimes it can be long. They have an assortment of Asian inspired cocktails and a good wine list. They also have a good amount of vegetarian options. I really like their vegetarian soy chicken in black pepper sauce. If you like a bit of spice, this is definitely a good choice.
Upscale, trendy, excellent Cantonese restaurant. Nice decor and overall vibe although perhaps a bit on too dimly lit for some. Great specialty drinks and the food is both visually stunning and delicious. Service and staff are top notch and they take the time to fully describe any of their dishes. A bit pricey but, being Manhattan, that's relative. If you like this style of cuisine and you're in the mood for something special, would highly recommend paying this place a visit.
I dined there a few weeks ago the staff and service was amazing and the food was delicious! No wonder my friends would always brag about this place. My friends and I were visiting NYC for the first time and we were so excited to try this place. We were having a good time until the table next to us was sat. It was a couple with a kid. I myself am a mom, so I know how hard it can sometimes be to dine with a kid but I am also aware of others. The couple’s kid would not stop yelling and making loud noises. We kindly ask the server to please let the couple know to see if they can please calm the boy. I was beyond disappointed when I read a comment below saying they had a terrible experience because the staff was plain rude and inconsiderate towards children. Well lady, I was the one that complained to the waiter. No one wants to sit through a nice dinner hearing your kid scream.
Wonderful place. More of a fusion, and modern, but also traditional Chinese restaurant. Please try the dumpling set as the appetizer. Their seafood was amazing too. Most importantly (food was exceptional and stood out), the interior..of this place is very mystic, dark, but light and blue oceanic, with traditional Chinese interior. Great place for special occasion!
This is the place to go for a special occasion or just an out of the ordinary dining experience. The Chinese food is excellently prepared and is extra delicious. What makes this restaurant different is the impeccable service and the sophisticated decor complete with designer lighting effects. All this adds up to a superior meal but a hefty price tag. This is not your typical local Chinese food joint but definitely a cut above and a memorable experience.
Very nice place, tasty dishes (rather on the salty side), lovely decor and professional service. In the final analysis you’re paying top dollar for very well-prepared basic Chinese food. We had the $98 tasting menu for 2 people. Lots of dishes, more than we could eat. Enjoyed everything, just pricey. Second visit 1/2020 also delicious and good service
Spectacular food. The PEKING DUCK is must try. Absolutely gorgeous flavors, crispy skin, juicy meat. . The only reason why i am not giving it 5star is the soup - the chicken hot and sour soup did not have much heat in it. The sourness was perfect but it needed a bit of heat and needed more bits of chicken in it. And the lotus root stir fry needed seasoning. Very bland. The sweet and sour pork was absolutely perfect. Tender juicy pork pieces with cloud ear mushrooms were scrumptious. The crispy cod was a delight. Crunchy skin, soft flaky fish - was perfect. The egg and shallot fried rice was fluffy and eggy. Perfect combination to go with the rest.
Michelin / Cantonese restaurant. The second part is a little controversial since it is more of a modern Chinese fusion style restaurant. Dim Sum platter, although the attempt to illustrate few flavors at a time, showed me the insufficiency in flavoring. Overall dim sum has been given flavors too heavy. Pipe duck and Singapore noodle is authentic and flavorful, delicious! Dessert is way too Westernized for a Chinese themed restaurant.
In search of the best Peking Duck to be served in NYC, I chose Hakkasan for dinner on a Saturday night 2 weeks ago. I won't say it was disappointing, but it didn't satisfy my idea of what it should have been. The entire duck was listed on the menu at 98 dollars. Ok. Bring it. It was a small plate of duck meat shavings. It was good, but , it wasn't 98 dollars good, and nothing about the presentation suggested "entire duck." We were greeted and treated warmly as possible by our server, so that was a plus. I had changed our reservation time more than once, and they weren't caught up with"Open Table" online. But they still accommodated us without a lengthy wait. And the bar tender whipped up a pretty good"Lemon Drop" martini and proceeded to deliver it to me even after we were seated very quickly. It wasn't crowded, but still NYC restaurants can be a bit pretentious at times. If you are interested in an intimate, upscale atmosphere, and upscale prices to go with it, an exotic menu, and a pleasant wait staff, this is a good choice. I enjoyed the lighting. Look carefully for the restaurant name, even when you are standing directly in front of the place. The front door wasn't obvious to us.
Went here for a team lunch.. great atmosphere, ambience, very good service.. food quality is very good but taste is Ok.. my friends said duck was really good, and sea bass was good too.. I ordered chicken clay pot.. chicken was really saggy..did not like it much.. I also heard bar is usually very good.. I am really impressed with lunch though.
Oh man...gott try this Chinese fusion restaurant. Came here b4 Broadway show..perfect, ordered a bunch of stuff and left happy. Extra happy if you have the chocolate dessert after the waiter pours hot tea over it! yum!
The food was great, but expensive. The quality is good and the ambiance of the place is very nice. I loved the space, the location is not good. There is black door where you enter and you feel safe, but getting to the restaurant the area was not very good and didn't feel safe walking out of the street. It is near times square though so if you are with a group it shouldn't be a problem!
Amazing experience at Hakkasan. Almost everything we ordered was fantastic. Fried dumpling platter, Hakkasan noodles, stir fried pepper beef and claypot chicken were fantastic. Flavorful and served promptly, I would definitely recommend going here for a great fusion Chinese dinner. For desert we ordered black forest which was good, but I'll recommend eating main course here and probably heading out somewhere else for desert. Must visit!
Pricey but excellent Cantonese. Definitely get any duck dishes here. Always get the dim sum platter!
This restaurant is a little over-priced in my opinion (compared to others in the area and for what is offered), but they have great knowledge about allergies and I've almost always had excellent service here. Their menu is almost always delicious and perfect for those without any limitations (they unfortunately aren't great about offering modifications despite being knowledgeable about allergens). The atmosphere is dark and you have to walk down several hallways regardless of where you're seated, so it feels like you're not in the middle of Times Square, which is nice. They've also got a great cocktail and dessert selection. It's worth going at least once for the service and ambiance. I've been for both lunch and dinner and had relatively consistent experiences.
An upscale, hip experience. They let us in despite being the only ones in casual clothes and had us sit by the bar. Still got full table service, which was excellent. The food was unique and good, but a little underwhelming. You can get better dim sum and street-fare Chinese in plenty of little hole in the walls. Perhaps the more intricate courses are this place's strength.
The food was good, but I think it's a little over-priced despite that. Service was efficient but we found it a bit haughty and cool. I don't like the tight side-by-side seating to be honest - not very intimate. It's trendy and stylish but I think it loses the focus of food - just a bit like an up-market bar with quite dominant music, but doing expensive good food. I suppose it's just trying to be a bit trendy for my liking really
We tried the “Lotus” vegetarian tasting menu for 2 which was a mistake. The dimsums were delicious but the salad was abysmal - like something you would find in a hospital cafeteria. The rice, noodles, and aubergine dish were good but the entree with sugarsnap peas was bland and lacked flavor. I can’t believe they charge you $88 per person only to serve you chopped fruits for dessert (the portion in the picture was for 2 people!). If I decide to eat here again, I will just order individual items off the menu.
This place used to be better. I had great memories of the ambience and the food, but now they seem to be gone. Waiters are nice, but rushed. The food isn't bad, but far from memorable, and in no way justifying the michelin-star price. Our table wasn't perfectly clean, we were rushed, had to constantly get up to get our water from the ice bucket because no one would do it for us, one of the chopsticks was so old and used it broke in two while eating, and the experience was overall very underwhelming, and highly costly. Can't recommend it.
Ok so there were two of us before seeing Hamilton and for some reason I thought it was a good idea to have a ton of Chinese food first. Like stuff myself with Chinese food. We had the multi course meal that was like over $100 per person. Not sure why I did that. We had the option with the pepper steak. That was a standout. We had the dim sum platter.. creative but kind of bland. We had some kind of fried thing that came alongside that- it might have been calamari. The shrimp that came later was flavorful. My son downed all of the snap peas. The desserts were interesting. There was something resembling an egg.. but it was bland. It was so creative and had such potential but the taste was just not flavorful. I am such a sad reviewer because I really appreciate effort and want to love everything but I feel this meal needed more flair. I had something akin to a Moscow mule with an Asian name.. that was just ok too. :-/ if you go here note that the entrance is unassuming.. we walked right by it the first time. It might sound weird to mention but I appreciated that the bathroom was really clean.
A supremely silly place. They're young, they're beautiful, they're rich, and they're in here. The best reason to come here is to see the Entitled in their milieu, doing their thing. Sit at the bar, order one of the (surprisingly good and not ridiculously expensive) cocktails, or some other (ridiculously expensive though) drink, and people-watch. It's great fun, but can get kind of skeevy after a while (there is so much Entitled Behavior that one can take after all...) Oh, the food ain't bad, btw, if it was about 50% of the price, I'd probably be here more frequently...
Tldr: not authentic Chinese food and not good value for the money. It seems like their chefs rely on the ingredient, they really didn’t show much in terms of the cooking skills.
