Opinions de Hamilton's Bakery and Cafe New York
Over my price range so rarely order but when I do, I love it. Their burgers are amazing. The place is good for kids during the day; lunch or brunch. At dinnertime and later the place takes on more if a bar vibe which is a large part of what it is, after all. And I wouldn't bring kids then although people do.
Had a nice experience, came at about 1pm on a Sunday for brunch, ordered the 3-egg omelette and the grass-fed beef burger. The food was good but could be better. I especially liked the potatoes and side salad that came with my omelette. The reason this is 5 stars is that Meg our server was super sweet! Would come back.
Really enjoy my burger and opted for a delicious side salad. Ryan, our server, was super attentive and very helpful with choosing what I should order. The 80’s playlist was fantabulous. I would highly recommend checking this place out!
Fantastic for families! I recommend Hamilton's if you are looking for nice neighborhood restaurant that you can bring your kids to and hangout with friends and family. Good food and drinks, all the kids at our tables loved their meals. While the dads enjoyed their brew, there was even a pineapple beer (or cider, check the menu) and it tasted damn good! I was there for brunch, definitely worth it and the prices were decent. Good experience 👍🏿👏🏿
Even on a busy Mother’s Day brunch (we sat comfortably outside), they kept a good eye on things. The Hamilton Royale cocktail was great, and I had a delicious steak and eggs. All the food at the table was fantastic, and kids were accommodated – the kids menu was short, but the burger did the trick for a picky 5yo.
This neighborhood staple, with thoughtful staff, takes the time and care in making excellent dishes, fresh and creative salads, great beers on tap, and an excellent burger. They’re also well known for their date cake dessert. And for good reason.
Excellent food and very kind and accommodating staff! We had to change our reservation last minute during the height of Sunday brunch and they were very kind about it. Absolutely loved the tomato fennel soup—so fresh and savoury!!
I love this place. Such a warm cozy atmosphere, and the food is simple but well-made. On different occasions I’ve had the grilled cheese with tomato, a simple salad, and the burger with potato wedges, each with a glass of wine. I really recommend.
Hamilton's Bloody Mary is the bomb. They use spicy pickled juice, which adds a nice twist (even when you order it as a virgin drink). I'm fond of their brunch menu and especially love the beef hash and eggs. Their bread pudding is also delicious on a cold day. The staff is pretty chill and friendly. Their bar tenders appear to be knowledgeable and offer quick service. Sometimes I attend Happy Hour for the cheaper eats. Try the pretzel! The atmosphere is enjoyable and laid back. This is a family environment. I often see children from the neighborhood dining here. The bathrooms are clean and the kitchen looks well kept from a distance.
Quintessential neighborhood corner eatery. I love it here. The atmosphere and the service is just as warm as the date cake, which is one of my favorite things on the menu. I became familiar with Hamiltons during the lockdown. Their food delivered in a fashion that is hard to beat. Their level of intentionality is unmatched. I highly recommend a visit. If you can't visit, place an order. You won't be disappointed.
The food was delicious. My steak was cooked perfectly, so much so that the butter knife was sufficient. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the potatoes were just right. I cannot find one solitary issue with the quantity, quality, or presentation of my meal. The server could have been more attentive but other than that, this place was a surprising jem.
My boyfriend and I come here for brunch all the time. We live right down the street and were so excited to discover it. We've never had a problem waiting for service or being seated. The staff is very nice, very attentive and very good at answering questions about the beer/wine and the food. AND THE FOOD. I'm not a huge beer drinker and for me wine is just wine, so it all comes down to the food for me, and it's sooooo good. Best brunch I've had in years. The dinner menu is pretty good too, but I keep coming back for that brunch! I hope this place sticks around. Excited to see how their menu will evolve over time.
Solid menu. Things to try: Vegetarian Orzo with Goat Cheese Biscuits and Gravy Chicken with Polenta Kale Salad Garlic Mashed Potatoes Bread Pudding w/ crème anglaise You seriously can't go wrong with anything at this place, their cocktails are awesome and service is always great. Highly recommended!
One of the best places in the area. THE BEST BREAD PUDDING ever. Filling and I felt like my dollar went along way. The staff was great and it’s such a nice chill vibe in there. If it was closer to me, I’d go all the time
The appetizer biscuits were delicious and the dinner special that I tried was one of the best shrimp tacos ever. Also the cocktail was just right. Service was on point making this another great night out!
Enjoyed dining outside for Sunday brunch. Brunch menu is nice departure from typical buffet brunches. Service was excellent, and food proved to be very well prepared for everyone in our party. Recommend arriving early for Sunday brunch as weather improves as I can imagine this restaurant gets busy around noon. Definitely would eat here again.
Delicious food, great staff and fast service. Portions are great sizes too as I had some leftovers when I usually finish my meal. Their cocktails are great and we'll balanced. Gently on the pricier side but definitely worth it for an occasion or deserved night out with a friend or significant other.
Spicy chicken soup was so good on a cold day.My girl and I came all the way from Queens and the trip was worth it. Quesadilla came with the right toppings and their squeezed orange juice was sweet and fresh 😮💨
Amazing burgers, great beer selection, friendly staff. I enjoy the wine they've selected and my mom, who's vegetarian, always finds something delicious. There's a nice little front patio when the weather turns warm. Kids are welcome, I never feel like a pariah when I take them with...a solid kids menu too. A fabulous local, go-to place.
I just can’t get enough of Hamilton’s. Every time I come to visit my friend we always must come here. The combinations and selection of tastes and textures. I had Monday Muscles in white wine, with a side salad and a glass of wine. I was savory and salty. The fresh muscles tasted ocean sweetness. The garlic toast was perfect and crisp and I dipped in the sauce to my delight. When I got the bill my amazing meal was also economical.
Cute restaurant that had super cozy pub style food. A great place to catch a quick dinner after work or an afternoon at the park.
My Cobb salad was excellent. I eat a lot of Cobb salad as it is my go to dish. This salad was great. The chicken was perfectly seasoned. The bacon was nice and crispy. The avocado was perfect along with egg, lettuce, tomatoes, and blue cheese
Hamilton's is one of my go-to places in Windsor Terrace/Kensington! Great service, good menu, with something for everyone. Everything that I have here has always been very good. Great beer choices. The outdoor seating setup is wonderful! This is a neighborhood favorite for everyone I know.
Our family considers ourselves regulars ! We come here for brunch, lunch, dinner, and we even celebrated my birthday here twice. It’s always delicious, the service is fantastic, and there’s always something fun to try on the specials menu. Love stopping by for a guaranteed good meal! Try the biscuit with the honey almond butter if you’re in a sweet mood, and you can’t go wrong with any dessert - make sure to leave room! The shrimp and grits are amazing, and the Reuben sandwich is soo filling. I love the artichoke salad with grilled chicken for lunch or dinner- I didn’t think I could be passionate about a salad but I really am. The kale salad is great too. There are many great things on the menu and so in the spirit of honesty, I usually don’t go for the Mac and cheese as other things are better. The cheese quesadillas if you’re in a cheesy mood are my recommendation. The mussels are so good with extra toast to share, preferably with the tomato broth. My sister loves the steak and gets it every time with extra mashed potatoes. We prefer the mashed potatoes to the potato wedges as a side. The salmon is amazing as well. I can go on about anything on the menu as I’ve sampled just about everything!
Friendly staff and service , is a gem in the neighborhood. Excellent for brunch , dinner
Great place to have a bite to eat! The staff was very nice and thr food was fresh
I stumbled upon this spot and got lunch. I got the crispy artichoke and arugula salad with grilled chicken and my partner got the veggie burger. The salad blew my mind.. genuinely the best salad I’ve ever had. The details of the flavor profile was immaculate. The veggie burger also got a great review. A few weeks later I went back with some friends and we all got the cheese burger. The side salad was phenomenal. Id believe it if you told me a Michelin star chef was back there. The burger itself was also insane. It was a handcrafted patty with amazing flavor. Chipotle aioli was an awesome touch. If you’re in the area, definitely go. If you’re not in the area, you’re missing out. Last but not least, the service was amazing. I don’t have any names but the service was 10/10. Friendly, efficient, happy. Great place.
We were in Brooklyn for a family visit and stopped at Hamilton's to get a bite to eat before the drive home. A very enjoyable experience all around. I asked the server about the Reuben sandwich and he said it was one of the best on the menu. I have to say I agree. Hamilton's Reuben was one of the best if not "the best" I've had. My wife's burger was delicious as well. They know how to sauté onions at Hamiltons!! I'd definitely recommend. Friendly service, quick delivery of delicious food and an all around great vibe and energy. We'll be back next time!
This unassuming gem defies the conventions of casual dining with a culinary experience that is both refined and deeply comforting. From the moment one enters, the ambiance strikes a harmonious balance between warmth and sophistication—ambient lighting, understated decor, and an attentive yet unobtrusive staff create an inviting atmosphere without pretension. The menu, though approachable, reveals a thoughtful curation of flavors and textures. Each dish is executed with precision, evidencing a kitchen where craftsmanship is paramount. Beverage offerings are commendable, with a selection of artisanal sodas that complement the fare without overshadowing it. Desserts are not an afterthought; the flowerless chocolate cake, in particular, was a masterclass in balance—bright, rich, and utterly satisfying. What elevates this establishment beyond its peers is its commitment to consistency and authenticity. It is a place where care is evident in every detail, and where diners are made to feel not merely accommodated, but genuinely welcomed. In an age of overhyped trends and fleeting dining fads, this restaurant stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of thoughtful, honest food served with integrity.
I went November 29, 2020 - outdoor dining setup was great. They have heat lamps over your table and plexiglass and space separating the tables. I had the grilled chicken sandwich for lunch and it was so good, better than I expected! Had Bread Pudding for dessert and also very good, would recommend both.
Perfectly cheery atmosphere, friendly staff, excellent food. I’ll definitely return here!
I've mapped the quickest route to this faraway gem. The restaurant takes extra steps for customers. Staff members show uncommon helpfulness. The food quality matches the staff excellence. I willingly endorse staff this attentive.
People don't stop talking about this restaurant for good reason. I'm completely at ease at the Hamilton's. The workers are gracious and kind. The kitchen produced better results than expected. We'll make this place a regular stop.
A Perfect Graduation Celebration at Hamilton’s We brought a huge, mixed-age group to Hamilton’s after graduation, and everything about the experience was exceptional. Georgia, the owner, was incredibly attentive and professional—she worked with us ahead of time to split our party across multiple tables, thoughtfully plan for a rain contingency, and make sure every detail was smooth. Her warmth and organization made a big day feel relaxed and joyful. The food was outstanding—something for every palate. From classic bar and grill favorites to beautifully prepared scallops and seasonal specials, everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Hamilton’s strikes the perfect balance: a true neighborhood eatery with flair, creativity, and iconic charm. We’re so glad it’s in the neighborhood and we were able to share it with friends and family. A gem.
Had brunch there. It was cold, but on a good day it would have been nice even to eat outside. Very nice staff and good food. The brunch menu was good. I hear the burgers are good here too. Update: I had the Ruben sandwich with potato wedges and it was great! Still more things to try, but so far everything is good.
This is my updated review, as I've now been living in Kensington for over a year. Hamilton's has become my go-to brunch thought. I've gone through favorites, the huevos rancheros, this swiss breakfast and the eggs benedict are always phenomenal. My eggs are perfectly poached, and the only thing I can ever complain about is asking for more pico de gallo. The soju bloody Mary is the best bloody Mary in the neighborhood. Really can't be beat. Everyone is very nice. And I've almost never had a bad experience here. If you stop by and there are seats, I would recommend sitting down and having a meal.
I had to make an edit to my original review....Pretty nice neighborhood bar. Great food and service. Had my first Bloody Mary which was AWESOME! I have been coming back for brunch and dinner and each time with a delicious Bloody Mary. Everything I have had thus far has been great. Highly recommend this place to anyone who lives or visits the area!
Solid neighborhood spot. Beer selection hits alot of styles and we go for a beer and lunch outside often. For food, the burger is always good with bacon and cheddar, dinner specials are never bad, I just wish they had fries. They do potato wedges which are really good but they just aren't fries.
Reuben sandwich is excellent the burgers are also excellent. The medium rare steak was more rare than medium. And the dessert was delivered way after the coffee was put on the table. Definitely eat there if you can. Also, the staff is very friendly.
Nice neighborhood restaurant. My burger was nice and juicy, though the salad was in need of seasoning. My husband had the huevo rancheros, which he enjoyed after asking for a side of pico de gallo (the amount that came in the dish was a sort of too little).
Pretty good beer selection. The food isn't bad, although not amazing. Atmosphere is kind of off. Not quite sure why, but the decor just doesn't appeal to me, I don't think. They have outdoor seating in the summer which is really nice.
Good food, a little on the pricy end for what it Is but not excessively so. Choices are good, as are drinks. Good neighborhood spot. Nice outside tables by the restaurant although the ones in the street are at an odd slant. Dec 2022 ate outside and they have nice heaters over the tables. Got windy and some of the sides were blowing but it was nice.
Great place. I sat outside and the food was delicious. My only complaint is that the waiter was fairly slow and didn't come around near enough. Really nice guy though, very friendly. Menus are changed throughout the day with breakfast, brunch, dinner, and bar menu. Bit confusing, but delicious offerings.
I get it, it is a local place and it is needed. The food is ok, but considering the price and that it is a local place it should be much better. Mussels were tiny and tasteless as was the sauce. Biscuit used to be amazing but was now dry.Burger was dry. I'd like to support them...but this was my 3rd time back and after a great first visit it has been two disappointing visits. I want them to succeed and I realize everyone has staffing issues, so will try once again...
Very cute restaurant and the brunch was delicious! I had to send my eggs back because they were over cooked, but 2nd time was the charm!
My husband, son, dog and I shared a lovely outdoor table. Our server, Katie, was sweet and efficient. The food was underwhelming at best. We shared a large mussels, which were overcooked and in an under-reduced broth. And served with a teaspoon! We also had a very, very greasy Reuben with excellent potato wedges. My son had a cod and shrimp cake which was just plain terrible. We're going to give it another shot because it was a pleasant experience but the food was definitely disappointing.
Cute outdoor spaces, including a "greenhouse" with individual protected booths and pretty flowers. Great service and good food rounded out the experience. We ordered the spicy cod cake with a hint of bacon on a bed of arugula. Once served, we asked for a side of bread and butter. A plate of toast arrived late in the meal, but better late than never! Our accommodating waitress even topped off our raspberry lemonade after the check arrived. We'll definitely be back!
Hamilton’s is a solid neighborhood spot. While no “hard liquor” there are soju cocktails, some good wines and usually a great selection of tap, can and bottle beer. Service can be uneven but was very good this last visit. Food is tasty with good portions. On caveat- they tend to bring the main dish out too quickly- often while still enjoying a hot pretzel and such. If the pacing is important, emphasize it to your server when they are taking your order.
Nice neighborhood brunch spot but I must say that their quality of food isn’t consistent. I love the beef hash they have on the menu and I get it almost every single time but at times it taste quite bland and dry. Service is great though, and it’s usually not super packed so you’ll get to pick your own seats if you’re early!
Solid neighborhood tavern. Family friendly. They have highchairs available. Good vegetarian selection. We especially like the brussel sprouts and Mac and cheese. Crispy artichoke salad and the hard cider were also very good.
This is a cozy restaurant. The ambiance was great. There’s outdoor seating and it’s a nice quiet neighborhood. There wasn’t too much people there and we got to sit in the corner and we stayed for a long time and was never bothered. The clams and the steak entree and the lemon tart were delicious! Our waiter was really chill. They played some good music there. Was celebrating my birthday here and it was a really nice time. Everything was decently priced. Would come again. Want to try out their brunch menu!
It's a nice cozy spot. The food is tasty. Unfortunately, the waiter is very slow, inattentive, keeps forgetting what we ordered. In addition to that, they overcharged us. We ordered 2 hard boiled eggs with salad and toast for our toddler which costs $10. He served only one and a half hard boiled eggs without salad and toast but charged us $10 for it as for the whole meal. Very disappointed.
Cutting to the meat of the issue, the food just isn't very good. I've been here 2-3 times, and tried different dishes, and all of them turned out to be fairly bland and under seasoned. It's not *bad* but it's just kind of nothing. The cocktails were also just a little watery and disappointing. Dishes tried by me and the people I went with ranged from beef to chicken to vegetarian. Across the board it will all very forgettable. The hearty dishes didn't satiate, and the delicate dishes didn't do anything at all. The ambiance is nice, the location is nice, I enjoyed the experience of sitting outside, I *want* to like it, but it just doesn't do it for me.
Decent food but limited menu. Food wasn't mind blowing to be honest- it was just okay but definitely over priced. The extra cost for each "topping" like avocado or aioli felt like they are trying to nickel and dime you. Not sure why we are paying exorbitant downtown Manhattan prices in Windsor terrace! At least, the staff was nice and super friendly and there was a lot of space which is always welcome. They had lots of heat lamps which was great on a cold night. Not much else to talk about really. They are a neighborhood restaurant and unless they bring down prices and expand their menu you battery to the neighborhood, it's passable.
I would love to give this place a shining review. It's an excellent experience for certain people. I am, unfortunately, a black man that loves portion sizes and flavor. Hamilton's isn't for me. If I loved light and slight flavors this would be great.
Came to eat at Hamilton and me and my partner ordered the Grass fed steak with eggs, potatoes, and salad for $31 and the grilled chicken sandwich with bacon, arugula and herb Aioli for $16. In my opinion the steak platter was overpriced due to the amount of steak that was very little and a huge load of salad was taking up half the plate. Thought it would be the opposite… the chicken sandwich was alright for the price and taste. Ordered a iced latte too as well as a pina colada. The pina colada was great but the latte tasted watery almost like an americano with milk… overall the staff was nice and service was alright.
Really nice place with a great atmosphere. Service was good. My mulled wine could have been hotter but my husband's mimosa was good. I had eggs Norwegian and he had corned beef hash with poached eggs. Everything on both plates was absolutely delicious but ALL FOUR EGGS WERE OVERCOOKED. No runny yolk in sight. Weird that it was all of them. A real let down. Otherwise I'd have given it 4 stars. Good if you're in the area. Not worth going out of your way for.
I agree with other commenters that I love the concept and location of Hamilton’s, but for dinner consistently find them lacking. Today I ordered take out, the salmon and the burger and was reminded that this is off my salmon list because it’s not cooked flavorfully. The portion size is also very disappointing for the price, and disappointing as a dinner portion.
Delicious food! Sat outside because there was a long wait for an inside table. It was a little chilly but comfortable in the sun. The cup of hot tea helped. Servers were very friendly but no ketchup for my fries. I had to ask for it. So sugar or milk for my tea. I had to ask for it. When I got it, I didnt get a spoon to stir it with. I did without it. All in all is was a nice experience because the food was good and we enjoyed our time with friends. Maybe they were short staffed??
Hamilton’s is a staple in the neighborhood and it’s usually packed with barely any tables available; I had dinner here years ago and the food was great. Today I went for dinner with my husband and I ordered the pretzel with mustard ($7) since I ate earlier and wasn’t too hungry. My husband got the Rueben sandwich with roasted potato wedges ($21). My pretzel was fine. His sandwich was also ok-it had a good amount of meat on it but the bread got soggy. We also got “warm homemade buttermilk biscuit” with honey almond butter ($5) and the biscuit was cold, dry and a little on the burnt side. The almond honey butter was delicious. Our server was very nice and our food and drinks were delivered in a timely manner. For drinks we got (jalepeno guava soju margarita)- this was very good and (bees knees martini)-this was ok. We had high expectations for the food because we had dinner there before but this time around it was not the best. There is plenty of seating on the inside and outside. I might come back for brunch to give it another try but we weren’t too impressed with the food today.
Unfortunately had a very disappointing experience here, despite the many positive reviews from other guests. We were seated in the outdoor sidewalk area that was littered with garbage and spilled food, but greeted by welcoming staff. I ordered an iced coffee, but it was brought out with a side of completely curdled milk. When I asked our server if she could replace it, she didn’t seem concerned or understand why it was inedible, but did switch out for a fresh one. At that point, it’s pretty hard to trust the restaurant - food was fine but we couldn’t help but be a bit more apprehensive of what we were being served.
Food is decent but the service is AWFUL. Every single one of the girls we interacted with were incredibly rude. All had RBFs and seemed like we had wronged them in some way despite having ordered a ton of food, were quiet customers, and tipped really well. Places like this are disappointing because you want to love them but they just won't let you. Would have been 1 star were it not for the food.
Hamiltons strikes out. We really wanna like this place but there's always something. Today we walked over and got a table, wasn't very busy. Ordered a round and then waited and waited and waited for the second round. At which point we were told (before we got our drinks) that we had to move tables to the "drinking table" (which was clearly an end table they pulled out of the restaurant not a real table). Our bill was $40 already with just the 4 drinks. We would have stayed and drank more and probably ate eventually. Either way we felt insulted. I would understand if it was 2 ppl at a 4 top. Granted it was filling up a bit but as we were leaving there were at least 2-3 tables being cleaned. Someone just didn't want us sitting and drinking and taking in the day in their section I guess. Turn em and burn em I guess. Sorry Hamiltons but this isn't the experience we're looking for. Picture of said "drinking table" attached.
We arrived at not very busy brunch time, but the service was subpar. We had multiple disagreements with the high school aged host who then failed to bring us menus. We had to ask for our order to be taken and then ask to get the check. A request for a spoon was met by eye roll and delivered by hand (don't you usually wrap it in a napkin?). Overall they were not welcoming or even very accommodating to a kid. The food was meh. Small portions and not very flavorful. Water was not refilled. For the price there are better options on Prospect Park West or Cortelyou.
I absolutely love this space, but what a waste. I’ve tried several times to give them another chance, but the food, quality, and price just don’t make it worth it. The only reason I kept trying is because of the positive reviews from others and me thinking I must’ve just ordered the wrong things. Nope. Each time, I left disappointed. I really wish they would have better specials. Give me a worthy happy hour. Add more sides to your menu. Sprinkle some parmesan on the fries, something! The food just lacks character. Absolutely nothing wrong with the service nor space. It just lacks that something to have me come back. Every time I walk past, I just think what a shame because I really wanted to be a regular.
Food was decent but was very disappointed by the service. I brought my family (party of 4) here for my dad's birthday brunch. We ended up waiting a while for our meal. I could understand the long wait time, as it was a sunday brunch. What I could not wrap my head around, however, was how each of our entrees were coming out in spaced-out increments. My mom and I got served our entrees first, about 10 mins later my dad's entree came out, and 10 additional minutes later my brother was served. By that point my mom and I had finished our meals. (We sat and ordered at the same time) The lack of communication from our server was a turn off. Felt like our table was being ignored. Perhaps our experience was just a one off thing. Unlikely to return to find out.
absolutely filthy, this used to be a place where me and my family would actually enjoy digesting the food given, but this time around we found almost what was like a hair ball in our plates hidden beneath our salads. And don’t even get me started on the service, the workers certainly didn’t know what job they signed up for because their attitude was astronomical, When we told them about the hair they didn’t seem to have a care in the world. Instead they offered my son a “on the house” plate of wedges and at the end had the audacity to charge us for the infested food.
Food was okay. Service was terrible . We never got our menu or at least guided into scanning. I had to look up the menus on Google. Waited around 15mins to see if the waiter would come and place our order . We had to signal that we wanted to place an order. Once we got our food. No one ever checked up on us. It was also not busy at all , it felt very unwelcoming
Good food but bad service. This was my families first time going to the restaurant but it wasn’t . We asked for the temperature of our burgers to be medium, but the burgers were overcooked. The waiters didn’t check in on the tables and didn’t offer to get us another drink when we finished ours. If it was busy, we would understand but it wasn’t and there was barely anyone.
Extremely uncomfortable experience — won’t be returning I’ve been coming to Hamilton’s since 2021, and it actually holds sentimental value for me—it’s where I went on my first date with my now-husband. Unfortunately, today’s experience was so uncomfortable that I won’t be coming back. We came in during a snowstorm with our one-year-old daughter. The restaurant was nearly empty—maybe four people total—yet we were ignored for 10–15 minutes. No greeting, no check-in, no acknowledgment, even as my child became visibly hungry and irritated. When I finally asked if we could place an order, the woman serving us responded, “I’m waiting.” I told her she never came over to ask if we needed anything. Her only response was “ok,” with no concern, apology, or follow-up—making it very clear she did not care. She later stated that she is the manager, which made the interaction even more disturbing. The dismissive behavior felt intentional. The contrast between how I was treated and how my husband (who is white) was treated was noticeable and deeply unsettling. Based on repeated interactions and today’s experience, I genuinely believe the treatment I received was racially biased, and it made me feel unwelcome and unsafe. Because of how uncomfortable the situation felt, I chose not to order food at all. As a parent, trust matters, and I did not feel comfortable eating there under these circumstances. To be fair, I did speak with the night manager, who stepped in, was polite, listened to my concerns, and apologized. I appreciated that intervention. However, the fact that this situation escalated to that point speaks volumes. Lulu clearly needs proper training, especially in customer service, professionalism, and cultural competency. The owner, Georgia, needs to be aware that this level of management and conduct is unacceptable. This restaurant used to mean something to me, but after today, I will never return.
I ordered a burger with wedges before 6 PM on a weekday through GrubHub. 45 minutes after placing the order, I got a text saying my order was delayed. Ok, fine. I called the restaurant back and asked what was going on, and the employee who answered (who was friendly and offered an apology, to his credit) just said it wasn’t their fault after acknowledging that my food hadn’t been made yet. There was no real explanation, and no offer for partial or whole reimbursement with a pledge to get the food delivered expeditiously. As a result, I just cancelled the order. To the management there: when you guys drop the ball and compromise somebody’s meal plans, do the right thing for the customer beyond just saying “sorry, do you still want your food or not?”
Was going to come in for a quick brunch but my boyfriend got an urgent call from work, so we could only do takeout. Service was great, and ambiance was spectacular. I really wanted to go back for a dine-in experience, but I’m not sure if I should even do that anymore because something is obviously VERY wrong in the kitchen. I’m not sure how they can serve food this burnt. My potato rosti was BLACK.
