Opinions de Il Punto Ristorante New York
The service was excellent and the food was well-prepared, especially the fresh pasta. I ordered the parpadelle pasta with Bolognese sauce. It is one of my favorite types of pasta and was cooked perfectly. The sauce was rich in flavor with the right ratio of meat. I did try their signature red onion sherbet salad (yes, you read that correctly). The grilled shrimp in the salad was perfectly cooked. The salad was interesting as it is mixed table-side with the sherbet becoming the dressing It could use a little more acid. And not sure if the blackberries are the right choice of fruit for it. I was warmly greeted as I entered the restaurant and the service was attentive but not obtrusive.
I rely heavily on reviews myself. Based on the reviews for this restaurant, I went there. I have gone there many times since. My experience was entirely consistent with the others. This is an excellent restaurant. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The salmon is amazing and the homemade spaghetti with marinara sauce is excellent. They also make a very nice house salad. The bread is great. I am in York city once a month on business. I always go here at least once during my trip and sometimes twice. I usually eat at the bar. Miguel is always friendly and provides great service.
My friends and I were blown in during a crazy snow storm and were greeted with warm smiles and warm food. The lobster ravioli and seafood special in a white bean sauce were incredible. Each one of the staff members was so kind, so generous, and so prompt. We will definitely be back.
This excellent spot happens to be right in my new neighborhood. The dishes deliver freshness, flavor, and menu diversity. I can't stop thinking about it! The service approach exceeds normal expectations. This restaurant is ideal for group meals.
Excelled food with the staff to match!! Love going here. Always treated with genuine hospitality that makes me come back everytime!
One of my favorite spots in the city they are great and I am always so pleased to go here. Great experience each time I have come. Nothing short of amazing service. Food is amazing , gelato salad , pasta perfection, and dessert to die for. Highly recommend. Always give this recommendation for people visiting the city.
This is our second dinner at Il Punto in the last 2 months. Both times we’ve had wonderful food and service. I have to eat gluten free/dairy free and the menu is well labeled and the servers knowledgeable about these dietary restrictions. My husband is not GF/DF and loves the food as well. The food is fresh, delicious and authentically Italian. We will be back!
Our pre-theater dinner was outstanding! I enjoyed a complimentary cold tomato soup to start, then I chose the Chilean sea bass, which came with a slight crunch on the top, buttery layers beneath, just perfect. Its accompaniment was arugula pesto breaded stuffed zucchini. I had to look it up on their menu as I couldn't quite determine just what it contained when I ate it...all I knew was that it was delicious, and so inventive. Roasted brussel sprouts along with blanched and peeled cherry tomatoes rounded it all out.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The food was fresh and flavorful and inventive, and the service was superb. I am not a huge calamari fan, but my husband ordered them as an appetizer and they were the best I have ever eaten. The pastas are homemade and the herbs they use in various foods and drinks add tremendous flavor. The restaurant was a 15-minute walk from our hotel in Times Square and was well worth our time and money. We will be back!
Took some clients here after a conference for a celebratory dinner. We originally made reservations for 8, but then ended up calling to make it 10-12. Everything was wonderful! The service was fantastic and they honestly make you feel like family. The drinks and food were also fantastic. We tried a little bit of everything. Get the ice cream salad, it’s unique and delicious, but truly you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The service is what really set this place apart for me though. We will definitely be back!!
We enjoyed a holiday meal at IL Punto for 24 employees, and they had a perfect room for us. The service was good, and particularly for a group our size. Starting backward, the chocolate lava cake and cannoli were to die for. Sincerely, the best I've ever had. Our desserts were served family style, so it was nice to be able to have a taste of several dessert options. The colleagues at my end of the table ordered cheese ravioli with lobster, mushroom risotto, and the house lasagna, which is baked in individual round servings with a bechamel sauce. All plates were entirely cleaned, every bite eaten. The staff took a great group picture for us, everyone was friendly and joyful. It was a fantastic choice for our event.
We celebrated my cousin’s milestone birthday at Il Punto. There had to be 20 of us. We all ordered something different. We are “Italian food SNOBS” lol Yet we were all very pleased!
Such a wonderful place to dine. Take the recommendations of the host whose enchanting hospitality will make you wish you could stay and eat longer even more than delicious food if that can be believed. As stated, the menu is exquisite and you will be guided through it to tickle the fancy of your specific taste. At the end of each course I was left wanting but for what? More stomach! Which I found at the arrival of each dish. This is a place where everything is described, prepared, and brought to you with.
Absolutely phenomenal ! We were in the city for an event at the Jacob Javits Center. After the event we decided to walk to 9th Ave for lunch. IL Punto was an easy choice. The food was prepared to perfection. The price was fair. Christmas decorations made the ambiance special. The restaurant is beautiful with or without the holiday decor. Portion size is more than one can finish, but not ridiculous. It is definitely worth the price. I recommend IL Punto.
In NYC for a conference. Made a reservation on open table. Food is excellent! And the service was wonderful. The only glitch is that we (party of two) felt a little rushed to finish the appetizer, drinks and meal. We spent a total of one hour while feeling a little rushed. We had the calamari which was crisp and hot! I had the Milanese de pollo—perfect! And chocolate cake dessert.
What a wonderful surprise this restaurant ... in the heart of Manhattan you can breathe Italy, from food to smiles. Antonio the maitre is a delightful person who welcomes you with joy and you see the passion in what he does. Each dish is described by him from creation to realization and really makes you breathe the air of Italian food with his story from traditions to flavors. And then the food is exceptional each dish is presented with attention to details and an explosion of flavors. Try the salad with onion ice-cream, shrimp and blackberries a dream and the risotto with porcini mushrooms simply sublime. I recommend to all those who really want to taste the real Italian cuisine made with Italian products, to go to this restaurant you will not regret. You will immerse yourself in the tradition of Italian flavors seasoned by Antonio's professionalism and engaging energy that will guide you with love.
Great little hole in the wall place serving authentic Italian food. Cozy setting, professional staff and delicious food. Try the calamari appetizer. It's amazing. Nice light crunchy batter, two dipping sauces served in a cute wooden crate with newspaper tissue in the bottom. The paperdalle with berries and asiago sounded so weirdI had to try it and I'm really glad I did. It was delicious.
Had an excellent dinner here! They greeted us warmly and took great care of us throughout our meal. We liked that they didn’t rush us. The food was fresh, pastas were homemade and all meals were cooked to perfection. Be sure to get dessert...they were scrumptious. Mille grazie, Il Punto!
We haven't been here in 2 years but so glad they had room for us to enjoy a fabulous Christmas eve dinner.. love this establishment. We spend Christmas in NYC for the past 12 years and this is hands down my favorite Italian Restaurant.... they make everything from scratch.. will definitely be back next year!
12/19/25 we had our Christmas Luncheon here today everyone was what we hoped for…excellent from the Manger, Staff, Food, Service ambience. We had a great time and were very content. Thank you Antonino👌
This place is AMAZING!! Cozy spot (tables literally right next to each other) but the food is extremely fresh and so tasty! Pretty sure the pasta is handmade in the back because it tastes so fresh! The lobster ravioli was one of the best dishes I’ve ever had at an Italian restaurant. Presentation of food was beautiful. They are known for their tiramisu and I can definitely see why! Also pictured: squid ink fettuccini
Appetizers delicious, especially the pulpo The chef was excited to prepare the branzino the proper way, with skin crisp on top for enjoying in entirety.
My sister and I were referred to this beautiful establishment. It was very tight and cozy...not made for people with hips. Lol! Loved the waitstaff. They were informative and very confident! The recommendations were spot on. The salad and lobster ravioli was out of this world! I highly recommend this place. Thank you for making our 1st NYC experience special. 🥰
Service was great. Servers and host/hostess were all very friendly. Felt like they were friends. We were a big group but they accommodated us well and didn't rush us at all. Food was really good. I really loved my il timballo, and wish I could eat it daily. I honestly woke up next morning wanting to eat it again.... Steak was good, all appetizers were good (I wasn't a fan of crab cake but my friends loved it), black ink pasta was ok. Good ambiance. DELICIOUS cocktails! Good desserts. Couldn't take a lot of food pictures because they were all DELICIOUS and I was hungry..... =p
Had a delicious & relaxing meal at Il Punto. The Trebbiano was refreshing after a long day, and the ravioli special was incredible. The fettuccine as well. The recommendations were spot on. Don’t skip the Ice Cream Salad! The red onion ice cream melts & acts as the dressing for a green salad with Parmesan & grilled shrimp. It was wonderful!
Excellent dinning experience. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. We had reservations, but it wasn't overly crowded on a Sunday evening. I had two old fashioned cocktails that were excellent as well. Atmosphere inside was also nice. Small, but not crowded. We went in November and enjoyed the Christmas decorations. Attentive wait staff, and we'll priced special entrees. Highly recommended
What a hidden GEM! Great food, great service. Lovely dining area. Very intimate setting. We got the calamari and carpaccio to share and both were delicious. I ordered the Cavatelli with eggplant and my friend got the chicken Parm. Each dish was better than the last. I will be back, whenever I'm in town. Back again one year later I've been thinking about the Cavatelli alla Norma- it was more delicious than I remember. Orecchiette with sausage was also divine. This year, I came with my friends and seven month old. The manager was more than accommodating and friendly, kind. Great service again. I'll be back here again and again.
Came here for my daughter’s birthday. Make sure that you have reservation prior coming in. They are packed of people even on monday evening. Great food, great service. I love the taste of each food that we had. Salad with gelato and lamb chop is the one that made WOW! Thanks Anthony for the recommendation. Will be back soon
I'm so lucky to have found the place! The food is absolutely amazing! Everything was fresh, seasoned well and beautifully presented. The staff were friendly and made sure our drinks were never empty. Also, if you love tiramisu, PLEASE GET SOME HERE IT IS THE BEST TIRAMISU YOU WILL EVER HAVE!
Please try the red wine poached pear arugula salad(Insalata di pera e Gorgonzola) and the layered eggplant appetizer(Caponata sciliana)! These are so good that we finished too quick to take any pictures. The spaghetti with clams is unforgettable. Simple dishes but great tastes. It is a little bit crowded but the food is amazing!
I actually enjoyed this authentic Italian cuisine. The menu features house-made fresh pastas, grilled and roasted seafood, poultry and veal. Excellent food, artfully presented in a pleasurable atmosphere. In addition, enjoy choosing from an extensive list of fine wines. Simple, yet classic, interior gives the perfect setting, for business or pleasure. Great location, just 4 short blocks to the Javits Center, 2 blocks to Port Authority, also close to Madison Square Garden, Penn Station and the Theatre District. Your escape to Italy is right here in Midtown Manhattan!
We tried here as it was a few minutes walk from our hotel and luckily we're able to get a table straight away (not the case later for others, but they didn't have to wait too long). The service was attentive from the start and the food was to die for - my wife had the grilled salmon whilst I had the special of lamb chops. We met the Sicilian owner and said how impressed we were and made another booking for my birthday in a few days time. Not cheap but well worth the money.
Popped in tonight for dinner. Service was very attentive. We asked for wine and entree recommendations, which our waiter recommended delicious choices. If I lived in the area I would go back all of the time. Also, the Christmas decorations are really cute. Check them out for sure!
UPDATE - 12/14/24 New York City excels at many things, but one of its finest achievements? Italian food. As the birthplace of red-sauce Italian American cooking, it has plenty of top-notch options, and these days, it can feel as if all of Italy is represented here. Located on the corner of 38th Street and 9th Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen, Il Punto translates from Italian, meaning the point is where my partner, my cousin, and I came tonight for some of us as a repeat performance for dinner. Reservations via Yelp are highly recommended, as it gets crowded inside this cozy establishment, as experienced from our last visit a year ago. Upon arrival a bit early, we were greeted by Antonio, who welcomed us with joy and showed us the passion in him for what he does. He escorted us to our table. Their menu serves classic Italian dishes from the regions of Florence, Naples, Milan, Rome, Puglia, and beyond, featuring the star of the show, their house-made fresh pastas. As an appetizer, we each decided on the arancino stuffed with bolognese sauce and mozzarella cheese. For our entrée, we opted for Tagliolini neri ai Frutti di Mare with homemade fresh squid ink tagliolini, Pappardelle alla Bolognese with homemade fresh pappardelle, and one of the specials featuring homemade ravioli with pancetta. We even saved room for dessert and got tortino al cioccolato (chocolate cake), cuore di Sicilia (homemade Sicilian almond pastry), and cannoli di siciliana . Complimentary breadsticks and bread started our meal. Our food was fresh, seasoned well, and beautifully presented. Their staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and very attentive, especially our server, Luis. The price was relatively to the area. We loved everything about Il Punto. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we walked through the door and continue to recommend.
This restaurant is very small and quaint, however extremely impressive. I loved their family style service feel and their Italian menus and flavor. Their staff was extremely friendly, helpful and very attentive. We rarely waited, they were extremely prompt and never rushed us. The meal was delicious and the company even better. I loved our experience!!! Highly recommend this for a family or business dinner… or just a night out with your favorite person. It’s an amazing spot!
This is hands down my favorite Italian restaurant! The gelato salad was a unique and refreshing dish, with a great balance of flavors. The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere, and the service is always friendly and attentive. Whether you’re here for a casual meal or a special occasion, it never disappoints. Highly recommended for anyone looking for quality Italian food!
Miguel was very welcoming. Good service and and good food. I had the gnocchi al gorgonzola. All the flavors came together nicely. Loved the pears and walnuts with it. Even better they don’t charge an extra fee for using a credit card! All restaurants should be this way!! This is the main reason why I tried them and I will be back because of this!
Very cozy but don’t feel like we were on top of each other. Antonio greeted us warmly and continued his attention through out the evening! He was very professional and yet had a jovial way about him! So patient answering my questions. All the staff worked as a team and with smiles. Food was out of this world! Shrimp gelato salad is a must! Hope to be back next time we’re in town!
Absolutely loved Il Punto II! The gelato salad with shrimp was such a unique and refreshing starter, definitely a must-try! Everything else was delicious too, from the caprese to the mushroom risotto and gnocchi with pear and salmon. And the Aperol affogato for dessert? Incredible. Perfect balance of sweet and citrus, the best way to end the meal. Plus the drinks! Loveeed the Martinis!! Pistachio, chocolate 😍Great food, cozy vibe, and friendly service!
What a neighborhood gem! We stopped in after a trade show and it did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us warmly and made us feel like family. We started by sharing the poached pear salad, and I’m still thinking about it. For entrees, we ordered the mushroom risotto and the salmon, both were excellent. I only wish I were in town a few more days to try more of the menu. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in the city!
We had an absolutely outstanding dinner at this Italian restaurant — one of our favorite dining experiences in our NYC eating vacation. :) The service was excellent: friendly, attentive, and efficient without being overbearing. Our server made thoughtful recommendations and kept everything moving at the perfect pace. Timing, in fact, was one of the most impressive parts of the evening. We’ve been to other fine dining spots where the food was good, but the pacing was off — too rushed sometimes but too slow between other courses. Here, every course arrived just when it should, allowing us to enjoy the meal without any awkward waits or interruptions. The setting was also just right…nicely designed and quiet enough to have a real conversation without straining to hear each other. As for the food, incredible. Every dish was beautifully plated and full of balanced flavors and textures. We had the lamb, cioppino, squid ink seafood pasta, veal scaloppini, a side of handmade pasta with Bolognese sauce, caprese, and carpaccio. Each one was memorable, and it was clear that a lot of care went into both the ingredients and execution. Desserts were just as strong — classic, well-done, and a perfect way to finish the meal. Overall, this place truly had it all: excellent food, smooth service, great ambiance, and great timing. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful Italian dining experience.
Excellent dishes and amazing service! Dishes were served in a timely manner. Everything we picked from the menu was delicious. Definitely, recommending the gelato salad, lobster ravioli, and lamb chops. Pistachio tiramisu and chocolate lava cake with gelato are a must! Definitely, coming back again!
Amazing experience with the most caring staff. The menu has a great mix of classic and unique dishes. We tried the gelato salad and it was delicious! Some other favorites were the lamb, handmade cavatelli, and aperol affogato. Super cozy spot with great drinks too. Perfect spot to celebrate a special occasion too (we saw 3 different groups celebrating birthdays!)
Great meal at Il Punto. The cocktails, food, and service were amazing. The pear appetizer was delicious, and my "spaghetti with clams" did not disappoint. They have several flavors of tiramisu, and we tried pistachio, a must first pistachio lovers. We had an exceptional evening and will be back soon.
It's a nice spot and they are very accommodating. Good for a good size celebration. A little outdated menu, and the food is genuinely good, just not very exited. I don't know if I would name a dish there that I would love to come back for. But I would eat there again if I was in the area.
I highly recommend this place. It was fantastic The food was awesome, the ambiance was great. Service was great, and staff was extremely friendly and really took care of you. Generous portions of quality food. My only concern was that they asked me how I would like my chicken cooked. “Medium” means normal. I want my chicken cooked fully and I don’t want salmonella, that’s how I want it cooked lol please don’t ask people that question anymore, chicken is not cooked to a degree, it’s just fully cooked, but not overcooked so it stays juicy. My chicken did come out cooked perfectly, but the question is strange.
I like the place overall considering the full value proposition, service and atmosphere however although the food was consistently good, it wasn't 5 star.
Overall pretty good Italian spot. Service was good (but could have been better…unless that’s not allowed in NYC). For starters, we had the seasonal salad with arugula, mango, and cherry tomatoes (pretty good, but not seasoned at all) and burrata with a wonderfully fresh basil pesto. Mains were the cioppino (delicious tomato broth) and a pasta with sausage (couldn’t pronounce, let alone remember, the name). Both were good but the pasta dish, like the salad, was under-seasoned.
Nice quiet place, food was delicious. They first brought out a cold tomato soup (on the house) which was outstanding - at that point I knew we were in for a good meal. My wife ordered a chicken asparagus dish and I got the filet mignon special. We also ordered a ragu pasta dish to share (glad we did). For me the pasta was the best part of the meal. Very fresh and tasty. Overall a great meal and would recommend. We ended up paying around $125 for the two of us (drinking water) and that included a tiramisu to go.
I had the salmon ($37), it was served medium rare as I requested, it was delicious. From my vast experience, it has been very hard for chefs to cook salmon medium rare, let alone serve it hot at the table as they did at Il Punto.
Awesome little Italian restaurant serving up some of the best food I've had in my trip to NYC. Great staff and very welcoming and friendly. Suggestions were great and I really enjoyed their lamb chops and array of deserts. A MUST get is their sausage which is sourced from a 120 year old market across the street. GET IT! Absolutely delicious. Gelato salad was awesome so start with that.
I recently had a delightful breakfast at IL Punto and overall, it was a great experience! Food: The menu offered a fantastic selection, and I was really impressed with the quality of the dishes. My avocado toast was fresh and flavorful, and the pastries were a real treat. Everything tasted homemade and authentic. Service: The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure we felt taken care of throughout our meal. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations. Atmosphere: The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, filled with a nice blend of rustic and modern decor. It felt like a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal, although it could get a bit noisy during peak hours. Overall, IL Punto is a lovely place for breakfast, and I can’t wait to go back!
We had a group dinner here and made reservations. Our table was available upon arrival and we were seated promptly and given water and time to review the wine list. The server was efficient filling our water glasses several times. We all ordered pasta dishes and everyone was pleased with their order. The bread was nice and fresh.
Location and service was great.. Food was good if a bit under seasoned but portions were small and over priced for what you got in my opinion...I don't mind paying money for great food but either make portions bigger or improve the food a little to make up for the price...again,the staff were great...
An Italian restaurant. We went because it was close to our hotel. It's not a very special place, but it can be tried if you're around. Food quality is average, prices are not cheap. Excuse me, they have a reticent state, especially they try to make you spend money by serving drinks very quickly. Since we were asked to change tables, they offered us dessert. It may make more sense to consider other options.
First of all, we spent a little bit of time at the bar and the bartender was really nice and friendly. All of the staff were nice. However the food was not up to a New York standard for us. Both mine and my husband's pasta came out more than al dente, almost too undercooked to even twirl on a fork. The dish that I ordered had a very strange sauce it was mushrooms and the sauce looked like beets. I don't see it on the menu, but it was a little weird and kind of dry. The calamari was really good and came out so fresh it was worth the calories! The dessert shown was good, though almost not enough to share. So all in all our items were hit or miss. It may have been an off night so I'm willing to go back to try again but it just didn't live up to this 4 1/2 stars that I saw it was rated.
My group of 20 had a horrible experience with the service. We were made to wait over an hour between the apps and mains, even though we had made the reservation well in advance and the pre fixe menu was recommend to make the service smoother and quicker. The waiter and manager were both rude and even cursed at one of our members. Very disappointing experience and don’t recommend anyone coming here for any event.
