One of my goto place in Chinatown for Catonese comfort food. There is no wrong order. Roast Chicken, Pork and Duck over Rice for everyday. Congee for when your feeling under the weather. Stir fry kitchen dishes are a must. The staff treats you like family. Always get lectures by the old lady for asking for ice water, stating it's bad for my health. 😆
Good Chinese restaurant in China town. I went for BBQ things and it turned out out so good. Not so salty like others in the area. Seating are comfort. Restroom are available down stairs. Cash is cheaper for payment. Enjoy!
WING WONG - 61 MOTT STREET IN CHINATOWN IS THE BEST CHINESE RESTAURANT IN ALL THE WORLD! JOSEPH IS A GREAT PERSON THAT MAKES SURE THE FOOD AND SERVICE IS PREPARED WITH ABSOLUTE AND GUARANTEED SPOT ON AND TREATS THE INDIVIDUAL WITH PRIDE AND NEVER FORGETS YOU ON A RETURN! THEVL FOOD IS 100% AMAZING! Thanks to all the staff! JUST GO AND ENJOY! Barbara
We stumbled upon this restaurant while trying to decide if we should sit down and eat around the area. The menu was extensive and had some interesting items so me and my husband decided to try. And I’m so glad we did! The food was great, not too salty and was a generous portion. Roast pork noodle was very delicious and salt and pepper squid was nicely seasoned and crisp. Yes, it is not a fine dining service, but everyone was fast, efficient and friendly. I loved the hot tea they serve and they took us to quite nice big area at the back of a restaurant. Really great find and I do think they deserve better recognition.
Ming Wong is a great Chinese restaurant in the middle of Chinatown in Manhattan. Located at 61 Mott Street, about a half-block south of Canal Street. We had a wonderful Eggplant in Oyster Sauce #172, and a delicious Sea Bass with Mixed Mushrooms #198. Both dishes were very generous, and you will not leave hungry. Great table service and a perfect spot for lunch or dinner. Highly recommend Ming Wong!
I had the best roasted duck in here. It was so flavorful and delicious. My friend brought me and it was on his treat, so I don't know how much it costs. If you pay in cash, it can be cheaper than pay with card. We didn't wait for too long as we went there on a weekday. They also offered free Chinese tea and you can also ask for water too. I want to come back here and try different menus.
Your typical Chinese restaurant. They specialize in roast meets. The rice crepe was good. Fish balls are underrated! The green beans were excellent. A good garlic flavor to it. They did not skimp on the garlic! The crispy roast pork was delicious. It is usually served cold apparently because I had to ask them to heat it up.
I visited Ming Wong in New York and ordered the roasted duck and roasted pig. Flavor-wise, the food was solid — the meats were well-roasted with good texture and that classic Cantonese-style richness. The skin on both was nicely done, and you can tell they know how to handle roasted meats. That said, the seasoning leaned a bit on the salty side for my taste. What left a less positive impression was the checkout experience. When it came time to pay, the staff selected a tip amount on the screen for me, and I felt slightly rushed to sign without much explanation. It wasn’t a great feeling, especially after an otherwise enjoyable meal. Overall, the food itself is good and worth trying if you’re into traditional roasted meats. I just hope the service at the register can feel a bit more comfortable and transparent next time, as it really affects the overall experience.
Ming Wong is a famous Cantonese style restaurant serving fresh butchered meats as well as other dishes. We got a rice combo as well as butchered meat by the pound, including Siu yuk (crispy roasted pork), Cha siu, and Pai Kuat (Pork Ribs). The siu yuk was quite good, a little crispy but had a good flavor, some pieces did have a decent amount of fat but it wasn't bothersome. The cha siu had a nice glaze on it with a good flavor, and the pork ribs had a good amount of meat on them. For the price, we got a good amount and it was quick and easy to get our order.
Traditional Cantonese style cuisine serving the local community for years. The staff here is friendly and efficient. I like that they’re one of the handful of Chinese joints open later (11pm closing) compared to most restaurants closing by 9pm these days. The BBQ meats, wonton, congee, and stir fry dishes here are all traditional Cantonese style that’s little on the oily-er side. For some reason the dishes always come out lukewarm, compared to pipping hot at other places. They said their kitchen is in the basement and they use a dumb waiter to bring up the food, which probably causes the dish to cool down by the time it arrives to your table. All in all, can’t go wrong with any dishes here. You get a small 5% discount if you pay cash!
Dinner here with my family... The food was delicious. Service was fine. Our waiter was very blunt, and we were taking him light heartedly. All was going well. My only complaint is that after the waiter put my order in wrong, and the wrong dish was brought out, he seemed to expect that I'd just eat and pay for something I didn't order... He acknowledged that it was his error, and then proceeded to pressure me to just accept the different dish (which did not look appealing). He told me what I ordered would take some time to make and that the cook put a lot of work into the dish he was pushing on me (it was just boring white rice, beef and broccoli). Finally after waaay too much back and forth, he took the food away and only charged for my soup. 4 stars though, because other than that uncomfortable moment, we had a very nice experience
Bring me back to my youth. All the restaurants in Chinatown use to serve food like this Cantonese establishment. This is a dying breed of Meat and congee purveyors as this style of food is no longer trendy but reminds-me of a different era. The congee was thick and wholesome and the snow peas leaves cooked in Garlic was splendid, and the bread cruller was a blast from the past and Beef chow fun as I remember while we were young so many decades ago. New times have new prices.. But a decent representation of a clean up chinese Diner.
There's a certain charm in wandering into an asian restaurant, and interacting with a server that treats you like an annoying nephew. Usually at places like this, when you can see the disdain in the employee's eye while taking your order, or the sound of the kitchen staff yelling at each other in the distance- you know that the food that's coming shortly thereafter will be delicious and have a nostalgic reminiscence of home. Unfortunately here that was not the case. We were served cold pork with soggy skin and breaded squid that had the texture of being at the back of the freezer for two months. 2/10
We are visiting from SF…and we are quite spoiled with our vast selection of Asian cuisine so my review of this restaurant is a bit biased. Just wanted to throw that out there before anyone continues on reading this! Now onto the review…we wanted to have some authentic Chinese food so we came to Chinatown…home of authentic Chinese food and we chose this restaurant because it would be good Chinese food…or so we thought. We ordered 3 different dishes and unfortunately, all 3 were quite subpar. The dishes were lacking in flavor. We were all quite disappointed; all three dishes tasted quite bland and were lacking the actual authentic Chinese flavor of herbs and spices (my fellow Chinese peeps know what I’m talking about!). The service was alright…but that’s to be expected. Many waiters walked right past our teapot that was empty as they were looking at their phones (and yes, we had the top open…). All in all, we were quite disappointed with our experience here. The only plus side was that there was an outlet nearby where we could charge up our phones while eating.
Never had I ever had an awful experience in a restaurant as much as I did in this one. Don’t let the 4.1 stars fool you. I went here with my two other friends who ordered the chicken broccoli, and fried rice , I ordered the wonton mein. First of all, my soup came in immediately fast while my friends food had to take 20 minutes before being served . My soup also had an extremely bad smell like unwashed or spoiled pork , nonetheless I tried it and the broth had no flavor along with the undercooked noodles and soggy wonton. The waitress only came by twice , once to get our orders (and got one of my friends order wrong) and another time to take our soy sauce with no explanation. After that nobody came by to check up on us. We noticed how they checked up on their other Asian customers except us. After the horrible experience we had to wait for someone to come by in order to get the bill and the gentleman (who wasn’t even our original server) tried to force us to tip more than we already did. It was infuriating because the food was bad along with the service and they expected more tip? If either of those two were good I would have tipped more. The only good thing out of this place was their cold canned beverages and warm tea they provide. Please do better.
The food was horrible not resembling the photo on the menu. The lady serving us was rude because we only ordered 2 starters and a bottle of water. Kept shouting that if we were only ordering that. Everyone heard and it was humiliating. The worst thing was that when we didn’t leave a big tip she kept shouting and tapping on the till saying this is the tip in a loud voice until she PUSHED me when I was leaving!!! I didn’t go to the police because I was a tourist visiting. From the photo you can see that what I got was pork rolls and they were squashed like that
My family and I went here and seating us was fast compared to the other places nearby which had an at least 15 minute wait. It took a while for someone to take our food order and just that “food order” 20 mins later we asked if someone would take our drink order and the gentleman threw the drink menu on the table. 10 minutes later we asked someone if they would take our drink order. We ordered an appetizer for the little one with rice as her meal. (They never brought it out) They started bringing the food out one by one (like 5 mins apart) and I kept reminding them about her food (the appetizer). When the last item came out (5 adult meals one other appetizer) I again asked about her food (chicken wings and rice) and the gentleman was like oh it’s coming. After everyone was done eating finally and she snacked on everyone’s food. Someone came and asked if we were ready to pay and she 1) did not bring my printed bill 2) wanted me to just give her my card to just pay the bill I asked if she could print the check and she gave it to me and I pointed out that it had charged us for 2 items we did not receive and her words were “Tell somebody else don’t tell me” I was like ohh, so I walked to the front and tried to tell them and one gentleman asked if I told anyone I explained I tried to tell several people. He told me to wait and I came back and explained to him that I didn’t want the items anymore just them removed. The original gentleman that took our order was annoyed at us for pointing it out like god forbid we did not pay for items we did not get. Rice is not included with the meals The service was terrible The portions were small “Homemade water “ is $3
Didn’t recommended This establishment is deceitful. We ordered half a Peking duck, and they brought us two terribly dry legs, three skins without meat, and three pieces of meat. After we expressed our outrage, the waiter and the entire staff laughed at us, became indignant, and behaved rudely. A terrible experience—I strongly advise against it.
