I haven't eaten meat in well over a year so my friends surprised me for my birthday by taking me to a vegan restaurant. Each and every one of us was amazed at our plates, including 3 omnivores. Not a single complaint. Everything was absolutely delicious!!
hilarious, would bring anyone for any occasion. if you sit in front row they will ask you stuff so be prepared lol. all types of comics!
Monday night show was great! Many more comedians than were listed online, which was a pleasant surprise. There were about 8 comedians, and the majority (not all) were really funny. Venue is intimate (about 50 seats) in a great location. Two drink minimum, but you can just get two of the cheapest drinks for $5 each if you so choose. I got a kiwi strawberry drink (no alcohol) and it was nice.
I went to the show at Saint Mark’s on September 12 at 8:30pm. All of the comedians were so funny, but the host Robert Johnson II was fabulous, as was Stephanie Goldklang. Robert was witty and had a really great rapport with the crowd. He kept the show moving really smoothly. And Stephanie was just hysterical! I loves the show and the venue.
*** An Awesome Night of Laughter w/ Robert Johnson II *** I went to Rob J’s 8:30pm comedy show on September 12th with a friend, and we had such a great time! The energy was terrific and the laughs kept coming from start to finish. Rob is a fantastic host—his comedic timing is spot-on, and he kept the crowd engaged and entertained the entire night. You can tell he really knows how to connect with an audience. We left still quoting our favorite moments and laughing on the way home. Highly recommend catching one of his shows if you’re looking for a fun night out!
I went to the 830 show on sep 12. Robert Johnson ll (the host) was AMAZING. Completely kept the show alive between acts and never skipped a beat to call someone out 😂 had me dying laughing the whole time. Looking forward to his next performance as host or as talent. THE BEST!
I’ve attended a couple of comedy shows now at St. Mark’s and I’ve had a great time! Great talent across the board! Really loved the host the one night I attended - Robert Johnson ||. He didn’t let the energy drop in between each comic. It was a seamless transition with jokes included (versus just announcing who was up next) - he really carried the show all the way thru from beginning to end, which isn’t an easy thing to do. Coincidentally I later saw him perform as just a comic on another show, and he was hilarious!! I wished he was on stage longer. I’ll definitely be back!
I was at the Sept 27th 10:30 show with my sister and some friends and it was a blast. Robert Johnson II killed it during his set. His material was funny, but the crowd work was what really made it special. He knew how to get people involved without it ever feeling forced, and the room was laughing nonstop. Easily one of the best comedy shows I’ve been to recently, 10 out of 10 recommend.
Went to the Sept 27th 10:30 show with some of my friends, and had such a good time. Robert Johnson II was hilarious and his crowd work was on point. He had us laughing from the beginning of his set till the end, and made our night better. As someone who goes to comedy shows often, this was definitely one of the funniest shows I’ve been to in a while.
St. Mark’s Comedy Club in New York is a fantastic hidden gem in the East Village, offering an intimate setting, great vibes, and consistently strong stand-up lineups. During my recent visit, the highlight of the night was stand-up comedian Vishnu Vaka, who absolutely stole the show with his hilarious and relatable performance. His unique storytelling style, witty one-liners, and sharp observations about life, culture, and identity had the entire room laughing nonstop. The cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and solid food and drink options made the evening even more enjoyable. If you’re in NYC and looking for a great comedy night, St. Mark’s is a must — especially if Vishnu Vaka is on stage!
Awesome little venue, ideally located on a street with so much diversity, culture, and food!!! I can't believe I've lived in NYC for 15 years and hadn't even heard of it. I was wandering around on a kinda wet, gloomy night and just wandered into this. There was a Snark Tank show happening and it ended up being one of the dark horse highlights of my year!! The venue is quite small and there's no assigned seating so be sure to show up a little early to get in line to get seated. However, you can't be seated until the start time of a show because they do back to back shows, so don't show up too early. Probably 15 mins is the sweet spot. They have a 2 drink minimum policy, similar to most comedy clubs in the city. And also serve chips and salsa, and sometimes empanadas. They do not have a full bar. You can only order what's on their limited menu.
The Go-to meal is the Cali burger. The Nacho fries is a must if you're in large groups! The shakes & smoothies are awesome! Please keep in mind that this is Latin American INSPIRED** VEGAN food. It's cozy, and if you're an artist they do events (not sure if monthly) to have artists come and hang their work up for sale! You might see my work up there in the next few months!
Fast vegan food. You view the menus and order on a tablet. We ordered the mac and cheese, a few empanadas, and avocado fries. All was yummy, good but not amazing. Our favorite thing were the avo fries. Service was quick.
I've been bouncing around the comedy scene seeing lots of different shows and I really enjoyed my time at St. Marks Comedy Club earlier this year. I attended the 9:30pm show on August 16 and saw a number of comics who literally had us rolling. It was a treat to see these folks in such an intimate venue. Service for drinks and food was handled well, and despite a super late start the host Robert Johnson II was able to keep the crowd up and energized for the entire show. I had a really good time and would definitely return to see the talent this club is able to pull.
Lots of tasty vegan options. All from different parts of the world. I would come here wether I was plant based or not. The prices compared to other spots in the city are decent. It was cool that we have the option to order at the counter or via tablet. We decided to go with the three for $10 empanada special. We got the Philly Cheese , Jamaican and the Bean Empanada. The crust of the empanadas were very flaky, which is a great touch. The place was really clean and allowed patrons to use the restroom even during quarantine. Very cool owners! I would definitely come here again. But not order the bean empanada. It was very bland. The dipping sauce was good, more vinegar based and wasn’t as thick as we preferred!
We ordered the fried avocado and it was delicious. Burrito was very good, the carrot cake was amazing, but the filling was way too sweet. We also tried the arepa and the brownie, both delicious. Not that overpriced. Location was clean and neat. Staff were friendly and answered all my questions.
This comedy club is a great place to catch a show, with good vibes and a lively atmosphere that sets the perfect mood for a fun night out. The air conditioning is well-regulated, keeping the space comfortable even when the room is packed. However, there are a few downsides. The biggest issue is that there’s only one bathroom, which can be a real inconvenience, especially with a large crowd. Be prepared for lines during intermission or after the show. Additionally, there’s a one-drink minimum per person, which might not appeal to everyone, especially if you’re just there for the comedy and not looking to drink. Service was ok. Asked for napkins and did not get any. Overall, it’s a fun spot with a good atmosphere, but the limited bathroom facilities and drink requirement are worth considering before you go.
The comedy club is inside an apartment building which you have to be buzz in to enter. Pack your patience, you may be waiting awhile. The show started about a 1/2 hour late. The comics were Ok. We did not like that we were hounded to purchase two drinks at the same time. The drinks were mediocre not worth the price.
Let me start with the positive points. The venue is spacious with strategic location in the heart of St Mark's street. Awesome spot to include in your night out. Friendly staff, nice ambient and Part of the seating area was a theatric stairs where crowd can chill and enjoy the show. Minimum two drinks order. Concerning the show, I'm not sure what was wrong, there were few brilliant comedians but I felt the repertoire wasn't there and the audience were disconnected. I understand that comic is hit or miss, and to me that night was a miss, unfortunately. I trust the producer of the show are doing their best, and I wish them the best of luck Cheers 🥂
Was my first comedy club in new york Couple time was great but last time i was disappointed because I bought 2 tickets for 40$. On October 15, I came to the show, I was offered to buy 2 drinks for $24. After the purchase, they said that there would be no show and for a refund I have to write to the support on the site. No one answered me and on October 17 I wrote on Instagram account. I was answered only on November 10. They promised to return the money and didn't find a way to do it. I opened dispute for a refund to the bank. My dispute will be resolved only on January 9. But it's $40 for a ticket. No one will give me back for drinks, I drank them. So don't buy drinks before the show starts I think I won't visit this club anymore
The comics were pretty decent! Hit or miss, which is what you’d expect. We went to the 10:30pm show on a Saturday, and it started 15+ minutes late and lasted past 12:30am, which is not what we expected. Our waiter got up and did a set near the end which honestly endeared me to the club but it was hard to enjoy anything an hour after I thought it would be over.
Genuinely am so confused at what I just witnessed? For starters we were the only audience members initially (obviously huge red flag off the bat)- throughout the show random people were added that were definitely let in off the street for free (after we paid $40 online). The food was horrific- we ordered the chips and salsa as it was one of the only food items that counted towards the minimum, the chips were bland and the salsa provided was the only funny thing we witnessed all night, we were literally given about a thimble full. Finally the comics could have been random people they grabbed off the street. The sets didn’t have any structure and felt like no material was even prepped in advance. I did not have one genuine laugh for two full sets at which time me and my husband cut our losses and left which I have never done in my life. I understand people need to start somewhere but there cannot be no standards for a paid show. What a waste of time and money.
