Tip: Opt for the dry noodles or rice over noodle soup to enhance the flavor. Be cautious with the spiciest level, as it is very spicy.

Opinions de Silky Kitchen New York
Whenever I visit, my boyfriend and I order food here. He loves noodle soup, and every one he's tried has been a hit! The mapo tofu is now one of my favorite dishes. Thank you for all the care you put into the food and for helping to make our moments even more special. Sorry, I don't have any pictures of the food; usually we enjoy it so much that we end up forgetting, haha.
Silky Kitchen is a hidden gem that brings a refreshing twist to modern Asian cuisine. From the moment you step in, you’re greeted by a stylish, sleek interior that blends industrial design with cozy touches. The atmosphere is lively but not overly loud, making it a perfect spot for both intimate dinners and group gatherings. We started with the crispy dumplings filled with savory pork and vegetables, and they were absolutely delicious—crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside. Next, we had the silk chili shrimp, which was one of the standout dishes. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, with a spicy and tangy sauce that had the right amount of heat and sweetness. We also tried the stir-fried noodles, which were packed with flavor, full of fresh vegetables, and had just the right amount of wok char. For the main course, I had the braised short ribs, and it was melt-in-your-mouth tender. The sauce was rich and flavorful, and the dish was accompanied by fragrant jasmine rice. My dining partner had the black pepper chicken, which was spicy, savory, and absolutely satisfying. The drink menu is a great complement to the food, with a selection of craft cocktails and creative twists on classic drinks. The staff at Silky Kitchen were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making our dining experience even more enjoyable. Overall, Silky Kitchen offers a great combination of delicious food, a modern atmosphere, and fantastic service. Whether you’re in the mood for a casual meal or something more special, this place ticks all the boxes. I’ll definitely be coming back!
I had the Chairman Maos Favorite Braised Pork, and it was tasty and cooked perfectly. Marinated perfectly. I got it with rice and medium spicy level, and it was spicy enough. I think the spicy is quite hot, so be aware, this place does not mess around if you want spicy. Plenty of seats to dine in.
I really loved the food and came here with my friend and her family, for all 5 of us it came up to about $79 I think but it was really good and I couldn’t even finish a bowl since there was a lot of food. It was really delicious and the flavoring was on point. I enjoyed the wall art and the cozy atmosphere they had there it all seemed like a nice place to eat at. I will definitely be visiting this place after school cause it’s a nice hang out spot to eat at.
06/23, 07/25, /22 Very very authentic rice noodles — mb the most authentic Chinese food I’ve had in ny so far. No matter what topping u get, they all has this special taste that makes u know it’s just fresh out stir-fried from the wok. Strongly recommend the pig trotter one— it’s so hard to get 猪蹄 here in the states ;/// the tofu and pg ears we got are 👍too!
I'm so happy to have found authentic Hunan food in Union square! Cute restaurant, efficient services, delicious food at great prices. You can choose whether you want noodles with or without soup or rice with your entree. We tried the beef stew, braised pork ribs with brown sauce and stir fried chicken with chili paste. We also had sides of mapo tofu, string beans and cucumber salad. Can't wait to go back to try their dumplings!
Superb Chinese Chipotle grab-and-go / sit-down spot. I definitely recommend the mild to medium spicy dry noodles or rice over the noodle soup as the flavor is greatly enhanced. Just warning you, the spiciest level is very spicy and is no joke. They have plenty of seating available; the food is made within minutes; and it never really gets full. Hopefully it stays that way. There's so much variety to the different dishes and honestly they're all amazing. My favorite so far are the pig trotter and the squid.
I had the eggs and peppers over dry noodles. I ordered it spicy and think they held back a little, but my god. I haven't had this dish since I was in China, and it tasted exactly like I'd hoped. Excellent quality, tbe flavor is right on point. I was so happy to have this again after years not seeing it on menus in the city. Wish they had it with rice! The pork dumplings were also good!
Great Hunan fast-casual in FiDi—Silky Kitchen brings bold, authentic spicy flavors! Food was tasty: beef gai ma over rice noodles was rich and fiery (loved the customizable spice levels—went medium-hot), handmade dumplings juicy and well-seasoned, and the wood ear salad refreshing with good crunch. Portions generous for the price. Service was quick, friendly, and helpful with spice suggestions. Atmosphere is clean and spacious (bright, modern-casual, not too crowded mid-afternoon), though it's basic fast-casual—no fancy vibes.
The service is pretty good. However, I do hope they can build a glass btw the counter and the kitchen. Open kitchen is not ideal for a lot of stir-frying work. The dining area smells like cooking oil.
I came to their grand opening and everything was 50% off. The cashier was very attentive and ordering was smooth. Food wise, some were good, some could have been better. Now as it was a grand opening, it could have been busy. The beef in the beef noodle soup was very tender, vegetables was cooked to a good texture, but the soup was lacking flavor. The sauteed string beans was my favorite: good texture and flavor. Overall it was a good experience.
Fast casual serving authentic chinese food. There is a kiosk or order through the person behind the counter. Then, they give you a number and they call out the food. The wait time was around 10 minutes since it is made to order. I was not expecting to get a lot of meat but for the price it was surprisingly adequate. However, the beef soup was not hot at all. Overall, it is pretty decent food for the amount of you get, but there is still room for improvement. Also, the bathroom could be cleaner.
We were looking for the “regular Chinese food” and we found this place. If you like spicy then this is a good place for you! The restaurant has a vibe of fast food/take out but is very clean and has a cool design. My wife ordered the noodle chicken soup-mild; I ordered the pork and chicken over rice. Both dishes were very flavorful and with a good spicy kick. Was very enjoyable and a good bow size. P.S. The restroom was clean.
Very tasty, great spice with lots of flavor. I order the stir fried chicken, the beef noodle soup and the spicy squid. The only issue I had was that they gave me the squid over rice and the stir fry over dried noodles and I ordered the opposite. Certainly not a huge deal but would have preferred the stir fry over rice. The beef soup although flavorful to me required the chili oil to get the full flavor. I’d certainly recommend Silky Kitchen.
I stopped by Silky Kitchen near the World Trade Center after seeing it mentioned a lot online. I ordered the pork liver rice noodles and the cured pork version. The cured pork was surprisingly good—flavorful and smoky! The pork liver, however, was sliced very thin and came out a bit dry. Personally, I prefer a thicker cut for a more tender bite. Also, the overall seasoning was a little on the salty side.
A simple counter-service spot offering rice noodles and rice dishes, though the quality felt a bit off during my visit. The beef noodles were very mild in flavor, while the string beans side dish was overly salty, leading to imbalanced flavors overall. It might have been an off day, but I left feeling underwhelmed.
If you want a “freshly made” branding, you shouldn’t have an open kitchen lol. There was a large food warmer on the counter with pre-prepared items sitting inside. “Freshly made” typically implies food prepared to order, not food that has been premade and held in a warmer for an extended period until sold. If the concept is fast-casual or grab-and-go, that’s completely fine, but the marketing should accurately reflect that. Transparency about preparation methods would help set proper expectations. Obviously with that being said, the defrosting may have gone wrong somewhere in the midst of that “freshly-made” batch. Better check the pork belly 😂
Food is just not good. The Hunan Beef is wrong, taste is wrong, the "spicy" is faked with chili flakes and not the real spices. The noodles are poor quality, the whole is just a salt bomb. Waste of calories.
I ordered the pork and bamboo over rice . For nearly $20, it was 95% vegetables and almost no pork. Basically every fork full was all celery and peppers ! On top of that the flavor was , meh ! So much so that i just ate half of it and then threw it in the trash This eatery is in a neighborhood full of serious heavy hitters, Joe's Pizza, 7th St. Burgers, Apollo Bagels etc.. I hope they get their act together so they can stay afloat.
