Opinions de Tang's Garden New York
We had an excellent waitress who made us laugh and served us great quality food besides making us feel welcomed.
I've been going to Tang's Garden for years. I love that it is still one of the old school joints left on the UES. The place hasn't changed since I was a kid. I come here for delicious basics: chicken and broccoli, soup, scallion pancakes, and cold noodles and sesame sauce. The food is still on point - and still one of the best places to get simple comforting Chinese food!
I was on a class field trip and we needed something to eat. We found this place online and called them and asked if they had enough room for us. (There was 25 people in our group) They told us to come on down and when we got there they had pushed tables together for us. They had also set out cloth napkins and plates and gave us grade A service. The food was amazing! I extremely recommend going here.
Tang's Garden is a special place. No I haven't been inside, but they deliver! And they're fast! And its delicious! AND its packed with MSG, American Chinese Food's best friend for life. Seamless is great but the special part is ordering by phone. They're just so on point I can't take it. The food comes to your door steaming hot, all you need is two orders to fill up two people. What a success.
The sesame noodles are the best any where. The general tso chicken was great. It is a little on the dive side but very good. My uncle took me and my wife, he has been coming for 25 years and knows everyone. They were very good to us. Will go back next time I'm in the city.
Stumbled upon this place. Saw a bunch of people inside and had a taste for orange chicken. Best orange chicken I’ve ever had in my life! Came with fried rice and soup all for under ten dollars #lunchspecial love for orange chicken was def in the air. No pics because I ate it so fast!!!!
Greatest Chinese dining experience I have every had in my entire life. Before I was enriched with their divine flavors, I had though Chinese food was not tasteful. I walked into Tang's Garden depressed and longing for a quality meal, but the genuine kind and brilliant people at Tang's Garden enlightened my spirit. I immediately felt a sudden buzz in my body as the kind lady said to me, "How may I take your order". I responded with my order and to my surprise, the price was incredibly reasonable for my dish. I ordered a simple chicken brocoli with brown rice and a pepsi can. I was given my meal within 5 minutes upon ordering it to my pleasure. The experience of dining at Tang's was wonderful as I enjoyed observing the wonderful Chinese art around me. I highly rec eating at Tang's Garden if you are looking to enjoy a cheap lovely Chinese meal in a place full of cultural Chinese pleasures.
One of the best chicken and broccoli dishes I’ve ever had! The pork fried rice is amazing too. This is a true neighborhood gem!!!
Perfect little lunch spot on the Upper East Side. Food has always been delicious.
this place is special. i’ve been coming here since middle school and will be a lifetime customer- the service is exceptionally efficient & friendly and the food is absolutely DELICIOUS and fresh tasting. do yourself a favor and go here!!!
A very good neighborhood Chinese Restaurant with a wide selection on the lunch menu. Much beyond that on the regular menu. Prices moderate or less. If you come often they remember you and your favorites. Lately this placed has slipped. New owner?
One of the most delicious Chinese food in NYC. I was there yesterday with my family and everyone really enjoyed the food. All the dishes were so tasty
Great lunch specials at terrific prices. Best Chinese food value in the UES and food is delicious.
Visit by during my break and couldnt decide where to go and there was Tangs chineese restaurant 😄 Best chicken ever plus tons of rice with egg and pork free soda it was a decent price. I will return again! Thank you for being awesome!
We came back to tangs after many years of missing them during their closure. So happy to say the food is as delicious as ever! We love Tang’s Garden!
Our old Chinese place to go when we lived in NYC. I just discovered that they make Dan Dan Noodles, which was not that bad. Their food is simple and tasty. No fuss.
Been going here for over 25 years , love the chicken and baby bok choi
I knew right away that this was a good spot for Chinese food! We were around the area and this spot did not disappoint! A good resto at UES for Chinese food and not to go all the way downtown. We came a bit late since they were still open too and it was a bit crowded for that time. They served very quick the items we ordered. The lady who accommodated us was really nice. Open kitchen, you’ll see the action. We ordered Chef’s special which was General Tso’s Chicken, Chicken Udon and Steamed Shrimp Shumai. And the serving was a loooooooot. Which is normal and usual if having a Chinese food and I would always be happy to take that. Means you get what you paid for. Will be back again if around the area! A recommended Chinese spot!
We stopped by for a quick and light meal after our visit to The MET. The House Fried Rice was delicious, and we even recommended it to the customer next to us. We ordered only the Fried Rice, Wonton Soup, and Chicken Wings, and each dish turned out to be absolutely delectable.
A good chinese place in UES. Huge variety of chinese food from mandarin, cantonese and basic chinese food Best thing i like is that they have an open kitchen where you can see the cooks preparing food and how busy they are They have also a good menu for lunch special from 11:30-4pm Best place to go for as well
Traveled from Arizona and we were looking for something good to eat. This place does not disappoint!!! Very delicious and exceptional service
New Tang's Garden Best Chinese Restaurant in New York, NY. Begin your voyage with our diverse food destinations, offering a wide variety of different choices. You can simply select your choices of meats, seafoods, vegetables and watch the chef create your fresh and succulent dish right before your eyes.
Great food and service. Ordered chicken brocolli with roast pork fried rice combo.
Update: they are back open as of Nov 25, 2022 after being closed for several years! Still the best cold noodles in NYC, no others even close! Not as good as they used to be, but still the best cold sesame noodles in NYC. If you know better then please lmk. The crispy tangy beef is also a must. I travel here from upper west side just to get these two items.
Delicious! Very big portions

I don’t review often but the great and fast service, cheapness of the lunch menu, and taste of the food is so insanely worth it. Will be coming back often!
This is my go to lunch spot when I’m working in this area. The staff is so nice and the food is great. No frills, just solid Chinese food. The lunch special comes with a bunch of food and is well priced. I love this place!
The food is delicious!!! People that work there are very nice. The place needs a little facelift, however this place has been around for many years located in a large space, the food has to be good to survive NYC rent for that long. This place has been around 30+ years.
The best Chinese food in NYC. Used to live a few blocks away. Now I live in another state but go there every time I come back. Glad they reopened after the long hiatus after closing for Covid.
Solid, old-school, no-frills Chinese restaurant that has been around for decades. Reasonable prices, good portion sizes and good food, I would always be happy to come here. I highly recommend the bbq spare ribs and the crispy shrimp and scallop special.
They always have great food. My family has been ordering food from them for 26 years, except when they work closed for over 2 years because of COVID. When my sister comes back to New York from Florida, she always wants to go there or order in to get their sesame noodles.
Simply the best Chinese food in the city. Everyone says they don’t post reviews…until they are sooooo compelled to finally do so. World hear me and my first review. Go here. And go often. You’ll thank me but remember just thank the chef. Bravo. What a place. Old school 80s/90s Chinese that reminds you why NYC is known for having such fantastic food. Cold Noodles. Unbelievable. Oh and the crispy beef. Otherworldly. You are welcome.
Delicious flavor and fast service! Found myself here looking for some good fried rice in the area and I found it. The wonton soup is delicious, flavorful, and not oily like some other places. Will def be returning here

Amazing food, the skirt steak lollipops are life changing. Alcove fries are great as well. They have a nice local beer selection too. I love locally owned and actually good places. Amazing all around!
My favorite Chinese in NYC. What they lack in decor they make up with yummy wonton soup and amazing dumplings. Food gets a 5, the 4 was because of the decor. We usually do take out.
Been going here for 15 years + .They got the best roast duck I ever had outside of China town . Since I no longer work around there I still make time to go at least five times each year . I missed saying "Tang tang" among my coworkers when it's lunchtime.
Order the shrimp with cashew, $20 to the garbage, they don’t clean their shrimp, was completely grossed out. Total disappointment.
Tang’s Garden offers what you’d expect from most Chinese restaurants. The vegetable fried rice lunch special ($10.85, tax included) came out fast and was a decent sized serving. Probably better suited for takeout as the interior is rather drab.

The food was really amazing. Have been there a couple of times. However, sadly today one of the servers named Jenny was really unprofessional and I was really unsatisfied with her service. In the middle of eating she dropped off the check after we had just gotten the food. She took our plates when we didn’t fully finish our meal. Really disappointed with what occurred.
Great lunch specials. Standard Chinese fare. There is a little atmosphere but the food is good and inexpensive Tang reopened. Unfortunately, the food is not as good as it was pre COVID. Maybe there is an adjustment period?
The food was ok. I purchased a small fried rice and dumplings, the dumplings were mini and the cost was $16. Way too expensive for the size and quality. I was in line and people was also coming in, and the people after me was being helped before me. Wouldn't go there again.
The food is absolutely overpriced. The staff taking orders are overwhelmed, have no patience to try understand what you want and of course they are not kind in this circumstances. There was constant argument/fight between the staff. I asked beef w/rice, but I got beef flavored fried rice; very unhealthy and it was more then $9. They may have some better food choices, but that was my first and the last visit to this palace for Chinese food.
Nice dining with cold A/C and roomy dining, but the food taste worst then the takeout restaurant. It’s too salty and not very tasty. It is also expensive.
Meh. The chicken with rice was bland. No flavor even after I requested it spicy. Lots of rice though for $10. The waiter never came by to see if we wanted anything else. Rediculous service requesting a tip when the waiter provided nothing other than our plates. Had to get up to get a straw.
Food is good but the prices shown on the google maps website are much cheaper than the actual prices charged. I was unpleasantly surprised by a large bill when I went in to pick up my order.
I FOUND A HAIR IN MY FOOD MIXED IN THE SAUCE. I’ve been going here for years after they fixed it back up food isn’t the same nor the workers they are rude and it’s non sanitary.
The fried rice was very salty, oily, and had a burnt smell.
The food here is really un-impressive. I hope the owner read this and make some changes to the cooks in the kitchen. It doesn't take a genius to figure this out. I ordered an appetizer beef skewer and literally I received ONE skewer for $6.50 consist of 3 pieces of flavored-less beef and lots of peppers and onions that is fried (not grilled). Then comes their famous cold "sesame" noodles, which wasn't too bad. But truly missing some finer details. The cold sesame noodles need some veggies (preferably crispy and crunchy cucumbers) and sprinkling of sesame seeds. The decor leaves little to be desired. I can't even say this place is a bargain because the food is poorly executed.

Very disappointing. Chicken was spongey, lo mein was mushy - and everything was very greasy.
