Opinions de Taste from Everest New York
I had the most wholesome and wonderful time at Taste from Everest with my family. I am a regular on UberEats but this was the first time we went in person because we just love the food here. It is a super unassuming restaurant (not too fancy or upscale at all) but has the best few dishes all of which live up to their names. My family isn’t a big fan of overly spiced food and they season their food just right! We were served by Mr. Krishna who was super attentive, friendly, and quick. This place truly is a hidden gem and I would give more stars if I could! They’re also priced so well for a restaurant in Midtown. My personal faves to order: Paneer Tarkari Wai Wai Sadeko Jhol Momos Vegetable Chowmein Himalayan Chicken
If you are looking for simple yet tasty food that will leave you happy and at peace - you will love this place. The food is full of flavor and personality while at the same time providing comfort and joy. Great service from Krishna. I was dining in with my family and he made sure that each and every one of us was taken care of. Genuinely one of the happiest meals I’ve ever had!
Both the food and the setting complement each other perfectly. Good food. Really good service. The kitchen crafts dishes of exceptional quality. The portions fill you up while prices stay reasonable. I can't see why anyone would give this anything lower than 5 stars.
The momos here were the best I’ve had since moving to the USA! Absolutely delicious and full of authentic flavor. Our server (I forgot to ask her name) mentioned she was from Pokhara, was so sweet, kind, and patient throughout our visit. The rest of the food was also really good. I definitely recommend this restaurant if you want to try Nepali cuisine!
Loved having lunch here! Delicious fresh amazing food. Such unique flavors and spices. The menu was huge with many options to choose from. Staff is also friendly and happy to serve you. Everything was top tier! They also serve so much food, its great place for family and friends lunch or dinners! Great experience!
This is a great place to have fresh, delicious food! I found this special place waking in the neighborhood. I enjoyed the best samosas and chicken chowmein. The flavor was so different and perfect. Also the portion for the price are amazing. The homemade sauces were the best, so flavorful. The service was also 10/10, Angeli was so polite, professional and attentive. Very welcoming restaurant, the whole experience was a 10/10. I will certainly be back with family and friends.
Tried the vegetable jhol momo and it was amazing — super flavorful and comforting. The broth had the perfect amount of heat and the filling was really well-seasoned. Only downside was that the momos were falling apart a bit and most of them opened up in the soup, which made it a little messy. Also, the menu could use a refresh — design-wise, it feels a bit outdated and could use a cleaner, more modern look. That said, I’ll definitely be back when I’m craving my momo fix.
We had veggie jhol momo and chili paneer for appetizers. Jhol momo could totally be a comfort food, while chili paneer was so flavorful and spicy that you just couldn’t stop eating. Thali Chicken was a nice sampler plate and the chicken was very tender. Both garlic naan and cheese naan were good. Paneer tikka masala was our favorite! Also tried Himalayan mojito, which was quite strong. Wouldn’t recommend.
Came here as a recommendation from a friend, and was not disappointed. Really great nepalese/tibetan food at pretty decent prices. I got the Himalayan smoked butter chicken which was incredible. I got rice and garlic naan with it and it was the perfect mix of flavors, super rich and creamy and savory. I also appreciated that there was a lot of sauce so that I really douse the naan and rice. We also go the chicken tikka masala which was pretty standard. And the chilli chicken momos. The momos were great too, with a lot of flavor and good serving size. Amazing place and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for southasian food!
Let me start by saying that this is the first place I’ve ever eaten out which serves food that tastes so homely! No extra oil or spice, just comforting, tasty and homely food. The price is great, portion size is ok, no fancy interior but food more than justifies. You should try atleast once. We ordered Wai Wai Sadeko (wai wai chat exactly how we make at home), Chana ko tarkari, goat curry which came with a side of rice bowl, cheese naan and mango lassi. Chana ko tarkari was great but goat curry was way more awesome! We went home happy and full :)
We ordered a variety of dishes because we were very hungry. While randomly searching for Nepalese restaurants, we came across this one and found it to be amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed all the food, especially the chicken chowmein, which is the best. Please try this place, as you will feel as awesome as we did. I highly recommend this place for authentic Nepali food and outstanding service. I'll come back again, obviously.
Being a foodie, I like tasting different cuisines.. if your office is next to Lexington Avenue I’m sure you will have a lot of options to taste.. of course I’ve tried many indo-Pakistani Bangladeshi restaurants here, but never tasted Nepalese food .. I was walking by and saw taste from Everest restaurant and wanted to give it a shot… nice location right in the heart of Lexington Avenue.. interior was good lots of tables to sit and eat.. Not much of crowd when I went on a weekday . Service was quick. They had a lot of options, but I chose vegetarian thali. It was about 20$ with tax . It was surely a different cuisine, but to be frank it was too bland and not my style… Italian also does not have a Puri or chapati … they did give a bowl of rice, Dhaal, potato subzi , pappas and sweet . I don’t like wasting food and almost completed the whole thali. All all the food had less salt and less flavor… I don’t know maybe that’s the authentic Nepali style. overall a decent experience… wanted to give three stars, but gave it a 4 star . ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Visited this Nepalese restaurant in Manhattan a few months ago with my family, who were visiting from New Jersey. The service was genuinely good and attentive and the food was okay. However, the Jhol chicken momo was a major letdown. The broth was watery and lacked depth and seasoning compared to what we’re used to, which was a bit disappointing.
A quaint little spot in ‘Curry Hill’ The Jhol Momo was absolutely delicious, full of flavor and perfectly spicy. The Wai Wai Sedako was a great touch—crispy, crunchy, and with just the right amount of heat. The Nepali Chicken Curry had such a comforting, homely fragrance, and the flavors were spot on. But the real standout was the Veg Daal Thali—so, so good! It truly reminded me of home-cooked food, and I could tell it was made with so much care. Highly recommend this place for authentic, flavorful Nepali dishes!
Modest decor but fresh and tasty food. A new experience for the palate to have Indian flavors in a Nepali blend. The chili chicken mono’s were great and the tandoori chicken was quite a different, busy tasty, experience. The hot pot (stew) was good as well. All in all, it was a great lunch that was reasonably priced.
The food was missing that Nepali flavor. I think calling this a Nepalese restaurant is misleading just because the taste of major Nepali food like steam and jhol momo, choila, thukpa has more of Indian flavor than Nepali. Nothing wrong with that, the food tasted okay. But if it's going to be fusion dishes like Indian-Nepali food (which is also good) then call it that, don't make it sound like you are offering authentic Nepali food by using the name like "taste from everest". And it’s not as if it’s hard to find Nepali ingredients in NYC that you have to use other ingredients to make the food taste close to Nepali. Many restaurants in Queens deliver that authentic flavor, or at least make a real effort to. I have come to this restaurant twice and both times I wanted to give this review.
