Opinions de The Drunken Munkey New York
I really enjoy their lunch rolls, they are fresh and delicious and they have a great variety to choose from for the lunch menu. I really enjoyed their shumai and everything else I tried. The dressing on the salad is fresh, zesty and tasty. They always get my order right which I appreciate a lot because this does not often happen and so I really enjoy their delicious food. I want to try some other combinations so I can try more variety from the menu. The value is pretty great as well for the location. Everyone is very friendly and helpful and I really enjoy ordering the food knowing that it will be fresh and delicious. I’ll keep going there and would recommend that place.
Always great service, especially on work days when things are calm and food 🍱 is coming quickly from the chef 👩🍳. This is the better option for sushi 🍣 in the neighborhood, because of the size, price and quality.
I got the tuna tar tar and it was so good.
I love Akami because they offer the highest quality sushi possible for the money you pay. I don’t usually eat at the restaurant, but every order I pick up is perfect and ready on time.
This place is my go-to sushi place. Their fish is so fresh and their service is amazing! The prices are fantastic, especially the three roll lunch special. Three rolls, soup AND salad for $16. Their ginger dressing is INCREDIBLE!
This place almost never seems busy but we finally tried it and WOW it was fantastic! I particularly loved the Akami Sashimi Rolls they offer (in both 5 and 10-piece varieties) which are special rolls without any rice. I’d never seen anything like that before and it was an awesome and delicious way to have a sushi roll without all of the carbs of the rice. Will 100% go back!
Great little sushi and Japanese restaurant. They offer a fantastic lunch deal for $10.95 where you get soup, salad and a bento box with your choice of protein, rice, dumplings and a small sushi roll. Service was fast and polite.
Great sushi!! We ordered here late one night, the food came on time, the restaurant gave us an extra roll and the fish was so fresh. Just moved to the area and I think I found my go-to spot for takeout sushi. Would definitely recommend.
The food was amazing from the sushi we ordered to the veggie rice. Everything tasted Fresh and Vibrant, and then to top it off the Dessert was phenomenal. I really enjoyed this place and will definitely be ordering from here again. Delivery was also on time. And the order was correct. My new sushi spot for sure
We have ordered here many times and every time we are blown away. The fish is so fresh. My family and I are avid sushi eaters - this is genuinely a hidden gem in NYC. And the price! You can't beat it. Honestly delicious and amazing. One of our favorites.
I've been ordering from Akami for 9 years. The food is always good and fresh. the delivery people are always so sweet!
I've done takeout here a few times and have had no complaints.
I live close to this restaurant. I highly recommend going there and having the food. When you order food it doesn’t look and taste the same as it would when freshly prepared and served. Excellent lunch specials. Honestly the best japanese lunch specials in Manhattan.
Amazing food, great service, very unique spot. Unlike any other Indian I’ve had in the city. Have lived in UES forever and just came for the first time - what a gem. Cocktails are fantastic, food was delicious, and the host and our server were very gracious and friendly. Will definitely be back!
Absolutely amazing dining experience. Authentic Indian flavors served in an upscale fashion. Everything here is perfect- from the service, to the food and even the cocktails, and let me just say, they do not skimp on the liquor! The desserts were Michelin worthy. Will definitely be back!
The food was excellent but it was the service that made the biggest impact. It was a busy Saturday night and we called about the possibility of walking in. Instead of waiting until we got there, the host reserved the spot at the bar so it was ready for us when we arrived. Unfortunately, the kitchen had a delay in service, but Thomas, the bartender, was so communicative and went above and beyond to make sure our experience was wonderful while we waited. The food was ABSOLUTELY worth the wait. Will definitely return.
This is a cozy restaurant serving stupendous Indian food. I went with a good friend for dinner. We had the chili cheese pizza which was unique and delicious. The lamb kebab was tender, juicy, and flavorful. They served the byriani in a pastry shell, unusual and a good idea since it kept it moist and preserved the flavor well. For dessert we shared the carrot cake, yummy. They have unique cocktails. We both tried the Wise Old Munkey, very nice. Our waitress, Catarina was. Dry attentive and prompt. She made us feel welcomed. The Maitre D’ , Garett was also courteous .
I love this place. I had the lamb vindaloo. Very spicy and delicious served w naan. Had a white wine and to finish a bartender created calvados mixed with BnB. Outstanding service, food, and vibe. The bartender and staff are all in suit and tieu’s looking stylish and harkening back to the old days. Love it. My fave Indian restaurant in NYC.
This was our first time at The Drunken Munkey — and it was wonderful! We live on the west side, and I’ve been wanting to visit ever since I passed by and saw a sign on their door offering free hot meals to those in need — just specify whether you prefer vegetarian or meat. The first time I saw that sign, it truly warmed my heart. I knew I wanted to support a place that gives back to the community. Little did I know, the atmosphere would be amazing, the food outstanding, and the service — if possible — even better! We were so impressed with the whole experience that we’re already planning to become regulars.
Impeccable, professional (and yet very warm and welcoming) staff. Super fun music and atmosphere. Delicious food and fabulous cocktails. Oh, also? This restaurant takes care of its neighbors, offering free meals to the less fortunate every night after 10pm — and they make it inexpensive and easy for their paying guests to help. Can’t wait to come back!
I loved my dining experience at The Drunken Monkey! The food was terrific, the drinks were amazing, the service was very personalized, the music was great, and the bartender even made a special punch drink on the house. Also there was food leftover, which the waiter carefully wrapped up in different containers. One of the best Indian meals I've had in a long time! Highly recommend!
Amazing find! The dishes tried were all great, and the service was fantastic. Very nice decor and ambiance. Would highly recommend the chicken dum biryani, cheese naan, chili cheese toast, pani puri, butter chicken, and drinks with a twist. Be sure to reserve ahead as walk-ins are unlikely.
I've been meaning to visit and finally made it to see what the hype was about :) to be fair, I had heard it was amazing for cocktails and the night vibes, but I just wanted to go for the food so we went for a weekend lunch. I actually loved that it was quiet, and got to enjoy our server's full attention. The food was amazing, but for lunch only Butter Chicken Tikka Masala was available for curry, so I would love to go back for more curry options. My onlyyyy suggestion/request is a wider straw for the mango lassi! The lassi was too thick for the narrow straw so it was super hard to drink.
The food is really good. We ordered some lentils, the butter chicken, some bread and rice and everything was very good. Not that spicy and the chicken was cooked perfectly, super tender and saucy. We also had samosas to start, chicken and vegetable. Both were very good. Vegetable ones were my favorite. Thanks for everything.
Ordered through the website and my lunch special was delivered within 30 minutes. Good quality fish and I’ll be happy to order again.
This place has a nice vibe, might worth trying if you're in the mood for something different and if you are around. The butter chicken and garlic naan were tasty. However, it was surprising (and a bit disappointing) that two of the starters we ordered arrived cold. I have never seen that the okra fries served cold
Just came here for the first time a few days ago and loved everything we tried! Would definitely recommend the pani puri for anyone, the samosas, and the chili cheese toast as starters. We went for the paneee tikka masala and vegetable korma as our mains with rice and a side of garlic naan. Definitely healthy portion sizes but maybe a little too much food for two people! Rounded out the meal with the cardamom creme brûlée which was delightful!!! Would definitely have more of those. I hear great things about the cocktails but the mocktails were just as wonderful and would highly recommend trying. I'll be sure to make another trip back here soon!
Romantic and cozy vibe. Dinner for two was fab and delicious. I recommend the Lamb Biryani and the fried cheese appetizer. The staff were very helpful and polite. Unfortunately we didn’t receive one of our appetizers but the waitress eventually brought us the dish and didn’t charge us for it. I also recommend the cocktails which are all served in crystal cups with unique garnishes.
First of all, Marisa is an amazing server and such a sweet person. I went there for an early dinner with a friend and she was so attentive, fun and personable. My friend loves the place and she recommended it but I personally give the food a 3 out of 5. It was still good and I cleaned my plate but not what I was expecting. The food has a British Indian influence and was lacking spice and flavor that I’m used to for traditional Indian food. This place is great if you or people you go with can’t handle too much spice or find Indian flavors normally too strong. The portions are a bit too small for my liking and the price. The service from Marisa was absolutely impeccable and worth asking for her when you come.
I ordered the shrimp bento box. The shrimp looked like it was seasoned but really needed more flavor. I really wanted to add salt. Same for the tempura. Sushi was pretty good as was the salad and soup. Portions were good. I expected more. Oh well. Service was great though.
This is a decent on 92nd St for Indian food. They have a wide variety of drinks. Great place for having fun with friends and family over drinks. The atmosphere inside is nice too. They've taken inspiration from typical Indian restaurants for the interior design. The appetizers were really great. Unfortunately, the main entrees were very passable.
Came for a quick lunch as it is right around the corner from my hotel. Nigiri and sushi roll were bland. Miso soup was also quite lacking. Fish was definitely not as fresh as I would expect at a sushi restaurant. Wegman's to go has fresher fish. Rice was dry/hard.
Cheap sushi, get what you pay for. The food is cheap, but it also tastes cheap too. Sushi left a weird taste in my mouth, and I suspect that the fish wasn't fresh.
Ordered food from here today and I am not sure if they were having a bad day or it was just me, the fish was off and I mean literally off, the seaweed was tough as leather. I have no idea why and the whole thing tasted rancid. even the rice tasted weird, I Literally took apart 1 roll and tasted everything individually to make sure, I was not going mad. I am not sure what happened but if you are thinking of ordering might wanna save your wallet. P.S There are a lot of good reviews online for them so I honestly believe it was a mistake and a bad day but they are never seeing a dollar of mine again ........ The two missing rolls are the one I ate and threw up and the one I took apart
I don’t write reviews often, but this place made me so sick. I got the lunch special from here. It tasted okay, but I couldn’t finish it - it was too chewy and salty. Within a few hours I was so violently ill I couldn’t keep water down. I was sick all night and it took over 12 hours for me to be able to drink water again. It’s been almost 24 hours and I still haven’t graduated to food. I do not remember ever being this sick from food before - seriously concerned about the health and safety of the kitchen here. I didn’t even get anything raw.
Waited more than 20 minutes for food. Salmon rolls are weirdly sweet. Chicken is overcooked. Too much jalapeno in teriyaki.
