Opinions de The Marshal New York
Ordered the cacio e pepe pizza and the side of broccoli for my last night in NY. I am so glad I did. It's just delicious. The broccoli was pretty lemony but I am not mad about that. I love lemony broccolis. The pizza was the right amount of done for me and it smells so good. Will absolutely keep this on my list of places to revisit!
I used to live near this restaurant & I’ve got to enjoy their brunch. My favorites were their biscuits & homemade jam. It’s a small but cozy restaurant so I recommend to make your reservation ahead of time.
Stand up up take a bow The Marshal. So delicious!! The meatloaf is worth a month of diet tradeoffs. If you had one meal left before you die, make it this one! It's like pot roast and paté had a beautiful love child and bathed it in an umami sauce. The truffle and mushroom pizza is a winner. The Brussells Caesar is anchovy forward. The meatballs a tad firm for my taste, but tasty like childhood. The NY State wine was worth a try. Overall, great service, friendly staff (Charlie and Wesley(?) are the awesome owners) who will answer questions and point you in the winning direction. The outdoor section adds to the winning concept. Delicious food from delightful people. Visit often!
There is a lot to love about The Marshal: the food, the atmosphere, the staff. But for me, the Burrata, Cherry Tomato, and Basil pizza is what keeps my wife and I coming back time and again. I've always been a "As much meat on my pizza as possible" guy but that all changed after my first bite of this beauty. The flavor combinations are exquisite and you don't feel heavy and bloated after eating it. 10/10
Chef Charlie Marshal's wine pairing dinners were superb! The ambiance of the space is lovely, the food was delicious as always, but having a different wine paired with each course, and having that wine explained by a representative from that wine company made the evening unique and informative. We went to two different evenings and I highly recommend it!
We came to the city for the holidays and have had mediocre service and food all week. But this restaurant was hands down the BEST in every category! We will definitely be coming back.
Food, drinks, and service were incredible! My husband and I stumbled on this place on a date night in NYC, and it was absolutely perfect for a date night! The only thing is the restaurant is tiny tiny so don't think about having a large dinner party, but for a more intimate dinner or lunch, I would highly recommend it! The burrata was our absolute favorite dish! 10/10 recommend!
Locally sourced, sustainable NY state ingredients, including beer and wine. Delicious flavors and beautifully presented.
Tiny and expensive, with good service and true farm to table cuisine. All the offerings: food, wine, beer, are from within about a 200 mile radius of the city, with most coming from participating farms at the union square farmer's market (by far the best in the city). Even the condiments are locally sourced. The food was absolutely delicious. It's expensive, but I'm OK with that as the quality and freshness of the ingredients was incredibly obvious. We chose to do the "farm sides" as tapas, so be aware the portions are quite small and generally not sharable by more than two. The burrata was great, and I've had it in Bari, so I know what it really tastes like. It didn't have the characteristic "bleeding", but was delicious. The inside is quite small and can get crowded and moderately loud due to the trendy but unfortunate modern restaurant design in which the floor and walls are bare and absorb no sounds. There can be a wait here. The wine is local too, and let's faced it NY wine can be hit or miss and while there are great ones, even as an overly proud native I have to admit this is not one of the top wine growing states. The beer selection is pretty small, not sure why as they aren't on tap, but the quality is good.
My wife and I enjoyed a fresh and delicious, farm to table, Valentine's dinner at The Marshall last night. The special menu had a good selection of appetizers ( brussel sprout salad, meatballs), entrees (duck bacon wrapped diver scallops, beef short ribs) and a shared apple cobbler for dessert. The fresh baked bread was fantastic! The atmosphere is cozy New York style seating, the service was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. This was our 4th time at The Marshall and will definitely return in the future. Enjoy.
You know when you go to a place where the food is so good that you don’t want to stop eating even when you feel super full? Yeah, The Marshal is that place. It’s a pretty tiny restaurant with a bistro sort of feel that we checked out for brunch. The biscuits are insanely good and worth a visit alone, the breakfast pizza was awesome as well. Service was on point, restroom was perfectly clean and food came out quickly. I honestly can’t wait to return the next time I’m in NYC.
My husband and I sat outside for a late lunch here around 3PM on a Saturday. It was difficult to choose what to order because the whole menu looked so good. The mushroom gnocchi was great and my husband loved the burger. I hope to try more of the menu next time I’m in the area!
I ordered a BBQ ribs to go on lunch at 11:30am, thanks for opening at such an early time, giving me opportunity to try this dish. The girl is very patient and friendly. $17 per order and contains 5 ribs, taste good and tender. Price is fair enough. If I have chance, definitely will come back and try more dishes on dinner time or brunch time.
Delicious brunch. The frittata was so good and the biscuits (small portion) was quite filing! They also offer blankets for a warm outdoor experience! For vegan/vegetarians: I had the egg frittata which is not vegan/vegetarian. But they were nice enough to replace the sausage with a side salad. The breakfast potatoes were perfect mix of crispy and soft.
Had dinner here before seeing Chicago... Be aware: this place is very tiny. The table felt a bit cramped (table for two along the wall), but the staff was wonderful and the food was amazing I'd highly recommend the meatloaf (house specialty). My friend had the chicken with goat cheese and loved it. The meatloaf was a significantly larger portion. Also delicous: sweet potato au gratin, green beans, and the chocolate fudge.
The pizza was great. So great that I forgot to take a picture of it until there was only one piece left. This is why I have the rather sad photo of a single slice. Apologies to my friends at The Marshal. The person who took are order was also super upbeat and welcoming. The setting was cozy and neat so can’t complain.
The Marshal, located in the Hell’s Kitchen district of NYC Manhattan is a wonderful spot for dates or groups. Their menu is not limited to pizza and even their pizza includes accommodations for all diets. Seating is limited, and even throughout the Pandemic they have social distance seating for those who might still be wanting to go during the Covid era. Prices are estimated $15- $30 for an average tab. All ingredients are locally sourced including the drinks.
Would give 4.5 if I could only because space is VERY tiny and they try to cram too many people at tables. Other than that, AMAZING. WOW. Everything is local and beyond delicious. Service was so welcoming and refreshingly honest (e.g. if a dish we asked about wasn't her favorite she told us). All the entrees looked fabulous, but the mussels and ribs were a can't miss. And do not overlook the farm fresh sides! Everything was so good. Seems slightly off the beaten path but not very far from the Broadway theaters slightly off a Times Square, so a great pre-show place.
We popped in for dinner after a day of walking. The head chef and owner happened to be there and was absolutely lovely. He had great wine recs, and my sister and I thoroughly enjoyed the cacio pepe pizza. We had the fudge dessert and goodness it did not disappoint! Highly recommend this lovely restaurant for a bite to eat!
Very, very nice meal. I had the herbed goat cheese stuffed chicken breast, which was perfectly done, just a tiny bit of crisp on the skin, but juicy and delicious. It came on a bed of porcini mashed which was also heavenly. The asparagus side was very good too. Service was also excellent. 10/10 would visit again.
The meatloaf is spectacular. BUT I have a criticism. It may be my pet peeve , but when one pays for an entree I think one should get something with it. So I had the meatloaf and a glass of Pinot noir. The check with tax was $61.00. ( plus of course I tipped a bit over 20% as the waiter was terrific) - so it came to $75.00. Now for that I would think I should get mashed potatoes with it. Nope . Thats extra. I always find this kind of pricing a bit of a shake down. I realize rents in nyc are high and margins are tight, but to me it sets a bad tone. Perhaps I’m just old school. Anyway if that doesn’t bother you, I highly recommend. What I had was fantastic. Eating out has gotten very pricey for mere mortals. Potatoes don’t cost much. I probably won’t be back. But I think they do well without my biz. So perhaps I’m not their audience. I’ll go back to my local place I go to that gives you mashed and spinach with your dinner. It says WELCOME to our restaurant.
A little gem in NY. Food was absolutely delicious and it is all locally sourced. The ribs were fantastic! Juicy and tasty! It was our last night in NY and we couldn't pick a better place. Paula has been very friendly and helpful. If you don't know what to choose, follow her advice! Great place!
I took my parents here for a late lunch (2pm) and it was PHENOMENAL! We got the seasonal Autumn pear salad and the seasonal autumn pear pizza (we love a theme) and everything was absolutely delicious. Well balanced flavors, not overwhelming, perfectly filling. And the espresso martini is also amazing. I will be coming back to try their other pizzas!
Excellent pre-theater dinner. We had the barbecue baby back ribs and the two kale salad. Followed by the smoke duck breast personal Pizza. Service was prompt and friendly with recommended this to friends already. Edit: Re-visited for one of their wine pairing dinners. AMAZING. Learned new wines and had a great evening.
Always a fabulous experience. ⭐️ The staff is super pleasant and the food, which all comes from the brick oven, is out of this world. The pizza is always a dream come true and the buratta is an amazing leveled-up breadstick app. True gem in Hell's Kitchen and always going back for more. The drinks are good to the last drop, highly recommend the pear inspired cocktail. 🍸
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5 stars) The Marshall - Fantastic Farm-to-Table Dining Near Times Square! Great spot for a pre-theater meal. Delicious plates including standout deviled eggs, creamy burrata, and mouthwatering ribs. Intimate setting with elevated farm-to-table cuisine. Conveniently located walking distance from Double Tree Hilton Times Square. Highly recommend for a quality dining experience in the area. Pros: Delectable menu Convenient location Excellent pre-theater option Absolutely perfect dining experience!
I just happened to find this place by googling a good farm-to-table restaurant near my hotel while in town for a business trip. I had the beet salad for a starter and the stuffed goat cheese chicken for dinner. They were both so delicious and fresh! I finished the meal with their chocolate fudge and ice cream dessert. The waitstaff was very friendly. I would definitely come back the next time I’m in town.
I suggest this place often to people visiting and have been myself many, many times. It's the perfect spot to get a farm-to-table delicious meal and cocktail before a show or if you are just in the neighborhood. It's a few blocks away from the hustle of the theater district so not touristy but close enough you can walk over and make it to your show. The service, food, beverages and atmosphere are always impeccable. Their menu changes with seasonal items but can attest nearly anything you choose is delicious. It's small but I think adds to its perfect NYC charm. Highly recommend.
If you want an exceptional meal that is prepared with the values and principles of sustainability, then this is a must when you are in NYC. I have taken a couple of groups here over the last couple of years and it is always a highlight of our time together. Charlie, the chef, is super conscientious about the ingredients and impact he and his restaurant have on our future and you can sense that with every bite you take. Everything I have tasted here is off the charts with flavor. Appetizers we’ve had include: Farmer’s Market Salad, Wood OVen Mac & Cheese with Bacon and Baby Back Ribs. For our main courses we have tried all sorts of pizzas including: Three Meat, Margherita, Mushroom & Homemade Pork Sausage, Vegan, Summer Peach and Farmer’s Market. The dessert we chose - the Chilled Chocolate Fudge with local Bee Pollen and Honey Comb with Vanilla Gelato was outrageous. There are a lot of choices in NYC, but this will be my go to place to wow people I dine with. If 6 stars were an option, The Marshal would be more than worthy!
Super cute and cozy restaurant. There are not too many seats in the restaurant so be sure to book ahead. We went on a Tuesday and it was busy. Really liked the deviled eggs (comes with crispy dehydrated carrot chips!) and bacon slab appetizers. The meatloaf (their signature entree) is delicious and so is the pasta. Got the strawberry shortcake for dessert and really digged the cream they used in it - slightly thicker and not too sweet.
If you are in NYC this is a must go. The food is absolutely delicious and the staff is amazing. Noah was our server and he was very informative and down to earth. A fabulous experience from start to finish. The Burrata and deviled eggs were out of sight. Also the pizza with the arugula and prosciutto was delicious. We finished off the meal with a blue berry cobbler. All the food is fresh and you can tell they really care about the food that ia presented. Thank you for the wonderful dining experience.
Very quaint, and cozy. The food spectacular, the service top notch. The owner Charlie is very attentive, personable, and friendly. The staff follow his lead. The food was served hot and delicious. The waitstaff was outstanding. The desserts were decadent and delicious. This now our NYC go to restaurant. Thank you Charlie and staff for an awesome experience.
Had a wonderful lunch today! Staff was welcoming and professional, including Charlie, the owner. Enjoyed a Rose cider, a hard cider, and a margaritas pizza and Farmer's pizza. Both were delicious and wonderfully served. Lovely interior as well! Will definitely make this a "go to place" every time we visit NYC. I highly recommend The Marshall!
So this is my second time come to this restaurant. First of all, if you don't know, let me start off by telling you that this is a FARM TO TABLE restaurant! Literally everything on the menu, comes fresh from local farms & dairies!! I started off with the caprese salad and chili maple glazed wings. They were great. For my entree, I had the three meat pizza, and let me tell ya.. it was OUT OF THIS WORLD. I love pizza and this is definitely one of my favorites now! Staff was super friendly & I can't wait to come back again :)
Last night I had the pleasure of dining at the Marshall, a culinary haven known for its creative flavors and unique presentations. Upon entering, the ambiance enveloped me in warmth and community as we were promptly greeted with refined bravado of Americana. As the evening unfolded, behold the visual cacophony of flavor 🙏🥰 (ask for Dawson from Kalispell) At the end of the evening, I found myself reflecting on the exquisite journey of taste, The Marshall had offered, an experience, undoubtedly worthy of reverie! Namaste 🙏
The Marshal is a small but very cozy spot serving elevated American food. There are some highlights: our server was great, even as the restaurant got very busy at peak times on Saturday. Food wise, their small plates were very good. The deviled eggs were the best I've had, and we also enjoyed the tomato sides and bread. Some space for improvement (or things that were not for us): some of entrees really didn't have that much depth of flavor--the gnocchi, for example, tasted too much like cream of mushroom of soup. We'd come back, if only to try some of their other small plates.
My husband and I went to The Marshal for Thanksgiving lunch, and we absolutely loved it. We had the special Thanksgiving 3 course lunch for $85 per person. We chose the Beet Salad, and Brussel Sprout Salad for the first course. Both were very tasty and a very reasonable portion. We both had the turkey for main course, and it was delicious. Generous portion and the turkey was perfectly cooked. The pumpkin pie and apple pie for dessert were also amazing, with the apple pie being the major stand out. I would love some more of that pie! The staff were friendly and attentive, and the service was prompt. Overall, we loved our lunch and would definitely return.
Cramped if you're doing anything other than sitting motionless, but atmosphere is really nice nonetheless, and everything else about the place is fantastic. My husband loved his Bloody Mary, although it wasn't spicy enough for me. Mimosas were delicious. French toast was good, buttermilk biscuits and short rib hash were delicious, but far and away the star was the baby back ribs from the starter menu. Absolutely gorgeous sauce. Be careful, though, because practically everything comes on really hot cast iron skillets and in those close quarters, it's easy to burn yourself reaching for your drink.
The food was amazing!! Farm to table! Locally sourced meats/fish, produce, wines! We had the burrata, served with home made flat bread in their brick oven, absolutely yummy! A beautiful salad, and the steelhead trout, served with broccolini! Charlie, the owner was great at suggesting wines from Long Island and the finger lakes based on our flavor profile! We will be back! Thank you for an amazing dining experience!
I've been here many times and I'm always so impressed by the food and the staff! My favourite restaurant in Hell's Kitchen, this farm-to-table eatery has incredible options and really great portions. Their meatloaf was some of the best I've had in my life. Their pizza combinations are out of this world.
It’s a very small restaurant with cute interiors. We’re not super hungry so we had three appetizers and a salad to share which was more then enough. We had Mac and cheese, chicken wings, and ribs. For the salad we had beets salad. All were delicious. For dessert we had the cobbler. The only issue I had was they don’t serve decaf coffee which was a bit odd!
Top notch farm to table restaurant - I felt like I was transported to a small town in the Cotswalds! The entire crew was so passionate about the menu, ingredients, local wines. Highly recommend. They also managed a severe seafood allergy perfectly! Good was delicious.
Stumbled on to this restaurant through Google. Catching a show in the area. What a find! The food was delicious, the owner and staff were very nice and informative. We started with the Barrata with the wood stove bread, delicious. My wife had the trout, I had the meatloaf. Both were delicious!!! Look forward to going back and trying the other dishes.
We got there early so we didn't need a reservation. (4:00) You definitely need to call ahead for a reservation as it's a small place and serves fresh farm to table food. Dawson was a great waiter. Charlie the owner was really nice! We started off with cocktails. We then had the pizza which was delicious. We also got the short ribs and they were very good too! Everything is made in the wood fired oven. This place has been here for 13 years and I would highly recommend trying it.
The deviled eggs are great. They happily served the duck prosciutto topping on the side for the vegetarian at our table (who would have happily eaten a dozen deviled eggs if it was socially acceptable). Our server also cheerfully subbed thinly sliced duck breast for bacon on the peach-arugula-mozzarella-bleu cheese pizza. It was a heavenly sweet/umami bomb. The shrimp scampi pizza was just as good. Anyone who can serve a perfectly cooked shrimp is worth their weight in shrimp. The eggs plus two $18 lunch specials (a 10-in pizza and a small tomato and greens salad) plus the eggs satisfied three adults, which is why we The virgin drinks are maybe an acquired taste, but we'd happily stick with tap water and go back again and again and again, if only we lived in the city. Sadly, The Marshal will have to be a tourist spot for us. Definitely going back to try the roasted carrots, mac-n-cheese, and mushroom truffle pizza.
+Get $25 off through the link on my profile! Only got to try a couple of drinks and the deviled eggs because I was in a rush. Both were good! I enjoyed the potato-filled deviled eggs. Note that the menu became more expensive than earlier in the year, with the smaller portion of deviled eggs at $14. Would’ve loved to try the entrées and if i have the chance, I’ll return.
Came here right before seeing Wicked, very close to Broadway with a reasonable walk. Let’s start by saying when we first sat down, the waiter tripped and accidentally spilt a Coke all over me. You will notice though that my star rating is still at 5 stars, so that should say something about my experience here. Our waiter was SUPER nice. He totally made it up to me and sent us a free dessert at the end and checked on me multiple times. The food we got was incredible, all of it really but especially the Mac and cheese with bacon, and the dessert which was like a maple s’mores or something omg it is so good. Get it. Overall I would return. It was a great experience, small but nice restaurant with great location.
Let's put last, first. The starters were so good that at the end of our meal, we decided to definitely come back just to have the starters along with their dessert wine from the Brotherhood Winery. We've had the good fortune of going to this local winery on numerous occasions. Their wines are some of the best If you're a deviled egg lover, the devil eggs would easily steal the show. Somehow, the chef was able to cram a half dozen egg yolks into three half whites. The deviled eggs had tons of flavor. Great steelhead trout, and there's nothing like a good pizza topped with smoked duck breast. Great dessert, Maple Marshmallow Smores😋 Love the narrow, cozy, intimate space.
Quaint small place great menu choices. Loved the deviled eggs, corn Pizza, Mac and cheese. Our server, Taria, was wonderful. Also, the kale and sweet potato au gratin was terrific.
We were going to nearby Signature Theatre's Eurydice (fabulous!) and needed a place to eat c. Hell's Kitchen. The Marshal looked spacious and pretty online. In fact, it's far from spacious--a long, narrow corridor of completely packed tables. Very noisy. Very intense. Red-brick walls. Retro lighting fixtures. We felt we were in 1960s LA. But we ordered two salads--one double kale, and one with red & golden beets--and they were both sensational. Plentiful, healthy, delicious. What more could one ask for? Well, a little quiet would help.
Came to this place on a Tuesday evening and made sure to make a reservation because it’s hella kitchen and everybody eats out around there. It attracted me because of the Farm to table aspect. I got the Braised Lamb that came with Puréed parsnip and turnip. The lamb fell off the bone, was okay in terms of seasoning but the purée really brought it home. The broccolini and the sweet potato fried were cooked in the wood fire which I can appreciate but the sweet potatoes needed a little more time. I would come back to this place again and would recommend for anyone in this area.
Overall: Food was amazing. Service was great. Atmosphere was claustrophobic. I went to The Marshal on what ended up being a brutally cold night. It didn't take as long to get to New York as we thought, so we called ahead and asked if they could take us ahead of our original reservation time, and they said it was no problem. When we got there, we realized the restaurant was really narrow and small (and that they really couldn't take us right away after all). We ended up waiting almost 15 minutes. But there is no where to at all to wait inside. There's barely enough room to move. Had it not been in the teens that night, we could have easily just waited outside, but again, it was just too cold. We ended up awkwardly standing by the door/hostess stand as people and servers tried to move around us. Eventually we were seated by the window, but the server literally had to move the table out in order for us to sit. We were basically trapped in there for our meal unless the server was going to drag the table out for us again. I get that it's NYC and some places can be narrow, but there were just too many tables crammed into this tiny place. You're practically seated on top of other people. We ordered two different salads (kale and beet) and we ordered the Cacio e Pepe and delicata squash pizzas. The salads were delicious and flavorful, and large enough to split. When the pizzas came out, we pointed out that one of them was not what we'd ordered. To his credit, the server immediately apologized for the error and he put in a rush order for the correct one. We ended up getting a free pizza out of it, which was nice. The Cacio e Pep pizza was good, but that delicata pizza was downright delicious. The wine was also thoroughly enjoyed. As much as we enjoyed the food, I don't know that I'd head back there in the dead of winter again. We'll probably wait for warmer weather and opt to eat outside next time.
Came in for lunch been wanting to try The Marshall. Had pizza pepperoni lunch special. It was not crispy so we weren't impressed. 7/10 The salad it came with was very good and tasty and fresh. The salad i would eat again. 10/10 Ordered a side order of meatballs. I love meatballs but these meatballs were not good at all. At a strange aftertaste. Like a gamey taste I'm not crazy about that. 1/10 The burger wasn't great either it was meatloaf texture. 6/10 I'm giving 4 stars because the staff there are so friendly and service was very prompt and good. 10/10 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great pizzas! We also tried the steelhead trout served over roasted broccolini, cremini porcini ragout, sundried tomato caper beurre blanc and the cod with white wine & caper reduction over roasted sage & autumn squash purée. The trout was good, but wasn’t a fan of the combination of cod and squash purée. The portions of fish were small given the price (almost $40). The choice of wine by the glass is very limited. The place was PACKED. Small thin restaurant that can feel cramped on one side of the restaurant, neighbors being 1 inch away. The other side’s tables are adjacent to the was length-wise.
If you're strolling through Hell's Kitchen and in need of a bite, The Marshall is the spot to unwind. This cozy little restaurant offers a laid-back vibe, where reservations aren't necessary—even your furry friends are welcome! Yup, we enjoyed our meal right on the sidewalk with our pup by our side. Meeting my partner here for an after-work dinner was a solid choice. The deviled eggs were a tasty start, but the ribs were the real MVP—so tender they practically fell off the bone. Seriously, don't miss out on those! We also tasted the meatloaf and pizza, rounding out a nice meal. The atmosphere was relaxed and perfect for just hanging out without any fuss. While The Marshall is a delicious stop, it's not without its quirks, earning a solid 4 out of 5 stars from us. Whether you're in the mood for a hearty meal or just want a casual hangout, it's worth popping by. Enjoy!
We chose here for something different. This place gets Super Cramped and loud with seating for around 30 people. Apple barrel drinks were good. Deviled eggs were great we ordered it without the pesto... don't see how that compliments the dish to begin with. Husband was happy with clam chowder but pricey at almost $20. I had the burger, I agree with the other review on here about the consistency issue. The taste & texture is NOT a hambuger & they say its all beef. It taste and feels like something is mixed in the meat (like white bread & milk) to make it bland & mushy. I asked the waitress & she said all beef...its not great I've had better veggie burgers...Sweet potato fries were cold. Suggested tipping on the bill goes up to 30% 🙄👎 Everyone else in the restautrant ordered pizzas. If we come back I would try that & the lamb shank.
The place is incredibly small. Service was slow, my corn chowder soup was warm instead of hot so it got cold really quick. The food was good though. Small portions. Didn't like the watermelon drink I had.
Not sure how this restaurant gets such high praises as it is overpriced ($15 for a bowl of soup) for it's cocktails and food and both are just ordinary or borderline bad. The White Mule cocktail is not very good, or at least the bartender that made it did not do a good job. The ribs were sent back because they tasted like they were bathed in salt. The mussels were bland and the raviolis were boring and actually served lukewarm to partially chilled. The service was very good as the waitstaff was very friendly, and apologetic. The place is quaint so it gets very loud when filled. Too bad, because I was hoping for more.
"Nothing happens here fast." Was my husband's opinion. The staff was friendly, but less attentive than I hoped for. The food was "good", but my sirloin burger fell to pieces and had too many distracting flavors. My husband's ribs were "fall of the bone" tender but lacked a good smoky flavor. The music was loud and the place too narrow for comfort.
Food amazing! Service bad from beginning to end. Waiter never came to table until we finally asked, he had an attitude the entire time, staff almost seemed annoyed by people. Will give another try but service is as a miss!
We found the seating to be very tight and uncomfortable. We also found the restaurant extremely claustrophobic. We were not able to hold a proper conversation due to the closeness of other dinners.
Came here for brunch and they sat us outside because we didn’t have reservations enough tho inside was only half full. I get it’s a small and cozy spot. Amidst all the noise and pedestrians eyeing our food on the smallest of table ever, we enjoyed our lunch. I really wanted to try the “world famous meatloaf” but they initially gave me the wrong menu, and they don’t serve it during brunch/lunch. The smoked duck breast pizza and short rib hash was decent, nothing out of this world.
Over-hyped and over-priced. Had wanted to try this for a while given the decent reviews, but unfortunately the food was a let down when I finally did. We had the lamb shank and Icelandic cod, with mushroom and fennel salad as sides. The portions were small for the price. The cod was a little sad looking and tasted ‘fishy’; I know, I know, fish is supposed to be fishy, right ? But this had a slight hint of ammonia about it. The lamb shank was a bit burnt and dry on one side. It was served on a bed of mashed potato, which in turn was served in a puddle of ‘something’. (See pic) The fennel salad was a misnomer; a very small plate of arugula with a bit of cheese shavings on top. You really had to look really, really hard before discovering a few slivers of fennel buried underneath the arugula. The mushroom side was equally disappointing - mostly rice with just a small layer of mushroom on top. Moreover, the tables are so small you can barely fit two plates on them and guests are packed in like sardines. The server did not ask how the food was and to be fair, although I wanted to give them some constructive feedback, I did not say anything at the time as it would not have been possible to have a private conversation given how cramped the place was. Did not want to cause a fuss in front of the other guests as the server seemed like a decent guy. That said, overall a disappointment.
Food was basic, service was bad. Not kid friendly. We went with our toodler when it was dead. Our child was well behaved but they pushed us out saying they had a reservation coming and needed our table.
Quality seems to have fallen off significantly. Used to be a massive fan of their gluten free pizzas but our most recent order left much to be desired. Our pizza was missing multiple ingredients and the cheese was applied as if we were rationing during war resulting in a pizza that was nearly 50% crust.
The food was very poor and overall disappointing. The lamb shank was tough and seemed to be very old. Certainly not fresh. The meat should be falling off the bone as they advertised. But not the case at all. The chicken was dry and the mash that came with it was disgusting. I thought they were off. We mentioned these issues to the waiter and he just stood there. And then walked away without saying anything. We added a note to our online reservation that there was a birthday. They never did anything or said a word. So they clearly didn’t read their own reservation notes. What if we added that we had allergies? Plus, this restaurant is extremely overpriced. The table beside us also had issues with their food. We eat out regularly and will not be going back to The Marshal.
Visiting the city for the weekend so ordered delivery to my hotel after a long travel day. Ordered one pizza, wings, and Mac n cheese. Total with tip was nearly $60. Delivery arrived with no pizza which was first disappointment. Then when I opened the bag with the other 2 and saw the size I was more disappointed. The wings were dry and the sauce was not pleasant. The Mac and cheese was bland. Overall, for the price not worth it.
It's been a year already I will say this. The kale meatloaf is Nightmare fuel for the taste buds. If you enjoy gamey tasting food in a claustrophobic space look no further than the Marshall.
