Lived in Maxwell Park for years and this is my go-to Chinese. There are others in the area that are ok, but HG is consistently really good.
Christmas day lunch, we ordered several items and they all came out perfectly delicious.
The best place to get Chinese near 35th and MacArthur. Their dumplings are the best to be found outside of a select few dim sum places.
Perfect place for a lunch special, a break from a busy day or THE place for a Celebration! They will make a birthday, anniversary, or graduation special.
This place is awesome! Good prices, considerable portions and the employees are consistently friendly.
Great service. AFV on the tube. Food is delicious. Will definitely return.
Been coming for many years. I’ve eaten here but usually carry out. Soups are my go to. All your classic Chinese/American comfort food dishes as well. Fine Chinese carry out.
My favorite spot for shrimp fried brown rice and salt n pepper chicken wings. Dry beef chow fun is also good. Staff is great.
Their food is really great. I will be happy when we can dine in. The vegetables are fresh and the portions are a good size.
Great local Laurel District spot, yummy food and great service. I am so happy to have great long standing small businesses in my neighborhood so I don't have to support the gentrification businesses.
Been ordering here for years and every time i order the quality of the food is always perfect! Best Chinese food ever! I refuse to go anywhere else!
While you can't eat indoors during this covid protocol era their takeout service is pretty good get your order in before the dinner time starts and you might be able to get home to eat it in time for dinner time
local favorite for years. great service and fresh food. the waitress give great food suggests based on a simple description of what you're in the mood for.
Good food, great menu and they run their take out operation very professionally, keeping things clean and safe during this pandemic.
Been coming here for years, I love the food and the workers. I'm astonished at the speed when I get it delivered as well!
Went to this place on a whim after the gym. Thoroughly impressed: inexpensive, delicious, massive portions, spotless, and friendly staff. What more could you ask for?
Ordered takeout and everything we had was tasty. Great service and friendly staff
This place was recommended by a friend . I have been back 4 times since then . Great food great potion great price . Highly recommend Eastwood mushroom with pork.
This place is awesome. Have to eat there at least once a week. And I was kind of over chinese food before I discovered happy garden.
I really love this place I get my favorite thing there all the time the owner lady she is very nice and courteous great food in this time very good food
Happy Garden is my family's longtime go-to for Chinese (sit down and takeout). We know the staff well now, and they are always so warm and welcoming. It's nice dining in because it always feels like a private experience. Our regular order includes their beef chow fun, scramble egg and beef, salt and pepper pork chops, black beans chicken, and honey walnut shrimp. Their house soup is also always flavorful, and food comes out so fast. It is consistently delicious and so comforting. We never have an issue finding street parking, and we always get seated right away. Many years later, still one of our favorite spots!
A very delicious place to get some food. Usually busy so call ahead. The only thing I would change is ask for Salt & Pepper Fish a bit more fried. Looking forward to trying more dishes from this place. Great price for portions! Ate here before for Dine in and the experience is also very nice. The orange chicken is good here too! Thank you to restaurant employees!🥡

Excellent Chinese Food, very friendly staff that was very accommodating, food service was excellent and convenient. Great place for big family event or small family dining.
They are very friendly. The food is DELICIOUS FRESH AND HOT SERVED TO ORDER. This place is a very cozy place to have a family dinner or to just pick up lunch. I recommend Happy garden to anyone in the Laurel neighborhood or anywhere.
The best Peking Duck in the area. They consistently cook their veggies the same on each of my visits. Their food images mirrors the photos they have on site. This is my hidden gems in the area.
The food is excellent and very fresh. My children love eating there, I have taken my 9, 12 and 14 year old at different times and they all love the steamed oysters with black bean and garlic and ginger i have to get 2 orders of the steamed oysters because they taste amazing and we order the chicken chow mein along with it and it makes a great combination together. The service is excellent they are always so nice and very pleasant. They know my voice.
This was my mother's favorite place. On her birthday they always remembered her age and would hang a Happy Birthday sign for her family dinner. They always remembered who had allergies and went over the menu to alter any dishes to accommodate them. We just wanted to know what dishes to not order but they always went above and beyond for us. Talk about family friendly!
The second time I came here, the owner already recognized me and remembered my order. She cares about great customer service as much as great food. Everything I have tried has been delicious and well cooked. Even the broccoli is perfect!
Good food, quick service. Staff is very friendly. From the first time I came in, the staff introduced themselves and learned my name. Out of many many Chinese restaurants I've been to this is a first. Fried rice and noodles are great. Recommend black pepper beef!
Our go-to place for sweet service and fresh, delicious food. They are happy to tell what in-season veggies they have, including sweet potato sprouts, etc. Salt and pepper shrimp with shells on is a must-try. My mouth is watering!
This restaurant remains take-only and that's just fine. The food is fresh, the service is timely, and I love their stir fried items,

I'm 2 years of ordering from here, I have never once been disappointed. The food is always awesome!
Good food and nice atmosphere. Great place for groups of 2-12. Very nice staff that will answer loads of questions. They also do take-away.
Quick turnaround and great food. I love the crab butterfly, mu shu chicken, and honey walnut prawns. They can handle large groups too.
It's the best Chinese around these days without driving far. Excellent service but lacking in some flavor... You cover that up by requesting extra sweet and sour and you can enjoy the menu. I'm a chef so I'm a food snob, but I'm used to New York Style Chinese food and I was addicted to that. West coast Chinese is whelming at best.
Yifu Wonton soup. Get it. It's amazing. We've tried a bunch of the regular food and it's also good, but we're here for the soup. Definitely our go-to Chinese restaurant now. Located on busy MacArthur boulevard but you can probably find street parking close by fairly easily. I believe they only offer takeout at this point.
Pot Stickers: traditional thick chewy skin, pork potstickers. They were awesome, very flavorful and savory with ginger and scallions resulting in yummy porky goodness. Chicken chow mein: Bad news first: hella bland, as-is it just had very little flavor. Good news: all the ingredients were cooked perfectly. Chicken was tender and high-quality; noodles weren't too tender/soft which ruins the entire dish for me. Surprisingly, the whole dish was easily saved by dumping an assload of soy sauce in there. After that, it was actually pretty good, I'd actually get it again. But I do wish they'd just up their savory/salty game on this dish directly. Service was friendly. I got take-away but I couldn't tell if they are actually seating ppl or it's takewaway only.
Mostly good food. We've had a few surprises, like occasionally the green beans will be incredibly over salted. But the lady here, who I believe is the general manager and is there always, knows us and has remembered our dietary restrictions (they're not complicated) since day 1. They mostly do take out, but have plenty of seating for dining in.

The service was pleasant and Swift. I reccomend salt and pepper wings and BBQ pork fried rice.
Normally this is one of our favorite restaurants but on 12/12/22 the food was not quite up to par, not as happy as previous visits.
A good place when you are in a hurry to sit down or take out. Food was ok. Got a appetizer combo which was really just fried flour except the one with shrimp.
The Beef broccoli was not good, the meat didn't taste like beef, or it was all fat and way too salty. The portion was decent so I at least filled up on rice and broccoli. I will not return since I'm not big on super fried and mostly all seafood menu.

We got the cashew chicken and chicken with mixed veggies. For some reason the chicken tasted off, like it wasn’t even chicken. Both plates were not good.
Food was wrong, ordered $30 worth of food had to beg and pay for another soy sauce packet (they initially gave me two), pretty sure they just threw in some red pepper flakes instead of making my food over. Never going back.
You still aren't able to eat indoors. I liked this place before but not so much these days. Last visit, I literally tossed my food . Something was 'off' about it. However I like they have a fresh fish water tank with crab Also. Maybe the experience would be better if you could dine in.

Wish i didnt have to give even 1 star....This was a waste of money..... found hair in the food.... plus I could have cooked better....
Food is good, but last saturday i order beef ribs salt and pepper, there are to old, meat smell like wasbon refrigerador for long time. Also put too much butter and not tasted good. I am fortunately i got sick because i am the only one to eat the ribs. I am been eating a this restaurant for 13 years this is first time i am desapoint
First time here, so I ordered a simple chicken fried rice for a quick lunch. It tasted terrible! A chinese restaurant that doesn't know how to make a simple fried rice dish is a big no-no for me. Definitely not coming back.
This place is trash. Came here based on the previous reviews but... It's not fast, it's not cheap, and it isn't any good. For $8 you get just the entree. So I had sesame chicken. It looked like a good portion but it was all small chunks that were so chewy I'm fairly certain it wasn't chicken at all, at least not any I've ever had, (no flavor). The white rice, which you obviously order seperate was cooked perfectly but must have been cheap because it became rock solid after serving it. Got some dumplings, they were fresh but plain and all cooked differently; some crispy some soft. Total I paid $20 for me alone (not including tip), I wouldn't have minded if it wasn't so terrible. If that isn't enough: *The check I was given at the table said one price but at the cash register she added two dollars and couldn't accurately explain why. *When I asked for an itemized receipt she gave me one with just prices. I asked for one that stated what I ordered, so she gave me one in Chinese and said it was all she had. *The wait was nearly 30 minutes and the place was empty but for one gentleman who already had his food. *Rarely saw my waitress, though she was very friendly.
Awful. We ordered orange chicken, which didn't taste like chicken - or orange. Buddha's Delight was gross and tasted like it had been in the refrigerator for a week then microwaved. Chow mein with chicken was OK and the rice was edible. Never ordering from here again. So bummed out, this place is in our neighborhood and I had hoped we found a new Chinese place, but scratching it off our list.
