I want to give the food 10 stars but the smell as soon as you walk in 20 ✨ OMG! Get here as soon as can. This is a gem in the Temescal area. Came for lunch today and as soon as I walked in the smell was so aromatic. I mean I could have eaten the air. Seriously my mouth started watering. I order the fried chicken salad and got extra of the bbq sauce that came with it( I think it’s bbq sauce. It was brown) and literally dipped everything in it. That sauce was bomb. The chicken was fried perfectly and the sunflower seeds and sprouts gave it a good crunch. Going soon to try the Thai tea and Thai fried chili chicken sandwich a mouth full I know but I can’t wait to have my mouth full of that 🙃 This is a must try if you are in North Oakland and looking for something tasty to eat

First time with my family on a early Sunday evening. Sat outside bc we brought our dog. Kids loved the fried chicken and pork belly bowls. My tofu bowl was also delish. Kids soup noodles is great for a more plain taste of kids. Garlic noodles was a little too saucy. But still tasty. Overall great. Service was awesome. Helping with menu selection and prompt delivery.

Omfg. Want Michelin star level food in delightfully casual digs at normal-people prices? This is your spot. Just had the most melt-in-your-mouth brisket bowl. Beef was eye-wateringly delicious. Veggies steamed to a crunchy perfection. Jasmine rice fluffy. Annoying work day forgotten! Was going to take it to go and ended up staying to eat, drink some rose, and chill out in the cute surroundings. Officially one of my new fave spots

Got the garlic noodles, chicken fat rice, and fried chicken bowl. All of it was delicious. Sauces were fire. Can’t wait to go back without the kids who did also love the food!

Enjoyed the chicken rice bowl and the ahi poke bowl over mixed greens. Both were delicious. I was impressed with the greens because of the variety. I tasted arugula, watercress, and other greens! Really like the watercress. The chicken rice bowl comes with a delicious soy-garlic-bean sauce on the side. The sauce is heavenly! 👍👍 Very good selection of 🍺 on tap. I wish I lived closer to this place. I would come here much more often.

Oh my clucking goodness. This place is super tasty and has a great vibe. Came here during the smokepocalypse for a safe haven, and boy did I find one. Deep-fried chicken sammie goodness, tasty tater tots for days, and poached chicken that’s miles better than Rooster and Rice. Their iced coffee was even amazing. What kind of godsend is this place?

We stopped here for lunch & really enjoyed it. The tofu salad had the absolute best tofu I've ever eaten. Asked for extra sauces and would highly recommend putting the tamarind sauce on absolutely anything.

Excellent, excellent. And reasonable prices like $14/15 for an entree. The blistered green beans were nicely spicy and the garlic noodles were satisfying. Michelin star chef/owner, sunny sidewalk dining in dynamic Temescal district.

This might have actually been the best fried chicken sandwich I have ever had. Perfectly crispy, impossibly juicy, and holy what the spice. On top of that, a full bar, with great local beer options, and original cocktails. Put a fried egg on everything. They know how to fry an egg.

Can’t think of any spot with a better price to taste ratio. The newish Tanya special is so so good. Tofu dishes are just as tasty as the chicken dishes

Amazing food and vegetarian friendly! They also gave us a drink for free even though we only waited for our food for about 10 minutes? We think it might’ve been because some white people got their food before us even though we ordered first and they didn’t want to seem prejudiced? For context: My fiancé and I are Mexican. Who knows but we had a blast. Very friendly staff.

I am obsessed with Hawking Bird's tofu salad. It is one of the best salads I've ever had. The crispy fried tofu plus roasted cauliflower plus greens plus crispy things and seeds plus citrus vinaigrette plus chili jam equals flavor explosion. I think about it all the time. I will never stop raving about this salad. Also once I got my kids the tater tots and they still ask for them. Everything here is the best version of whatever it is.

I rarely eat in here, but when I do I enjoy the atmosphere and service. Much more frequently, I do take out, and it is always great. The ingredients taste fresh and perfectly seasoned, and it is always on time. HB is probably my favorite spot for take out in Oakland.

Kudos to the kitchen and management at HawkingBird. Got takeout tonight: fried chicken bowl W chick fat rice and curry fried chicken bowl. We been frequently this Oakland gem since it opened! The fried chicken consistency had been dodgy last year and I’m pleasantly surprised how nicely fried and succulent the fried chicken was. My husband LOVED the curry and will ask for extra curry on our next visit.

I got take-out getting a diversity of things. The curried chicken, tater tots, satay chicken salad and garlic noodles. Delicious, will order again. When I went in to pick the people were very kind and professional.

I love the delicious healthy food offered here. He of few restaurants I can eat during a cleanse practice. The best flavors. Clean and satisfying. It’s very casual so not a place to expect white table cloth service. A pleasant atmosphere with friendly service and delicious food that feels good for your body, definitely. I go often. Great for take out too.

Garlic noodles were good! I wish that the chicken was made to order and fresher. I saw a ton of fried chicken piled up waiting to be served and honestly that's how my chicken tasted—not fresh. Was a bit worried about cleanliness seeing a cook go on break and stick his entire arm in the recycling bin to collect cans.

Ordered the Thai Chili Hot Sandwich. It was bland, tough and soaked in oil. I was expecting something great and couldn’t even finish it. Overall, disappointing.
