Opinions de Neecha Thai Oakland
Politely hosted 20 of us coming from a Muay Thai tournament. Even though they didn’t have the dishware to support this many people, they made do and even gave us all Thai tea on the house. The waitress was wonderful, the food was great. Would definitely come back here!
I'm so happy with Neecha Thai! I got the vegan skewer with peanut sauce, the pumpkin curry, and jasmine rice. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the vegan options and service at Neecha Thai. Food was ready FAST. The pumpkin curry was so amazingly flavorful and the portions were massive. Even the portion of rice was big, they gave two containers for the single order. My one meal alone was definitely enough to feed two people. The veggie skewers with peanut sauce were a solidly satisfying appetizer. There were a variety of tofu and wheat-gluten (seitan) protein options. I'm definitely going to be craving their food now whenever I want Thai!
Ordered tofu pad see ew, noodles were super soft and chewy, perfect texture, a lot of tofu, delicious! Big portions and affordable. Nice smiling servers.
Neecha Thai is a reliable restaurant known for very fresh, oft unique California Thai cuisine at fair pricing. Its amongst the only Thai places I've ever considered a salad being worth ordering as an entree, or had lotus seeds in a stir fry, plus their BBQ gluten satay skewers are great for vegetarian diners. I've eaten at their former San Francisco location decades ago and was delighted to find their Oakland spot which has never let me down. In our 6+ months of "pandemic" they currently are not offering table service but stay busy doing a brisk business of pick up through a street facing window, and sell beer to go as well. Look for the specials as they often have things worth trying that do not appear under the regular menu options.
I had been going to Neecha for 12 years. Much to my surprise, they have relocated. But the flavors and the combinations of flavors in their dishes are mouth watering. They were so sweet, they knew what I wanted one time when I hadn't gone for 5 years! I adore them & have had nothing but excellent food & family like service. Fine them and go.
The menu is truly amazing and diverse, I wanted to try one of everything!!! The dining room itself is really beautifully decorated and painted, a festive and sophisticated aesthetic. Our server was super friendly, knowledgeable and just plain lovely.
After 10 years eating here I moved across the country. This was my go to. Still panging for the green curry, and life changing calamari to name just two. Best Thai in the Bay Area. Sweet staff. Can get loud at peak hours and small space so off hours may be best. Note** closed from 3 to 5pm
The garlic short ribs were so tasty and just the right texture! We also got the mixed vegetable green curry with shrimp and it was great. We started with the curry puffs and I really want to learn how to make it at home! Can't wait to come back
Hands-down, my favorite Thai food in Oakland. They have a great menu and really good prices for their quality and quantity. I tend to avoid their curry and usually get Praram or BBQ Chicken. My only complaint would be that their servers are a little gruff, but I'm sure they get all kinds.
Great restaurant, lovely staff. We tried that Kao Soi and it was so good, I took a picture of it and saved it on my phone to remember to order it every time I come here. Mango sticky rice is also very good!
I’ve had takeout and dine-in here several times. I love all of the dishes that I’ve had, but I especially love the Immortal Stir Fry. It combines lots of different flavors and textures in a delicious way.
Not your run-of-the mill Thai joint. Some care has been put into the menu and ambiance. The quality of the food is top-notch and the service is welcoming. Definitely a top contender as the best Thai restaurant in the neighborhood.
Their pad thai is top tier. Great flavor, huge portion. The Lychee Thai Ice Tea is good too and they put 5-6 whole lychees in the cup. So good.
Amazing taste , a must try restaurant if your a Thai cuisine lover
Delicious & fresh flavors, amazing service, great location and atmosphere! The staff here were so attentive and kind, parking was easy, and our food was delicious. We had Thai iced tea & pad Thai with chicken & tom kha & fresh rolls. Loved everything! Fresh Rolls (esp the Sauce!) was a highlight, along with the pad Thai. They also had non dairy option for Thai iced tea which was so appreciated and so tasty! Cozy atmosphere, warm lighting. Also great pricing.
We really enjoyed our food and in fact we visited this place twice. The food reminds me of my favorite Thai food from thailand. And the portions of serving are great.
Friday December 23, 2022, had a delicious lunch at Neecha Thai cuisine in Oakland today with my bro. Fast courteous service and tasty Thai food which is comparable to the authentic Thai food I get when we vacay in Bangkok, Chang Mai & Phuket.. authentic flavors that is true to Thailand. Thai dishes are sweet, salty, spicy or sour. On the menu, there are many dishes with thick noodles, vegetables, lettuce, and chicken, lamb, shrimp, or beef. Some dishes are more rice geared or contain fruits such as pineapple or papaya. Each dish highlights the region of Thailand it’s from. My brother is a regular here so he orders dishes not on the menu. That’s the kind of special treatment you get when you’re a regular customer and get to be friends with the hard working chef there and the back of the house staffers. So we order a Thai version of Bánh cuốn, a Vietnamese entree, which is made from a thin, wide sheet of fermented rice batter filled with a mixture of cooked seasoned ground pork, minced wood ear mushroom, and minced shallots.. in their dish, they used organic free range chicken instead of pork which is healthier. The flavors are on mark, the silky rice batter flour sheets akin to fettuccine but bigger is soft on the palate & a slight chewy texture but damn tasty with the accompaniment of the mushrooms, marinated ground chicken meat, bean sprouts, light sweet soy sauce & herbs in the dish. Highly recommended. At the end of the meal, our server gave us a surprise gift of ginger bread man .. a very sweet ending to a fantastic meal. Every customer got one actually. Nice touch Neecha Thai Cuisine! Keep up the great service and tasty good eats. You just earned yourself another loyal customer. I’m looking forward to ordering some 😋 seafood Pad Thai next visit 👍 Overall rating: 9.8/10 | Food 9.9/10| Service 10/10 | Ambiance 9.8/10 | Would I recommend to family & friends: for sure! My absolute favorite and must go to place in Oakland. I haven't wanted to try anything new around town yet because the food here always brings me back! Service is great, cute little restaurant as well. I didn't know what it was called but the green beef marinade sauce ( what the waitress said) should be an extra sauce you can order off the menu or placed on the table, I'd eat it with everything!
I love this place! The dishes and flavor here are amazing! Service was fast and excellent! I definitely recommend trying any noodle dish and getting a thai iced tea.
This place is great. It has a good atmosphere and the servers listen. Very authentic Thai food. Also great for vegetarians.

We got the fresh rolls, pad Thai, and Tom Yum, all of it was delicious, will be back!
It's so good I almost want to keep it a secret! Lots of fresh veggies, delicious sauces. My favorite is "the immortal" and the Kao Soi. Vegetarian masterpieces. Great if you want a satisfying vegan meal.
We came here for my brother's birthday with s big party. We called ahead and we're seated immediately when we got there 15 minutes after the call. They had our table ready. They were so attentive! Our water cups were always filled and yyr food was delicious and big portions. This is such an underrated spot in oakland. Highly recommend.

My fiance and I wandered in here when our go to taco joint was closed. My pumpkin curry was pretty good (shrimp was a smidge over cooked but my broth was piping hot) and he loved his noodle dish pad ke mao, said the flavor was on point. Nice service and food was worth it.
I hadn't been back in over 8 years and completely forgot about them. So when my friends and I stopped in for a spur of the moment dinner, I was excited to refresh my memory. We ordered to share: Beef Green Curry Chicken Pad Thai Papaya Salad Everything was really good. But I don't really like how their main dishes were served. Beef Green Curry - The curry was served on a plate over rice. I like my curry in a bowl with the rice on the side. I feel like you get more curry sauce and it's easier to scoop it out when it is in a bowl versus a plate. Also, easier to share with other people when in separate containers. Chicken Pad Thai - Whenever I order Pad Thai, the bean sprouts are usually raw and served on the side. In this case, they were cooked and mixed in with the Pad Thai. I'm a big fan of the raw sprouts and cooked noodle texture combined. For drinks, we had the watermelon slushie. And it was so good. You could tell it was fresh watermelon pureed with some ice, not much added sugar if any. Service is good. Pricing is reasonable.
I cheap and easy place to get good thai grub. The atmosphere is nothing special, but clean and warm. The service is fast and friendly. They have a wide variety of both veg and non-veg items. They are willing to change just about anything for you. It was 5 stars. I'm taking one away for not giving away rice. I ordered curry for take out and they did not include rice. I had to go back and pay $2 for rice. Bad service.
One of our favorite Thai places. Especially for the vegetarian dishes, but all seem fantastic. The only thing holding back a 5-star rating is that the prices are getting pretty far up there. A recent price for lunch for two people was $25.
Delicious! We came here as a group of 6 and ordered Pad Kee Mao, Pad See Ew, Pad Thai, pumpkin curry and cashew chicken plus some desserts. Place was comfortable and service was attentive. Noodles dishes were ordered spicy and we were pleased. Cashew chicken was delicious only wish there was more rice. I’ve had better pumpkin curry but still yummy and hit the cravings.
I have tried this restaurant 2x so far and I must say I enjoyed the food both times, the first time I order on doordash and the 2nd time I sat & had dinner at the restaurant. The restaurant has a nice chill vibe and the staff are very nice & attentive. There was no long wait to be seated which was great, we were seated right away and given menus and water with lemons and I also order a Thai tea which was very good yum one of my favorite drinks, our waiter was very pleasant and smiled all the time ,she was great 👍🏾 I definitely recommend this place for some good Thai food. The plate presentation is cute , my food was served very hot 🔥 and came with alot of flavor. We order the beef spare ribs, BBQ chicken , stir fry eggplant wit tofu, and shrimp-chicken pad Thai 😋. I definitely recommend this restaurant!! Go try this local Thai food restaurant
Was looking for Thai food near my new home and came across this place. Food was nicely priced and looked good. I ordered BBQ Chicken which is bbq thighs, rice, salad(salad was missing)and sweet chili sauce. It was yummy. Loved the bbq char taste. Wish my salad was included. *think they gave extra meat piece instead) I also order pad kee moa extra spicy and add veggies this was missing jalapeños and side salad AGAIN. It also wasn't spicy. Actually kind of sweet.I had to add chili peppers and hot sauce *they provided and it was yummy) I added two packets of soy sauce cus it was lacking a little flavor. It's was overall good and I will be back again hopefully the experience will be better I'll even taje responsiblity myself for ordering late.
Friendly & nice staff who remembers what you like and modifications you had asked for on prior visits. Definitely appreciate that Neecha hasn't increased prices much in the past 1-2yrs like some other restaurants. Fav dish here is NOT on the menu, you'll have to ask for it by name - pronounced like "kway teu lod" (see picture): fresh flat/big soft rice noodles topped with sauteed chicken breast, mushrooms, various vegy in a slightly sweet soy sauce - it's a Thai-Chinese dish :) not sure they would have it when dinner time rolls around, but we have been able to get it during lunch time (may show up on their special menu, not the regular menu). Keep up the great service & delicious cooking!
Good size portions for the money . Had Pumpkin Curry w Chicken. Needs higher ratio of chicken (protein) to pumpkin (carbs) and rice (carbs) Good flavor. Good service.
Every I have had here is great. Been back several times. Just get a couple of appetizers like Thai Beef Salad. Delicious.

I ordered the beef salad and the tom yum soup. The beef salad was smothered in a super salty sauce and the tom yum soup was not as spicy and aromatic but overly sweet. I did notice they have a lot of vegetarian items and mushrooms in their dishes so maybe that’s the target clientele. But I will not be coming back :(
We went here for dinner on a Saturday weekend at about 7 in the evening. The place was inviting yet not crowded. The menu is good and has a lot of vegetarian options. We ordered Lava Salmon, Salmon Bowl, Basil Tofu and Curry Puffs, and a corn dish. One thing to note is that the serving size is above average. Lava Salmon was decent. It however was made in the Massaman curry instead of the red curry. Salmon Bowl was bland and had no taste. Curry Puffs and the Corn fritters were decent, but their cucumber salad was awesome!
I would give this place 3.5 stars. Lovely decor. Very cozy and prompt service. Food is decent. I have had tastier Thai food before. We shared shrimp pad Thai and veggie yellow curry. The pad that was definitely better than the curry.

My first experience the food was delicious. However, after a return visit customer service was a huge disappointment. I wasn’t greeted and when I decided to order the waitress walked away to answer the phone . I recently ordered take out and walked in with the waitress touching and smelling my food. Not a good idea with the pandemic going on. I asked her why she was smelling my food and she walked away again. The chef apologized and mentioned it was her first time seeing the dish. My recommendation would be improve customer service skills and order your own food to smell/ touch and not the customers.
The food was tasty but I was highly disappointed with the portion for the price. I ordered the empanadas(4)for $9 and they were smaller than my pinky finger. That's just unacceptable in my opinion. Also ordered the chicken yellow curry and it came with 2 small pieces of chicken . The rest was just carrots and potatoes. And they forgot to add my white rice that comes with it. Not happy. Won't be going back
I’m super bummed to downgrade my review. But after the experience I had there last night I must. As a long time patron, I immediately noticed upon entering that the waitstaff and cooks were new. Did the previous owners sell? Anyway, the food and the service were unacceptable. Our food came out in the wrong order and very far apart. We got the appetizer (fresh rolls that are excellent) right away. But then one person’s entree came, 10 minutes later the soup came. 10 minutes later and the second person’s entree came. 5 minutes later, mine came. The pad see yew which I had always rated as the best around was bland. The immortal stirfry was ok but the portion was much smaller than it used to be. The hot and sour soup tasted like it came from a can. The Mee Kow was just ok. I do want to give them another chance but I won’t try again for awhile. Thanks, Neecha Thai for the memories. Old review: Neecha Thai is a beacon of goodness in a time where other restaurants are gouging you while serving you tiny portions of mediocre food. Neecha stuffs their Tom Kha soup full of trumpet mushrooms and their eggplant stirfry is the best! Highly recommend Neecha Thai for a delicious dinner at a reasonable price.
Quite dissappointed with the quality of food. The curry potato puffs were tiny and not worth the price at all. The fresh rolls also fell apart as soon as you touched them and barely had any fillings other than spring mix that one would expect - example vermicelli, tofu, avocado etc.

The service was not good, the food even worse! No flavor, tasteless, the broccoli was raw and the worst thing was the rice was a stone, it was inedible, old. When we explained and complained, they denied us the things and did not want to listen to the obvious. We left the three plates almost full and they still charged us. A place that I do not recommend at all!
Today me and my girlfriend we were done with our date once we closed we were looking for somewhere to eat and this is our favorite Thai food place, we are arrived at 8:30 they are still open the whole restaurant is empty so they chose to set us by the bathroom we said OK we’re hungry we’re not going to worry about that, and then the waitress was Rushing us To complete our meal and not even asking are we OK do we need anything I mean it felt like like we were a burden on them you know once you pay and you spend your hard-working dollar and I choose a restaurant to spend my money at and for myself as a small business owner and to see such terrible customer service It’s very disappointing and it makes me write reviews like this I’m a local guy I was trying to support small business owner but they just lost two customers for sure and if I am you don’t go there too because my stomach started to hurt
They did not provide us our entire order. When asked if they could deliver the rest they said no. The order (that we did receive) was not mild like specified but instead VERY hot and not consumable. I will not be coming back here again. EDIT to respond to their message: PRIOR to this review I did call and ask what action could be taken. Even though we ordered through door dash they were unable to send us the correct order. They told us they would refund the missing items. They did not. This issue has been resolved now through contacting door dash. Publicly responding to a review as if we had not spoken on the phone is not the way to go. I stand by my review. Horrible food. Horrible service.
My office used to be a couple blocks away and I’ve coming here for years even after moving office. Very disappointed with the recent portion reduction. I understand food prices are increasing but this is not how you offset it. Neecha, you’ve lost a loyal customer.
I thought it would be good to give this restaurant a chance since it's received some good reviews. So I ordered a salmon bowl, a papaya salad, and a bowl of coconut milk soup for take-out. The salmom turned out dry. The papaya salad was a small portion and simple but not outstanding. And for the soup, I asked for no meat and no tofu replacement but they threw in tofu and lots of it. This experience was rather disappointing. Tip: Check out Daughter Thai Kitchen restaurant, also in Oakland, and an excellent destination for flavorful, well-prepared, Thai food.

**Unfortunately, I need to share this disappointing experience.** When my girlfriend and I arrived at Neecha Thai, I made it very clear to our server that I have a *severe allergy to onions*. For every item we inquired about, the first question I asked was, “Does this contain onions, or can it be made without them?” I was thorough and direct about my dietary restriction. We ordered spring rolls and two other dishes. I ate the first two bites of the spring rolls with the sauce. On the third bite—without sauce—I immediately noticed a strong onion taste. My mouth and throat began to itch and tighten, and I realized something was very wrong. I immediately spit the food out. The servers quickly came over after noticing I was in distress. I informed them that I tasted onion, and that I needed to leave immediately to take allergy medication. The staff apologized and admitted they had “pulled out” the onions from the spring rolls but didn’t realize the **onion oil** could still cause a reaction. They removed the spring rolls from our bill, but we were forced to leave and could not finish our meal. Frankly, the entire bill should have been comped. I had a severe allergic reaction because the staff did not take my allergy seriously, despite my clear and repeated warnings. It’s incredibly frustrating that onion allergies are often dismissed or not treated with the same seriousness as other food allergies like peanuts. **Food allergies are a medical condition**, and restaurants need to acknowledge that. If your kitchen cannot safely accommodate a guest’s allergy—**be honest and upfront.** Train your staff properly, know your ingredients, and if needed, let the customer know you can’t guarantee a safe meal. My experience could have been much worse, and that’s unacceptable.
