Food is great. You can take your time and brew your own tea. If you have your own zisha teapot or gaiwan even better. Check out the weekday specials posted near the door or ask your server. You CAN have your dim sum and eat it too.
First time in the Bay Area seeing a Chinese restaurant serving these seal tea bags (Kong Fu Tea). These tea bags are 20x more expensive than the normal tea leaf bulk(~$0.2/lb) that we had been seeing in most restaurants over the past decade. In another dim sum place such as Pearl Tea, Fusion delight, and Koi, they never served tea bag like here. Even the holiday price for $1.65 per person that' still super cheap for me. I used to buy those Tea Bag on Amazon for $50 w/ 20bags..
Absolutely delicious food with really broad and diverse menu. Very attentive, courteous and quick service. This is really authentic, high quality Chinese food. Generous portions, too. Bring warm clothes, though - it was as cold as a refrigerator inside.
Never would have given this place a second glance but a friend took us here for dinner raving about the food. Simple typical dishes but the flavors are spot on, every dish was tasty and rich. We'll definitely be going back soon. I hear their dim sum is great too, only served for lunch.
1st time having lunch there. Seems like a very good Cantonese style restaurant that serves dim sum and typical Cantonese dishes. Food overall is very good and tasty. Would recommend and eat here again.
New ownership. Good food and ample seating. Only downside is it's really cold inside in the winter and they don't turn on the heat. I seems there might be a smoking section in a separate part of the restaurant because it always smells like cigarettes near the restroom.
It's hard to find a place that does 功夫茶 (gongfu tea) and finding one nearby that also does dimsum has been a delight. The food is pretty good and very affordable for lunch.
I recently visited OTH and was blown away by their delicious dim sum. Every bite was a flavor explosion in my mouth! The menu was extensive, and I tried several dishes, but some of my favorites included the shrimp dumplings, pork buns, and egg tarts. The shrimp dumplings were perfectly steamed with a delicate wrapper that didn't overpower the juicy filling. The pork buns were fluffy and moist, with a generous amount of tender pork inside. The egg tarts were rich and creamy, with a buttery crust that crumbled in my mouth. The service was also excellent. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive, and they helped us navigate the menu to find the best dishes. The restaurant was clean and had a pleasant atmosphere, making for a lovely dining experience. It's clear that the chefs take pride in their craft and use only the freshest ingredients to create authentic and delicious dishes. I can't wait to go back and try more.
Came here because they have good dim sum for lunch. Visiting family in San Leandro. Very good and big serving portion. Would recommend to give a try.
We ordered the special-priced roast duck, stir-fried pea shoots in broth, and salted fish with eggplant. First, the portion of the stir-fried pea shoots in broth was quite generous, and it tasted delicious. We also ordered the special-priced roast duck, which came as a whole duck, freshly out of the oven, with crispy and fatty skin. We had to carve the duck ourselves. We need to order side dishes for the roast duck separately. The salted fish with eggplant had a bit more oil, but it had an authentic and savory flavor. It's worth mentioning that the service staff were friendly and patiently addressed any questions we had. Overall, the roast duck was a great deal, while some other dishes were slightly more expensive, they had excellent flavors.

The dim sum here is so much better than the ones in Oakland Chinatown! Parking is much easier too. Highly recommended
Delicious food and great dinner service! I want to try every dish on the menu. Everything is seasoned to perfection and the price is right. I loved the salted pepper ribs and honey walnut shrimp. Had a great time and looking forward to trying their dim sum!

Unfortunately, they keep raising prices here. The demand is so good that they keep getting business anyways, though. Come here on a weekend! We've been here on a weekday and while you can order dim sum a la carte, the quality is much worse (it tastes like they just heated up frozen dishes). On weekends, the lines are longer and the food throughput start to die down by 2pm, so try to come earlier if possible. That said, the food is still solid and they have a good selection of dishes. The hak gau and shiu mai are classics and done well. The chicken feet (for those so inclined, of course) have a good flavor. Other popular dishes we've enjoyed included the radish cakes (pretty standard), custard buns, and egg tarts. They're currently undergoing renovations, and I look forward to seeing the results!
Good and yummy dim sum! Their puffy eggy donuts are similar to an English popover or Yorkshire pudding, but dusted with sugar. It's a must, along with the traditional dumplings. Also, I don't know of many places that do the traditional tea pour, and they serve quality loose tea. Food comes out really hot. Great friendly service. I go regularly, and several staff know my name...nice welcoming touch. *Do not go and order dim sum after 2:30 p.m., unless you plan to eat really fast. Another reason, they may run out of the popular items. They close at 3 p.m., and the staff sit down to eat before getting ready for the dinner shift. Go early!!
I saw this from the street and decided to check it out. They have dim sum and it's an extensive menu. But it was in the evening so they were not serving it. However they were willing to put up some orders to go and I told them that it was okay to package them up cold. So I got two orders of baked pork buns, two orders of braised chicken feet and an order of Sesame balls. When I got home I reheated them and I thought they were all good.
The restaurant no longer has the dim sum push carts. One select the dishes from a paper menu, which is hard to read and the dull pencil does not help with the selection.
This place is recently reopened. The set up is much like the typical higher class tea house in China under new management ,and could be ownership. Dim Sums are good. 15% service charge is added in lunch time. And 18% will be in dinner time. Interior decorations are better then the original Oriental tea house.
Have not been to this restaurant for years. Dimsum is good but the classic steamed dishes like Siu-mai, Hargaw, Chicken Feet, Ribs are a bit pricey. They also add 15% service fee on the bill.
The food is generally tasty and arrived at a decent pace. The cheung fun was going to take 30 minutes so we cancelled that order. Only had a problem with the siu Mai being flavorless and the tripe was too chewy. Loved the eggy lava buns. Also we were seated immediately Saturday morning, despite how busy it seemed. It’s great that there’s additional rooms. Only problem is that folks are smoking right in front of the entrance and the smell wafts through the whole restaurant.
Took family for Dim Sum and enjoyed our lunch. We ordered “Fu-Jian” fried rice, Siu-Mai, Ha-Gao (Shrimp dumpling), chicken feet, steamed fish ball, BBQ buns & “Sa-Wong”. All food are delicious, tasty, fresh & hot. We loved the Sa-Wong as it is Chinese donut with custard inside. Also, we loved the quality of tea provided which is authentic and best around Bay Area among restaurant.
Opening again, same English name as before, the Chinese name has been changed though. The Stir-Fry Beef and the Bitter Melon w/ Black Bean Sauce was good.
So, Very authentic Hong Kong style place, gonna have to wipe down your dishware just in case, food surprisingly was amazing, had dim sum, chicken feet was awesome. The place is a bit old and does not feel like a normal restuarant, but if your craving for adventure and good food, you should try it out.

Old school dim sum. Good prices. First time here, but have eaten dim sum for a long time. Items ordered: Gai lan, BBQ pork buns baked, pan fried shrimp and chive dumplings, rice roll filled with BBQ pork, Shanghai dumplings. Tasty food. An option we chose was a tea service at the table (<$6), worth it. I saw some remarkable dishes that I will be returning to taste. It was packed with people and even more in another dining room (mostly Asian people, although there were some Latin, Black and White people as well). This place is family run and demonstrates that they want to be above your average hole in the wall dim sum house for the inside: fancy curtains, nice chairs, and stage for entertainment, the outside needs some TLC. Good alternative if you don’t want to deal with Chinatown congestion.

Popular restaurant. We enjoyed the lobster with noodles, Chinese broccoli, shrimp and beef dim sum and the pork buns, which were exceptionally good.
The dim sum is decent at this restaurant located right off the Foothill Boulevard exit on 580. Steamed items like Shrimp dumplings, siu mai, beef globes, black bean spareribs are well done and generously sized. Their chow fun is pretty good too. Fried taro dumplings lacked any flavor. Oriental tea house is in a building that used to be Jerrys Pancake Parade back in the 60s and 70s. That explains the old school diner, 60s style restaurant decor. Prices are definitely lower than some of the newer flagship dim sum restaurants that have recently opened. I would say you get 15% more for 10% less. Waitresses were polite and helpful. Note that they automatically add a 15% service charge to the bill. Also they might also charge for items that they tell you "they ran out of". Basically inspect the bill closely before you pay. They have a decent size parking lot but it might get full if the restaurant is busy. The location is in east oakland so exercise the necessary precautions. Overall decent value and the steamed di. Sum items are pretty good. Perhaps we went in with low expectations. It is worth a visit if you're in the area. We feel the same.
Tasty and flavor is 3/5 in comparison to the Chinese food of the largest Chinese population cities. Portion of the honey walnut shrimp is outrageously small. Other items are okay
Visited last night. It was the first time I’ve been back since the ownership has been changed. This means that the menu has been changed. Unfortunately my favorite dishes are no longer on the menu. This was super disappointing. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and try different dishes. My husband wanted shrimp fried rice and we got chicken and corn soup, beef chow mein, half a duck, Chinese broccoli and mango pudding. My kids loved the mango pudding. I prefer fatter chow mein noodles myself but the soup was good and the mango pudding was good too. The Chinese broccoli was probably the tastiest dish we ordered. You can order it to be cooked a variety of ways but we just got the stir fried with garlic. I didn’t add extra soy sauce or sauces to anything but my salt loving husband did and said it was good. Overall, the food was fine. They forgot to give us bowls for our soup until a few minutes later (after bringing the big bowl to the table) when I got someone’s attention. Most restaurants bring bowls out right away when you order soup or already have them on the table so your soup doesn’t sit there and get cold when it comes out. Also, the mango pudding dessert was brought out with all the other food which is distracting to the kids who just want to eat dessert all day… it should be brought at the end when you are done with all the other food. I do miss my old favorite dishes but it was ok. We probably won’t go as much as we used to though. The floor wasn’t super clean (saw a crumpled napkin two tables over and a duck bone on the ground at the table next to us) and the entryway smelled like cigarette smoke.
Dim sum is spottyin flavor, depending on the chefs mood, sometimes it's really good other times its not good. Parking is not safest so be aware to not leave anything in the car and not a lot especially during peak times. Service is not the best and sometimes rude...
Just OK. I was passing by, I was starving, so I stopped despite the 3.8 review and yes, it only deserves that. It took them more than 40 mins on a regular Monday to get me my first dish even then there were only 1 party ahead of me. There was a kerfuffle with seating and ordering. The food - sub par Xiao Long Bao. The meat is nice and loose inside but the skin is thick and not refined. Same for the sui mai. The pan fried turnip cake was good and the salted egg yolk pumpkin was good too. However, I don’t think their basic dishes were worth coming back for.

Tonight July 11, 2025. Food was surprisingly tasty for dinner (dine-in). Atmosphere was slow not many customers. Restaurant truly needs a major update in cosmetic, ceilings, flooring, too many paper print specials, and other marketing l. Bathroom need update and more thorough cleaning. Restaurant is surely under staff or not enough customers. In the end, food was tasty enough to revisit, price was decent. We ordered fishes, crabs, lobsters, roast ducks, vegetables, soups, Party of 23 of Chinese descent.

The price for the food here was fairly priced for Americanized Chinese food. Even if the food wasn't all that great. The flavors of the dishes seemed light and just lacking in general. We had ordered the salty and spicy fish, house special tofu, honey glazed walnut shrimp and the salt and spicy pork. Both the pork and fish were dry and it didn't really have any flavor to them besides salt, despite the garlic and the jalapenos in the dish. The shrimp tasted fine also the presentation of the dish was just lacking compared to some other restaurants. The house special tofu was the best dish out of the 4 ordered, but even then the flavors seemed too light. If you pay less than 15% tip they will call after you and tell you that you absolutely have to pay a minimum tip of 15% Why that wasn't already included into the bill if it's required? I don't know But they do give you a free serving of soup before your meal and a free dessert soup at the end of your meal. I was fine with the meal but after the rude waitress calling after me for a tip, but I don't think I'll be coming back.
The place wasn't bad, but the various dishes we ordered were kind of lackluster. The wonton noodles were on the bland side. The preserved egg and pork congee barely had any egg or pork. The fried rice was fine except for the amazingly hard and tough shrimp in it.
The floor manager (tiny middle age Cantonese man) is extremely rude. No wonder 18%tips is mandatory service charges in the bill. No one will leave tips for this attitude.
Me and my family went to here to eat. Staff members are very rude and prejudice. When asking for water staff gave a huge attitude. The food was ok but not the best. When we got the bill they charged us for tea. and when we asked to remove that from our bill, the server gave me huge attitude. The server then added a charge for the water. I would give this place 0/5 if I could. I felt uncomfortable as a person of color and will never go back here again. Please be mindful of these reviews. The restaurant sucks.
We were told they have new owners and a new chef. I had lemon chicken. The food was so dry and so overcooked, dry and not edible I had to return it. When I did the cashier doubted I paid for the meal even though I showed the credit card used to pay, my drivers license and the receipt had my name and last 4 of the card on it! He made me call my gf because she ordered the food. He finally gave me back cash minus the tax! He tried to shine me on as if I would go away! He has no clue of customer service! We will NEVER return to this place! The food was AWFUL! I gave them 1 star only because the app won't allow anything less! This is a horrible restaurant, exactly the same as it was a year ago. I would never recommend this pathetic spot to anyone...ever! A waste of time and money. No wonder this place was empty!
It breaks my heart to write this review because east bay needs more bomb dim sum places like this one. And honestly the food here is pretty good. If I were to rate this restaurant just for the food it would probably be a 3.5 maybe even a 4. That's not the only variable that matters however and I'll explain how this rating drops once we start factoring in things like price and service. What really brings the rating down is their customer service, inconsistency and greed. This father's day my wife made a $150 order for pickup. The first problem here is the price. Nearly everything on this menu is $9 and up. For $9 I could have an entire meal and be full, but here $9 might get you a side order of cold cucumbers. So as you can imagine $150 didn't really get us a lot of food. The worst part about things being over priced is WHEN THEY MESS UP YOUR ORDER. My wife waited nearly 2 hours to pick up our delivery and after all of that waiting and a 20 min drive home later we found 2 items missing from our order ($20 worth of food!). That is completely unacceptable. When you are charging these types of prices and making customers wait this long, we expect quality and professionalism. I can maybe understand them giving us a wrong item, or even missing 1 item in a $150 order BUT NOT $20 worth of food from two completely different items. On FATHERS DAY. Honestly if they were too busy to ensure correctness and quality they should not have even taken our order. I can only imagine the reason they queue orders to be 2 hours delayed is because the owner is trying to save up for a new Lambo or something because no other restaurant would do that without at least giving the customer a strict warning. No one told us it would be a 2 hour wait. And when we called to try to remedy the issue, no one picked up. Again I can only imagine it was probably because the owner was out playing golf with the $20 worth of food be keeps ripping off from customers. Overall don't come here. Too busy. Too pricey. Bad customer service and the food is just okay. There are better dim sum places in the bay. Oh and thanks for ruining Father's day.
My friend invite me to the restaurant .I don't like to go .Because I haved a very bad experience. But my friend told me She like to try it .So we went to lunch I don't enjoy everything there The food is not clean Everything is Dirty and very loud. Service is very bad. I won't go there anymore.
Amazing how busy this place is despite it being downright dirty and the food subpar compared to any other dim sum place close by. Our dishes were visibly dirty and everything had an off taste. Would not go here again.
Generally, the food isn't bad, but the service is terrible. The kids didn't drink any tea, yet they charged them $1.75 each. When we confronted them, they charged the kids $2.00 for tap water. This is the second time they did this.
What a dump! We were tired, hungry and wanted honest comfort food.... It's not here. Owners have no pride nor do they care about their restaurant. Restaurant is run down, dirty and overall very depressing. Ordered Curry chicken and it had ZERO taste, almost like water, rice and chicken.... My lunch partner had vegetable beef and said her beef was so hard she couldn't chew it and the bokchoi was very old. She wanted to complain, send it back and I said, let's just eat and get out of here.... What a horrible experience. Def won't come back here again and YOU would be well advised to STAY away. I'm noticing a trend of Chinese owners who want to make big profits but they're cheap and not willing to invest in a quality environment or quality food. It's really sad... I really found it ironic but consistent with the way they do everything else so badly that their good luck fish was neglected and looked like it was on death row.... The tank water was very low and the tank appeared to not have been cleaned in many months, maybe years. See my photos for more... This place is embarrassing. Bad food, bad choice, filthy dirty, broken down furniture and building, strange, unhealthy vibe.... The only good thing is we didn't get food poisoning.
it’s well known good Chinese food can come with bad/average service, so I overlooked the under 4.0 reviews that talked about their bad service. Chinese BBQ was decent, veg was decent, Salt and pepper shrimp was over cooked and not deveined. At $24 a plate, that’s hard to accept. Talked to manager (in Cantonese), literally gave some non-explanation that “it’s frozen shrimps, just the way it is, would have had to thaw it to clean it”, and mumbled similar response when I responded “so I’m just supposed to eat the shrimp with the poop attached to it because you didn’t thaw the shrimp before cooking?” Literally walked away, no apology, no “I’ll talk to the kitchen for next time”. When it was time to pay, charged us 18% tip automatically even with only a party of 3, probably because of concerns they messed up and we would stiff (wasn’t going to do that). So maybe don’t order the S&P shrimp or maybe specify for them to clean it before cooking (it literally takes seconds to pull it out with a tooth pick).
