Looked for local brunch places and I’m so glad we found this place! Everything was delicious! Highly recommend! Parking can be a bit tough to find though.

Good vibes here at Portal. Outdoor seating is the best place to be on a sunny day, but this time we sat inside since it was cold in the town. There are tv screens everywhere that has the games on there. It is perfect for Sunday footballs or early morning games mixed with brunch. The food was awesome and the drinks are great. The garbage bread was definitely one of the highlights for our brunch. It is a lot of food to share with the table. My favorite dish was the French toast. It had custard in between the toast. It was incredible. Servers were really nice and attentive. They all had a smile on their face as they helped us throughout.

I had a wonderful experience at Portal restaurant! I ordered the bacon burger, and while it initially came without the bacon, the waitress was quick to address the issue and even removed the price of the fries from my bill. Her professionalism and kindness made a big impression. The food was delicious, and the ambiance was great, though it’s worth noting that service can be a bit slow. I arrived at 1:10 PM and left at 2:41 PM, so patience is key if you’re visiting during busy times. Overall, the excellent food and exceptional customer service make this a place I’d highly recommend. I’ll definitely be back!

My first gastro pub! Found this place coming back from the A's vs Giants game. The front of the restaurant is a bar and a few tables but the outdoor patio in the back is great! People playing games, pets just chilling...cool vibe. And the view of the lake at sunset was picturesque. Not to mention the food! My boyfriend said it was the best burger he's ever had! Definitely going again when I'm in Oakland!

I visited Portals this weekend for brunch with my friend and absolutely loved it here! The food, vibes and customer service was absolutely amazing! Everything came out very quickly and was season to perfection! I would definitely be coming back here

Best fries I’ve had in Oakland. Everyone keeps talking about their brunch, which is just fine, but I’d rather come on a slower afternoon to sit on the patio with a heaping basket of fries & a beer. Not that I have anything against their brunch, but it’s first come first serve so it gets really busy, and the food is good but just didn’t live up to the hype. The service is always 10/10 though! They rotate their tap menu with lots of local & domestic brews, including some gluten free & kombucha, and the patio vibes are really nice especially if you’re facing the lake. The happy hour is pretty early from 3-5pm but they also have a good deal for tacos on Tuesdays.

Everything was absolutely scrumptious! We shared chilaquiles, a salad, and french toast. The french toast were to die for! The service was amazing. Our server was very attentive. The ambiance was calm, and the view was perfect! We had an amazing time, and we can not wait to be back soon.

Very cool restaurant with plenty of vegetarian options. The place may not look appealing from outside, but it's great inside with pleasant atmosphere, excellent people, and fantastic service. Food is really great with generous portions making it easy to order alacarte and share among a family. The dishes have sweetness to them in all that we tried, so had to spice them up a bit with crushed red pepper flakes. The nice lake next door makes it a great place to take a stroll right after eating. The irresponsible pet owners may ruin the stroll for you which is not on the restaurant, but I digress.

Pleasantly surprised by the quality of food at this gastro pub. The outside patio was very loud however during happy hour and we couldn't have a conversation. We also weren't sure how to order because the staff was scarce. But will return when it's less busy.

Brunch ends at 230pm. Nice crowd. Food was good. May need more help, service was slow, only one server so they did there best! But, overall a great spot to be for Brunch

Amazing food, very well priced, however they were extremely understaffed the night that went (6/15). It took 20 minutes in between every single interaction, including grabbing drinks, placing orders, getting the check, coming back for the check, etc. the staff seems so cool and they are definitely over worked and I hope upper management can solve this issue!

Clear sky and the sun was shining, wanted to break bread with some old friend and we came across this place. Loved how this place opened up to a whole outdoor patio. Service was fantastic, food came fast (which I love), and the dishes were magnificent. I enjoy the little twist each place had, like the kimchi with the wings was a crowd favorite for me.If you’re in the neighborhood come pay them a visit, but I sure will.

Sorry this place is so overhyped! I got the potato pancake which was a special over the weekend- and what came out looks like a pile of shredded potato hashbrowns with some thinly sliced ham barely mixed in with scrambled eggs on top. For $24 and listed as a special over the weekend was especially a disappointing meal- potato pancake wasn't in any shape of a pancake, wasn't crispy at all. It was very bland. Don't think I'll be back anytime soon.
