Opinions de Rockridge Cafe Oakland
Great breakfast spot in hidden gem Oakland neighborhood. Classic diner interior. The service doesn’t rush you, so perfect for meeting up with friends or colleagues. The menu satisfies all egg urges.
Five Star classic Americana breakfast with a sleeper cafe latte that exceeded all expectations. As a test, I usually order the eggs Benedict and a while it wasn't overly innovative, was absolutely solid. (on second thought, I ordered a Blackstone) Hollandaise sauce was good, eggs cooked perfectly, and a home fries well, yummy home fries. But the Cafe Latte was a surprise, so well made that I didn't need to sweeten it. This place is a slice of how this neighborhood used to be, and still here going strong after 50 years I believe. Thumbs up!
Traditional diner on College Avenue. I had only been inside once and sat in the window many years ago, but I have had delivery as my husband loves to order from here. This time we came with four of us and sat in outdoor table. It was busy for Father’s Day but the service was friendly and efficient. They have a lot of specials on the menu and then a large regular menu. Standard American and Mexican breakfast and lunch options. Tea was offered with honey and milk.
Rockridge Cafe has been in business for over 50 years serving breakfasts and lunches. They are open 8am to 2pm daily and over the years have served millions of customers.we had a fabulous breakfast. I had the Hemingway: poached eggs with lox and avocado served with cheese over delicious bread. My wife had their Alaska Omelette.
The food was so delicious, I haven't gone out to eat in public sense 2020 in March, so I finally went today and it was Wonderful, my waiter was so sweet too! I didn't get his Name but He was wearing all Black today. He was Amazing, I hope to go back again! Thank you for the wonderful service ❤
I’ve been here a while ago, but I still remember the ricotta pancakes very fondly

This place makes me feel like I'm at home on a Saturday morning. My go to breakfast? Ricotta Special: Two ricotta cakes, one egg, and your choice of two bacon strips or pork links. Served with real maple syrup. All for about $19.00. And don't forget some of the best coffee served in the East Bay. Never rushed, always friendly, reasonably priced and consistent. If you find yourself walking casually up College Ave some morning, Matt says check out Rickridge Cafe. It will take you back to your childhood

This cafe has been in the neighborhood for a long, long time and is a local favorite for breakfasts, brunches and lunches. The atmosphere is casual and diner-like and the foods as expected in a cafe style restaurant. There’s also some counter seating that looks into a busy open kitchen. It’s actually a nice place to hang out or meet up with someone.
A very beautiful and cozy diner in Rockridge. Food is in the americana/diner style, but there's also some latin influences. The atmosphere is amazing, the staff is very kind and the food is great, medium to high-medium prices. Coming here is always great and very fun.
Great place to start your weekend! It is a local casual cafe, great for a cozy brunch. Food is homey and simply amazing and tasty. Tacos are delicious. Service is reasonably quick and you may seat yourself most often and there are inside or outside options. Portions are generous and shareable.
Quaint cafe, real nostalgia look, serving breakfast all-day, till closing at 2pm of course. Friendly, speedy staff, food arrived less than 8 min. Clean, very spacious, not busy look, besides the white walls, $300 framed paintings ringing around guest. Food is good, fresh, portions could've been a bit bigger. Waitress apologized for wiping down my table when I went to the restroom. Very polite.

There was a pretty long wait, but once we were seated the service was great. The food was good actually, but just a little more expensive than I had hoped at a diner.

Short version: Friendly service, tasty ricotta pancakes, bottomless coffee, disappointing portions for the price—mainly the breakfast burrito. ——— My significant other and I were looking forward to a nice breakfast. He was thrilled there was a vegan option but when the burrito arrived, we were flabbergasted by the size for $17. We thought, at that price, it was going to be some epic burrito, but it was barely larger than the frozen breakfast burritos you can buy at the grocery store for $3.50. Pictured is half of the barely filled, baby-sized burrito. I should have had him place it on his palm. This thing was the tiniest restaurant / cafe burrito I’ve seen in my life. It did come with a small side of potatoes (photos on their website show far more potatoes). They would have been better in the burrito, but they didn’t have the right size burrito wrap for it to be any larger. On the plus side for those who drink coffee: if you order it, your cup will overfloweth as they are very on top of coffee refills. I’m not a coffee drinker so that doesn’t benefit me. Perhaps that’s what draws people in? I’m glad that others in the area seem to enjoy this place. The portions are better for small eaters, but way overpriced for what you receive. We’re probably not coming back.
Service was great, atmosphere is fine, it’s a small cafe on a rainy morning, and the simple breakfast plate of eggs, hash browns, toast, and bacon was subpar. For one, it was served to me too quickly, there’s no way that food was prepared in less than 2 minutes after ordering. And it tasted like it had been either under a heat lamp or reheated. The scrambled eggs were dry, toast extra dry, hash browns were cold and chewy, and bacon super crispy. The OJ was good, not freshly squeezed but no biggie. I can’t speak for Lunch or dinner but breakfast was mediocre at best.

The flavor is ok, not great. They butcher some dishes. Specially my favorite, chilaquiles. I couldn't take a few items out of the chilaquiles.
I came here twice . First time I order their breakfast sandwich ; which is just a croissant with eggs and cheese. I added avocado which was a $5 up charge. Their coffee is nothing special and was also about $5 . My whole meal was $25. Waaaaaay overpriced! I came back today because I wanted to try their ricotta pancakes they're known for. I got their special , 2 pancakes, 1 egg and 2 pcs of sausage. I don't understand why we only get one egg and yet it was still $20 . I like this place for the sake of being a local, casual diner,l. But the foods not that great and they overpriced !
The menu is so overpriced. I paid 18$ for a breakfast croissant sandwich with eggs and bacon! And the croissant was oily and tasted old. Absolutely not worth 18$. Neither the portion size or quality is reflected in that price!

Server was nice. Ordered a soup and sandwich (toast was almost inedible) and the cup of soup is served in a half size ramekin which was about 3 bites. We also got the chilaquiles and it was dry tortilla chips with dry eggs and mystery meat. They realized they forgot the tomatillo sauce and tossed it on the plate cold. That dish was $22. Looking at the reviews maybe your Mexican breakfast dishes needs some love.
Great ambiance with a classic diner vibe. Service was great. The price is way too high for the portions of food. Coffee grounds in the coffee 🥲

We spent $50, including tip, on canned corned beef hash mixed with a whole onion and a half brunt cornmeal Waffle. The scone was just a dry cupcake. The other dishes people ordered looked good. No one came around to offer water and check in until they saw me taking pictures of the food.

$8.60 for a side of 3 Burt cold pieces of bacon…. Everything else was super mid and over priced. Valt cafe down the street on MLK is half the price and 10x the quality.
