Opinions de Barrier Brewing Co. Oceanside
Barrier is on top of their game. They are vigilant about social distancing, masks, constant cleaning and making sure everyone is following the rules. And everyone's beer is always full and something on the table for your tummy. Always wishing them the best. They are doing the right thing!
This place rocks. ‘Nuff said Btw. Does anyone know what’s going on with the scenarios in the Lido Beach West Offices? Why does a beach even need an office? Is there even a CEO of the beach? Probably not. The offices seem a little sus.
So happy to have this brewery as my local brewery. They have some great beers and the staff that work the tasting room are great. Remember to fill your growlers on Wednesdays!
Great local brewery In Oceanside. The staff is always helpful and friendly in helping you choose which brew is best for your taste. Wide selection. Love you guys!
Barriers brewing co. Has the best IPAs around. With so many different sections and sometime limited favorites. They never disappoint. Keep up the great work fellas.
Try the King lager. Fantastic beer. Food truck outside. Great vibes. Great people.
Great beer and always some new tasty food truck out front. One of the only places in the surrounding area cultivating and supporting the creative community around us.
Dropped by for first time. Great beer. Nice staff.
Make this place a stop if you're on the island! Amazing beer, great vibes, and the food truck rocks!
Been coming here for years! Best beer and vibe! Dog friendly too!!
Eclectic variety of beers, dynamite staff, tasty food trucks, a definite place you need to visit if you truly appreciate good beer!
Great place, the atmosphere is so friendly and inviting. Bring your kids and dogs. The greatest staff.
Great brewery on long island .. the original og of breweries .. love its in my backyard . Beers as always is great and staff is always great as always.
One of the best breweries in the state! Plus it's on the way to Long Beach, which is perfect to get great beer for beach weekends.
Second time coming here, such a lovely spot! Will definitely be back here again! Dog-friendly, food truck outside!
Fantastic brewery with a great staff and very creative brewers. Top notch brews and a great spot to chill and relax. Phenomenal fluid!!!
Been coming here for years and service is always over the top friendly, and beer is great. This was my first post-covid visit and for anyone worried about social distancing they have done a great job ensuring this is possible.
I love this brewery! Always come when I’m on business here on the Island. Dog friendly too!
Great place for a good drink. Always love working with them for hosting unique gaming experiences
Amazing beer, great atmosphere and staff and there's almost always a great food truck to try.
Great, casual, local craft brewery. Always has a fantastic selection of beers, adding new ones all the time. Today, picked up Crowing Achievement, am Imperial Stout brewed with Crown Maple Syrup, made in collaboration with DeCicco & Sons... Excellent! Bonus: always free popcorn.
Love it... I travel all around the country on business, and I try to go to local breweries wherever I am to try the local color. Found this place on a whim, and it's super fun, great non pretentious scene. Good beers... perhaps not great... but good, and just an honest fun relaxed but energetic place to hang out. Loved it
Barrier is truly, in my opinion, the best overall brewery on the island. Barrier is by far the most creative brewery I have seen, experimenting with all sorts of sours, smoked beers, spicy (and spiced) beers, and everything in-between. They seem to have eased off the gas during COVID, but before it seemed as if every week brought a new experimental tap to try out. Thankfully the pandemic seems to have been kind to them, as their take out lines were always full and the makeshift outside area they had previously is now a full on beer garden with a food truck.
With all of the mediocrity in the Long Island Brewery scene, Barrier stands out like a wolf in a sheep herd. Just be sure to bring cash, because this fine establish doesn't want your credit card! A few blocks off the Oceanside LIRR station, and right next to a junk yard, Barrier is a diamond in the rough. There will usually be a phenomenal food truck on premise to pair with their vast array of beers. Their Money IPA is probably the best IPA brewed on Long Island, and their deep portfolio will ensure there is something tasty to drink when you stop in. The tap room is small, but I've definitely been in smaller. The staff were always courteous and the prices were incredibly fair. Servings range from sample pours all the way to growler fills, and at rock bottom prices compared to other spots. While it may not be the easiest place to drive to in Long Island, it would be a disservice to your taste buds not to visit Barrier.
A great local brewery tucked back in an industrial area off the main road. It's a cool space with seating at the bar and a few hightop tables. Beers are very good (Money IPA is a favorite), and Barrier is now doing some interesting collaborations with other top notch breweries (Carton, Other Half). They don't serve food, but there's sometimes a food truck parked outside. Be warned though, food truck and the brewery are CASH ONLY.
A bit off the beaten path since this is the actual brewery. It is open to the public once a week from 2 to 7 pm on Wednesdays. There is a tasting corner with a view of the entire brewery. Wiped out by Hurricane Sandy, Barrier is newly up and running again. Evan and Sean have gone a great job. The place is shining and brand new again. In spite of the hurricane disaster, colleagues helped them keep going brewing a unique beer with an upstate brewery. Local LI brewers joined with them to create Surge Protector. In the craft beer industry, they are a local find and one that prides itself in contributing to the beer lover's palate.
Top shelf craft beer. Good friendly service. A cool rustic look and paintings from a local artist that changes month to month. Bring your dog or baby stroller. Have a snack from the food truck, you won't be disappointed.
Dope brewery and atmosphere. Nice selection of IPAs, ales and stouts. Also the food truck outside had some good food as well. I’d recommend this spot to those who enjoy visiting breweries.
Best brewery on Long Island. Diverse and delicious beer list and great staff. I was already a believer and then I ordered kegs for wedding, which were a huge hit!
my favorite brewery. the beer selection is always above par. the staff are the nicest. vibes are great and the food truck has great food, the fried pretzels are the best
We love Barrier Brewing Co! Great staff l, relaxing environment with lots of events and daily special food vendors.
Nice vibes and super chill staff. I had never had an IPA I actually enjoyed until going here, so I gotta shout out the bartender for the solid recommendation
Barrier continues to have a great success story even thru the pandemic. Great beer, expanded tap wall, food trucks, live music, and cans to go. A bit off the beaten path and Goggle's directions are wonky because of the turn on to Access Rd -- but we'll worth the trip.
Great shady beer garden in the back. A long menu choice of draft beers available. Very safety conscious. Reasonbly priced and tasty food truck from 3rd RAIL. Kids and pet friendly. A fun outing.
Don't be fooled by the industrial setting, this is a great little brewery to hang out in! Some really nice beers. The Frau Blucher is def unique, never had a beer with that smokey flavor
Amazing beer, great staff, and fun food truck. You should definitely visit if you have time. The I door and outdoor seating is great.
Great local brewery. Wide range of unique and interesting beers. Out of the way but worth the trip! Money is a classic!!!!
Amazing tap room with a constantly rotating selection of beers. Kinda IPA heavy but something for everyone. Drinkable to a tee. Chill atmosphere. Dog friendly. Have some popcorn!
This brewery knows what's up. I was a huge fan before I started working with them, they just keep getting better and better. They make some of the best array of beers around. Seriously go with any style and try it and you'll no doubt dig it.
Good selection of high quality beers, very fair prices, comfortable space with great vibes and ample indoor and outdoor seating. Trivia night is lots of fun.
Great beer, great space, great service. Money IPA is an all time favorite
I have been coming year for a few years now since the brewery came to visit " The Hop Shoppe" in Staten Island for the Richmond County beer club. Their beer is always not your middle of the mall beer. They have numerous of styles on tap and in cans. They have beer for any type of taste, currently if you come to the brewery they have outdoor seating and they have a good truck with amazing food. This place cannot be missed. Moreover the outdoor seating is dog friendly, so bring the whole family. The best way to start is to ask for "the money". Update 2025: they're still making great beer, come thirsty and you will not be disappointed
If there's any brewery you need to go to, Barrier is in the top 5.
We chose Barrier for my husband’s 40th birthday party and it was amazing! Gabby and Christine were so amazing to work with and we received compliments all night about how great the event space and staff were. Thank you for making it such a special night!
The barrier has been around for quite some time and makes the greatest IPAs. The staff is excellent. Top notch service, super great atmosphere, always a great food truck, sometimes they have special events. I highly recommend it. People bring their pets. Have a good time!
One of my all time. Favorite tucked away nooks. Affordable, interesting, delicious fresh beer tasting room with a food truck always parked outside serving the best fish tacos I have ever eaten. The staff is so freaking nice and friendly, as are the people that go there. You can always find someone to talk to. Dog friendly! Also $5 flights on Wednesday. Understand this is a tasting room not a bar, they close at 10pm.
The best place to chill and cheers with family and friends or by yourself . Friendly service . You can be sit indoor or outdoors . There is a food truck to order food you can pay cash or credit and they brought your order to you where Ever you are enjoying . The brewery is behind the train tracks in an industrial area … COME AND CHECK BARRIER BREWING CO . Cheers!!
Barrier is so much fun! I don't drink at all but I've been here twice with one of my friends and to see my friend Dave host karaoke here. The atmosphere is great! My favorite thing to get is the chips and salsa it's $5 for a bag of chips and a jar of salsa which is an amazing price and the tortilla chips are perfect for dipping!
I don’t know what this Celina’s problem is but barrier rocks. And as a 30 something year old I can say one of the main reasons I love barrier is because the music is never too loud for conversation. Beers are great and bar tenders are all super friendly and attentive. Food is also delicious! It’s bar food lady go to Gordon Ramsey if you want a 5 star meal.
It's honestly hard for me to put into words how much of a fan I am of this brewery. High quality beer brewed with an unabashed sense of adventure.
Great brewery. Chill atmosphere. The beers are fantastic. And the staff is great! I just wish there were better food options from the truck besides frozen fried food. A Taco truck would be clutch. A food truck night where multiple trucks serve different options would be even better! UPDATE: THEY HAVE DIFFERENT FOOD TRUCKS THROUGHOUT THE WEEK. CHECK OUT THEIR FOOD CALENDAR ON IG. THIS PLACE DOES EVERYTHING RIGHT!! TRULY A GEM! THANKS BARRIER!!
My favorite brewery on Long Island. The IPAs are really good (Blue Shell, Headlines, and Strongest Geometric Shape are my faves!). Good vibes, nice people, dog friendly, and a good food truck. Can't ask for more
Came with the family on a Saturday for quality beers in the form of reasonably priced flights, in a pleasant and dog-friendly tasting room. Good energy and vibe. Love the vintage stereo setup and retro tunes. Kolsch-style beer was my favorite. Friendly staff!
Great beers! Love the atmosphere here. Food is surprisingly good also. I'll be back! Update: this place is a hidden gem. Some of the best beers around IMO. Specifically the kickin knowledge series. Gotta try em all!
Chill atmosphere with amazing drink selection. Definitely my favorite brewery on the island. And they exhibit local as well as up and coming artists on their labels. Quick walk from the train station. Love love love this place.
This place is great. The staff is really nice and the beers are awesome. A little food truck as well with the basics ties it all together. I would recommend showing up before 5:00pm as it gets pretty busy. Try the money beer.
The beer is great and the vibe is delicious... as long as you are into an off the path, warehouse type atmosphere. It is fantastic that they have the food truck parked outside for those that get hungry. I had a meat lovers pizza that was cheesy and meaty that simply shocked my brain. While neither the GD nor Phish were playing this evening, this place is typically thumping with jam band music. The music never stops at this joint (unless you are there before they open or after 11 p.m. on Friday or Saturday when they shut down).
Great selection of craft beers with bold, well-balanced flavors. Chill atmosphere and friendly staff made it an easy place to relax and enjoy a few drinks.
Great beer , prices and staff . Everyone is so chill and the selection is top notch. Eric is awesome and takes care of everyone .
Barrier Brewing Co. in Oceanside is a hidden gem that deserves way more buzz than it gets. The vibe is immaculate, with a rotating lineup of expertly crafted beers that keep you coming back for more. Whether you're into hazy IPAs, crisp lagers, or bold stouts, there’s something on tap that’ll hit the spot.Their flagship brews like Money and Imposter are consistently fantastic, but it's the creativity in their small-batch and seasonal offerings are fire. The staff is super knowledgeable and friendly. The taproom itself has a chill vibe perfect for hanging with friends, catching live music, or just sampling a flight. They often partner with local food trucks too, so there’s always something good to eat.
Stopped by for the first time ever in person yesterday, April 1. Eric was a phenomenal, friendly, welcoming bartender. Barrier is one of my favorite breweries on the island. I had three flights there and tried almost everything on tap. Cryomax will always be my favorite though. Loved their merch selection with the t shirts. Barrier’s carver was wonderful. Love a good Pumpkin beer.
My introduction to Barrier Brewing came through Tavour, which sparked my curiosity enough to visit the brewery in person. The opportunity arose when I was in the area with friends and family, and naturally, we seized the chance to explore their offerings. Our group of eight was treated to an impressive selection of beer, with a focus on hazy IPAs but also including stouts, red ales, and pilsners. The highlight of the night was a remarkable IPA called "Never Let Me Down," a collab with Sand City that lived up to its name. Double dry-hopped with a generous mix of Citra, Mosaic, Columbus, and Motueka hops, it stood out as my personal favorite. Alongside our beers, we enjoyed Firehouse BBQ, which only enhanced the experience.
One of the friendliest long island breweries! At least from my visit on a hot Sunday with my wife and daughter. Great beer selection too. You probably know the “money” ipa. If you live in the area. Lots of ipa options. Love the hops-naming on all the descriptions. I really enjoyed the Core Ipa. Took a 4-pack home. They also have a food truck here for some decent eats. And a backyard picnic area with corn-hole on non-90 degree days.
Great Beer. Friendly People. Friendlier dogs. Cool food trucks. Good vibes. One of my favorite after work spots getting more popular all the time but still feels like a secret hide out for people who drink great beer. Love this place. Make more O Ren Rishi soon please. Thank you again Barrier for helping us weather the storm!
Small but nice staff, good selection of beer, flights are the way to go if you're new to this beer. They are dog friendly and the food cart serves to the patrons.
A nice local brewery with good beer, and a good atmosphere (once you get inside... it's located in an unappealing industrial area). The beers are high quality and rotate fairly frequently so there's usually something for everyone.
Barrier Brewing Co. is the collaborative effort of brewers Evan Klein and Craig Frymark, located in Oceanside, NY. Brewing their first batches on a 1bbl system (2 kegs at a time!) in June 2010, the two expanded the business to a 5bbl brewhouse in June 2012 which operated for four short months before being severely damaged by Hurricane Sandy. After several months of rebuilding, Barrier reopened in late-February 2013. The brewery currently produces nearly 50 different beers throughout the year totaling 1500bbl annually, all of which is self-distributed throughout the NY metro area. Food: They don't serve food but they have different and great food trucks rotating there. It's in the industrial section of Oceanside so plan your eating options ahead of time. Brew: They have some amazing craft beer on rotation there like : Evil Giant IPA, Lights Out Stout, GreenRoom Pale Ale, Beech St. Wheat, Belgian1, Bulkhead Red, Rembrandt Porter, Dubbel Down, Cycle Saison, Cairn Scotch Ale, Antagonist ESB, Barnacle Brown, Dunegrass DIPA, Simple Lager, and many many more. My favorite is Tanto, American style IPA brewed with ID007, Motueka, Citra and Chinook - Bold and delicious.
I came here one night while there was a Mario Kart tournament in the back. I got a few flights, having the chance to try their many beers. There was a food truck outside so I got a panini. Overall it was worth the trip.
Good beer, friendly service, variety of choices on the food truck, cozy place to sit, and comfortably well made shirts! I've been hearing about these guys ever since my sister and brother in law moved to Hewlett, and finally got the chance to try them. I'll definitely be coming back.
Ordered a flight to try out their IPA selection and wasn't disappointed. They also had a Maple Stout on draft @ 12% that was very tasty. Cool atmosphere and bartender was chill also. Def recommend!
Very cool environment there. There’s a bar, the brewery section, and an outdoor area. Saw Dysfunktone play there the other night for their Album release and it was awesome. Acoustics in the Brewery were great and I would definitely come back if that band was playing there again! Great entertainment! Tried a flight of 5 beers on tap. Prices are very reasonable for the area. There were a few decent beers but didn’t love some of them. They have good popcorn you can refill for free there too!
Barrier has some great potential to be a great brewery. The vibe is always good. Last night the entertainment (solo singer/guitarist) was wonderful. The beer... Money is tired. Bring back Oceanwood!!! ❤️
FOR SEMITRUCK DRIVERS. DELIVERIES If you are delivering here there is parking available like sidewalk etc like they are the first building when entering the street if u pass them make right on first building to make u turn that brings you to intersection where building will be on your right direction wise i fallowed garmin from northern ny took ne down to 295 south to hillside ave after a lotof local driving ended up springfield hill st conduit ave penunsula rockaway sunset hwy atlantic ave then acsess road street name line up may not be in exact order but gives u some idea imo however it best to get down to rockaway from 678 then get nassau exp then rockaway then peninsula blvd then either east rockaway if thats a truck road or climb tort 27 which is sunset and go down to atlantic so on if any one knows better directions plase share cuz no one has any direction for other drivers these are my opinion please stay on truck routes only so 1 dock on your left down to road unloader comes around 7 am they r closed until then
This is a great concept for a brewery but falls a little short. The brewery is much bigger than the space for the crowd. The music and beer was good. There were children allowed in there and running around which was a big turn off. They had merchandise to buy that was also WAY overpriced. This place was suggested for me since I like craft beer and visiting breweries. If you feel like exploring it go for it but do not go out of your way.
Stopped by on a very hot day on my bicycle. I had a Classic. I’ll have to go back again and have a few more when I drive to Long Island. 8/4/19. Returned this weekend. I had a Lomax and took home some in my 32 .oz growler. Returned again on 8/22/20 had a new just released IPA and new required purchase of a hotdog 🌭. Hotdog took for ever to be ready.
Very cool decor. Friendly, attentive bartender, very chill. Beware physical danger: I've seen skateboards placed between barstools before and one shot across the floor through the bar when someone got up. Crowd seems varied in age. Art for sale, legit brewery with plenty of unique stuff on tap.
The drinks are good, if you are here for that just get it in the fridges in front and go home. It’s not a good place to chill. The music is too loud, it’s freezing in here and worst of all the food isn’t accommodating. The only thing I could eat here was a single bag of popcorn. Luckily the atmosphere is so uninviting I didn’t have to worry about drinking on an empty stomach because I could only handle staying for one drink. The bartenders are nice though.
This has got to be one of, if not THE most overrated breweries on Long Island. I have visited the brewery several times, purchased several different brews from local distributors as well in an attempt to grasp what anyone sees in their beer. Beyond the artsy cans I'm stumped. I want to like this place but it's beers are mediocre at best. Hop heavy with really no rhyme or reason as to the marriage of flavors. Beyond the hops, it has to be their process. I won't pretend to know what theirs is but maybe they should get Joe Grimm or Mike Saboe from Toppling Goliath on the phone for some pointers. The majority of this stuff is unpalatable. Yes support local but support quality too. Too many better options on the Island to have to resort to this. The icing on the cake is they sell their brews to locals like a beer mule on a trip back from Stowe. Overpriced except without the quality.
