Enjoyed a memorable 3 night stay in this excellent mountain pension. Ollomont itself is to be found in a beautiful valley extending north from the Val d’Aosta. The Locanda is run by a husband and wife team who work very hard to ensure that their guests are both comfortable and very well fed. On arrival, we were greeted by Charlie, the owners beautiful and very friendly Apenzeller dog. Our room was spacious with a view from the front of the hotel across the valley, a very comfortable bed and a spotless shower room. We took both breakfast and dinner in the Locanda – breakfast was a buffet of cereals, yoghurts, pastries and bread and jams with excellent coffee. Dinner was prepared and served by Gloria whose knowledge and transformation of local ingredients is second to none! Over our 3 evenings, we ate a variety of excellent dishes all freshly prepared and cooked to order. A real gem of a place.

Lovely location with wonderful Mountain view. The rooms are really nice and cosy, price is right. The restaurant is good, but a bit overpriced. The staff is lovely and friendly.

Very pleasant stay. The room is large and clean with a small fridge, a kettle, and herbal teas. A balcony with a view of the valley. However, where it falls short is the food. We arrive at the table and start with the single menu. We think the single aperitif (capreze) is included. We see that it hasn't arrived, so we ask for it later, and the waiter/head waiter replied (in Italian because he obviously doesn't speak French and only mumbles English) that we should ask for it first. Then comes dessert with strudel (single, like the starter). The meal was average and simple (the dishes were lukewarm). We pay the bill, but SURPRISE: we pay the entire menu, including the missing strudel and the appetizers. On top of that, we had to ask for the dishes, bread, and water all evening. We were served last, and some groups who arrived much later were served more quickly and were more pampered. We really felt like we were intruding. In conclusion, the rooms are superb for the price (hearty breakfast), but as for the restaurant and especially the welcome: move on; there are others in the valley, or better yet, head down to Aosta.

We went for dinner, on the recommendation of the owner of the place where we're staying. The food wasn't bad, but there are better places, everything was over-seasoned. I had pasta with meat sauce, and it was drowned in oil; I couldn't finish it. My companion's polenta with sausages was the same. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is a bit dated, with old furnishings (which is acceptable, but arranged in a slightly haphazard way, it looked that way to me). The quality/price ratio is a bit high, in my opinion! There are better places.

5 stars for the food. 2 stars for (our) accommodation. The restaurant is rustic and typical of the area. Nothing to complain about the food. The platter of cured meats and cheeses was truly good and plentiful. A special mention goes to the lard, which literally melted in your mouth. For my second course, I had polenta with venison. The polenta was good, with just the right consistency, and the venison was tender and flavorful. In short, a harmony of flavors for the palate. My daughter had ravioli filled with raw ham and fondue. Nothing to complain about here either. I tasted them and couldn't stop eating them. I made sure to mop up the remaining fondue so as not to waste it. The bread was also good. The house wine was good and paired very well with the dishes. The bill was also reasonable for the quality of the cuisine. Unfortunately, perhaps because the room was already fully booked and there were no free tables, they placed us at a makeshift table in an adjacent room in front of the bar, where the owners' little daughter was staying/playing. She repeatedly yelled and shouted that we were bothering her. But as we all know, children are innocent souls and can be overlooked. A few passing customers even stopped by the bar, standing and chatting calmly, practically above our heads. When we left, a table for two in the room was still free, just as it was when we arrived. Perhaps it was out of fear that our dog might be a nuisance? We remain skeptical and wish the owners good luck, because what they offer is truly worth it. These two truly nice and friendly people. Advance reservations are recommended.

A beautiful inn in a stunning location. It's a shame about the truly sloppy service. At breakfast, we had to ask for cappuccino and coffee because they were completely ignored, and one morning the bread was missing without any explanation or apology. The ashtray on the balcony was found full of cigarette butts and was never emptied during our three-day stay. Toilet paper was rationed. Given the near impossibility of finding a restaurant in the area, one would expect the staff to provide information or help finding a place; otherwise, the only option left was a quick bite at the shared bar. A real shame...

DO NOT BOOK this hotel. I booked a room in February for a night in August. Unfortunately due to health reasons I had to cancel and let them know in March. I have paid the full amount and they have refused any refund. I have contacted them several times and they have ignored me. Be warned - do not book or pay in advance.

The wait was too long. We asked for a menu and water ourselves. Even given the heat, at least water was important. An hour's wait for two typical, basic dishes. Expensive for the quality presented. €35.00 per person for two bread soups seems excessive. The soups were lukewarm, undercooked, and messy. Parking was impossible, but the local offerings are practically nonexistent.
