If you’ve never been to Big Fin Seafood, let this be your sign. From start to finish, the service was chef’s kiss—the kind that reminds you why hospitality done right never goes out of style. Located in the plaza next to Trader Joe’s (convenient and clutch), parking was effortless with ample spaces plus valet. We were immediately greeted by two hosts with genuine, big smiles, which set the tone for the entire evening. We also had the pleasure of meeting the chef, mixologist, and general manager—a personal touch that truly elevated the experience. Our evening was a full-on culinary journey. We enjoyed oysters, shrimp, newly crafted cocktails and bold wines, crab cakes, Hamachi crudo, poached king crabs, halibut, and yes—all of the desserts!!!! Every single one of them. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and somehow better than the last. The oysters were incredibly fresh, the fish was flawless, and the balance of flavors throughout the meal was spot on. There is a chef-tasting menu—which we didn’t experience this time—but after this meal, it’s absolutely happening on our next visit. The night ended with a tableside dessert presentation from the chef, which was such a memorable and elevated final touch. Incredible service, exceptional food, and an atmosphere that encourages great conversation and even better memories. I cannot wait to go back. Classic hospitality, modern execution, and a menu that delivers every single time. Love the experience fellow FIU alumni, Javier provided!!!!
Big Fin offers outstanding seafood along with specially curated ingredients and beautiful presentation. Our group loved the scallops, the halibut, and the red snapper entrees, which were creative and sophisticated. We also had the tuna appetizer. The tuna was just barely seared and melted in your mouth. Logan, our server, was very attentive. John, the manager, checked in with our group. There is dining both inside and al fresco. I highly recommend this locate for its fine dining seafood and would definitely go back.
As someone who detests the smell and taste of seafood, this place was amazing. (I took my husband there for his birthday as he really enjoys seafood.) As Orlando's only "Boat to Table" restaurant, the smell of fish was incredibly faint and practically nonexistent while on the patio. The atmosphere is classy without being overly formal so it lends itself to an experience that is accessible to most while not requiring extensive outfit planning. The staff: fantastic. All were welcoming and professional. Knowing everything about the venue and the specials of the day. Explaining the Chef's vision and flavor constructs. The GM comes around occasionally and checks in to see how the food tastes and if everyone is enjoying their food and service. John was very kind and very personable, sharing a few laughs before continuing his circulation if the table is open to it, or moving on if they wish for a more intimate experience. Now, what you came here for: The Food. As mentioned above, I do not enjoy dishes that come from the water, however there are some very delightful dishes that are from the land. Husband and I shared a Ceasar Salad for our appetizer even though there are several interesting dishes on offer. We just wanted something "fresh and green". I had the Cornish Game Hen and the flavor had such depth and layers... the leek purée was the PERFECT balance to the corn/jalapeño succotash and chorizo stuffing. The husband had the Swordfish with the boursin whipped potatoes and asparagus. He LOVED it. As in consumed every tiny bit of it. Feeling brave for his 40th birthday, I even tried a bite myself. I must confess, I actually slightly enjoyed it. The flavor is just so incredibly subtle in its "fishiness" that you could enjoy the other flavors and even the spot on seasoning. Trust me, I was SHOCKED! For dessert we partook of the Pineapple Upside Down. Made individually, the entire circumference has the caramelized sugar and the cake itself is layers of your expected yellow cake, but also with a pineapple cheesecake that just adds to the decadent creamy deliciousness. When brought to the table it is torched so that the top layer gets just the right amount of "burnt" sugar and adds yet another layer of flavor to the perfection. So, in conclusion, The Big Fin is well worth your time and money regardless if you are a fan of seafood food or not.
Had a wonderful dinner here over the weekend. We had a two types of oysters which were great, I loved the steamed ones the most! Beef carpaccio was great and had the full main lobster (1.5lb) and the chef special which was a mushroom cream pasta that was great. Side of macaroni which was decent. The service was on point and prompt. The chef and manager came out to welcome us and make sure we enjoyed everything. Would highly recommend. A good place to splurge
I chose this restaurant to celebrate my engagement proposal 🍾 💍 , and it was my first time visiting; an experience we will never forget. From the moment we arrived, everything felt thoughtfully curated. The atmosphere is refined yet welcoming, creating the perfect setting for such a special occasion for us. The food was exceptionally well executed and clearly designed with great attention to detail (The duck was exquisite, and the wagyu was truly outstanding 😮💨) perfectly prepared and full of flavor. A special thank you to Chef Julio Dos Santos for such an impeccable culinary experience, and to Natalia, our attendant, whose professionalism, kindness, and attentiveness made the evening even more memorable. Thank you ❤️
When I was in Orlando I wanted to enjoy some fish since I was near the ocean. Big Fin Seafood seemed an excellent choice. I got the tasting menu. Executive Chef Joe Cipolla is obviously someone cares deeply about his craft and the food was absolutely delightful. While I was in Orlando, I tried Big Fin and honestly enjoyed it more than the Michelin restaurant I went to. I’ll go over the courses and my experience with each. I want to preface this by saying for the price it was an amazing experience, but Big Fin mentioned their intention to try toward a “Michelin” level experience, so while I might seem critical, it’s with the intention that with a little more polish there is absolutely the possibility of Big Fin being worthy of a Michelin star. The chef came out and asked me what I was looking for, and I said I’m slightly sensitive to shellfish and so wanted to sample fish dishes for the tasting menu. The chef came out multiple times to describe the dishes, which was a nice touch. For tasting menus I like to “go on a culinary adventure”, which Big Fin did a fantastic job of providing. First course. Absolutely fantastic, it was a delight and exactly what I expect from a tasting menu. There’s a multitude of flavors, and the texture of whatever is on the left is indescribable as it melts in your mouth. Obviously the highlight is the cured ahi tuna, which was a perfect texture and absolutely amazing to eat. Inspired and elevated eating experience. Second course: scallops. I’ve never enjoyed scallops in the past, but was blown away by these. They’re often under seasoned, but this was a blast of flavor with eat bite as I enjoyed slices of the scallions. They had a slightly buttery flavor that augmented them without detracting from the fresh flavors of the scallions themselves. I will say balancing saltiness is always a challenge in cuisine. The first bite was too intensely salty, almost to the point of being overwhelming. With a tasting menu I feel like there should be no “wrong way” to eat something, I figured out slicing it slightly differently avoided that issue for future bites. At a Michelin level restaurant, they would describe how to properly eat the dish for the ideal experience. Incredibly delicious, though! The third dish was their signature halibut dish. I was least impressed by this, the halibut was bland and the bed of couscous (I think?) was soggy and detracted from the flavor of the fish. While I wouldn’t have returned this dish at a restaurant, the level of quality of all the other dishes was so high I wanted to mention it. I think maybe it had sat too long, as the flavor of the halibut was good, just it was a bit dry, maybe over cooked, and under seasoned. The fourth dish was a fresh catch of the day, and very good. The fish was fantastic (I forget what it was), and I was especially impressed by the stuffed zucchini. Normally stuffed peppers are too chewy and waxy, but the zucchini gave me an elevated experience with a slightly spicy and very rich and cheesy flavor like a stuffed pepper, but without the bad mouth feel that normally keeps me away from stuffed peppers. Highly recommend! The fifth course was a nice surprise, as the tasting menu is normally 5 courses but I had mentioned my love for swordfish steak, and it was the best swordfish steak I’ve eaten. Seared on the outside while not being overcooked (it’s easy to overcook fish!). The sauce was tangy and paired well with the swordfish. Very good. The sixth course was an amazing dessert that had the other tables looking and asking “are you a food critic?” “Not professionally!”, I said, haha, but Chef came out and it felt very special as he prepared the dish on the table on some wax parchment paper. Each dessert was very good, and made me feel special to get to enjoy it. Overall I think Big Fin is a diamond in the rough for Orlando cuisine, and if you’re coming from the Midwest or another place that doesn’t have fresh fish, and you’re a fan of good food, I’d highly recommend making a stop at Big Fin. Thanks for the amazing experience!
My husband and I had spent the day at Cocoa Beach and were looking for great food in Orlando. The concierge at the Hilton suggested Big Fin Seafood, and we were not disappointed. Not only did we enjoy amazing apps, entrees, deserts and drinks, but Chris treated us to an evening DINING EXPERIENCE! He was knowledgeable of the menu and ensured our selections were amazing. If you’re in the area, give them a try; and ask for Chris! Chris thank you for providing great service. When we are back in Orlando we will be back!
The Big Fin Seafood Restaurant is a seafood lovers paradise. The restaurant works closely with the local fishermen to provide the freshest seafood and fish. For starters, the bread is absolutely amazing. I had a basket of fried calamari that was to die for. I then dived into the Petite Filet Mignon & 3 Oz Cold Water Lobster Tail. The lobster melted in my mouth. I place Big Fin in my own personal line up of fine dining. My guest fell in love with the Red Snapper. When I say this restaurant is top tier - I mean every single word.
We had a wonderful time at Big Fin Seafood during our company event! The food was fresh and delicious, the space was perfect, and there was a great variety of drinks to choose from. The bartenders were top-notch, friendly, attentive, and made amazing cocktails. Easy parking made the night even better. Highly recommend Big Fin Seafood for any gathering or special occasion!
We were looking for a good seafood spot on our last night of vacation, and after deciding to leave the kids at home, this seemed to fit what we were looking for. It was a Monday night so it was very slow business wise, but we lucked out with a great server / bartender Erik who took great care of us. We hit the last part of happy hour and got some really great appetizers and drinks for a really good price. Those alone could have made a great meal, but we tried a few of the entrées as well. We really liked the blackened swordfish and the grouper. The mushroom risotto had fantastic flavor (maybe canned mushrooms..?) but the flavor was still great. The lobster mac was very cheesy and had nice chunks of lobster throughout. We ate inside as we were done with the humidity, but there was a nice covered outside porch over looking some water. The decor felt upscale without being stuffy. Prices were more in line with upscale. Overall we're glad we picked this place for our last dinner in town.
Swordfish, the whole dish is good. Bread and butter. All the food tastes fresh. Price is acceptable for the value. Service is good. Lobster was alrighty. The deck looks nice for a cool evening. Come for the fresh seafood. it didn’t feel as upscale as I thought it would be. Which it’s ok. But I overdressed following the description on the website. Tables and decoration were in the same line. The dessert wasn’t my fave. Grilled octopus wasn’t bad, but It needed a bit more of fire and seasoning. Food took some time to come, and it was warm. Overall, it was good. I could come back for the seafood and fish in a relaxed setting. I’d skip some stuff but I’d give the chance to other items.
Phenomenal place! From the moment we walked in - we knew we picked the right place for a lovely dinner. We are vacationing from Texas and not familiar with restaurants here. Our waiter - Chris, was very knowledgeable and guided us for the perfect meal! Loved every bite and moment there! Thank you Big Fin! 5 stars!!!!

Amazing food and even better service!! Michael was fantastic cannot say enough about his menu knowledge and charisma. An absolutely perfect experience. Away from the crowds of the tourists this is the best dining destination in Orlando.
Sit at the bar and meet Charley (Mlle). Wife & I went here for a date-night dinner (escape from a great family gathering). We sat at the bar because it was 5 p.m. on a weeknight, and rather quiet. The drink specialty cocktails were amazing. I'd never had a lychee and it was COOL (and I'm in my 50s). I got loose and mellow at the bar, receiving great service with great guests. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff very attentive. I had a whole Red Snapper dish. It was really wise of staff to ensure I was informed that it is traditionally served with the head on, which allowed me to request it be removed. I'm a combat vet, but I don't like to see my dinner's eyes, so the forewarning was honestly a tremendous service to me personally (I like sole; sole have no eyes.) Now, I lived in Colorado for 30 years and in that time never had a decent piece of fresh fish (and you can keep trout!), and when I say I escaped from family to have seafood with my wife, I want you to understand that I was seeking spiritual nourishment more than I was seeking a night's dinner. I needed something stupendous, and this is the part where I get to tell you how spectacularly Big Fin Seafood delivered. Over-delivered. The Red Snapper was the best I've ever had, and the dish overall was one of the 2 best fish dishes I've ever had in my life, and I kid you not a bit when I tell you that I noticed my voice making involuntary sounds of ecstasy with each bite. The sauce was tangy, the fish done perfectly, and it fed my spirit. We had delightful company at the bar. While enjoying the company, the head chef came out to speak with us and told us about the new things he was doing, and I promised I would write this review because the entirety of the experience was, for me, probably the best night I've had eating out since before I was married 17 years ago. I forgot to photograph my fish - I was far too eager for my first good piece to photograph it for y'all. But my wife's filet & crab are here, my lovely booze-with roasted-cappuccino beans, and the divinity that was the tiramisu dessert. Have a ball, friends, and have it at Big Fin Seafood. I wasn't paid to do this; I'm a failed novelist!
When I was recently diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder it was critical that we clean up our eating habits. Cooking at home is easy but eating out is challenging, especially at a place like Big Fin that offers such a creative menu. On our reservation I indicated that I have food sensitivities and cannot have gluten sugar or dairy. When we arrived, our waiter Mike immediately suggested menu items that could be tweaked to meet my needs. While I was still being blown away by this, Chef David walked out to join our conversation. I was so impressed by their kindness and true interest in what I needed to remain safe and healthy. I had the grilled swordfish with brussies and green beans. This fish. This fish was absolutely the best piece of fish I've ever had. It was absolutely succulent, literally melting in my mouth. Wow. Chef took great care to make sure my meal was prepared cleanly and checked in with us a few times to make sure I was ok. Hubs had the sea bass over coconut rice which arrived in a gorgeous blown glass shell shaped dish. He said it was just terrific; buttery, tender and flakey. We had to skip dessert, but the anniversary card Mike had everyone sign for us was just as sweet! We will be back next time (and every time) we're back in Orlando. Thanks, guys!
What a AMAZING dining experience! My husband really wanted the boat to table option but unfortunately we visited on a holiday and the boats did not come in that day. Our waiter Kevin went above and beyond by talking with Chef Joe to see if he could make something my husband was hoping for. Chef Joe came to our table, personally talked to my husband, and made a wonderful dish to my husband’s wishes! He was so personable and willing to create anything to your likings. I also wanted something off menu and he created my dish too! Best dining experience we have ever had and hats off to our waiter Kevin and a very personal THANK YOU to Chef Joe!! You made our evening very special. God Bless
Had diner last week with our neighbors. We decided to do the chefs tasting. Very different experience. Enjoyed the presentation, with meeting the chef that night. The food, wine and cocktails were wonderful. Desert was especially yummy! Only issue I had was that they need to lowered the music. Every time it was lowered someone raised it again and this interfered with our conversation. Colette, our server was excellent. We would all go back again.

😞 $400 Disappointing Experience at Big Fin Seafood Orlando I had high hopes for Big Fin Seafood Orlando, but unfortunately, the experience fell short in key areas. While the service (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐) and atmosphere (⭐⭐⭐⭐) were solid, the food (⭐⭐) was a major letdown, making what could have been a great evening quite disappointing. We visited for my daughter’s birthday 🎂 and drove from Melbourne 🚗 expecting a quality dining experience. However, the food was not up to par. My filet mignon 🥩 was unevenly cooked—one side was medium-rare as requested, but the other was medium, which shouldn’t happen at a restaurant of this caliber. My wife's scallops 🦪 were an even bigger issue; they were either raw or had been sitting out for hours, resulting in a strong, unpleasant smell 🤢. After sending them back, the second batch was better, but the damage was already done—we lost our appetite 🤦♂️. To top it off, the key lime pie 🍋🥧 was clearly frozen and served with visible hard crinkles in the crust—definitely not what we expected from a seafood restaurant of this level. But the worst part of the night? The manager’s attitude 😠. Upon leaving, he sneered at me like I was being difficult for sending back obviously bad scallops. That kind of unprofessionalism sealed the deal—I won’t be returning. Big Fin has the potential to be great, but inconsistent food quality 🍽️ and a poor managerial attitude 👎 made this a birthday dinner to forget. MTC

The Australian lobster tails were overcooked and very dry. The remainder of the meal and entrées were great.

My girlfriend is a big seafood fan, so we decided to try Big Fin Seafood. From the outside, the restaurant gives off an upscale vibe—valet parking, luxury cars out front—and since we were looking for a nicer dining experience, things started off on a positive note. We had a 6:30 PM reservation on a Saturday, and the restaurant was nearly empty. In hindsight, that probably should’ve been a red flag, but we brushed it off. We were brought complimentary bread with an onion-and-chili-flake butter. While appreciated, the butter had a strange flavor that didn’t really work for us. I ordered a Coca-Cola, but it arrived with almost no carbonation. When I mentioned it to our server, he explained that the sodas come from a bar fountain gun and there wasn’t much he could do. A bit disappointing, but we moved on. Once our meals arrived, the biggest issue became clear—everything lacked flavor. I ordered the steak medium-well, but it came out completely well done and extremely tough, almost like beef jerky. My girlfriend ordered the gnocchi, which she ate, but neither of us truly enjoyed our meals. The atmosphere felt similar to a Joe’s Crab Shack, just without the fun energy or quality food you’d expect. The prices are very high, which I’m more than willing to pay when the food justifies it—but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case here. Our server was pleasant and did his best, but between the underwhelming food and basic issues like flat soda, this isn’t a place we’d return to. It’s disappointing, especially since we were excited to try somewhere new.
