Lovely food and speedy service
Excellent food and view over the flowrider.
I ate here with my friends on a retreat . Such a brilliant service and the food was amazing . We came on a Friday night was quick and friendly service . 100% recommended this restaurant.
Great food this evening, great service and a nice place to be
Jo who does the activities was great and the kids liked her. Friendly staff in the bar/restaurant.
Ate here a number of times whilst staying at the resort. Love the onion rings and halloumi fries!
We got a takeaway, would in courage to do the same. We ordered in advance and was on exactly on time when we came to pick it up the burger was beautiful the fish was very crispy and the salmon was cooked perfectly would highly recommend!
The food was delicious. They were busy and short staffed but they didn't keep us waiting too long and did apologise. It was not a problem for us as we were on holiday and not rushing off. The food was worth waiting for. We did try to book for a second night but no tables available. We were staying in a lodge and would have liked to go again.
We had a lovely meal at The Lookout Bar, relaxed atmosphere and really great friendly service from Matt. We didn't have cash to leave a tip and they don't accept tips via card, so please ensure to take cash to tip your server! The food was great, tasty, fresh and arrived quickly. The drinks were reasonable and the mocktail was fun for kids.
Lovely food and a great ambience.
Christmas Day dinner a little pricey £80 a head not a including any drinks couldn’t eat all the food so had a box to go next year I will be cooking as I’m tightsrse
Staff were nice entertaining and enthusiastic
The food and service were great. It overlooks the flow rider which is why I've given 4 stars, if it overlooked the country or lake it would be 5.
Expensive for just a sandwich
Nice place to eat and drink but a bit overpriced
Ate here last night. Last review wasn't great so had to leave one. The waitress Claire was so helpful and friendly and suggested things that we might do the next day. Food was OK my 7 year old is saying excellent though. Facilities clean for some reason I thought it might be better but overall was a nice experience. Having Grey goose helped, I hate standard vodka's
Food was average, chicken was dry and gravy was very thin. Portion sizes weren’t big. Staff are incredibly un-attentive, took ages to get our food and they forgot our drinks multiple times.
Acceptable food... but great view of Flow Rider and faux surfing!
Unlike other reviews, the wait staff was more attentive and nice than other reviewers have said, I think that if you're the type to snap your fingers and expect instant service you'll be sadly disappointed. The food though was not as good, ingredients missing and basic dishes with not a lot of food for the price. All in all, I'd like to see an improvement in food quality and amount.
Ah yes, the lookout bar. This is the place where I would go if I was home alone with an empty fridge and fancy blowing £15 for a microwaved garlic bagel. When you walk in, you are seated with waiters who just came back from a 10 hour childminder session and cannot comprehend dealing with another 4 people. Anyway, somehow this place has room to make a comeback. On the outside is a flowrider where you can watch people either surf professionally or feel the wrath of 4 tones of water blasting into your face. Quite comical! As for the food, to not get wetherspoon material order the food that you know they cant mess up e.g steak with axle jack sauce, pizza etc. If you do those things you should have a decent experience with the cost of bad service. Also, if you have 15 minutes to spare and a car you can go to the two clomes, which has so much better service and food at the same price! Very overrated for what its worth.
I Ordered the prawn cocktail which was served with a very dry piece of white bread. After requesting the brown bread which was on the menu they sent out a slice. They couldn’t even be bothered to cut it (picture attached). We had Linguine for main which turned up with some of the mussels still closed. The attention to detail is woeful and definitely not worth the money.
Food was very poor, service even worse and ran out of pizzas which is their main attraction
Great service and friendly staff, food was overpriced and bland
Took ages and then was cold. But we didn’t want to send it back cos we were so hungry!!! The starter was nice though.
There seems to be a theme, that the chef does a good job but the waiting staff are poor. I agree, the waiting staff seemed rushed and not particularly attentive. Waited ages to get the cheque, then even longer to pay. Overall not really impressed. Food good.
Understaffed (also, not trained and certainly not attentive), overpriced, and just so slow. Over 40 minutes for starters, 35 minutes for mains. Quality of food nothing special. If you have other options, then don't waste your time here
I won’t bore you with the details. Service was really poor - really slow and nobody seemed to care. Food was massively overpriced - in terms of quality think weatherspoons and you won’t be far off. Drinks selection really poor - again, think of a rubbish pub chain. We went because we arrived late on our first day, so it was convenient. We definitely won’t be going back!
Very average food, dreadful service and management .we came last and I had forgotten how bad it is. Staff everywhere but no organisation, drinks ordered not taken ,it wasn’t very busy but we waited nearly an hour for food which was well below par. The young Asian lady was very good and trying hard but the rest totally uninterested. And please stop calling people my lovely every other second.
Food was really terrible. We ordered a lot of things and most of them were not up to the mark. Especially the Margherita pizza that was definitely a store bought frozen pizza and the crab linguini which had crab shells in almost every bite. Good atmosphere and service but all down the drain with bad food.
The chef and kitchen excellent keep it up. The service was poor main course came 15 mins late and I have had finished my main course before it was delivered as it was apparently missed off the order. NEEDS DRASTIC IMPROVEMENT!!!!
It’s hard to put into words. I couldn’t recommend this place at all, to anyone. I advised the staff, but they seemed unmoved by the feedback - jaw dropping really.
I ordered modules £19 95 it was over cooked they still had the beards on and no taste the worst I have ever had I was unable to eat them and the chips where just as bad don't EAT in this place
Food is not too bad but the service is the worst I've experienced.
Terrible service. Waited 20 mins for drinks that never arrived. Loads of uncleared tables, sticky floor, no soap in toilets. Left and got a takeaway.
Not great service, no manager, short staff for peak period first day they said they do take away for certain kind of food like pizza as they don't have the right containers for the rest of the food. The second day they said they don't do take awy as this is the restaurant rules 🙄. Big confusion between the staff.
Where do I start. I have visited a lot of places and have never felt the need to write a bad review. But this was something else.... When ordering food the waitress was blunt and rude and kept reminding me that there would be a 30 minute wait for food and because of this they would not serve starters and mains separately, and everything would be bought out at the same time. She wasn’t asking if this was okay, she was telling me as if to put us off ordering. I asked if I could get a coke without ice and she nodded and then went on to fill my glass with ice, so I asked again and she ignored me and started pouring coke in the glass, I asked for a third time and she looked at me, turned away and poured out the whole glass as if I had inconvenienced her and then proceeded to start again without saying a word. When I tasted my drink it was clearly not coke, and tasted more like an own diet brand - which she didn’t inform me of. When the food came out (longer than 30 mins)- it was brought over on what can only be described as school dinner trays and was completely tasteless. Having waited so long for food we were both starving and neither of us could face finishing our food, which may I add looked nothing like the photos advertised. The burgers were overcooked, tasteless and tough, the buns were stale, and some of our chips were still crunchy. After deciding our food was inedible, we could hear two other tables complaining about their food, one being about the stale bread. There was one waitress named Laura who stood out because she was actually polite! I can confidently say that we will never be visiting this establishment again.
About the worst dining experience I’ve encountered for some time. It was actually difficult to find a positive. The place just isn’t in fitting with the resort. It needs a major overhaul. We ordered starters and after a while we’re presented with the starter from another table. No issue, we sorted the issue ourselves. When our starts finally arrived they were massively over cooked. Having finished about 15 mins later our mains arrived (before the empty start plates had been cleared. All good starter plates were removed. Unfortunately so was my cutlery and so I else’s left with a main but nothing to eat it with. Finally managed to get the attention of the staff and requested some cutlery. At no point we’re we asked if we wanted any sauces. Agin no problem. Managed to flag someone down again. Steak was over cooked. Was about to tuck into the salad when I noticed it was brown on the underside with mould spaws on it. Ok, fine. Let’s just get the bill and go home. 25 mins later our plates were collected and we asked for the bill. Another 20 mins and someone came over to take payment. We were due to take the family there for a meal on Thu but have cancelled. I’ve never left a negative comment before but the entire experience tonight was very poor.
Our last day and we thought we would try the lookout restaurant Unfortunately although the young chap who served us was friendly He messed up our order 3 times and had to keep coming back ...... he wrote it down, not sure how he forgot. We asked for starters to come with main as we had kids and was getting late Apparently the chef messed up so starters were an hour before main not together Kids meals, even though he checked if was sweetcorn or beans come out wrong, no biggy we survived Then one of our mains we ordered an hour ago was told they couldnt do as run out Food was nice but mediocre, rushed ........... there was 3 tables in their so maybe 15 people altogether and they were struggling Go to ask for bill and get charged for the meal we canceled due to being incomplete Try to explain this to the pierced tattooed old lady, think she was the supervisor And got SHOUTED 'ALRIGHT LOVE ' and walked away before i even finished explaining the first problem let alone the rest Obviously looks down on the younger generations ...... im 35 Apparently her given us our vouchers was a good enough discount as we shouldnt of been allowed to use them...... even though before we ordrred we checked if we could use the vouchers Eventually we got 20% which she wasnt going too, but is still a bit of an insult after the service we were given Terrible service We still had starter empty plates on our table after we finished dessert Avoid at all costs
Really poor service, there were 9 of us, 4 things were ordered weren't available and even once we'd reordered 2 of the orders came 30 mins after everything else - this was after we'd asked twice about them. Staff were rude and generally unhelpful. We also used the beach cafe at the resort and the staff there also looked like they didn't want to be there.
If I could have given a zero I would have. We were waiting 45 minutes for our drinks to be brought out and our food order to be taken. The bread given with the prawn cocktail was stale and presentation was very poor. Mains were not too bad but the desserts were bought out 10 minutes before the spoons which wasn't good when most of us had ice cream / sundaes. The dog also managed to pick up a rusty nail from the floor which we had to retrieve from his mouth. When mentioned they did apologies but no managers where on site to speak too or discuss with. The table was booked to celebrate my sister in laws birthday and has upset my brother as he feels responsible for a ruined evening. Very disapponted
We waited for nearly an hour and no one came to tell if it was late. PWe gave feedback to manager and he was not bothered. We ordered finish and chips nearly 19£ and it was very small portion. The chips along with burger were burnt for all 3 burgers. I think they are too busy and have too many customers so not quite bothered.
Absolutely awful experience. Visited family staying on site to join them for a meal - party of 12. All food was pre-ordered as requested by the venue. Despite that, an hour after our booking time and arrival, we had to ask what was happening. The already disgruntled front of house chap explained there was only one trained chef on but he'd go and check. About 10 minutes later, our food started to arrive. As my daughter's food came out, she immediately found a long hair embedded in her pasta. We told the chap and he apologised and took it back to the kitchen. Shortly after, he came out and explained that no one in the kitchen had long hair and proceeded to have a long and protracted argument with me that the hair belonged to my daughter. It was a light coloured hair and my daughter is very dark. We were not unpleasant about it and were very displeased with the loud and unnecessary accusation and ensuing argument from the waiter / barman. As we waited for her meal to be re-done, every member of waiting staff that came out of the kitchen had long hair!! My daughters pasta was replaced 25 minutes later after the rest of us had finished. No offer to discount the bill because of the long wait, poor service, argumentative staff or the general mediocrity of the food. Overall, very disappointing and, suffice to say, will not be going back again.
Was a guest at the resort, decided to go for dinner at 8.20 when the restaurant serves food until 9, was told they couldn't serve us as they had just seated a table for four in the bar, made no sense what so ever, very flipant. Very bad public relations, they would be better with a table booking policy as the place was only half full! Would definitely influence me returning to the park in general. A real shame.
I wouldn’t bother to even entertain wasting your hard earned money at this place on your holiday. The service is so poor, slow. The manager is possibly the most un interested character I have ever come across in a restaurant. We were seated and told we would be asked regarding drinks this never happened, table was never cleared. Sad thing is there were only 5 covers when we were in the restaurant, I’d hate to see the service when it was full. Never again.
Ate in here on a Saturday evening and half of the tables food was served luke warm/cold. Walked up from our lodge on a Tuesday evening to find that last orders for drinks had already been called at 9.05pm. Quite laughable really for a supposedly 5* luxury resort. Spoilt our week here somewhat
I actually dont know where to start - maybe we were on some sort of hidden camera TV show to see how we would react when service is sooo bad, we were genuinely waiting for Ant and Dec to jump out from behind the bar, sadly no such luck. Let’s not beat around the bush here I have never experienced such terrible service ever. Food mehh, drinks alright but we only ordered coke and lemonade and we were gasping as they arrived after the food, so they were a welcome arrival, the service is absolutely shocking, atmosphere very wacky warehouse. Couldn’t even be bothered to go and get a refund for part of the meal that never arrived as I don’t think the staff would be able to manage pressing refund on the card machine and I genuinely couldn’t bare to put myself through it, maybe they can put it towards extra training for the staff, in particular the girl who looked like a deer in headlights and looked like she had no idea whether she was on this earth or Fullers. Anyway to summarise this place is awful, oh and very expensive !!!! We will not be returning and that’s a real shame as we are your captive audience staying in a luxury lodge for the week and can’t be bothered to cook - big mistake… HUGE
My family of 9 and I visited The Lookout during our stay at Retallack and were left seriously underwhelmed. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, service was slow and inattentive. One of our drinks never arrived, even after asking the same server for it four times. (It was a Diet Pepsi by the way, so not exactly complicated as we could see the tap from where we were sitting) Food came out staggered, with one meal forgotten entirely until we chased it down. When everything finally arrived, it was poorly cooked — soggy fish, undercooked chips, cold chicken, and bland across the board. I'd recommend just eating elsewhere - don't waste your time.
The woman with long blonde hair at the bar is extremely rude and officious. When we asked for the cocktails menu we were told abruptly that the menus were on the tables. After searching a few tables we eventually found a menu. On returning to the bar it seemed to be putting her out of her way to make us the cocktails. As I added to the order she did not speak or acknowledge me. Bearing in mind my order came to £86 most bars would be grateful to sell that many drinks. Very unpleasant experience overall.
I can’t review the food as be left before ordering. This was over half an hour after arriving for our pre booked reservation and from ordering a drink that never arrived. When we tried to speak to the so called manager she was dismissive of us. We were 1 of only 5 tables, 2 of which had already eaten. 4 young, untrained staff doing very little but why would they when their “manager” was not doing her job!
The food and service here has really gone downhill, overpriced food for Wetherspoons quality. Our booking was for 8 people and when we arrived they seemed to not know how many people the booking was actually for. 7/8 of our meals that we ordered were either missing parts of it or were just completely wrong. For example, on the menu it says the grilled chicken comes with garlic fries and aioli. Ours came with plain chunky chips and mayonnaise, when we questioned the staff on it they seemed to be confused and didn’t give a valid explanation as to why. Also during our meal, Bingo was taking place which was very loud and completely ruined the atmosphere of the restaurant, we could barely hear each other over it. We were not told this would be happening when we booked. I don’t think this should take place while the kitchen is open and while people are trying to enjoy their evening meal. After we finished our meals, we continued to drink cocktails on the decking. When ordering our cocktails the staff made it seem like we were being an inconvenience for ordering multiple cocktails to an outside table. And although it’s on every menu, this restaurant also doesn’t participate in the evening happy hour as advertised. We will definitely be going to a local pub instead next time.
