Opinions de Cafe Santorini Pasadena
The beautiful place, very clean, pleasant atmosphere, the super delicious food, 100% recommended, I saw a short man, I don't know who he is, but he is super attentive to all the people at the tables, I was looking for my waiter and he immediately saw me and sent someone to assist me
We recently hosted a surprise birthday party… and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! From start to finish, the staff went above and beyond to make the night special for the birthday girl and our entire group. The service was outstanding, the food was delicious, and every detail was taken care of perfectly. Everyone in our party was satisfied and happy, and we all had a fantastic time. Thank you so much for making this celebration so memorable… we truly appreciate it and will definitely be back!
Great location, beautiful restaurant. Only problem the restaurant is upstairs on the roof with a big, long staircase that my mom could not walk up. No Handycap access (no working elevator) but it didn't stop us from eating there. Very accommodating restaurant, they set us up a table street side! Great food, fantastic service! Our waiter Michael was great, and he had to walk up and down the long staircase, and it didn't seem to bother him. Even considering it was Father's day and how busy the restaurant was and the big stairs, the food came out fast and delicious! We will definitely be back!
The atmosphere was quiet and beautiful, the service was superb, and the food was richly tasteful in every way. So happy we happened upon this gem in our travels through Pasadena today. It is so nice to be delighted on a passing Monday evening.
Hidden gem. Attentive staff. Great ambiance. When i say hidden be resourceful in locating its not a bad thing i love it i always love brick building
This was such a great restaurant. My wife and I flew in from Phoenix, dropped our bags at the hotel and headed to dinner before the Ed Sheeren concert. I was very happy to have made reservations in advance as the restaurant was totally booked all night and was actually turning people away. It was a packed house so bring your social game and conversation. Tables are close to each other so it was difficult to have our own conversation and not drop in on our table mates conversations. The rooftop patio was very romantic. Food was amazing and some of their drinks are unique. But you can’t go wrong with a good Old Fashioned. Highly recommend if you’re a local or just visiting the area.
Cafe Santorini is tucked upstairs in Old Town Pasadena and has a cozy balcony with string lights. The Mediterranean dishes were flavorful—especially the lamb kebabs. The staff were attentive without rushing us. The ambiance is great for a date night or small group dinner. Prices are fair for the location and atmosphere.
I wanted to find a nice late lunch after the Rose Bowl flea market and this place was exactly what I was looking for. They have a cute rooftop with lights. Good atmosphere. Prices are reasonable. Greek salad was amaZing! Very fresh tasting. Service was great. I would definitely come back to try the sangria it looks very good.
Visiting Pasadena and found this gem in Old Pasadena. Balcony was very cool, took a star off on atmosphere because the music was annoyingly similar driving bass and a little too loud. Excellent babaganoush, nice drinks, very attentive service.
Fish, sangria, octopus, oh my! What a yummy location in downtown Pasadena. Typically I find these restaurants to be a little too posh and slightly prohibitive, but this wasn't the case. Food was delicious! I ordered the lamb with couscous, sangria, octopus salad, and some fried mackerel. Wow! These choices led a wonderful blend of flavor that can only be described as Mediterranean! I wish I had room for desert! Park in the garage, you will get 90 minute of free parking. The only downside to brunch was the oppressive heat. I wish they would install some fans or misters.
Great place for authentic Mediterranean food and atmosphere. The staff is most professional and uses a crumber tool which puts them at the top of my list of restaurants for cleanliness. The food is 5+ stars. My favorite dishes thus far are Santorini Mezze Tasting, Roasted Butternut Squash, and Sea-bass entree.
We had the most amazing meal at 2:30 in the afternoon. Octopus was perfect, other appies & fish entree were so good. Luis provided 5 star service. Will definitely be back!
We visited Santorini restaurant in Pasadena last night. Beautiful restaurant, especially the Patio area on the second floor reminds you of a restaurant in Greece somewhere. The service we received from Ara was excellent and the food simply delicious. The grilled Calamari was mouth watering, pan fried little smelts cooked and seasoned to perfection, Cioppino Santorini, was simply ambrosial and the Shrimp Capellini a la Checca... wow.... The apple tart with vanila ice cream was refreshing. Fantastic food, excellent service, super reasonable prices. Will definitely be back soon, and highly recommend Santorini in Pasadena.
Everything in this place is perfect. The food is amazing, the people who work there are super nice and the place itself is great too. My family and I go there almost every weekend and it’s one of our favorite restaurants ever. (The tiramisu is the best one I have ever had, and I’ve has a lot of tiramisus).
They handle food so well! The way they prepared all of the meals was incredible. Each dish was very flavorful and delicious. We loved the specials they had including the bass, the penne chicken was great, and the desserts were wonderful! We particularly liked the apple pie/cobbler dish. The flourless chocolate cake was super rich and delicious. We had three of them and could’ve settled for just one.
A wonderful restaurant with an incredible cute ambiance esp. if you get patio seating. We went family and sat inside but the experience was still wonderful! Cafe Santorini is a tasty Mediterranean inspired restaurant that has quite a menu of amazing food. I came with my girlfriend and our parents to enjoy dinner together and we had an amazing experience with the food. Parking is available close by, and it may be hard at first to locate cafe Santorini but once you locate it, you have to climb some stairs to get to this wonderful gem of a restaurant. We ordered: Spicy Tuna Tartar, Santorini Mezze Tasting, Grilled Octopus Salad, Cioppino Santorini, grilled Chicken Kebob w/ grilled beef add-on, shrimp capellini al checca & a red curry risotto w/ seafood. All was good!! Highly recommend esp. for a date night or good group of friends. P.S. sorry pictures are so-so. We were so excited to eat. Forgot to take pictures before touching some dishes.
Love the food and ambiance at this restaurant. It's my second visit here and it didn't disappoint. We had the fried smelt, hallumi cheese with fresh herb dressing, and grilled squid salad for appetizers. Then I ordered cioppino santorini for my entree which tasted delicious. I also tried my friends orders...mushroom risotto, red curry risotto with seafood and the yuvetsi (slow roasted lamb with onions & tomatoes baked with orzo pasta & topped with kaseri cheese) so good and super rich. And of course a pitcher of their red sangria. For dessert, we had the flourless chocolate cake which was free for my friend's birthday, the Elizabeth's Ashta cake (with orange blossom & rose water), & the affogato. I recommend this place to everyone it's worth the try and it'll keep you coming back for more.
Made a reservation for Lunch. Was very very impressed with this restaurant. Not easy to find this Gem. Restaurant mostly located upstairs on second floor. make sure to check out their patio seating! Great ambiance and heaters if cold, open spot and fresh air. Great service as well. We ordered the hummus and eggplant appetizers as well as a variety of Kabob options. Love their ahi tuna salad as well, wish there was more ahi tuna!
Hands down one of the best classy restaurants my wife and I have gone to. Let’s start by reviewing the cilantro based chicken pasta. Hands down of the of the most surprising dishes I didn’t know I’d enjoy as much as I did. They mixed just the right amount of cilantro in the dish to make it pop. The chicken was cooked to perfection! Moist and tender, every bite was a treat. The caprese salad was also hands down the best I’ve had. The balsamic was drizzled just enough to please the pallet. I’ve gone here plenty of times and it never fails to exceed my expectations. Staff here is great! My wife and I also love the ambiance 😊
One of the best Mediterranean food I've ever had. Ambience will be great if you are seated at the patio. The Thai curry risotto and chicken breast pasta are my favourite and I miss it already. The service here is inconsistent especially with the older servers. Suggest to make reservation in advance. Atmosphere : 5/5 Food : 5/5 Drinks : 4/5 Price. : 4/5 Service : 3/5
Make a reservation. The service is excellent and the food is phenomenal. Everyone in my group tried a different dish and thoroughly enjoyed them. I recommend getting the appetizer sampler because there’s a little bit of everything. My brazed lamb was perfectly cooked and fell off the bone. I would absolutely return the next time I’m in town.
The food has always been delicious and I’ve been coming here for at least 20 years!? My favorite remains the grilled calamari salad, the lamb shank, the beef and chicken kebabs. The service is good, but sometimes they come by a little too much. If the mail is over, and the people are conversing, let them be, but they’re nice servers.😉
Amazing ambiance, 1 page menu, extensive flavors for the entire Mediterranean coastline. Cioppino was a bit over salted. I have returned to this lovely spot and tried additional dishes. The sprimp linguine was likely one of the best i have had in the states, and the octopus salad WAS definitely the best I have had in the States. If i could give this post more than 5 stars, i would. The ambiance is transportative. You dont feel like youre in CA. With the top retracted, ar dusk with a light breeze out of the west, this is one of my favorite date spots in the Greater Los Angeles Area.
Checked back in: had garlic bread as appetizer. It was warm but super bland. Next time. I would skip it. Hubby had branzino fish with carrots, potatoes and green beans and I had Penne Pasta con Pollo. The fish was delicate and quite light. It isn't big so I wouldn't order it for 2 unless you don't eat much. My pasta was a solid choice, the chicken was tender and perfectly cooked and the flavors were well thought out and we enjoyed it. We then ordered lattes which were excellent and we shared the apple tartlette with cinnamon gelato: recommend ! First time: here after spending the day at the Getty. We got seated right away and were served warm bread. We did have a wait since they we quite busy but it made for a leisurely meal. We had the garlic bread, cheese and shrimp and potato appetizer which was full of flavor and a meal in itself. We then had seafood ciopinno and moussaka which were both excellent. For dessert we had tiramisu and an apple tartlette. The tiramisu was ok, I wish I would have had the poached pear instead which looked beautiful. Recommend
My wife and i love this place. Great menu. Lots of different items. Service is always good. Friendly. Love sitting outside. Great background music too. Been going here for about two years. Quite often. Never had a bad meal or a bad experience. Food is always outstanding!
Food - fantastic. We shared the seafood pasta and the lamb kebab. Large portions excellent for sharing. The flourless chocolate cake was delicious. Also very generous portion. Would also recommend the martinis! Ambiance - lovely and mellow with beautiful lighting. Sit outside on the patio while enjoying a nice LA evening. We ate on a Wednesday evening and there was no wait! It's definitely a lot busier in the summer time, a few weeks ago the wait was 40 minutes for two. Highly recommend!
This is my ALL TIME favorite restaurant. Food is 5 stars-favorites are their lamb, tuna tartar, calamari salad, and their pastas. Ambience is 10 stars! I love their outside seating with easy going atmosphere. My family and I have been their patrons since 1999 when we spent our wedding anniversary there. Service has been consistently superb, which is rare for most restaurants.
This place is romantic, with the second level indoor and outdoor dining options. In the evening, they have nice lighting outside and heat lamps. Staff is very nice and the most important thing, the food is outright delicious and very well balanced. Many flavors from the Mediterranean region allow for an extreme fine dining experience. I highly recommend this place to have a date night out.
Friendly helpful host staff gave us a lovely table on the patio on a busy Sunday at noon even though we didn’t have a reservation. The food was very fresh, light, clean, and tasty! Our server was very friendly, bo-lingual? knowledgeable, and attentive. The atmosphere was relaxing, with some pleasant music in the background. The prices were fair and competitive. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon here and recommend them with 5 stars!
We got takeout this time around, and the food was ready before estimated time. Food was great as usual but we didn’t get any grilled tomatoes on our kebab dishes for some reason. But everything was delicious of course :)
One of our favorite date night spots! It is located in an adorable block of Old Town Pasadena. Atmosphere is incredible, especially if you are so lucky as to be seated outside under the string lights. Food is delicious and has many different options. Great for people with dietary restrictions!
Randomly met up with husband to let traffic die down on our way home from work. I had the shrimp linguini special and my husband has the beef kabobs. We also tried a fish as a starter and an order of the hummus and pita bread. The shrimp linguini was absolutely delicious. My husband also enjoyed the kabobs. We loved the service we received from our waiter whose name I cant recall. But he made the suggestions for the food and was quite attentive. The atmosphere was quiet but it was an early dinner around 530pm. We will definitely be going back.
The food was solid. Can’t get myself to give it a 5 though. Service was… amazing. Patrick made the night better. Atmosphere is hard to gauge without noting ALL the staff making dinner feel like… more than dinner.
Amazing experience! The food was so delicious and fresh. And the service was very good. We had a large group dinner here and the team took care of food allergies and made sure things were flowing perfectly. Will definitely be back.
Expeeeensive!! But SO WORTH IT! Their steaks IS THE BEST! The sauce, how great the meat was cooked…. It’s unreal. But it is expensive ~50$. For appetizers I definitely recommend their hummus - so good. Their seafood linguine was great as well. Chicken kebap was a small portion and it was decent. The environment is chic so be sure to dress up a bit :) I would definitely go here again and recommend the place :D
I had such a great experience here for dinner last night! The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. What really made the visit stand out was our server, Alex. He was incredibly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. He made excellent recommendations and checked in often without being intrusive. Alex’s warm and professional service made the whole evening feel special. I’ll definitely be coming back and asking for him again!
I came for a Thursday evening dinner with my wife to be and our families (party of 12) and we had a great time here. We sat outside on the patio which had a very nice look to it along with outdoor lights. The servers Dennis and Martín were super nice and very diligent. I was quite dehydrated so I was chugging water but they promptly refilled my water which I do appreciate especially on a warmer and humid evening. For the food, we got the sample platter for the table which was pretty good. But gosh the lamb shank was marvelous. It was so tender, I just scooped it off the bone with my fork. I also had a spicy sumac margarita (not pictured), it was a delicious cocktail. Overall I had a pleasant experience here. I appreciate the atmosphere, the service, and the food. If I am in the area again I would definitely come again.
Came to Café Santorini for happy hour with my brother and started with the grilled octopus and Santorini garlic fries. Both were delicious and our bartender Eduardo was amazing. We moved to our patio reservation once our friend arrived and ordered a pitcher of red sangria. At $65, it felt overpriced and not worth it. We would skip it next time. We ordered the grilled octopus again so our friend could try it. Also got the pear and walnut salad and the burrata. Both were fresh and full of flavor. For mains, we had the steak and frites with an incredible au poivre sauce, red curry seafood risotto, and beef brochette with hummus and pita. Dessert was a hit. The tiramisu was one of the best I have had. Service from Samuel and the rest of the staff was excellent. I have been coming here for over 10 years and the food is always consistently great. Parking can be tricky but there are paid garages nearby. The balcony patio is perfect for fresh air and a great spot for a first date. Inside can get loud so not ideal for a quiet conversation.
It’s always a wonderful experience at Cafe Santorini. Jessica was our server and she was delightful! A great smile goes a long way to make the food taste great! 4 men, 1 being a boring vegetarian! I split the chicken kabobs and the beef kabobs with one of my friends! Perfect combination! I wish they would expand their menu to include Greek classics but that was yesteryear! A wonderful lunch on the patio! The atmosphere is so pleasant and the noise level is as expected in a great Greek Restaurants!
Cafe Santorini in Pasadena offers a great Mediterranean dining experience. I had the Seafood Risotto, which was rich and creamy with perfectly cooked seafood. My husband had the Branzino, which was tender with a crispy skin, letting the fresh flavors shine. The ambiance is charming, with a lovely rooftop patio. Service was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend for a great meal in Old Pasadena!
My boyfriend I had a wonderful time at the cafe. Location is really cute and the views are nice if you eat on the outside balcony. The cocktails were very good I had a negroni. This place has made the most tender lamb shank that I've had so far and the potatoes that went along with it were really good as was the apricot sauce. I would definitely go here again expect to spend around $100 for a good time and a very well cooked meal. Finally our waitress was very nice and her suggestions were excellent. Service was very quick and we never had to ask for refills on water or anything like that.
Delicious as always. We had a delicious appetizer plate with olives, feta cheese, cucumber etc. It was perfect. I had the seafood risotto and my relatives had cioppino and a shrimp dish. All wonderful. For dessert we had flourless chocolate cake. Everyone was happy. The service and seating on the balcony were great. Try it.
We had lunch for my dad's birthday. I'm vegan, and the grilled vegetable plate had a large selection of vegetables grilled very well. The lobster ravioli, cioppino, chicken penne, and seafood salad were enjoyed by the rest of my family. The baba ganoush was quite good, but I was very disappointed in their pitas (see photo). They were thin and dry, similar to what you might get at the supermarket. I would expect a Mediterranean restaurant to have better-quality pitas, if not house-made.
I haven’t tried their main courses, which seemed delicious, but heard about their Ashta Cake. Stopped by here on a whim as I was already stuffed from exploring other places. This has to be one of their signature go to dessert items. It was creamy and light. The rose water syrup really made the dish shine through. Had almost a marscapone type cream layer and topped with pistachio crust topping. The rose water syrup was just enough overall in flavor and sweetness that made this the mvp and this is what stood out to me. You just wanted more every bite. Will stop by back for their entrees.
A popular Mediterranean food restaurant in old town Pasadena. Their food and service are great. Everything on the menu are excellent. Although We have only been here a few times, every time we came, we always enjoyed the outdoor dining vibes and the food. It’s quite pleasant to dine outdoor on the terrace over looking old town Pasadena. The beef and chicken kebabs are to die for. They are so good. The grilled flavor on the meats are delicious. The hummus with pita bread is a must for appetizer. Our server Matt was fantastic. He was very friendly and helpful on our orders. He paced our orders so we can enjoy the drinks and the appetizers. The place is always packed for dinner. Reservation is highly recommended. Parking in the public parking garage is free for 90 minutes.
Amore! The food and atmosphere of Cafe Santorini – perched on a charming rooftop in Old Town Pasadena – will whisk you away to the vibrant coastline of the Mediterranean. We started off the night with the Mezze Vegetarian Appetizer. Not only is this dish beautiful to look at with all its vibrant colors, but it’s also bursting with flavor – tangy hummus, zesty tabbouleh, marinated grape leaves, and crispy Borak (to name a few) will excite you with different tastes. For the main course, we each got the Chicken Kebab. What an indulgent dish! The chicken was succulent and perfectly seasoned. It came with rice pilaf, tzatziki, hummus, and a colorful assortment of roasted vegetables. Unlike other restaurants that give you insanely small portion sizes for a ridiculous price, Cafe Santorini serves up very filling meals that leave you feeling perfectly satisfied. We were delighted by our dinner and thrilled that we got to sample different exotic dishes from the Mediterranean. Thankfully, this restaurant does NOT limit itself to just pasta and pizza. The only downsides were that it took a long time for our food to arrive (around 30 minutes) and that our waiter was not very communicative. For example, our appetizer came with pita bread but we had no idea because it was tucked away under several layers of napkins! Wish our waiter told us, since we unknowingly ordered extra pita bread. Moreover, the tables on the balcony are arranged very close together, which did not provide us with much room for intimate conversation, but I guess that’s ok …we were focused on savoring our delicious food anyways!
This is a fairly good restaurant in downtown Pasadena. Was here on work travel and we decided to come here. Not aLot of food for the buck. Ordered the red curry shrimp risotto. Not bad although wish the portions were more. The rice was a tad chewy. Waitor was awesome even split up our checks for us!!
This place has a nice vibe. We sat outside in the patio. I ordered the steak. I ordered medium and it was overcooked. A nice place for a date. The drinks are pretty ok. I got the Medijito. It was a mojito with pomegranate juice. I will still come back and try the lamb chops and the kebabs next time.
VERY PRETTY!! Beautiful OUTDOOR SEATING. The hostess was really FRIENDLY! We had made a reservation 3 hours prior to arriving and we still had TO WAIT to be seated for roughly 10 mins-- there was no where to sit because the restaurant was THAT BUSY. My sister, who recently broke her foot and has to walk with crutches, climbed up 2 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS to get to the dining area, as there was NO OTHER ACCESS. The service was EXCELLENT! The food was DELICIOUS-- everything tasted perfect and fresh! Drinks arrived in a timely manner. Prices were slightly above average. I would definitely go again for a SPECIAL OCCASION :)
Excellent food! The server was working his tail off, yet we waited a long time to be served after being seated reasonably close to our reservation time. I think the restaurant was simply understaffed.
What a great find in Pasadena. They are off the Main Street on the second level of their building which makes for a cozy romantic patio away from the busy streets below. We ordered the halloumi cheese appetizer, and the Grilled Vegetable Plate and the Lamb Souvlaki as our mains. Everything was very nicely done, but what they lack in presentation, they make up for by serving up a nice full plate of tastiness. Oh and let’s give a slow clap for their amazing hummus and tzatziki sauce they serve with some flatbread at your meal. Wow. Both of those were amazing!! I don’t think I’ve had better in the states. Also they have a nice wine list with a variety of price points so you don’t have to break the bank if you don’t want to. We paired our dinner with their Chianti Classico. Our server was very professional and didn’t miss a beat. He gave great menu suggestions and made sure our glasses were full of wine. Love a place with great service. We had an earlier dinner and didn’t have a problem getting seating without a reservation. I’ve read that this place gets busy so try to plan in advance for a prime dinner time! One last thing - the bathroom is out of service (I believe for repairs), so you have to go down to the banquet hall next door to use theirs.
Very romantic spot if the coverings are lowered. It was a rainy day so they were up but saved us from freezing our buns off. Good food. Great venue and view. Servers were great and just a really cool and diff restaurant. I like Mediterranean food but don’t love it. That said, this spot is legit.
What a gem we found while we were "hangrily" looking around Pasadena for good food after our stroll in the Huntington Library! Here's what we had: Fried Pacific Smelt Grilled Calamari Santorini Lamb Souvlaki Grilled Beef Brochette Red Curry Risotto with Seafood All were very good but I loved the Grilled Calamari and Grilled Beef Brochette the most! The service was fast and the ambience good so all in all the experience was great! The prices are fair but more on the expensive side since it eres on the fine dining vibe. A couple of negatives I have though is that 1. We had trouble finding entrance to the restaurant. It seems like there is some renovations happening in the building. 2. It's not accessible to strollers/wheelchairs. We had a baby stroller with us so we had to fold it and carry it up the long stairs to get into the restaurant. 3. The washroom is accessible by going down the stairs, going outside and into an adjacent unit. It may be that the restaurant is under renovation or that they are expanding since it seems they have outdoor dining by the sidewalk at a certain time. Overall, I would have given 5 stars had it been that the place was easily accessible to the public and for strollers/wheelchairs (they have a sign in one of their doors for access but we tried it and we were unable to enter through it). If you want some great dining experience and great food and you don't need wheelchair/stroller access, then this is a restaurant worth a try if you're by Pasadena!
I read reservations were recommended. I did it through the open table app(I think). Anyway, entrance is on Union Street side. Up some stairs and the receptionist is past the bar(interestingly). Mentioned I had a reservation and they checked me in and asked where I wanted to sit. Wife said outside...which is intimate but with the surrounding noise of other restaurant goers. We were served water and given menus. Wife selected Fettuccine with Gamberetti. I asked for Penne con Pollo. (See the photos!) Both delicious. To finish the night we shared a tiramisu. Thank you and God bless you.
1st impressions are very important when visiting a restaurant and can often set the tone for the evening ahead. . My wife and I arrived a little early for our reservation. We greeted the hostess who appeared aloof and indifferent to our presence. She combined talking with smacking her lips as she chewed a mouthful of gum for all to see. This was the type of ‘greeting’ one would expect in a third rate diner certainly not in this eatery which has such a positive reputation from reviews. I would seriously recommend that the owner/s may consider addressing this poor behavior. Our waiter Patrick was the consummate professional supported by his assistant Jose. Providing us with excellent attentive service throughout dinner. The food was both well presented and delicious. We shall return again soon and encourage friends to also. Hopefully the hostess will lose the gum.
Great Mediterranean restaurant in downtown Pasadena. We enjoyed our food and drinks. Loved the outdoor patio seating. We ordered a few dishes and among them loved chicken Kabob. Salmon was also fantastic! Would highly recommend if you are in the area and are craving for Mediterranean food. Friendly staff..
We were here for a company event, and the outside balcony is really lovely—it’s a beautiful spot in a great part of Pasadena. The food was good and flavorful with a solid variety of Mediterranean dishes, and the staff were both pleasant and helpful throughout the evening. However, from a logistics and planning perspective, there is a major accessibility issue: the restaurant is not ADA accessible. You have to navigate large flights of stairs to get to the space, which is a huge factor to consider depending on your group. For parking, there’s a lot across the street that runs about $10–$12. It’s a nice venue, but the lack of accessibility is a significant drawback for me.
Stop by here to have a quick dinner after my appointment in Pasadena. I basically googled the place and checked it on open table then booked it. It was on a second level which I wasn’t expecting, but not a problem at all, and I was received well by the receptionist. She offered if I wanted the Patio, but since I was alone, I opted for the inside table, which was fine because it was more quiet. Steffi, the table server was super nice in spite of being very busy serving the patio area as well. I had the grilled octopus for my starter, and I’m so glad it was one of the best octopus I’ve ever had. For Dr the portion was pretty generous so I ended up just ordering the Mediterranean salad. It was really good. But I needed some kind of bread to eat those lemony tangy flavors of both the octopus and the salad, and so I asked Steffi for some bread I guess just to lessen the acidity. She responded sure you can have some, but we charge for it. And at that point, I didn’t care cause my food was too tangy to be eaten by itself. I figured for three bucks I can pay for bread that used to be a gratis in most restaurants I go to. And I’m not a person that would nickel and dime everything but because it kind of is weird to be paying for bread in a restaurant like this place. I made sure I checked how much they charged the bread that they served me. Much to my surprise I was charged six dollars for the bread. You’ll be the judge if it’s truly worth the six dollars. I took a picture of the bread in here. Ambience was good and quiet because I was inside there was only one other table with a couple eating next to me. I looked outside on the patio. It was almost full, and the ambience was really nice also as well. There is paid public parking across the street which was $10 for me for the whole time I ate. Would I go back there? Probably will if I will not be alone because I felt I wasted so much by dining alone. For example, I wasted 4 slices of the bread because I only ate two slices, and barely finished half of the big bottle of the Pellegrino sparkling water which I wish I was told they only had one large bottle being that I was alone.
This restaurant is on my top 3 of all LA. I have brought at least 67 new families to this restaurant. All 250 times I’ve been here I’ve gotten the Calamari, Bruschetta, Large greek salad extra cheese, and the absolutely mouth watering Farfalle con pesto /pollo and add shrimp. Nothing better than this combo in all of LA. I went back recently and then again today only to find out 2/4 of those items changed. Not necessarily for the better either. The salad no longer has lettuce, i under the traditional (Horiatiki) does not have lettuce, but its always had lettuce and now without the lettuce the plate is 50% smaller yet the price is the same. Then the worst part that broke my family’s heart, was changing the farfalle to paccheri… dont get me wrong, the paccheri is good but it comes with like 12 pieces. The farfalle was a lot more filling and was absolutely perfect. I literally had to go to Mi Piace after to eat again because the portions were not filling like before. I understand there is new ownership and the sons are taking charge and I commend them looking for change, but for all thats good in this world, please put that lettuce and farfalle back.. some of the other regulars said the same. I love this place but really hope some miracle happens so the farfalle gets back. Ironically i went in to record another video for my social media food page and out of respect held back. Hope to come back to the amazing food that was always here and hope to be to adjust this review to the 5 stars it deserves and to re-write this whole thing.
I’ve been to this place many times, and it never disappoints. The service is always excellent, and the rooftop seating offers a nice atmosphere—perfect for a relaxed meal or drinks. The food is consistently good, and they have a solid wine selection. It’s become a favorite neighborhood spot for me. If you’re looking for a reliable place with good food and a pleasant ambiance, I’d recommend giving it a try.
Excellent food food, very good service. On the pricy side. I would have given it 5 stars, but for some strange reason, management decided to put a pretty loud group of 8 people right next to our table, although the restaurant was empty as you see on the pictures. There was no reason to put those people right next to our table.
The food was delicious and the upstairs patio was very nice. The tables are really close together so once someone is sitting next to you, it is hard focusing on your conversation when you can hear everything the other party is saying. Staff was efficient and courteous but waiter could have been more engaging. He did his job. Had the lamb kebab, red curry risotto, and fried smelts and all were tasty. The apple tart dessert was a little over cook and had a weird texture. Would order the tiramisu next time. Parked across the street which was $12 dollars. Next time we will park in the structure one block to the east on Union. They charge $1.00 per 20 minutes on the weekdays so we could have saved $6 there. Glad the elevator was working. Just to the left of the main entrance in the alley way. You will have to call them to come down to open the door. Will probably come again.
I have been here over 30 times since my daughter was born until she went to college. This review is for overall experiences. When I first went there, the food was good. They gave free bread, it was a stable to this restaurant. They no longer give the bread. They also add a 3% fee on top of the tax. It's hidden at the very bottom of the menu. Why are customers paying for your staff health care, if your staff are that important to your restaurant, provide them with health insurance. The food is not as good. The removed a lot of vegetarian options (no more pasta, no more pizzas). They have salads, and a vegetarian mezza tasting menu. On my last visit, I order of a vegetarian platter, they put meat on there, ruin my lunch. This place is not really greek food, it's more middle Eastern food. The location is great, indoor and balcony sitting. They do take a while to sit even if the restaurant is not busy. Note pictures are taken over the years, they no longer have pizza, and the sandwich.
Nice sitting area, Service was not great but ok. Very expensive compared to food quality. Taste: some dishes were good and some were ok. My wife told the waiter her kabab was overly cooked the waiter wanted to prove her wrong and did not change the dish. My 15 months baby boy's grilled chicken was chared and waiter insisted that was ok but babies can not eat chared meat so I spent good amount of my time peeling the chicken to feed him the inside of it only!
A really nice visit featuring an incredible rooftop patio and wonderful service - thank you Frankie. The SANTORINI MEZZE TASTING was top notch. really great. Here is the problem - I ordered steak frites medium rare and it arrived well done. not medium well. brown inside well. Also over seasoned which is hard to do for me. It was truly unacceptable for a fine restaurant. In good company so it would have been a scene to return but should have been.
The service was good. And the tables outside had heaters, which kept us warm while we were dining. But, I have to say that the food was pretty disappointing and so was the Medijito. The kebabs we ordered didn’t wow us at all. The lamb kebab wasn’t tender nor flavorful. And, the hummus that came with it wasn’t smooth and soft, but rather pretty hard. The Medijito tasted like a spiked grapefruit juice. We won’t be returning. The quality doesn’t justify the price.
I found a wire inside the pesto pasta! first and last time ever in this restaurant. Tables way too small Too expensive for the experience
On 8/10/2025, my family and I decided to visit this restaurant for what we hoped would be a pleasant night. We arrived at 8 PM and placed our order shortly after. About 30 minutes later, the waitress returned and informed us that the kitchen had fallen behind and our order would be delayed — even though the restaurant was only about one-third full. While we waited for an hour, the waitress never came by to ask if we needed anything. After another 25 minutes, I decided to speak to the short, blonde-haired manager, who could clearly see I was upset about the long wait. She didn’t even come over to apologize. After paying, we noticed all the cooks sitting down and eating their meals. Long story short, my plate was cold, the manager was missing in action, and the cooks seemed more focused on eating at their own table than making sure our food was prepared on time.
I came here to break my fast. (I am Muslim) and ordered the Moroccan lamb. On the description it didn’t say it had wine or alcohol in it just apricot, prunes, couscous and the braised lamb. From the first bite the lamb was tough and hard to chew and very bitter. I was very hungry as you can imagine so I didn’t pay attention to the flavor until several bites in so you can imagine how upsetting it was when I decided to ask and found out it actually did have alcohol. If you’re coming here, please especially as a Muslim ask in depth how the food is being cooked.
We went for my wife’s birthday. Service was poor. They barely stopped by our table. Food was very delayed. We complained but the reason for the delay was that there was a large table in a different area. However people around us got their food way before us even though they got there after us. Food was hit or miss. My wife’s dish, the Branzino, was way over salted and not edible. Some of the other dishes were okay and others were not good.
We ordered the bransino, chopino, and risotto last night for my birthday dinner. Right off the bat, each dish was poorly presented and didn’t look sufficient for the price. The bransino had completely burnt skin and the fish was served on top of flavorless potatoes to make it seem thicker than it was. It was really disappointing as bransino is typically a dish I love to eat. When I mentioned the burnt skin on the bransino to a waiter, he left and never did anything about it. Instead, another waiter came to our table and asked if the risotto we ordered was good enough to be a Valentine’s Day special. Later on, our waiter came back and offered to give us a free tiramisu for the issues with the bransino. I expected them to apologize for the mistake and ask me if I wanted something else to make up for it, but instead we got a desert we didn’t want. Additionally, we got the check without asking for it as if they were trying to push us out of the restaurant and make room. That was in such poor taste and we were incredibly disappointed yet again.
