Great place for a quick bite to eat in or for take out. Their onigiris are FRESH! Parking/Environment: There’s a dedicated parking lot. On a Sunday early afternoon, it didn’t seem too packed but we just parked in the 10 minute spots since we only ordered take out. There were high and low seating indoors and some outdoor patio seats. Food: Aside from their onigiris and hand rolls, they also sold Japanese snacks and drinks. We ordered Spam & Egg Musubi ($4.25), Salmon Yuzu Miso ($4), Spicy Lobster Shrimp ($5.50), and Spicy Tuna Mayo ($4). They were sooo good and hit the spot! Wish I ordered more.
I def recommend getting the 3 Handroll set for a filling lunch, very worth it as you get 3 handrolls (1 premium), your choice of sashimi, and edamame. I got the Spicy Eggplant Onigiri, Negi Toro Handroll, and Blue Crab Handroll. My favorites were the handrolls. I thought there was too much rice for the onigiri and it wasn’t spicy at all. The handrolls were pretty big and enjoyable. The restaurant is bright and clean.
Pretty nice spot here! We enjoyed the salmon handrolls, and salmon nigiri. There is a parking lot, and some street parking. Cool interior with plenty of seating. There is also about 4 outdoor tables. Kid and dog friendly outside. Salmon was tasty, and everything was fresh. We also got the eggplant ohnigiri. That was solid, but mostly rice… staff was nice, and it was a fun spot for a quick bite! The menu was a bit confusing; the combo seemed higher pricing than the items individually.
Delicious Onigiri Just so fantastic, totally worth it
Amazing Onigiri and handrolls! We had the handroll set of three with bay scallop, Uni cheese (don’t miss this one!) and spicy salmon. All excellent. We also ordered onigiri- bacon and avo, salmon and tuna.. salmon was our least favorite. Also seaweed salad is perfection and please don’t skip the lychee lemonade!
I visited Rice & Nori on a Monday around 5 PM, and while it was semi-busy, most people were ordering to-go. I chose to dine in, and for my first visit, I was super impressed! I ordered the 3-hand roll set for $19, and it was absolutely delicious. I tried the salmon, negi toro, and bay scallop rolls, and honestly, I couldn’t pick a favorite they were all that good! The set also included salmon sashimi, and I was thrilled it came with ikura. The vibe here is super chill, not fancy, but perfect for a relaxed meal with amazing food. Boyfriend ordered Shio Salmon onigiri and it was amazing loved that the rice was warm but for the hand roll it wasn’t. Only downside is that the wasabi was not spicy.
One of the best onigiri restaurants of all time. Highly recommend the yuzu salmon. Tastes incredibly fresh
First time here and thought it was great. Ordered four items thinking it wouldn’t be enough but was full after three - got the spicy tuna hand roll and three Onigiri (rice balls): Spam and egg, Salmon Yuzu Miso and Chicken Teriyaki (see pic).
Great place for hand rolls and onigiri! The uni cheese hand roll was very heavy on cheese and light on uni. Tried the onigiri with eggplant—very tasty and filling. Great prices too. Parking lot can get crowded so you might need to take some time to find parking. Prices are cheap and staff is friendly. Highly recommend!
Love the riceball... The rice is marinated and cooked perfectly. The riceball is not packed too dense... The ingredients are fresh. Kids loved it. Great service, friendly staff, place is cleaned.
The hand rolls were fresh and tasted amazing!! Customer service is awesome!! Food comes out very quickly.
delicious food. highly recomend if in the area. perfect takewaway. everything we had was amazing.
Wonderful selection of onigiri and hand rolls. Ingredients are super fresh. Amazing for grab and go or a casual sit down lunch. I personally recommend the spam and egg musubi, bay scallop roll, umeboshi onigiri! Everything is fantastic. Service can be lacking because the line is often long. Indoor and outdoor seating available!
Easily one of the best onigiri I've had. It's a bit on the saltier side, which I personally like, but might be off-putting for some. I tried their spicy mayo onigiri and salmon handroll. Both were good.
Its like a Starbucks but for sushi. Very modern atmosphere, good service. Their rice and nori are definitely their highlights; id recommend the hand rolls or onigiri. Cool selection of drinks, though i didnt get any.
Rice & Nori is a great spot esp. for lunch. It’s like casual sushi but at poor people prices. Instead of spending $30 on a couple sushi rolls, I can spend $13 on three onigiri and be perfectly content with the world. Making it a great casual lunch spot. The staff is nice.
I like coming here with my friend for a quick bite. The staff is friendly and the food seems fresh. The place is clean, although it can get crowded at times.
Incredible staff, wonderful food and exceptional service. I got lost on my way home out of LA and was given directions by these wonderful people. Thank you again.
I've been coming to LITTLE TOKYO since 2000. Eric is the BEST SUSHI MAN IN THE CITY. The food is great and the service is even better. The Ortiz sisters are the best waitresses. They're all very hard working, extremely intelligent, they are gracious in their serving skills and then they just happen to be beautiful
This place was a staple for me back in Pearland, but glad its found a home in Pasadena. The food is just as great as the first time I tried it. It's good prices for reasonable portions. Definitely a get away place for date night or just meeting friends. Try the Royal Alex roll. Service is exceptional.
Little Tokyo is hands-down my favorite restaurant. The food is always fresh and delicious, and every meal feels like it’s made with care. The staff are so friendly and welcoming that it instantly feels like home the moment you walk in. It’s cozy, comfortable, and the kind of place you never want to leave. Little Tokyo isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a place that keeps you coming back. I am now a regular!😋
The spicy chirashi is to die for! So many fish options in bowl with a great, rich, but not too spicy sauce! And the rice....I don't even know what to say except that each grain was consistently cooked yet individually recognized! The rolls were stuffed full but put together well enough that they didn't fall apart. We drank Kirin and the beer was so cold and poured into a cold mug for another level delicious! If you are looking for delicious sushi 🍣 this is the place. There is no other like it from here to Austin!
The food was delicious. It came out pretty fast. You have a lot to choose from. The only weird thing is that you order and pay at the door, then sit down. Didn't know who to tip because everybody works so well together And always checking on you. Taking my kids there soon. They are going to love it. Update: took my kids there and was not a disappointment. They enjoyed all the different food we got. Even got a couple of sushi rolls. I can't wait to go back. Wish it was closer to my house.
Ive been to a couple of sushi places. But none in the Pasadena area or South-east side where I live. Little Tokyo is just execlent. Friendly staff, clean store, easy parking, wait was not long on a Friday night. My only complaint about this amazing place is that the menus font is way too small. I will be coming back to try out more menu items.
This place is great. If you like sushi you will love this spot. They have a huge menu, been there a few times but haven't even scratch the surface. They have more than just sushi, but I have not tired any of that yet (plan on trying something next time though). The atmosphere is chill, you can come in flip flops or a suit. Every time I have been here the waiting staff have been cool - I highly recommend this place.
Okay so first off It was my first time here and let me just say that as much as I love sushi I might not ever go back again . It's way too expensive the sushi is the only thing good besides the cheese puffs and salad . The took forever to take our order and to bring it and the service was very unprofessional and sloppy. Some places hire young ppl for the appearance but don't bother to actually train them to stand out with class . It's giving 2 basic for such an expensive place and the servers get paid extremely good for it to be so unpleasant and to top it off they take they're own tip amount which was 30 off back for what ?!
I want to start by saying I really love their hand rolls. Their service is almost atrocious though. The people working at the cashier who take your order have actually been nice but the ones filling and calling out the order have been so consistently rude. Aside from being stingy with giving out soy sauce, for the 3rd time I’ve had to ask for utensils on a to go order. When I had to go back into the store after realizing they hadn’t given me utensils even though they asked and I said yes the guy at the station stopped stared at me and said it should be in the bag…guess what it wasn’t - he almost looked at my like I was lying. Would love to come back because I love the food but too many negative interactions.
The onigiri ratio was way off—too much rice and not enough of the filling. The musubi fell apart for everyone that ordered one in my group because they had been made waaaay in advanced—the nori was super greasy and obliterated. The miso soup was meh. The hand rolls were ok at best but again had way too much rice and not enough filling. $90 and we walked away hungry. Definitely not going back.
I should’ve known when I saw the gigantic menu that nothing on it would be good. The menu is overwhelming and none of the things we ordered were particularly good. The fish wasn’t bad, but you could tell it wasn’t that fresh. Just a bit chewy and a little flavorless, and with a little too much smell. It was also almost 4 dollars for a single piece of sushimi. Very expensive, especially considering what you get. The service in the atmosphere weren’t bad though. All in all, I don’t think I’ll go back. My advice to them would be to cut the menu back, a lot, so that way they can reduce their inventory and focus on making fewer items at higher quality with fresher ingredients.
i got a list of reasons for why I’m giving 1 star tonight. our server didn’t check on us, didn’t take our first dirty plates and wasn’t even the one to bring us our food. Let’s start with when we walked in we had no idea what was going on. It wasn’t until a girl came over and told us in sorta a annoyed tone we had to order at the DESK. Not only is that inconvenient, you have no time to decide. My wife didn’t even know what to get. We sat down finally after ordering, got our appetizer that came with our bento boxes. My mushroom soup 3/10. It had flavor but not to die for. My wife said her salad was 4/10. It lacked flavor and she was honestly disappointed by the time we got the bento boxes. Barely any meat for $19.00+ each box. Chicken Katsu lacked flavor, fried rice was bland and the tempura was one the worse I’ve ever had. In my opinion I will not be returning, it’s overpriced. My wife even said let’s go get Burger King as she was eating her bento box. Out of all the places I’ve been in the area for Japanese, this is the most flavorless, uninviting atmosphere place. Just not worth it at all.
Please don’t waste your money here. I’m a foodie and thought about giving this local restaurant a try. My first RED flag was paying before we were seated, as a first time comer this was alarming because I was unsure what I was even paying for. Second RED flag the images below will show you what $60 worth of food with get you: deceiving ingredients that don’t match what the menu describes. We had to remove the soggy “crunchy” topping to salvage the rolls to no avail. Third RED flag is for the very inattentive staff. After our food was delivered, no one came to check on us or the food. They also delivered the appetizer and entrees at the same time, rushing the food out without quality control.
I can't believe your ordering, pickup and dine in system. Tonight called in an order. When arrived for pickup they have 1 person taking orders, seating and getting the to go orders. It's unfortunate cause this used to be our place to enjoy a great dinner, happy hour and always got great service. Plus once seated, if you choose to order something else you have to go back to the front and order with that 1 person. I hate to say this but I can see why Pearland location is closing. There is better ways to run the business and keep your employees and the customers safe. As for the food quality, I would give a 3.5
