I looked for a Michelin star restaurant in Paso Robles to celebrate my wife’s birthday. I stumbled across The Restaurant at Justin, read the various reviews and made our reservations. It does require a $100 deposit per person that is refunded on arrival. From the moment we arrived we were greeted and treated with fantastic hospitality. We had opted for the Chef’s Choice and wine pairing and were delighted with every single course. I had wished I had taken photos of every course but was initially concerned with not showing class. After a certain point, I no longer cared. The food appearance and taste were just too fantastic to care. I had taken my wife to a Michelin star restaurant in Italy when we first started dating in Italy 30 years ago. We were eager to experience the same service and culinary quality. We were not disappointed. As we decided with the Chef’s menu, it was a set meal with wine pairing. Each course that arrived looked like a piece of artwork. The wine pairing was excellent, my only recommendation would be to advise the patron that one glass would be paired with one or two courses. As there wasn’t a pour per each course, and you were required to gauge what wine was for what courses. The views were also fantastic as the restaurant was nestled in rolling hills of the vineyard and reminded me of Northern Italy. Book in advance and enjoy the best of Paso Robles.

We ate at Justin's restaurant 15 years ago, it was awesome back then and now it's an experience not to be missed. Every dish was better than the one before, it was an ethereal dinner with a few hacks that I'll add. The restaurant & bar area are beautiful, it reminded me of The Menu, except nobody was yelling "yes chef". There's a great outdoor patio and grounds that aren't to be missed. I can't adequately describe the food, other than to say each dish is a new experience of heaven. The hacks are if you join the wine club, it's 20% off of dinner. There are 2 menu options, the Estate menu for $225 and Chef menu for $350, the Chefs menu is the better value and incredible dishes. If you're into wine paring with the menu, it's $110 for each person, but you can also share 1 wine paring for 2 people. The Wagu beef was beautifully done, as was the cheese souffle, the scallop with caviar in a white sauce was amazing, it was all I could do not to use my finger to scoop up every molecule of sauce. The executive and sous chefs are artists and this menu is their masterpiece. The staff is extraordinary, they're personable and attentive without hovering or being disruptive. Obviously this is an expensive restaurant, but if you're looking for a memorable event or celebrating a special moment, I can't recommend Justin highly enough.

Reservations are needed with $100 deposit. Facility is clean and well maintained. Staff is professional and knowledgeable about the food being served. Chef has wide range of culinary knowledge and experience before leading this kitchen. The courses take you on a journey of the California golden coast. Allows you to taste the local offerings through team to table concept. Sommelier’s wine pairings are exceptional, really marries the savior flavors of the food with the tartness of the wines. Overall 5/5 Best of luck on Star #2

Wonderful Michelin-star restaurant. We did the tasting menu + wine pairing and everything was truly special. If there’s a place where I’d highly recommend the wine pairing experience that would be it! Atmosphere, dish presentation and service were also excellent. Thanks to the whole staff for the wonderful experience. P.s. the cheese soufflé (cooked to perfection) was my favourite dish

It's a wonderful restaurant and definitely a 5 star experience. To be honest though, it was my least favorite Michelin Starred restaurant so far. But since they are all great, it still gets 5 stars. Service was impeccable, food was good with a couple of great dishes too. My primary issue is cost.. It was 225 for dinner = 110 for the wine pairing. I've just had other Top tier restaurants that felt more fair in their cost. And 110 for the wine pairing w/ the tiny pours feels too high. Should have just bought like 3 bottles for the table and shared them.

Justin's truly deserves its Michelin star for culinary excellence. From the amuse-bouche to dessert, each dish was exquisitely prepared and presented. The flavors were bold yet balanced - I especially enjoyed the Japanese A5 Wagyu Rib Eye and Local Halibut. What's more, the complimentary petit fours were a sweet surprise. While the bill reflected the fine dining experience, it was worth every penny. Thank you Justin and team for the awesome dinner - I'll be back!

Our four hour experience, on a perfect Spring evening, at an outdoor table (heated), w phenomenal & gracious (yet relaxed & personal) service, is one we shall long remember. Six unexpected Amuse-Bouches arrived at timely intervals, each interesting, satisfying and a prelude to the following course. All were paired with generous portions of seven different wines and limitless on-site reverse osmosis water (or fruit Mocktails). The presentations from Executive Chef Rachel Haggstrom and Pastry Chef Saree Musick reflected the newly earned Michelin Star & Green Star, while the service championed by Jason Santos reflects the honor of the Five Star Forbes rating - all told, one of 75 with this combination of awards & leadership.

Visited 5/5/2022 for dinner to celebrate a birthday and the experience was much more than we expected. We appreciated the pre fixe menu along with the suggested wine pairing. Amazing service from our host, server, and sommelier. Beautiful experience overall with the Michelin guide restaurant! Left with two bottles of wine. Wish we could have left with a tub of the delicious butter.

Beautiful ambiance and vineyard views. Service Staffs were very Courteous and welcoming. Wines, cheese charcuterie platters and truffle fries was delicious. Except for the swarming bees flying around your food. All in all it was a wonderful experience.

Had an incredible meal with close friends and loved ones at the Restaurant at Justin. Each course was divine. I suggest whatever additions they offer! The wonderful evening was topped by meeting Chef Haggstrom.

Fabulous atmosphere in the middle of beautiful Vinyard. Try the flight of hand made chocolate pared with aoustending wine.

Sharon and Lisa took care of us. We asked for a specific flavor profile of wine, and oh boy did Sharon deliver. Palettes were Satiated with divinity. It’s 14 hours later and we’re still full. Idk why some diva posted the portions are small maybe because it’s ten different round and we ate for three hours. Go to Burger King if you want basic, you’re not worthy of this gift 😋. Honestly from the service to the food and wine, that was top 5 meals of our lives. The platinum reserve 2019 cab is forcing me into sobriety. Nothing else will scratch that itch again. I miss you and we’ll see you again. Cheers

Make sure to try the burgers! The patio provides beautiful views while you enjoy your food and wine. Tasting fees are waived with the purchase of wine at certain thresholds. Wine club offers different levels of discounts.

I can't say enough about this lovely winery. It's a plus that dogs are welcomed. I opted for the wine and chocolate pairing. Lori was amazing. She was knowledgeable (EXTREMELY), and so patient with all of the questions that this novice wine lover posed. It is truly an elegant and lovely experience. 🥰

I went here for my anniversary dinner with my husband while visiting from the northeast. The ambience, extensive library wine selection, and service were just the tip of the iceberg. The kitchen and locally sourced from the property cuisine was outstanding. Worthy of a trip!

When the sun is shinning but not too hot, this place is perfect for an outdoor lunch. Even when the sun moved around, the staff was kind enough to notice and moved umbrellas to keep us comfortable. As the meals highlight Justin wines, we chose a flight to share, which came with a very healthy refill of on varietal. This ended up being a perfect amount of wine for the two of us while allowing us to sample their wines over a delicious lunch.

This restaurant is beautiful. I loved the food and loved the wine. The waiters/waitresses were great at explaining the story behind each wine and I was just blown away by the service and taste. I'd love to go back again.

This was an experience like no other. From the moment we were greeted and personally escorted in and introduced to the maitre’d, to the personal touches by staff and the chefs. The creative genius in the kitchen really connected us to a much bigger world as every little detail was sourced globally or grown by the chef. An excellent experience worthy of your highest expectations.

We had a truly memorable anniversary dinner at The Restaurant at Justin. From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. The food was exquisite—highlights included the halibut crudo, lamb, pasta, and a series of creative and delicious amuse-bouche selections. The kitchen was also incredibly thoughtful and accommodating of our dietary needs.Dessert was equally impressive, providing a perfect finale. What truly elevated the evening, though, was the wine pairing—easily the best I’ve ever experienced. Each selection was thoughtfully chosen and complemented the dishes with precision and elegance. The service was just as outstanding as the food. The servers were warm, attentive, and deeply knowledgeable. They introduced each course with care, explained the ingredients and preparation beautifully, and ensured perfect timing throughout the meal. Their genuine hospitality made us feel truly welcomed. Chef Rachel’s artistry with fresh ingredients shone through in every dish, and truly justifies the Michelin star. The harmony of flavors and presentation reflected a high level of craft and creativity. A phenomenal experience from beginning to end—highly recommended, and can not wait to go back!

There are so many bees. I couldn't eat outside. Bees rushed every plate. I didn't enjoy the food and wine. After all, we changed the table I could afford to eat the dishes. Hamburger was really, really good. Pasta is so chewy. But salmon is Soso, not crispy.

Had a delicious lunch here before doing a tasting (which you get free when you buy lunch - make sure you ask). Menu is small for lunch but what they have is tasty and filling. American style food (burgers, salads and sandwiches) with a fresh Californian twist. About $60 for two with two glasses of wine.

The food and scenery was exceptional. Unfortunately, the service we received during our last visit was mediocre. Perhaps she was spread too thin or didn't care.

We went for our anniversary dinner 6/20 - looking for a Michelin Star restaurant in Paso Robles - and the food, service, and atmosphere was good! It would have been a solid experience however there was a hair in the main pasta dish which at the Michelin Star level, should not have happened. There was no compensation or address from the Chef. A complimentary bottle of wine would have saved the experience, however it was not offered. The food was good, would probably try the other Michelin Star option in Paso Robles instead of Justin next time.

The service was excellent, but the culinary skills, creativity, and presentation of the dishes were lacking. Unfortunately, the flavors and appearance did not meet expectations. It seems the kitchen struggles to transform high-quality ingredients into exceptional dishes. Each dish was either tasteless or dry, and the presentation was unappealing to the point where I didn't even want to take any more photos.

Book ahead on open table, we didn’t and had to try to talk our way in to a very quiet and empty restaurant. (Drove away, found signal, made reservation and came back). Wines are ok, service wasn’t great. The place came across as quite pretentious, but I guess a lot of the bigger wineries get like that. I’d suggest you will find a friendlier experience elsewhere.

Our experience at this restaurant was underwhelming, especially considering the price and the reputation. The food simply wasn’t very good. Several dishes felt like the chef was trying to be creative for the sake of creativity, but the ingredients didn’t work together in a balanced way. Flavors clashed rather than complemented each other. A few dishes were passable, but nothing stood out in a memorable way, and one of our desserts never arrived. Service also fell short. Our bill was inconsistent — we were charged a different amount the second day than what we had originally been given. We requested a kitchen tour and never received any response. At multiple points, there were no servers on the floor; it looked like the staff were overextended and constantly pulled into the back, which left the dining room unattended for long stretches. Overall, the experience wasn’t terrible, but for a fine-dining restaurant at this price level, it missed the mark on both food and service. It’s not a place I would recommend based on our visit, and in my view, it’s not worth the hype or the cost.

Beautiful atmosphere. The service needs a little refinement. When we arrived to check in the hostess did not communicate effectively to let us know what's is going on. She took our name and then just walked off. Eventually she came back about 10-15 minutes later and took us to our table which did not have enough chairs for 3 people. There seems to be an issue with what the restaurant has programmed in the Tock app. We made a lunch reservation and when we arrived we were advised the kitchen was closed and they are having issues with their reservation system. The manager was amazing and tried his absolute best to make it right and brought french fries and brussel sprouts. Then the server forgot to take an order from someone at the table. Maybe it's an off day but for the price point of this place and it being Michelin rated, I would expect a higher level of service and refinement. Maybe it's because it's off-season?

Wine was just ok, they used to be much better but their wine maker went to halter ranch. Overall food was meh, they are not even close to high end restaurants in SF but try to charge the same. They are also very pretentious about their wine when I did not love their high end wine the waiter assumed I did not drink wine (when I have been drinking lots of wine from all over napa, Paso etc so). So found them rude and annoying.

D
Dan Berns

Two words: hornet problem. Staff uninterested in accommodating their guests, which is surprising for a winery of this caliber.

C
Camilo Idarraga

Worst service from Hostess ever! Wasps all over the place and once you get your food served they won't let you eat. Staff doesn't care, they suggest you to "cover your food or eat it fast"... what??? Menu for lunch before Thursday is pretty basic. You get the Justin bottles cheaper at Albertsons, don't bother to go there.

After experiencing an amazing, delightful and delicious dinner at a Michelin restaurant in france - Lalique at Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey, we were excited about finding Justin during our visit to Paso Robles. Unfortunately and rather sadly the 2 experiences could not be any more different. We selected the Chef’s Tasting Menu a 3 hour experience at Justin. I wish we could get out time back never mind the expense. From the start, they placed us facing the kitchen door which was constantly opening and closing very distracting. We requested to be moved to another table, there were several open in main outdoor area, yet they chose to put us in the outskirt area requiring us to request a heater. We were clearly far removed from main sitting area and lacking any ambiance. It’s as if we were an afterthought. Then the FOOD - on a rating scale, I would have to rate at the lowest score. The sample size bites of food lacked creativity and uniqueness. The food seemed to lack flavor, taste and cold. Some of the finger food was soggy and broke upon touch. Although the service staff was good they did seem eager to rush the service removing plates as others were still eating. To say we were disappointed would not be enough. We’ve dined at many restaurants (not Michelin rated) with exceptional service and delicious food. I would skip this experience.
