Nice ambiance. View of the golf course and pond. Entrees very good and fairly priced. Try the "Shadowlake French". Their take on Chicken French but with Cod instead plus Green Beans and Rice Pilaf with a nice sauce overall. Good portions.

Was there for my Nieces wedding. The venue was excellent. Staff (Bartenders, Servers and event coordinator) were excellent. It was a sit down dinner with a choice of 4 entrees, they were all excellent. Great place for a wedding!

My new husband and I had our wedding at Shadow Lake in October of 2017. Every single thing was perfect. We were passed through a couple hands between the beginning and end of our planning, but everyone we worked with was AMAZING. Our guests absolutely RAVED about the food. My new husband said it was the best steak he's ever had, and he wasn't the only person to say that. I had the mango relish salmon and felt the same way. The servers brought my husband and I new drinks throughout the night and a staff member asked us what we wanted to drink/eat when we started taking pictures after the ceremony. The views were gorgeous, the bartenders were friendly, and we couldn't have asked for a better venue in every way possible.

Love shadow lake. Both courses are fun and well maintained most of the time. Shadow will let you out on the course on nice days on their off-season which gets extra points from me. Nice clubhouse, friendly staff

A beautiful golf course and country club. Very surprising that it is a public and not a private club. It LOOKS like a private club. The food was excellent and the grounds are truly beautiful. Definitely worth the visit and if you're a golfer, you'll be very happy with their course.

Just came home from trip here and to the Eastman House. A fun day and every person agreed that the luncheon food was delicious. Beautiful presentation and prime rib, chicken franchise and haddock all erve piping hot. Potatoes and , are you ready for this, green beans actually cooked and not raw!. Waitstaff could not have been more attentive.

Shadow Lake did an incredible job with every single aspect of the day. I was a very much DIY bride, but I had a lot of elements to my decor and florals. I provided a detailed list of directions for everything while I was downstairs getting ready. For example, normally a florist would be around setting up centerpieces, etc., but I didn’t have that. Ryan and the entire team at Shadow Lake did an incredible job taking my vision and bringing it to life. It was SO beautiful. We also had a pretty intricate menu throughout the day. The food was delicious and everything we could have hoped for. At the end of the night, they cleaned everything up for us so we could continue enjoying our night at our after party. It was such a relief to not have to worry about it. We are so happy we went with Shadow Lake and it was well worth the investment.

What a superb location. Looking out from the restaurant window was so soothing to the eyes. Great environs. So picturesque. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was superb as well. The patrons were cheerful and having a good time. In the other part of the restaurant a wedding reception was being held and the restaurant staff was well dressed, poised, and cheerful. An enjoyable evening and experience. Will go back again.

We live in Penfield but had never visited the restaurant at Shadow Lake. I played golf with my oldest daughter today, and we completed that experience with lunch in the restaurant. It was REALLY GOOD! The menu is interesting. Not what i expected. We both had French Onion Soup, excellent. I had their variation on a club sandwich. Fantastic! My daughter had a Chicken Euro Wrap. Wonderful!! Great beer and wine selection. This restaurant is worth a trip.

Drove in to deliver something to a family member. I had not been there in years. Everything was beautiful and completely maintained. Plenty of staff everywhere making the grounds look amazing for the summer.

I had my wedding at Shadow Lake, and I wish I could go back every weekend to relive the weekend again and again! It was such a great experience. Ryan was attentive to all of my questions leading up to the big day, and was focused on how I felt from pre-ceremony all the way to the end of the night. The whole staff made my guests feel welcome, and did everything silently behind the scenes. As a wedding planner in the local industry myself, I know how important it is for venues to have a strong team that understands the details and treats each couple like their wedding is just as special. Very nice bar and restaurant. The food is wonderful and the staff are top notch! It's four years later and it's still one of our favorite places. They have a beautifully remodelled, upscale bar. We like to sit at the bar while enjoying drinks and delicious appetizers (they have great happy hour specials). We just had French onion soup and quesadillas that were awesome! Moe and Bridget are wonderful. Dine in the restaurant for a more intimate experience. Great food, atmosphere and staff in a relaxed atmosphere! Hope to stay for the music one of these days. Edited today 6/9/23: Where did Moe go? We used to see him on Fridays.

Our company recently had their Holiday party at Shadow Lake and I can't say enough about how amazing it was! Our employees have had great reviews and compliments on the look of the room, the staff, and the delicious food! I was overwhelmingly impressed by the ease of booking the event; Ryan was fantastic! The staff was second to none and I would agree that the food was a hole in one! I would highly recommend this venue for any event!

Shadow Lake did an amazing job for Mother’s Day Brunch. The food was delicious, so many varieties, staff were amazing, extra touch to giving every mom flowers and a photo area with balloons and a queen’s chair to sit for the photo. The management and staff went out of their way working extremely hard and the mimosas included topped the cake! Thank you for making Mother’s Day a special time!

We had my baby shower at Shadow Lake a couple weeks ago and I cannot say enough good things! The food was delicious and the staff was so friendly and attentive! We worked with Ryan Carbone to book our event and go over details and she was very helpful and responsive, I will definitely be keeping them in mind for other events in the future!

We had our wedding in the tent outside there in the fall of 2017 and it was an amazing day. The staff were very nice and accommodating. Our coordinator was great at getting all of our vendors organized so everything went off without a hitch. The food was really good and they even allowed us to bring in outside food for them to serve. They were really great and we were very happy with everything there. Even the prices for everything were very reasonable. Would definitely recommend!

Finding a wedding venue was difficult for us since we were planning our wedding from out of town. We initially started looking for places in the Finger Lakes, didn't find anything that had everything we wanted and started looking around Rochester. We wanted a venue that could accommodate our ceremony and reception to make it easy for our guests, and we wanted an outdoor ceremony to highlight the fall foliage. The ceremony site at Shadow Lake is absolutely gorgeous, you cannot even tell you are on a golf course. It is so easy for the guests to then immediately enjoy cocktail hour and then reception immediately following. We took our wedding pictures right at Shadow Lake as well (our photographer knew of a spot across the parking lot that was away from the clubhouse and looked like we were in a forest). The inside of Shadow Lake is modern, classy, and clean. The food is all phenomenal. Ryan Carbone is an absolute gem of a human, and our wedding would not have been what it was without her. If you're planning a wedding in the Rochester area, definitely check out Shadow Lake!

We got married at Shadow Lake in May 2022 and it was truly amazing!! We had our ceremony on site by the pond and our reception in the club house. Planning with Ryan was so smooth from the beginning!! We can't thank her, Pj and the rest of the staff enough for making our night so great. They were on site early to set up all of our decor and tables and made sure we had to-go meals (because let's be honest there is minimal time for the bride and groom to eat). Highly recommend this venue, the photos on site were beautiful as well!!

The food was delicious. The portions were just right. The Shrimp Alexander was better than anticipated. It consisted of prawn wrapped in bacon sitting atop sauteed spinach & pureed sweet potatoes. There was some aoli sauce as well. I wasn't sure about the combination, but it went together quite well. I was pleasantly surprised. The Salmon Caesar looked very appetizing. It was a nice size portion.

I just went for golf. I like the course. The pro shop personnel are always engaging and professional. I look forward to the next round i play there.

Shadow Lake was amazing!! I had my bridal shower here a few weeks ago and cannot give enough of a positive review. Ryan was our event coordinator and she had everything perfect. She replied in a timely manner to emails and fulfilled our Bridal Shower wishes. Our room servants were Ang and Becky, without a doubt two of the nicest people I have ever met. All my guests raved about the food selection, how clean the space was and how friendly the staff was. Lets not forget the wonderful view!!! We had a great time at Shadow Lake. We just came back from a wedding and we were very impressed. The whole place was recently renovated and looks great. The "lake" behind the clubhouse, while small, is beautiful with it's fountain right in the middle. The surround woods with all the greenery make it seem like you are in the middle of nowhere instead in the middle of a city. Fantastic service and staff. Thanks for a great time!

We decided to dine outside on the deck and enjoy the beautiful summer weather. We ordered the swordfish which was cooked perfectly surrounded by fresh tomatoes, asparagus and local chanterelle mushrooms. Chilled Thai Beef Salad was Excellent and everything was beautifully presented. Drinks were fabulous and reasonably priced. Service (Emily) was fantastic. Highly recommend Shadow Lake!

Ten of us had supper there last night and held a brief meeting for our model sailing club. We ate on a large outdoor deck. Very nice surroundings, woods and golf course. The food was well prepared and tasty. I had Sauerbraten - very good. All the others liked their food. The service was excellent.

A huge thanks to Shadow Lake for being the most amazing wedding venue. When I was researching venues, I had seen this come up as a recommendation a lot. When I finally saw the venue in person I was stunned with how beautiful it was. Day of we chose to do a stations style dinner, and the food was delicious. Not your typical wedding food. We also had hand passed hors d'oeuvres, a poutine station for late night, and signature drinks from a well stocked bar. The staff were wonderful and checking in to make sure we didn’t need anything the entire night. Ryan the coordinator who comes with the venue is a whole different ball game. She made us feel so calm and comfortable throughout the entire process. Our day had zero hiccups and that is all thanks to Ryan!

So nice to have a venue include so many things vs nickel and dime you through the whole process like how some of the other wedding venues feel/operate even if it was reflected in the invoice it didn't feel that way. They offer accessories for centerpieces to use, card boxes, a champagne toast, no cake cutting fee, 2 passes to golf etc. The other venue we looked at was double the cost and included half the amount. Oh and chef made me a special dinner that wasn't on the menu so I wouldn't have a stomach ache! The quality and service this place provides for the cost is unbeatable. We had our ceremony and reception at shadow lake on 7/30/23. From the minute we stepped in to tour, we knew this was the place we wanted. The outdoor and indoor facilities are absolutely stunning. We worked with Ryan to plan our day and she was SO helpful. She made sure every aspect of the wedding was even better than I could have imagined. It is clear that the team at shadow lake is experienced and knows how to handle every aspect of a wedding- their expertise took a lot of the stress off of me. I spent the entire wedding day here- from getting ready in their on site bridal area, to our first look and photos on the beautiful grounds into ceremony and reception. Our guests raved about the food and overall experience that they had with a flawless transition from ceremony to reception. We are so happy we choose Shadow Lake as our wedding venue!

We had my bridal shower here yesterday and everything went perfect! Ryan is an excellent coordinator. The planning process went so smoothly, she is fast and efficient with communication and answered any and all questions I had promptly! The day of, she checked on us to make sure everything was going well. The servers were on top of things and extremely helpful! The venue itself is so clean and beautiful it truly made my shower feel like it was my wedding day. I would recommend this place over and over again :)

Such a well-kept golf course! No food before 10 am. Be aware of that. Prices went up a lot since last year. Also a course security guard drives around and yells at patrons if you have a cooler for any drinks. Kind of weird since no kart service is provided.

We had our wedding in the clubhouse at Shadow Lake in November 2019. Let me just start out with it’s absolutely gorgeous here! We checked out the venue before it was even done with renovations and Ryan not only sold us on the place but on herself as coordinator. The food and drinks were excellent, and with all our family and friends, the size of the bar area was really great! We were overwhelmingly impressed with the entire staff. They were really attentive, helped us with any anything and did good setting everything up for us. Bonus was the discounts for the November ceremony and reception, but we probably would have had our wedding here no matter what.

We had a bridal shower breakfast at Shadow Lake. Ryan was fantastic during the planning process. She was very responsive to emails and worked with us on pricing. The food at the shower was wonderful and everyone was raving about it. The Woodland’s Room was very pretty and clean. The decor was exactly how Ryan and I had discussed. The service though, was not what we had expected. We had two staff members assigned to our party. Shadow Lake had many other events going on that day so they may have been busy helping with those events, but it was very difficult to find someone to help us when we needed simple things like creamers for coffee, regular tea bags, a mimosa punch refill, garbage bags for present opening, and someone to help cut the cake. At one point we just had to wait in the hall to try and catch any staff member’s attention. Once we found someone to help us they were very responsive and were quick to address our needs, but I did have to make 3 separate trips to the restaurant next door to see if I could find someone to help us with things. I felt that once they helped us with what we asked they quickly left the room and were unavailable again. Additionally, the staff did not know how to help us set up the TV for a photo slide show. My husband came and spent about 20 minutes trying to troubleshoot it himself because the staff only suggested that it wouldn’t work at all. Would have loved to have had a dedicated staff member readily available throughout the entire event so that I didn’t have to leave the party when questions or simple needs arose.

My wife and stopped in to purchase two gift certificates, then decided to have drinks and appetizers at the bar. The service was slow but friendly. The food, atmosphere and prices were good. We had a great time and plan to go back again soon.

I haven't been to Shadow Lake since their big kitchen fire, but I'm putting it back into my rotation. We had a pretty view of the pond from our table. The food was terrific; we tried the Octoberfest menu. Our server, Dana, was fantastic even while also taking care of a large banquet group. I would recommend it and I'm going back!

Very nice place, a bit expensive $27 for a salad. But the salad did taste decent. I thought it said $19.00 but got the bill and it was $27, I just wanted to get home, so I just paid it.

Absolutely beautiful venue. Outdoor seating beneath an open tent, delightful breeze off the pond, and the food was tasty. They did run out of appetizers, though, which is why they only got 4 stars. But the rest of the meal was very good.

We had Friday special, Prime Rib. Food was 3.5 - 4 stars. Fries were above average, drink was above average, meat was prepared well, but not a quality cut. One of us needed the meat cut in the kitchen because the steak knife was not up to the task. Service was substandard. Waitress did not know the menu, was not attentive, did not remember the salad, coffee got cold with no offer to refill. Had to ask other staff for the check. I recommend more training for some of the staff...

The online ordering system was easy to use would recommend in the order confirmation there be directions for pick up. Some places you call upon arrival, others you just go in. We tried the fish fries for the first time and they were alright for the price tag, the fish was a decent size but didn’t have much flavor in the batter or slaw. I would likely try something else on the menu next time. Worth checking out if you are in the area.

This review is for the Executive Course. We've enjoyed playing here for 20 years, and this was our first time of the season. The course overall is in good shape, but the tee boxes are rough and it's only May. I'd love to see them improved or a few made larger so they can be better cared for. People tend to leave trash, so a few waste cans on maybe holes, 3, 5, 7 would be nice.

I had the pork shank dinner The shank was over done dried out did not eat half and did not take home leftovers. Told the server they did nothing. Dinning room is very loud from all the glass.

Four in our party, 3 meals good but one was very salty. Our waiter was pretty weak with no personality. Food took a long time, other tables seated after us were served before - seemed he forgot to order appetizer and cleared plates prior to some being finished. Noticed no waitresses only waiters which is sad to see. Not sure if this is a hiring practice or just the staff this evening We were seated on the deck which is beautifully landscaped to have in back drop.

Went to a wedding here this fall and it was just okay. The updates to the room look great, but the food was very bad. Everyone at the table complained about either the chicken, beef or salmon. The one person didn't even attempt to eat the salmon after their first bite. Grounds were beautiful with some great picture opportunities, but the food quality ruined the experience. I will say staff were all very friendly!!

I love the golf course and the restaurant is nice, but the food is not so great. I ordered a German sausage meal and it came with a sausage and a fancy cut zweigles hot dog with warm potatoes that was supposed to be authentic German potato salad. When I mentioned that I literally was served a hot dog I was told it wasn’t. It was the most expensive hot dog plate I’d ever not eaten. They need to do better in the kitchen.

A beautiful space with lots of potential. I officiated a wedding there. The indoor remodel (new paint, carpet and chairs?) in the last few years was nice. Most of the staff was helpful. Unfortunately there was no electricity in the ceremony area. After asking multiple employees for help someone finally got me an extension cord. The pond could use some maintenance. No bottled water for sale. However, still good potential and the event went well after a few challenges.

I ordered a New York strip steak medium rare which was served medium rare. A friend also ordered a New York strip steak medium rare and got it well done. The temperature of the steaks served were room temperature which was an issue. The steaks had lots of gristle. They were served with 1 tablespoon of mashed potatoes and 3 green beans. Portions of these 2 sides was tiny. We were here for a dinner reception. Servers roaming the room had chicken on skewers that were cold, dry and overcooked. The food was disappointing. The bar and drinks served were fantastic. My rating would be lower due to poor food quality, but the facility, outdoor areas and bar brought it up higher.

In for lunch, friendly staff. The food was ok, but we really expected it to be better tasting and quality for the price and location. Pictured are the chicken poblano wrap and the california reuben- both were somewhat bland and disappointing. French fries were good, sweet potato fries were a little burned but still good. Our server was very friendly, but didn't anticipate our needs as well as would be expected (ie plates for appetizers, refilling water glasses). All in all not the worst lunch

I always choose Shadow Lake for my birthday dinner. This year unfortunately it was a big disappointment. The service was painfully slow, we waited over 30 minutes just for drinks and were starving by the time the appetizers came out, which all arrived with a long wait between each order. Everything seemed to take forever. After dinner we were walking outside and had an employee yell at us from outside the restaurant all the way accros the lake that we were on the golf course - he was loud and it was embarrassing - he couldn't have walked over to tell us? All this just added to what was already a disappointing experience. We had visitors from out of town with us and had brought them to Shadow Lake thinking it would be a special event. We won't be returning.

They made the wrong menu. i didn’t notice on the invoice it said breakfast buffet vs brunch. So for $71/pp, we had omelettes with unlimited mimosa. Ryan was unprofessional about handling my request for 10% discount. This was a completely different menu- no chicken , salad , or pasta and only $5 less per person. And very importantly they need to CLEAN, the chairs, the bathroom sink, the pictures on the walls, and coffee carafes and signs.

I had the Oso Buco this evening, quite poor. Meat was not fresh not well seasoned and was very tough and stringy, very disappointing. While I have had good meals previously this unfortunately was not one of them.

This review is for the golf course only which charged fifty dollars for golf and cart on a sunday afternoon. The greens were shaggy and apparently had not been mowed in a couple days. The tees were hard as a rock and we lost several balls in the fairways as there are areas that are not mowed. When we finished around four o'clock, the bar was closed.

This review pertains only to my experience on this day, August 24, 2021. I have been a regular at Shadow Lake for years. Usually this place is a good and predictable public course in my neighborhood. Typically it is well run even in the face of a great deal of play in the summer. Today, however, was different because they were aerating the greens. I totally understand that doing so is a necessary part of running a golf course. However, I made my starting time two days before (online). And yet, I received no email or text to tell me the greens were being aerated and that our 18 holes would be the front nine twice on greens that were at best a "shadow" of what has been the norm at this course. I was nonetheless charged full price for the round (40$ on a weekday). I think that was unfair. Had I known about these conditions in advance I would certainly have booked elsewhere, or expected a discount. I would love to hear from an owner or manager about this issue.

Vent blowing cold air above us several elderly people were cold as well and told the staff and no one cared and joked as well saying tell them to drink and they will get warm unbelievable response especially these poor elderly men and women they showed no concern for so if you are thinking about planning a event there I would suggest you not after my review I was approached and told there looking out for others and actually several people left and sadly it was the talk by many people how cold it was it wasn’t just a vent it was the temperature it was very cold and getting angry and asking for the review to be taking down after you never did anything about it and the manger thought telling the bride and groom about our complaint and they are family and by no means by us being cold is any part there fault at all and if the manger felt the need to hurt them then she definitely does not belong in that position I mean who would judge family for being cold and shame on manager for trying to put a damper on there night because she chose not to do a thing about it. Saying your looking out for others when others work all is well terrible response , so can you imagine if you wanted to book an event there and you had a concern about something. The managers answer is on the bride and groom special special day. You decided that somebody and several people over an area or Friesen, because of the way it was blowing through the vent you thought your response to taking care of everybody being called is to tell the bride and groom do you think of satin the bride and groom is the perfect professional answer on the way to deal with this do you think they’re gonna be upset because of you telling them know they’re gonna be upset because you told them that their family and several Gaston, their friends as well were freezing shame on you to say something to them on there special day is not how you deal with a situation like that and I guarantee anybody else it reads this review will agree

I'm going to Shadow Lake tap grill for several years I went with some friends the Friday after Thanksgiving all the toilets in the bathroom are plugged up and there was no soap to wash your hands we ordered a Caesar salad it came the size of it was like a side salad and the piece of salmon was like it was cut in half I'm very disappointed will not go back for a long time I hope the management will look at these problems and take care of them because it is a beautiful place

The prices at the snack bar are absolutely ridiculous. It is not just them making a profit - it is gouging and greed. $ 7.75 for a hot dog, how much is that mark up? $3.50 for a bottle of water? They at the most pay not even $1 for a bottle. What per cent profit would that be? Too bad. It is a great course in good shape and a very nice venue. We went elsewhere and enjoyed food and couple drinks for a much more reasonable price.
