A wonderful stay in the Maremma. Our room was a family room with a small kitchenette attatched. The situation close to the harbour and bridge, and yet within walking distance of a great beach and restaurants was ideal. The restaurant for dinner was spectacular with a great variety of seafood, meats and vegetarian options. a different choice each night. Breakfast perfect with a spectacular view. Questa recensione si riferisce al solo ristorante: "L’indagine gastronomica di questo caldo agosto ci porta sul lago d’Orta e precisamente a Pettenasco. Qui, da anni, trova un posto di rilievo nel panorama alberghiero e gastronomico l’Approdo, un hotel e ristorante che nel tempo ha visto alti e bassi, cambiamenti di gestione e ammodernamenti che hanno portato sino ai giorni nostri questa struttura ricettiva polifunzionale. L’Approdo è adagiato proprio sulle rive del lago nelle cui acque si allunga per l’appunto un attracco per piccoli natanti e presso cui ferma il battello di linea. Nel complesso trovano posto anche campi da tennis, piscina ed altri servizi come vasca idromassaggio, solarium, ecc. Io e Watson ci dirigiamo risoluti verso l’ingresso del ristorante presso il quale abbiamo prenotato un tavolo per il pranzo di mezzogiorno. Il cortese personale ci accompagna ad un tavolo sulla terrazza coperta da ampie tende da sole, vincendo la nostra ritrosia a sistemazioni en plein air e per questo lo ringraziamo avendo trascorso il tempo del pranzo godendo i benefici di una splendida fresca giornata di sole in riva ad un placido lago d’Orta. Dopo pochi minuti ci viene fornito il menù e la carta dei vini; decidiamo per 2 menù degustazione. Si comincia con tapas di baccalà in pane panko, mousse di burrata, salsa delicata all'acciuga, lampone crispy per antipasto: saporiti senza essere impegnativi; si prosegue con tagliatelle al nero di seppia, salsa e cozze: le tagliatelle sono già preparate con il nero di seppia nell’impasto e non con il nero fresco! Che delusione! Comunque si lasciano mangiare. Come secondo, anche questo a base di pesce, ci viene servito del gazpacho di pomodoro, anguria e cetriolo, trancio di rombo in crosta di aneto: non un gusto per tutti, ma interessante. Terminiamo con una cheesecake alla frutta: buona. Accompagnano il pranzo con una bottiglia di Vermentino dei colli di Luni etichetta nera ed una mezza bottiglia di erba luce con due caffè a conclusione del dolce. Un pranzo nel complesso discreto consumato in un ambiente rilassante con una vista spettacolare spendendo poco più di € 150 in due."

Ottima posizione sul lago, curato il giardino e la piscina, colazione buona con prodotti di qualità, invece scarsa pulizia nella camera un po' troppo veloce, il terrazzino fuori ad esempio non è mai stato pulito e il servizio molto lento del ristorante

Posizione incantevole con splendida vista sul lago e imbarcadero. Spazio all'aperto con molto verde e ben curato. Ampia piscina con vista lago. Comodo parcheggio. Non conosco le camere. Sono stato x un evento. Il cibo non è stato un granché ma il servizio è stato efficiente.

Ottimo servizio bar vasti spazi arredati all'aperto vicinissimo al centro abitato lo suggerisco a chi cerca relax offrendo anche campo tennis canoe pedalo' fermata traghetto per visita lago. L'Approdo è un Hotel a 4 stelle situato poco lontano da Orta San Giulio, nel comune di Pettenasco, dall'aspetto contemporaneo che promette una vista mozzafiato sul Lago d'Orta. E bisogna dirlo, entrando in stanza non si rimane delusi: se si sceglie la vista lago, la veduta è veramente deliziosa, soprattutto al tramonto. I problemi cominciano però entrando nella stanza: il localino ha un aspetto un po' "trascurato", con un livello di pulizia sufficiente, puntellato da muri da rinfrescare, un bel po' di polvere ed un letto che più duro non si può. Se a casa siete abituati a dormire sul morbido, preparatevi a passare una notte insonne! La colazione, punto forte delle permanenza in Hotel, compensa per bene, ma solo in parte, le mancanze della stanza. Grande la varietà di prodotti, senza scadere eccessivamente nel confezionato. Un buon mix che accontenta tutti. Per l'offerta, il prezzo ci può stare, ma se si vuole un 4* a tutto tondo, forse non è il punto giusto.

We stayed here for a few nights Positives: + very beatifull rooms +'some' ppl at the reception are very friendly + breakfast is ok for italian standards +amazing sights. I do recomend taking a room with lake side view +good location... even a dock for the boat tour. +delicious coffee in the morning We would love to give this hotel a 5 star review due to its amazing rooms but there are a few issues that require improvements: - as pointed above, not all receptionist staff is friendly. The blonde women around 40 plus was kind of rude to our small son because he inserted pebbles in a grid. The grid is removable and we could easily remove them so we dont see the problem in this issue... -breakfast is ok but its always the same... no variations what so ever. - prices of diner a la carte is very high. 8 euros for a glass of housewine? Then again yes, it was a good wine. - room from the bathroom to living room is a step up and its dangerous to slip out on the wooden floor... Will we come back? Probably yes, if its in last minute 😉.

It’s a lovely location and has all the amenities. The front desk was friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a nice view. The breakfast was very good. The pool snack bar was nice and we really enjoyed the server there. He was very friendly and helpful. And like he could speak English. He made us feel very welcome. The rooms. Well they are dated. The plus is you have a great balcony and large slider with beautiful view. The bad. The patio furniture is very uncomfortable as was the bed. A hard old mattress. The bathroom Ok but older. It was very clean. So that was a plus. But the rooms could use an update. But for the location we enjoyed it.

Hotel molto curato, zona bar esterna meravigliosa! Ristorante veramente ottimo. Servizio dell'hotel un po' lento, appena arrivati ci hanno accompagnato in camera ma mancavano gli asciugamani, siccome volevamo sistemarci prima di scendere in piscina avevamo una certa fretta. Abbiamo dovuto chiamare 4 volte in reception e attendere 40 minuti. Ad ogni modo il lungo lago è spettacolare, e il bagno è stato piacevole. Bel soggiorno, a parte qualche mancanza.

Ho soggiornato domenica 8 settembre su lunedì Per essere un hotel 4 stelle piuttosto deludente . Facendo la doccia entrava acqua in camera da letto . Odore piuttosto sgradevole in camera . Chiudendo il box doccia (di vetro ) mi è caduto addosso . Il mio compagno ha dovuto appoggiarlo al muro . Hotel is not bad but I cannot confirm the high rating. What we liked: - Mostly nice staff - Well located by the lake - Breakfast good for Italian hotels - The bed was comfortable What we did not like: - Infrastructure outdated - Air conditioning was defective and could not be switched on and off normally, staff could not repair it and I had to remove the fuse every time. Then it started running at full power in the middle of the night and could not be switched off again with the former method. Bad experience. - Room key didn't function properly - Cleaning ladies could not get into the room because the card was defective, by chance I came back to the room in the afternoon and was able to intervene at reception. - We wanted to check out an hour later, which was denied because new guests were already arriving. That tells me that this room is simply being offered with a defective air conditioning and door and nobody really cares. When we wanted to wait an hour at the pool, reception wanted to charge us an extra 15 euros per person. After complaining and describing the bad night with the air conditioning, we were allowed to wait at the pool for free, but this moment still prompted me to write the review, even though I rarely write them.

This hotel has the potential to be amazing as it is in such a glorious location however the actual hotel itself is a real let down. It is incredibly dark inside and the decor is very old fashioned. The breakfast room is very dated and with no view of the lake at all. Breakfast itself was very disappointing. poor choice and what was on offer wasn’t very nice. The beds were incredibly hard- sleeping was quite difficult!! This hotel needs completely renovating or knocking down and a new one being built altogether! Abbiamo soggiornato in questo albergo per 3 notti con i nostri 2 bambini. Abbiamo preso la stanza che affaccia sul lago. La vista è molto bella, la stanza ha il soffitto alto con travi a vista, che però di notte scricchiolano inspiegabilmente. Il primo giorno abbiamo ucciso un ragno e dopo le "pulizie" era ancora lì per terra. Nel bagno c'è una vasca con la parete di vetro per consentire la doccia, ma non regge la guarnizione per cui si allaga il bagno (tant'è vero che la porta sotto è tutta gonfiata e rovinata). La colazione può migliorare: il pane non è sempre fresco, così come la frutta (le banane non erano ammaccate solo l'ultima mattina). Ciò che ci ha notevolmente stupiti è stata l'assenza di un frigobar all'interno della stanza. Abbiamo segnalato la mancanza alla reception, che prima ha insistito che in realtà c'era, poi ha constatato che invece no, non c'era e ci ha detto che se ne sarebbero occupati. Sono passati 2 giorni e nessuna notizia. Al momento del checkout ho fatto presente che la cosa ci aveva dato del disagio, perché dovevo mettere in frigo gli affettati per i panini ma non avevo potuto. La ragazza mi ha detto che avrebbero voluto dirci di usare il loro frigo, ma se n'erano dimenticati. Requisito per un 4 stelle è la presenza di un frigobar: il prezzo è da 4 stelle, il servizio decisamente no. Non torneremo

Stayed for 1 night at this so called 4-star hotel. We were put at the room that faced the restaurant. And apprently they had a wedding for the whole day and night. So the music was loud from mid day to midnight! When we slightly complained about how did they not notify us about this, their hospitality did not reflect 4 star hotel at all!! Just simply said "unfortunately that happened when there is this kind of event". Dude! For a 4 star hotel, a simple gesture apologize for the trouble there was, would be a minimum standard! Or at least that what I am used to. They are pretty rude. And when I reviewed them in the platform where I booked them from, they replied me that their hospitality has been the one that most people appreciated 😂 well, looking at the reviews here, lots of people reviewed them bad 👎🏽

They give no-window room like a basement which is no WiFi and bad facility. You need to pay extra to upgrade to the lake view. Old facilities but good view. Swimming pool is dirty and cold, can’t swim.

Feel like I have walked in to a retirement home. Hotel is very basic and only reason I can see it is 4 star is due to a few extra amenities such as a tennis court and pool. Staff seem too corporate and don't get a warm heart felt welcome. Room is small, beds are uncomfortable, bathroom stinks of drains, you need binoculars to watch the tv as its tiny, shower gel etc provided is poor quality. Breakfast had a large variety but again poor quality. Eggs just left in a hot plate and not fresh. Other foods tasteless. Would really not recommend... look around there are far better 3 star hotels in the area that offer far more. Overall very disappointing!

Beautiful location and hotel was clean and beds comfortable,we was part of a titan tour group visiting for the week. The problem was the restaurant staff mainly the older gentlemen was very rude and clearly did not really want us there, food was hit and miss and for 3 nights we was put in breakfast room for evening meals because of three weddings, when you asked for anything you was made to feel a nuisance. For three days we could hear the music in our room from all the weddings and on one day they even had another party going on in gardens too. The hotel clearly is more of a hotel for locals so really should not take on groups if it can’t cope with them and catering staff resent them. The best thing though was our tour leader Heather who was amazing even when she was dealing with complaints from other tour guests.

We stayed 2 night in this hotel and I can tell you I won’t go there again. The hotel is not worth 4 stars… only because of the location et the tennis court and swimming pool i would give it 2 stars. Beds are horrible, pillows even worse, gives you back pain. The bathroom, you can’t take hot showers with out burning yourself. The hairdryer wasn’t working, we had to ask 2 times to get a replacement. The breakfast was not good, it seems nothing was home made… Moreover, our room were right in front off the pool so you get no privacy at all. At the end they didn’t even ask if your stay was pleasant or not. I would recommend to find an other hotel. For 200€ per night i’m sure you’ll find something better. Here is the view so you see why the 2 stars.

The staff were all very nice and professional. Unfortunately, the building is badly in need of remodel and repair. The lights in the hallway to our room were broken or off so the hallway was nearly black. The room was dingy - smelled meh, couch upholstery had many small tears, and bed was flimsy. We left about an hour after we checked in after finding a much better hotel less than ten minutes away (we still paid for this hotel as per our initial agreement). Overall impression is that someone owns some land on lake Orta and they know people will pay to stay there no matter the quality of the rooms. I feel the rooms are worth about $75 per night and their listed prices are a bit of a scam - would not book again.

Mi dispiace per scrivere una recensione negativa ma : abbiamo prenotato 2 stanze in questo albergo . La prima era una stanza ristrutturata bella , invece la seconda un disastro totale. Stanza piena di muffa con perdite di acqua . L’acqua usciva dalle piastrelle ma anche dai muri. Il balcone/terrazza ( piano terra vista lago ) pieno di acqua e ragnatele. Una pessima esperienza direi . Colazione varia salato/dolce , personale cordiale e disponibile . Qualche stellina l’ho toglierei. Perché tu fai presente il problema e loro ti prendono in giro . Alla sera vengono ad asciugare il pavimento d’acqua invece al check-out fanno finta di non sapere nulla ( credo che la perdita non è da oggi / ieri visto la muffa in stazza ).

Extremely rude and completely incomprehensible! We wanted to have dinner here today at 8:30 PM, without a reservation. Despite there being around nine empty tables outside (not even set – see photo), the staff turned us away rather brusquely, claiming the restaurant was full. Even when we asked again, nothing changed – we felt clearly unwelcome for no apparent reason. The condescending and unfriendly attitude of the staff was especially disappointing. 8:30 PM is a perfectly normal dinner time in Italy – and the number of unset, empty tables completely contradicted their excuse. This was an unacceptable experience. We will never return.

I don’t enjoy leaving negative reviews but after spending a few incredible nights in a 5* hotel further up in Lake Orta, I was shocked that L’Approdo was granted 4* and felt I’d been sold a different hotel from the pictures. An incredibly disappointing stay and overpriced. The hotel overall was incredibly dated and quite frankly falling apart. The room while a lovely view was uncomfortable and very dated amenities and a delapidated bathroom. Breakfast felt like I was risking myself to food poisoning and the pool/lake area was in need of a serious upgrade. The hotel is in a stunning location but I really hope this place can be saved and have a full renovation and more welcoming staff. Until then recommend an Airbnb in Orta San Giulio.

This is a terrible hotel and most of the 4 and 5 star reviews are fake. We stayed there in early June 2024 and would never stay there again. We recently stayed at this hotel on a Titan/Saga holiday. Heather was a good rep and all the Italian road transport and boat trips were very good. However, it would have been helpful to have a daily information sheet listing times and meeting places for all events. These could have been posted on a hotel notice board or better still delivered to each room or at supper as there was much confusion and Chinese whispers amongst guests. Unfortunately the same cannot be said about Hotel L'Approdo. It is certainly not up to 4-star status and we would not stay there again. Our room 308 had air conditioning fixed throughout our stay at 27/28 degrees centigrade which made sleeping very difficult and nothing was done to rectify this despite many complaints to reception and the hotel manager. Other problems with the room was that the key card did not work on many occasions necessitating frequent trips down to reception. Fortunately, we were given a metal key half way through the holiday which did work. The room was dangerously poorly lit with all lights on. It was very hard to read and dangerous to use the kettle which was in the darkest part of the room. The shower was so dangerous that we only used it once. It was highly slippery especially when using soap and there were no grab handles. The cover to the shower drain was also a trip hazard. One could easily have fallen and broken some bones. There was no bath. More minor irritations were that the tea, coffee etc packs were seldom restocked but fortunately we had brought our own together with a torch which was invaluable for finding things and pouring boiling water safely. The lighting in the bathroom was very poor and I didn't shave for the last two days as one of the lights had failed and I cut myself badly. On the subject of Health and Safety, there should be a handrail connecting the room opposite reception to the garden as many elderly people found this difficult. The concrete surround of the swimming pool had at least one dangerous crack on the side nearest to the hotel which could have caused tripping and injury. There were no depth markings making diving hazardous The service by staff was generally poor and the senior waiting staff were brusque and set a poor example to the young ones. The food was particularly disappointing. At breakfast and dinner hot food was invariably served on cold plates. Carrots and potatoes were hard - being half cooked. Some items were inedible. My partner is a fishetarian and when I saw the menu for the Piedmont Dinner I realised that most courses were meat. I went to reception and they assured me that vegetarian alternatives would be served. They were not. What turned up was very late and very poor quality and a vegetable burger which I sampled was inedible so my partner had very little to eat. We were pleased to leave the room as the meal had been so bad and was compounded by a male guitarist with an amplifier which made conversation impossible. The system for ordering supper courses by ticking a menu at breakfast did not work well as the waiters did not know what each diner had ordered. Likewise the system for paying for drinks at meal times. I and several others were overcharged on our final bills but thankfully these mistakes were quickly remedied by reception. During our stay, there were three weddings and other functions which overloaded the staff who could not give good service. On at least two of the weddings noisy fireworks were let off at night and in one case after 11 pm when most of us were trying to sleep. At L'Approdo all drinking water had to be bought which is most unusual for a 4 star hotel. Let me end on a lighter note and say that the hotel wifi, hot water supply and convenient landing stage in the garden for boats were all very good. The management needs a severe shake-up. Do not book. You have been warned.

This hotel is in a lovely place but needs serious work done on it. This is my third change of room. Beautiful view if I could open and close the balcony window. Even a very helpful member of staff struggled. Safe didn't work battery was dead.. Also Titan had not told everyone that there was a charge for a lake view. Was really looking forward to this holiday. Tried to get a flight home today. My experiences have improved by the wonderful view. However today I have met most possibly the rudest Hotel manager I have ever spoken to. When querying the bill she told me to be quiet. Even though she had to admit I was correct. A complaint will be going into Titan about this.
