Absolutely amazing! From the ambiance, to the service, the drinks, and the food. The entire dinner we had was lovely. The cheese plate had an abundance of cheese and was not skimpy like many cheese plates. The monkey bread was delicious and sweet (although they could have added a bit more goat cheese inside). Those lemon roasted potatoes were to die for. Our server, I think his name was Kevin, was friendly, knowledgeable, and let us take our time with everything. We weren’t rushed. Perfect date night. Highly recommend.
The service and the food were excellent. My server gave me wonderful suggestions. It was a lovely visit and very delicious.
The lamb was so delicious and amazing. It's a cute, intimate spot. Loved the location and feel of the place. Had the lamb, ribs and donuts for dessert.
AMAZING!!!!! simply the best bar in Philadelphia. I had a wonderful afternoon with my friend in this bar. It has good drinks, good music, lots of beautiful people. I loved this bar and I will definitely come back every time I'm in Philadelphia. I have already recommended it to all my friends who live in Boston, New York, New Jersey, Miami, Los Angeles and Brazil. Philadelphia is an amazing city and has great bars.
Great food, good staff, ambiance missed pic of Apple philo w/ice cream $$$ except in restaurant week dinner $35 per person do not miss it🥇🌟🔥
Beautiful decor, nice n intimate. Thr food was really good ,service great.
Great decor and vibe and fantastic food.
Great place, cool bartender. *almost* a speakeasy- go through the restaurant or the alley-boom! Nice backyard.
Smaller portions, but fresh ingredients and unique combinations!
Opa is always great, whether stopping in for a drink or a full meal. They have a very respectable drink menu with several signature cocktails, beers on tap, and wines. The food menu offers a range for all tastes, including some meals that can be made vegetarian or vegan. Go in the summer and you can enjoy their beer garden which has seating and an array of boardgames, ping pong, and giant Jenga. The staff here is friendly and helpful and the restaurant is always clean. Additionally, the restaurant is beautiful and perfectly decorated. Last but not least, Opa takes both cash and charge.
Beautiful setting and atmosphere. My friends and I attended for Restaurant Week and were very happy with this choice. Small plates that were just enough, with some to take home. The staff was very pleasant. I will definitely return for happy hour after work. Hidden Gem!
As a Greek I can vouch for the authenticity of the food here. It's fresh, tasty, and elegant displayed. I particularly like the Greek wine list. Service was punctual. The beer garden on the back is a hidden gem. I'd come back again and again.
Wanted to say how awesome this place is. Definitely a place to visit if coming to philly. The Music is great and the best part is you get to choose your own music as well!! Always a good place to go hang out at and catch a couple drinks with friends. The bartender Joe made it the best experience there though, definitely check it out if you can.
This was part of my birthday weekend celebration. It was the great start of a great evening. This is a tapas style service. Our server suggested 4 to 5 items. We were famished. My date and I did four selections. Too much food. We could have stopped at three. The food was great as well as the service. I was tempted to deduct a star because of the arrangement of the tables and the bar people were almost on top of me. Suggest you take a table at the rear to avoid someone's butt brushing against your shoulder.
his was fun, quick pit stop while bar hopping. We ordered a drink at the main bar and then made our way back outside to the patio that had another bar and picnic benches. There's an outside smoking area and lots of room to run around and dance..
This place is an absolute hidden gem In the gaybarhood. Joe made us feel like the most valuable and valid customer. One top of letting you pick the music , the vibe they have is incredible with great beers on tap. Come here and you won’t be let down 🔥
Such a fun atmosphere to drink outside. We had bartender Joe for my friends birthday. He let us play our own music, made the day enjoyable and even accommodating when it started to rain. Such a fun experience!!!
Wow! Seriously, what a great surprise! We felt like Greek food and Opa came up on our search, so we tried it. We were a little put off at first by the "nightclub" atmosphere because we thought we were going to a restaurant,,,but we stuck it out,,,,and we are all the better for it! Seriously, some of the best dishes I have had in a while. The chef knows what he is doing! The fingerling potatoes were cooked perfectly, the fish delicious, the macaroni a step up from what you might expect, and my favorite was the blackened octopus! I haven't had octopus this good in the States. The last time I tasted something like this was in Greece. Thank you Opa! You not only surprised me , but you really escalated the Philly food scene for me.
I went to Opa around 9pm on a Friday. The drink selection was good, and the bartenders were attentive. Around 11pm they switched to late night and brought out a DJ, encouraging more people to stop in and giving it a different vibe. I recommend the Mouro drink, it was delicious!
Here's my story. We sat down at El Vez, looked around and decided to go to Opa instead. We ordered cocktails, each of which were tasty and adequately strong, although maybe overpriced. We ordered our lunch priced at $14 for a sandwich and 2 small plates each. All was beyond delicious!! I can't wait to try this place again. We kept talking about how satisfied we were the whole day. Loved it.
Great happy hour here. We had an awesome time playing games under the heaters. The fra1ppe drink special was refreshing. They also had a good beer list. The food came out piping hot and delicious. The pretzel was good. I wish there had been a few more oregano fries cause they were so good. The spinach croquettes had a lot of flavor. I would def go again. It was such a chill spot.
Solid Greek tapas! Great place for a group who wants to share multiple plates of greatness. Everything is rich in flavor and the spice cake with the orange icing was amazing. The cake could stand alone but the icing put it over the top.
Had a great time. The bar had done some interesting interior. The vibes weee amazing. We sat in backyard which is a new addition to Opa. Amazing decor and styling. We had some good cocktails there like peach lit, gin and tonic and beers. Sone hours sitting and having a great time. Good to try for a walk-in with large group even on busy days. The only reason I removed a point is because the fries weee not crispy and loaded fries were not so good either. But amazing to have it the location and keep it in back pocket if I want to go for just drinks. Especially if I have a large group, the back portion is amazing if weather permits.
The food was tasty and affordable. Great place for small plates and nice drink menu. During the summer months, they have outdoor seating and windows in the front that create an open atmosphere.
Please like if this review helps😁!! Great lil spot for drinks. This place required vaccination verification for entrance which was fine with me and the crew I was with. Visited this spot when I was in Philly for the Rocky Run Half Marathon. Atmosphere was very welcoming, bartenders were very attentive and the drinks were great and the bartenders made some great recommendations on the fly.. Great spot!
Delish option for happy hour! Try the flaming cheese and the octopus meatballs. The koukla drink is on special for $8 during happy hour and is always delicious
Loved this spot! Great games on table, amazing local draft beer selection, heated patio. Food from Opa kitchen (lamb gyro, chicken gyro) was disappointing.
So much fun! Great music and drinks . Food was decent but I only ordered cheese sticks
I came here for sips and it was really crowded. And since its a small place surrounded by tall buildings it made it very hot . The drinks and food are great though, just wouldnt recommend coming here for sips.
Great outdoor space. Good HH drink specials, but the food specials are pretty laughable (except the $3 burger).
Staffs are very friendly and food is great, but food size is small and a little pricey
My co-workers and I stumbled on to Opa because every where else was packed in the area. We arrived around 6pm on Friday. It was the only place that was practically empty. The decor was nice but it was so quiet and empty we didn't know what to expect. the staff was very friendly and waited on us immediately. The drinks were good and not watered down. We all LOVED the fries! The sauce was delicious. Even after the fries were gone I scraped the plate of any left over sauce. We had a really good time. My only complaint was that they need more upbeat music during Happy Hour and the metal bar stools. I loved the height of them but very uncomfortable. They hurt your bottom. If they make it feel more Happy and get better seats it would be packed like all the other places around 13th and Samson.
Two couples, early Saturday evening on the first weekend of the city's St. Patty's Day craziness. The menu is a nice selection of Greek small plates, gyros, salads, etc. with a couple of large plate options, and even a Chef's choice variety (whole table only) and a wine pairing option. We shared a few starters and each had two other selections. They delivered something every couple of minutes, but not to the point where we felt rushed. Everything was excellent. They have a nice cocktail/wine/beer (bottles and cans) menu as well as a separate draft beer menu. It's a standard Philly store-front sized open area with tables surrounding a bar. It was a bit loud, but not so loud as to be off-putting, especially considering the time of day. All in all, a well recommended establishment.
This was a neat place, although I am not much on Greek food, all folks in our group enjoyed themselves, moderate to high price , food rated by group as good to great. All food was appetizer size portions and ment to be shared by all but very fast to come out and served. Definitely a good stop for an evening out. Excellent service, food was explained, sorry not many pictures because of dark setting.
Solid Greek establishment with a nice bar-type feel since the bar tends to be the focal point of the dining environment at Opa (not a bad thing, IMHO). Had three "small plates" and called it dinner. The octopus plate was good, if not spectacular. Also had a barbecue rib plate that was quite tasty with a touch of sweetness I don't generally expect from BBQ, but it worked. The saganaki... one of the best I have ever had! Don't miss it if you are gonna be dining at Opa!
Donuts are very good. Worth the 20 min wait. Chianti is good too. Our server was great, and the lamb gyro was good. My only complaint is that you can't get things with the ensalata without onions. The ensalata is premixed.
The lively vibe and modern décor make this spot perfect for catching up with friends over drinks. Their Greek dishes are fresh and flavorful, and the bar staff really know their cocktails. Can’t wait for my next visit!
Ordered a steak, and that's literally what I got. Small in portion, no sides, mediocre cook, disappointing flavor, not worth the price. There are some redeeming menu items, depending on your interests (typically beer options). But, if you want jacked up, "authentic (Wine & Spirits variety) Greek cocktails"... Opa is your place
Very small! Not really a beer garden... Just a small outdoor space behind the Opa restaurant where beer is served. I came with a large group (maybe 8, 9 people) and there wasn't enough space for us to sit together. I didn't consume anything, this rating is for the "beer garden" that really isn't.
I went w a friend after a long day just to share a bite and a few drinks. The service was kinda crazy..A few different people behind the bar were taking my orders and getting confused because it was too many people trying to do the same thing.. when I went to pay they do not have tap to pay option or an in store ATM which I prefer either. I asked them to split the total on 2 cards both which had over the amount & he tried my bank card 1st and kept saying it was declined..it was sending me messages and I told himi had fraud alert on my account and I needed to verify charge. He kept running it and locked my card, which had funds. I was showing them on my app. They were so rude. I gave another card for half which it covered . Then I had to use another card but it wouldn't run as credit for some reason. I'm pretty sure they didn't know what they were doing. They kept that card and refused to give it back. I had to call my bank and unlock my card and because it was frozen I had to wait 7 days for a new card in mail...then had to call the bank where they kept my card & report it stolen & also wait for a new card in the mail...the most unprofessional and rude service ever...Do not recommend this place at all, unless you bring and pay cash.. the sandwich and fries were pretty good...I really wanted to like this place🤔
The overall experience was good. The atmosphere of the restaurant is modern and fun but with Greek influences. It has a really large bar area so if you're going just for a few drinks, there's plenty of seating. Food was nothing special, but it also was not bad. The biggest issue was with our waitress. Our waitress seemed annoyed that we were even there, and frustrated that we didnt order alcohol with our dinner. For the rest of our dining experience, she made little effort to come to our table and check on us. We ran out of water multiple times and had to ask for more. Although, anyone else who brought food to the table or cleared dishes away was very polite and friendly.
I love opa and went there for years. I visited the other day and had their food. It has always been delicious however, it seems like they are lacking the options that they previously had. My friend is a pescatarian and did not feel she had enough options. She requested shrimp tacos but they were not available. I also brought a little one with me who wanted more kid options like chicken fingers but we stuck with the pizza. We also wanted to try the tzatziki, spicy feta and hummus but that was also not an option for all three. Again, love the place but more food options for vegetarians and some a few more entrees would be great.
Let me start by saying the service was excellent from Hosts to server. That said, the food left much to be desired. I don't have specifics to say about any one dish which is to say it just wasn't memorable. Nothing wowed me or made me want more. I wished more for this place, it's too bad it didn't stand out more.
Came in with my wife and sat down at one of 11 open tables (only 2 were occupied) and was asked to leave by the waitress who claimed all tables were reserved. We then waited at the bar, which was not that busy, for 25 minutes (5pm until 525pm) and were not able to put a drink order in. The two bartenders were making drinks at a snails pace while one of them continuously told everyone it was his birthday, without asking them what their drink order was. WTH is going on in this place?
I use to love going to DBG but this past Wednesday I had a terrible experience at SIPS. We waited in line for TWO hours as the security guards continued to ignore us. They claimed to be at full capacity but looking through the window you could see that the place was empty. I don’t know what the purpose of keeping paying customers outside was but I will not be coming back again.
Ableist. Disrespectful to gender identity even though they are in the Gayborhood. I go to the Gayborhood to find a safe space. I was forcefully and aggressively escorted out of the men’s bathroom and told i did not belong by this bouncer. (Pic attached). He also aggressively grabbed my two friends who were accompanying me. My one friend was a woman who has Type 1 Diabetes. Her sugar was high, and she could not use the women’s bathroom due to a long wait. The men came in and grabbed her out of the bathroom, but then commented that she was beautiful (misogynistic) .
We went to Drury Beer Garden yesterday for drinks and appetizers, a few people from our group had to return because they forgot to close out their tab. When we returned they were very busy leading us to stand in a awkward spot at the entry of the bar. Our waitress servicing our table was kind and helpful. However, the bartender was a different story. She was incredibly rude. We waited almost 30 minutes for her to come over to us so we can close out our tab. She was servicing every part of the bar except us. Since she was taking so long I tried to order another drink through our waitress who serviced our table as she happened to be passing through the bar area. However, she told me to order through the bartender. Again, the bartender proceeded to ignore us and was servicing a party directly next to us. The party couldn’t figure out what they wanted, so while the bartender was waiting on them, I tried to get her attention and tapped her on the shoulder. She responds back “Do not touch me, I don’t like to be touched!” which led to a brief back and forth then we decided to leave. Just as FYI the bartender is very rude and nasty as I’ve seen other people post in their reviews. The food and drink were good and the overall vibe of the beer garden is nice.
Had an ok experience, the people who work there are nice. But I did not realize I was overcharged for a cocktail I did not purchase until the next day. Called and told them about the issue as soon as I noticed, got a call back the following day. They could not refund my money nor did they offer a small gift card for the future. I will not be returning as they made no effort to take responsibility for their mistake. I was really disappointed.
Condescending treatment and inaccessible. The management is rude and unresponsive to customer complaints. I submitted a formal complaint by email and then called the manager. My request was to ask for recourse whenever the bouncers at DBG might again give me a hard time about my ID being fake although I’m well over 21. I asked if he could help ensure that I would not be denied entry on the basis of age. He angrily yelled that he can deny anyone for whatever reason and that I shouldn’t come back if I don’t like it there. He then hung up the phone. Because the management is unwilling to help me access this venue I’m rating it a 1.
A few friends and I went in yesterday, the 3rd of July and the female bartender working was one of the rudest people I have ever met. She did not seem to know how to make fairly simple cocktails and just had a terrible attitude towards everyone in the bar. We did not have any food or interact with any other employees. However, based on this employee alone I felt the need to leave my first review of any bar/restaurant ever.
