Opinions de Blue Angel Diner Plainview
SUPERB food at one of the last true diners in Plainview, Long Island. Plenty of parking and easy to find---across from the library.
My favorite local diner. Good breakfast choices. Dinner specials include soup and salad, entree, potato, vegetable, dessert and beverage.
One of the best diners around. Service, value is outstanding. Mostly here for breakfast.
Breakfast was delicious. Place was very clean. Highly recommend this diner.
Fantastic service and good. Staff was great to my kid.
Delicious & friendly service on top of it! Severely lacking lately in this country so quite a welcome change!
Great place for diner type food with class. Very nice people as well.
Amazing service and quality food at good prices. A total value play. My wife and I enjoyed dinner here last night and brought home enough food for another meal!
Our go to spot every Sunday! Great diner, friendly staff and tons of food options
This is a good diner. The food has actually improved in the last 3 months. It wasn't bad before but it's even better now. The waitstaff is great and food comes fast.
My family loves the salad. My best thing I like on their valuable menu is the buffalo chicken rap with extra hot sauce. They do have good seafood bisque
Good food and quick service. No complaints.
There are new owners of this local dinner and they have done a great job improving all aspects of the dinner. Would highly recommend it.
Went in for a quick dinner, staff were very welcoming, food came out fast and was very good.
Perfect NY diner Fast service Amazing Reuben
Great place for lunch. Their specials include soup, entree, beverage and dessert. You leave very full. I reccomend the pita pizza with mushrooms. Delicious
The food and the service was awesome. The new management is doing a wonderful job. Highly recommended.
I eat breakfast at Blue Angel, regularly. That's because everything I order is consistently good and the service is attentive and caring. Pricing is very reasonable, as well.
Love their food, they have lots of varieties to choose from, and the service is very awesome. Good customer service
Meals prepared fresh and beautifuly. Great service...small in size compared to other diners. Its like a store in the shopping center.
Great food, excellent service. Highly recommend.
The new management is doing a very good job. The food is very good.
We decided to try this place for breakfast while in town and it was delicious. The portion size were big and serve was quick. Staff was friendly. And the diner was very clean.
Started coming here for lunch during our open house. Definitely packed on a sunday around noon. Food is tasty, service is fast, staff is very friendly to toddlers. They have the old school breaded onion rings that I really miss.
Girlfriend brought home a Greek salad with chicken souvlaki today. Tasted better then any Greek place I have ever tried. She said the service was great and I can't wait to dine in myself.
I grew up going to this diner. And visiting it for the first time in over 7 years it felt like being home again. Great selection of breakfast specials (which I wasn't sure was still a thing these days). Coffee is fresh and social distancing was enacted well. It also seems like the diner got to do some self care and get new tables. They look great!
The food and service here is excellent. My wife and I love grabbing a burger here.
It's very nice that they allow us four women to hang out for our meeting and they're very patient with our food requests. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced
Went for lunch with my wife and two of my grandchildren along with my son in law. My daughter was visiting friends. My granddaughter, who is about 6 months old was a big hit. Food was good and the menu contains everything that you expect in a diner.
We All ate different things, Santa fe salad was outrageous, French dip was delicious, grilled cheese was good, good prices, nice portions and very friendly professional staff that was attentive but not hovering. Will definitely go back
I love the food here & I’m a regular, but due to Covid-19 hadn’t been in months. I ate here again because they had outdoor seating & forgot how delicious the food was again! I’m a picky eater in general & great cook, but the food here is always so good! I can’t wait to eat here again soon! It’s one of my favorite restaurants in the area.
Consistently great food and service. They make amazing egg sandwiches and omelettes. Their burgers and soups are excellent.
Lovely local diner with good food and excellent service.
The stuff is extremely kind the store is extremely clean. I visit a lot of restaurants being a restaurant manager and restaurant rescue and delivery driver. Something I noticed immediately was that they cleaned they copy machine properly. The bus person is constantly aware of the entire dining area wiping down and cleaning up after everybody. The food seem to be extremely fresh and prepared exactly the way I requested. Which came with a side of coleslaw and a pickle all items were fresh. My waitress also noticed immediately when my coffee was empty and refilled it right on the spot. If you are in the area I highly recommend this place.
I came here a few days ago for a nice dinner with my fiancé and his family. We were greeted right away and we were able to sit immediately. The service was fantastic, they kept offering his mom more coffee when she was running low. All of our food was delicious and cooked perfectly. It was my first experience after hearing such great things and I'm glad we chose to come here because it's amazing! We'll definitely be coming back soon
It’s a diner with great food. Wonderful lunch specials. Fabulous diner basics too like omelets. A good place to eat when your hungry.
Awesome place. Small almost a family style diner. No complaints from me...
Food is fresh and service is great. The place is clean and welcoming
One of our favorite diners in the area. It is often out go to place. But it’s good, and about average in price. Service is always decent.
Blue angel is my favorite breakfast diner. I go there with my son occasionally and it's always good. They seem to have stopped their breakfast specials menu on the weekend but I do enjoy their coffee and quick service.
We went on a Monday mid-day for brunch as a group of 5. We hadn't made reservations, but they quickly accommodated our party by putting two tables together. Staff was friendly & efficient. My husband & I split the corned beef Reuben. It was meaty and the bread was grilled to crispy perfection! They prepared it open-faced, already split to seperate plates. We might have preferred it closed and just cut in two, but no biggie. Not sure exactly what our family members ordered, but everyone seemed happy with their food. This was on an out-of-town trip in a town we probably won't visit again, so it's unlikely we'll return. But if we're ever nearby again, we would choose the Blue Angel. Highly recommended!
Nostalgic & reminiscent of a bygone era where families gathered at dinners. The food was excellent. It's not greasy & not overly seasoned. It's a quiet corner, and you'd have to look for it to know it's there. In the picture are the 2 eggs cooked anyway with corned beef and potato hash; deluxe cheeseburger with onion rings. Delicious and will add it to my go-to places for lunch.
Really great diner! I was shocked it was as good as it was actually. The food took a slightly long time to come out but they were very very busy. We had corned beef hash and an omelette and pancakes! Everything was amazing and their home fries are amazing. Coffee was good.
Wow...was visiting family and tried this diner. Had the Turkey dinner...it was amazing. Tender turkey, moist and flavorful. The gravy was perfect. The veggies were great. I ordered a baked sweet potato...it was HUGE...cooked perfectly and so sweet. Here is the most amazing part. I was watching one of the waiters getting, what I thought was hot water for tea...no...he filled the cup with hot water to warm it up before filling it with coffee...now THAT'S service. The staff was so helpful and friendly too..I will definitely be back!!!
Just a lovely family owned dinner type restaurant. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is very good food. They are reasonably priced and they keep the place very clean. Staff was prompt with service and very friendly. Best prices around and good size servings. I recommend you try it. You will go back again.
Good portions, good food, great people. A little pricey for lunch, but you definitely get your money's worth in portion size.
Great little diner, nice fast service
A small diner, the huge portions and good service keep us coming back. Salads are so big, they're 2 meals.
Very nice place, clean, friendly service. Delicious breakfast. Hidden gem for sure.
This is one of my favorite diners!
With other diners, in the area, closing, or cutting down on their offerings, Blue Angel becomes viable for us. Had the corned beef hash and eggs breakfast. Asked for the hash to be cooked sort of well done. Was cooked perfectly
Enjoyed our meals but had to ask for some items a few times before we got them.
Great place for breakfast and lunch. I've been there many times. New owners... still good
Great local diner with quick service and affordable prices
Excellent menu - great service - we need to keep diners patronized.
Small but nice
Food is good. Decent amounts of food. The service was very friendly.
It’s hit and miss. Sometimes it’s great and other times not so great. Stick with the basic food items. Everyone is very nice and the prices are decent.
This diner is good. The worst thing about it is the parking lot. I had a lunch special which included dessert, beverage and soup or salad for $13.95. I had a grilled chicken with grilled vegetables, mozerella cheese on a pita. It was delicious and I ask for tziki sauce on the side to dip my chicken in. The servers are very nice. I have been going here for years and the food is still great and so is the service.
Really great bread basket to start with and complimentary beers! Menu is cooked to order and place is extremely clean. Done go to the diner half block down as it cant compete so be sure to stop here.
Food is great and big portions as usual in a diner. The place is quite clean, although is not that big of a places The service is so good and nice
best coleslaw. no coke. pepsi. (this is bad) no gluten free hamburger buns good prices. good food
Decent typical diner food. Seems their best item is the turkey which I enjoyed. Wife didnt like the tuna as had a very fishy taste. Not a large place on the end of a strip mall.
Nice place. Can be difficult to get a table as it is on the small side. Mostly a good experience
I haven't been in a diner in many years. It is nice, bright and clean, however, I was taken aback by the prices. It used to be that diners were an inexpensive place to have a meal out. There are very few dinner entrees under $19.95 and many are in the high $20s all the way up to the low $40s.
Diner itself needs a make over. Even tho the place seemed clean and an attendant was attentive to cleaning up tables and plates, the furniture was run down and dated. Same for the women’s room. The counter around the bathroom was chipped and rust and.. but paper towels, soap and tp were readily available, along with a automatic dispenser for a fresh sent. The place is under New Management, for how long I don’t know, so hopefully they’ll soon make the needed upgrades. With that said, arriving at noon, there was a good amount of staff for such a small place. We were greeted and sat immediately. The Server arrived to our table promptly for drink orders. Since we had a busy morning and no time for breakfast, we decided on coffee, omelettes with hash browns, rye toast and a side of corned beef hash. The coffee was a bit rough for me. I prefer a smoother coffee (not a Dunkin or 7-11 fan), but my hubby who adds cream & sugar thought it was fine. Our omelettes arrived very quickly. They were cooked perfectly, no browning, and their fillings were plentiful in the full sized omelette. They were worth the visit and the money. The hash browns were done perfectly too! Crisp, brown, but looked fresh, not like they sat on the grill just waiting for someone to order. They were nicely seasoned as well. The corned beef hash unfortunately, was returned and a request to remove from the bill was asked. I could hear they were not pleased with my request, speaking excitedly and loudly, but they did grant my request. We order corned beef hash frequently. Some places make it better than others (too fatty a product, or too much chopped onions can ruin a good corned beef hash); this spot had it swimming in grease! It was crispy in places, but the dish it was in was soaked in grease. Was this left to sit on the grill?! To make matters worse, the flavor was lacking. No point in making ourselves ill from the grease and not enjoy the taste of it. I don’t live in the area, so I won’t be back, but Im not sure if I would or wouldn’t go back if I lived in the area…
Average at best, not what it used to be. Service was sub par, prices are reasonable though…
Expensive diner food. Nickeled and dimed for onion, lettuce or pickles. I'm surprised a toast charging fee wasn't added. Surcharge for paying with debit. Soft pass.
Dennis & I go together to Blue Angel Diner only for Saturday dinner occasionally. Why we do not go more often on Saturday is mainly because we like to eat at 7 pm & the diner is packed. According to a waiter there, if you don’t make it in at 7pm, you must come after 8:15 pm. We came at this time a few times & were most happy with the no wait for a table, great waitress service and the food. Dennis loves the pork chops& anything parmigiana & I love any broiled fish except bluefish. Dennis & I have sweet tooth’s! Most desserts are great here!
Prior to the new management Blue Angel never charged for credit card usage. Now under new management Blue Angel is ripping off customers who use DEBIT BANK CASH CARDS. Banks pay on Debit cards immediately. So you charge for the use of a credit card as though it were a regular credit card which they are not. You get immediate cash from the bank. Then you charge an extra fee as though it were a regular credit card. You, sir are stealing money from customers. You will hear from Consumer Affairs. Also, you lost me.
We've been going here since they opened, used to be the best diner in Plainview, in our opinion. Food quality has declined a little, but the rest is essentially as good as its ever been.
Friendly servers and good classic diner vibes. Food was mediocre though, one of the less memorable chicken and waffles I've had. Not exactly a gourmet dish but I expected a little more. Salads are very big and good though.
Your typical diner that I just love. It is part of the american culture and I love coming to these. They are comforting and you know what you are going to get. The food is 3 stars but the ambiance makes it takes better. I hope these places don’t go away. They are the best and are an american staple.
I predict the recent price hikes are so extreme that it will drive them out of business. Some examples (relying on recent menus posted online): Caesar Salad $11.75 ----> $16.63 Short stack pancakes $7.75 ----> $11.43 Western Omelet $10.75 ----> $15.59 These are about 45% jumps. I don't think I've ever seen that before. Several tables were complaining to the staff about it at my last visit. I don't blame them for not returning.
I didn't enjoy the food. My coffee was horrible. The service was ok but certain foods people are allergic to and should be asked before hand especially when you don't have a menu and you're asking about a dish. You shouldn't have to ask for a napkin. That was my 1st and Last visit.
The food was great.. but i dont understand the server the way she served our food .. its a mess i took a picture of the soup that she serve us ..
Cashier count not read the bill. Could not do math. And also said she was on a break because she did not want to do her task. What a waste of life! Manager is oblivious to what is going on.
The food is terrible . waiter is terrible. Wont come back. Plainview diner is better of or actually way better off. Over cooked pasta not cooked paninis
Post Covid update: HORRIBLE!! Went Saturday for a late morning breakfast and left the plates with the pitiful food. I still received a pricey check with three of four un-eaten dishes when leaving after showing the horribly cooked food. Not the waiters fault. Wound up back home cooking breakfast for lunch. Reading other recent reviews, we're not returning.
I did not want to give any stars to this restaurant, but the post requires one to! The waitress service was extremely poor. The owner also displayed horrendous customer service when asked for plastic utencils to eat. The utensils, such as the spoon, fork, and knife were dirty with food remnants still left on them. So, rightfully so, I asked for plastic utencils because I already ordered food. Thus, I was still going to patronize the business because the food was brought out. However, the owner refused to give me plastic utencils stating that it "was the law of the restaurant." His attitude along with the wait staff was simply rude. I will never walk into Blue Angel Diner again!
Food is terrible. No taste and has the after taste of a skillet that hasn’t been cleaned. Left the food and never came back
Don't even bother spending money here! 3 HOURS FOR A MEAL. EMPLOYEES ARE SUPER RUDE. IF I COULD GIVE -100 STARS I WOULD. NEVER COME HERE. THIS IS THE WORST DINER I EVER BEEN TO!
We visited this diner for the first time today and I was extremely disappointed. The food was good but when I got the bill I realized that I was charged 1.50 for 3 cups of hot water. The manager told me that I was charged for using the cups. We dine out all the time and I have NEVER paid for hot water! The manager had poor customer service skills and had the nerve to ask me if I eat in restaurants when I dine out. I would never go back or recommend this diner to anyone. Shame on them for being rude and petty!
Upon entering the diner , it was not packed. The waiter sent me to sit at the back while there were other seats. He hurried me to order then I got my fries with hair in it . I told the waiter about it and he said there was none but he took it before I can get a good picture
Only reason I even gave the diner 1 star is the waiter was very nice and very attentive. When we first ordered we got 2 cups of coffee and BOTH cups were very dirty with old drip coffee stains. I took a napkin and barely wiped the cup and the stain came off right away so I asked for 2 clean cups. The worst part had to be i was swatting at flies the whole time i was eating which was not only inconvenient but gross the amount of flies in the diner. I was going to get up and walk out a couple of times. DEFINITELY would NOT recommend this place.
This place was absolutely disgusting! Diner deserves 0 stars. First of all, this diner is more like a nursing home then anything else. 1. Waitress was not friendly nor accommodating. 2. Owner was very unsanitary. He coughed and sneezed and didn't wash his hands afterwards and was handling people's food at the same time. GROSS! 3. The food was horrible. I ordered a Greek salad chicken wrap which tasted bland and stale. The chicken was chewy. I hope I don't get food poisoning. 4. Owner never asked me how our meals were nor did he thank us for patronizing his establishment. I rather starve then ever come back go this horrible place.
I wish I could give no stars. This place is appalling. The food was cooked worse than my teenage nephew's food, if you call that cooked. Moussaka is just microwaved and was cold in the middle and had to be reheated. The beef parmigiana was ground beef with no spices or onions, or garlic. Nothing. The pasta was watery because it hadn't been strained fully. I felt insulted to have to pay for such disgusting dishes. The place itself is a dive. Its clientele seem to be seniors who might not have many choices around there, but surely there is somewhere better. Luckily for me, I won't have to waste my money there again. Oh, and the manager is so rude that he tried to defend the fact that his food had no flavor or warmth. Beware!
Because they charged me one dollar for a slice of onion, I will never go back there. Any place that cheap must also be cutting corners in the kitchen. I will be talking about this to my friends and neighbors too. How cheap can you be. If you had any brains you would never do that. It shows extremely poor business sense. Perhaps you should change jobs
I’ve been a regular customer at this diner for the last couple years since we’ve moved to the neighborhood. However, the service had gone completely wrong lately. The waitress whom had served us for the last couple times we’ve dined in was completely out of focus on what she’s been doing. She messed up our orders every single time. There are other choices to dine in the neighborhood. I’ve decided to give my business to somewhere else.
They charge a fee if not paying cash. Cheeseburger deluxe is almost $7 more than a cheeseburger and only includes iceberg lettuce, a tomato, 1 onion ring and 15 fries. The beef was cheap, similar to what you’d purchase from a food stand. Overpriced!
