This is our new favorite restaurant! My parents took us to celebrate their birthdays plus me & my husband’s anniversary. Our waiter Alex (the most fun & enjoyable waiter I have ever enjoyed!) & the manager was right on top of everything making sure that we were enjoying ourselves! We even noticed how well all the waiting staff worked together as a team to make sure that everyone had a great experience! My mom said that her lobster was the best that she has had in years! I tried the Crusted Grouper & it was amazing! My dad & husband has the steak. My husband has been in many bbq competitions & was so impressed with how well his steak was seasoned & grilled correctly! Their cheesecake is to die for!!!! We will definitely be back for this beautiful atmosphere & experience of not being rushed to eat!
If I could give it 6 stars I would! The food was amazing! Alex and beau provided excellent service with great suggestions! Front desk staff were also great. the coconut grouper and the king crab sushi are tops! Sunset view was spectacular.
Every time I visit Port St Joe or Mexico Beach, a dinner at the White Marlin is mandatory. Not only are the views second to none, but the food is also outstanding. The oysters and sushi have always been fresh and beautifully presented, and I dream about the scallops. Over Thanksgiving I had the filet and lobster tails… this last trip (late Dec) our party shared plates so I was able to try crab cakes, crusted grouper, the ribeye, lobster tacos, and pear salad. Rave reviews all around. The cocktail list has never disappointed, and the white wines have a lovely variety for seafood parings. I’m particularly fond of the dry cava brut & the dry but bright chard… perfection. Beyond the location and menu, it’s the staff that makes the White Marlin a standout. The ever smiling Alex is an absolute delight, and it was wonderful to see him again, even though he wasn’t our server this trip — Kyle took exceptional care of us & the parents. Alex stepped in as family photographer for a few photos at sunset and they’re amazing. We snuck into the Oysterette to say hi to our favorite CEO of Perfectly Cooked Meat, the man, the myth, the amiable legend of the grill… Chile. Can’t wait to come back on our next visit to the beach house.
Yes yes yes! The White Marlin not only has amazing cuisine, but also an outstanding staff. The atmosphere is beautiful and relaxing and the views of the bay at sunset are breathtaking. My husband got the coconut crusted grouper and I had the lobster. Alex was our waiter and his recommendations for dinner and wine were spot on. Plus we now have a new friend because he felt like long, lost family. Thank you to Ellie for envisioning such a restaurant. We enjoyed celebrating the New Year at the White Marlin.
We had a phenomenal experience at The White Marlin. Alex was our waiter and made exquisite recommendations that included the coconut crusted grouper and the brown sugar scallops. He was also able to recommend a Chardonnay that paired beautifully with my meal. We ended the experience with the pineapple creme brulee that was decadent and light. The ambiance and the service made the experience that much more enjoyable. We will definitely be back and will recommend to our friends and family.
Phenomenal atmosphere and 5 STAR food! Bay scallops are sensational! Fresh Marlin Sushi topped with Mango...Yummy! Coconut crusted Grouper...Sensational! And the BEST Key Lime pie topped with honey 🍯 😋 Alex was our server and delivered 5 STAR service. He is very knowledgeable and kind. We stayed next door at Hotel Saint Joseph and we chose to eat here both nights because it was so unbelievably good! LA, the manager, is a doll. Very welcoming and warm environment. Make sure to eat here when you visit Port Saint Joe!!!
Dana was an amazing server. She was so sweet and took great care of us. She was very attentive to the table, and we had a great experience.
We love this place! The food is always great but the service is even better. Our waiter Alex was awesome! He went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and taken care of. Also, the views and the atmosphere are the best in Port Saint Joe! Highly recommend!
This is a beautiful restaurant with wonderful ambience, gorgeous sunsets, delicious food, and the Amazingly Awesome Alex! From beginning to end everyone and everything was fantastic! The olive bread is my new favorite (you are the man Alex) the Crab Diane is superb, Brussel sprouts yummy, and the towering Cheesecake was “ life-changing 😜”! The staff went above and beyond to make it an incredibly enjoyable experience. We will definitely spend many more date nights here at The White Marlin!!
We never miss an opportunity to come here when we are in Port St. Joe!! The best crab cakes I have ever had in my life! An amazing expresso martini amongst many other great drinks! Can’t wait for the next time we are back!
My husband and I came here to celebrate our 20 year anniversary. I got the Filet Mignon and he got the Ribeye. Both our steaks were cooked to perfection and the service from Alex was impeccable! P.S. Get the cheesecake! You won’t regret it!
We able to visit our favorite restaurant in Port St. Joe and of course, the food was amazing and the service was outstanding! We were disappointed that our favorite oysters, Margherita oysters, were not on the menu, but Dana assured us it was no problem to order them. They were so delicious! I had the seared tuna steak, hubs had surf and turf, and our girls had the parmesan grouper. Both girls enjoyed the oysters and had their first taste of lobster which they truly enjoyed. Dana was attentive and prompt with service and even brought us a little treat at the end. We will definitely return in the summer! Thank you, Dana! You were wonderful!
This was beyond a 5 star experience. We had a reservation so we quickly got our table upon arrival. Dana our waitress quickly greeted us and got us going with drinks while we looked at the menu. Dana made the best recommendations and made sure we got just what we wanted. The bourbon espresso martini that was on the dessert martini on the menu, was one of the best espresso martinis I’ve ever had; smooth and great flavors. We started with appetizers: calamari, coconut shrimp, and Rockefeller oysters. All were done to perfection and so tasty. I’m not a big oyster person but the oysters Rockefeller with the spinach and cheese was the best! I personally had the brown butter scallops and they were huge and some of the best I’ve ever had. The lobster tacos were loved by all. The Parmesan crusted grouper was a hit with my friends. And the sushi roll was fresh and made exactly to order. When we asked for a key lime pie, Dana also brought us out a special treat for our special girls night celebration. The views were so peaceful and gorgeous. The staff were attentive and beyond friendly. The vibe was so fun for our girls group. And to top it off the food was all top notch. Thank you Dana and others for making my first visit to the area unforgettable!!!!
I've been in amazing restaurants all over the country and in many other countries. This one is top notch. Jonah was great and had a smile on his face constantly. The sunset was amazing. The food was amazing.
Always a pleasure dining here, and the Rod Stewart lookalike/soundalike was amazing! As a musician I am very fussy, but this guy was great, we danced and just had a great night! Alex the waiter was THE BEST, and also the man who came around and asked how everything was did a great job, also. As you can tell by the pic, if you sit outside the sunsets here are also incredible when the temperature is not so hot, and our meals may have been pricey, but also fantastic! Always will come back to this place, and thanks to all involved, especially ALEX! You are the man! Thanks, again, Mickey & Starr from South Georgia...
Unexpected thunderstorms brought ~40 guests inside but the staff was efficient and wonderful! We didn’t have to wait much past our reservation! Our server, Alex, was phenomenal. From spot on menu recommendations and exemplary service to pointing out the most beautiful sunset the night was fantastic. Highly recommend the lobster bisque and brown butter sea scallops!
we went back in june and i just realized i never made a review. this was probably the closest experience i have had to a perfect dinner in my whole life. reserved the table a few months out for on the deck and got seated exactly where i was hoping. everything was delicious. waitress was efficient and nice. we had an absolutely awesome time we got three drinks, coconut shrimp, scallops, coconut grouper, and bread pudding. i am STILL dreaming of the bread pudding
What a wonderful restaurant. Great food, great cocktails, great service ♥️ We’ve dined here three consecutive Thursday evenings …the food was amazing every time. As was the ambiance…can’t beat the sunset views. We were fortunate to have Kayleigh as our server 2 out of 3 visits.
Was such a beautiful night on the patio! Got a little cold but the heaters definitely helped! All the food was amazing and recommendations from the server were on point. Nice upscale restaurant for PSJ.
What an amazing night and experience!! The food was incredible, the view truly breathtaking but the service from Alex and Nelson made our first time at the White Marlin truly unforgettable!
Everything was amazing. The king crab was excellent and the coconut crusted grouper was probably the best fish we’ve ever had. My son had the 8oz and said it was cooked to perfection. We are from out of town and are already making reservations to come back before we leave! Josiah was our server and he did an amazing job! Can’t wait to go back, we will order the same entrees and request the same server! It was sooooo good!!!
We made reservations here for our 10 year anniversary & are so happy we did! Our food was delicious and service was wonderful! I had the special of the day, lobster ravioli, my husband had the brown butter scallops. Tasha took amazing care of us! She was so sweet to take our picture in front of the sunset & was knowledgeable about the menu. We will absolutely be coming back to both Port St. Joe & The White Marlin! (Soon I hope)
This was our first experience and we loved it! It was amazing! It was our 25th wedding anniversary and we are already planning to come back here to celebrate 26! Jonah, the server, was so incredibly kind and knew answers to all our questions. He also gave us some information on the beauty and enjoyment of the state park near by. Loved him.
My husband and I had our 25th wedding anniversary dinner here and it was exceptional food and service, period! Making a reservation was simple. The atmosphere was very pleasant and welcoming. Our waitress, Terri, was very kind, proficient, and attentive. We were even surprised with a free mouth watering, delicious cookie a la mode for our anniversary! Best we have ever had! The manager personally stopped to talk with us and made us feel very comfortable while there. She too was very kind, proficient, and attentive to the customers dining there. You can tell that the management & staff care about their work taking pride in what they do, the facility, and the food. The food was outstanding! Tender, cooked just right, tasty 👌🏾 exactly what you’d want! After our scrumptious dinner & dessert, we enjoyed our drinks on the beautiful beach sitting area and outside patio. So relaxing 😌 and peaceful! Highly recommend The White Marlin to enjoy exceptional service, delicious food, and a beautiful atmosphere! 🖤
Food was fantastic. Rain put a damper on our location but we can’t control Mother Nature. They still did their best to accommodate us and our server Jonah was awesome!
We were in Port St Joe visiting family, and enjoyed our experience at the White Marlin again. Alex was attentive, knowledgeable and personable. He made our experience! The food did not disappoint - the blackened snapper special was tasty. The coconut crusted grouper was outstanding! We were disappointed that they weren’t serving key lime pie this evening, yet know they are changing their menu. Hopefully, they keep the best items! We’ll be back on our next visit.
Love this restaurant…… this was our second time visiting. We ate inside because it was too windy outside. Alex was our server and he did a wonderful job. What a charmer he was. Best calamari on the golf coast. We will come back next year when we’re in town.
The atmosphere here is sooo beautiful!! Sit outside at night if you can. We loved our meal and the help we got from ALEX! We had lots of questions and he was able to help me with a mixed drink that wasn’t on the menu. He was Super friendly and patient with us making decisions. Can’t wait for the next time. Very enjoyable evening! Angie
Wonderful dining experience! Gayle, our host, was very sweet and professional as usual! Our waiters, Bo and Alex, were absolutely fabulous! Food was delicious! Atmosphere was very cozy! Perfect recipe for success! Our fourth visit this week…..and will be back again soon! It’s just that good!
Alex was our waiter and did a fantastic job. Food was delicious and well portioned. Our hostess was marvelous. The manager was on her duties and spoke with us multiple times during our dinner.
We had a great dining experience at the White Marlin last night. Our server, Bonnie, did a great job taking care of us. We started with Pecan Old Fashioned’s which were delicious. We tried the calamari for an appetizer and it was some of the best we have ever had. After great salads we had the coconut crusted grouper and the sea scallops. Both dishes were top-notch. More than adequate portions and very well-executed. We highly recommend the White Marlin for a fine dining experience.
We had such an amazing experience! The food was outstanding & our server Alex was so attentive and wonderful. Chef Matt came out to greet our table. He was so kind & knowledgeable. We highly recommend if you haven’t been here definitely make the trip. 5 stars all around from our table!
Great experience. The service was very good. Alex, Caio and Cameron did an amazing job. Alex was very thoughtful that he even prompted us for a picture quickly to capture the sunset right before it went down.
This is our 5th or 6th time at White Marlin and it is amazing! This time we had Alex as a server. He was AWSOME. They did just change the menu though. I had the lobster pasta dish this time and it was very good, but I really wish they still had the cognac filet pasta and the chocolate moose cheesecake. Please bring those two items back. Keep Alex we love him!
Alex, Caio, Cameron and James were amazing! The food was amazing! The vibe was amazing! We had a private group in the oysterette room. It was just perfection. The food was tasty, flavorful, and so fresh! Great restaurant!
The White Marlin never disappoints. Whether Celebrating Birthday or Anniversary , we are thankful to have a nice place to go and drove from St George Island for my wife's birthday. Our waiter was 'Bo' who despite being relatively new employee, was very attentive and on his game. He helped to enhance the ambience of the evening. The food as usual was wonderful including best calamari appetizer in recent memory, similarly the Filet and Peruvian chicken, my old fashion, Hedges Cab, the and the new Chef's special dessert, blueberry cheese cake! Thanks for checking in on us LA... little touches make a difference too. Well done all around!!
After enjoying six meals at the White Marlin, I can honestly say there has not been one bad experience. I am willing to drive 30 minutes, knowing it will not be an inexpensive evening, but knowing it is worth every penny. Service is always spot on, Food delicious and the view amazing. We had one issue with an Entrée and brought it to the manager’s attention when she was circulating through the dining area. She was appreciative of our comment and immediately rectified the issue. A +++++
Initially, I was concerned my party wouldn’t enjoy our visit as we were seated in the sunniest outdoor spot with no umbrella or fan near our table. We had elected to reserve an early supper time slot, so it was extremely hot. The deck was basically empty when we arrived, but our request to switch tables was met with resistance from the hostess; however, once settled in a more suitable location, our server Alex provided a wonderful dining experience. He made some good food suggestions and was very accommodating. My friends and I enjoyed a lovely view of the sunset as well. If we return, we may choose a later time or will be certain to ask for a shaded table.
We had dinner at the White Marlin and overall it was a solid meal. I ordered the filet and my husband had the ribeye. Both were cooked fine but I wish the steaks had a harder sear and more seasoning for that extra flavor and texture. We did get the cognac sauce and I will say that it was delicious with the steak. Without the sauce however, the steaks would have been lacking. My mother-in-law had the Parmesan crusted grouper and that was very tasty as well. Since we were celebrating my husband’s birthday, our server Alex brought us a free Skillet Cookie with ice cream and it was so good! We loved the addition of the white chocolate chips on top. The restaurant itself is stunning. The outside seating area is especially lovely, adding to the experience. Overall, the food, service, and atmosphere were enjoyable and we left satisfied.
Amazing food and the atmosphere was stunning, but it lacked one thing the service was slow and drink refills were even slower. The rosemary steak was very nice, and the shrimp were delicious. Please do not go in this place thinking that it will be cheap it's not that kind of restaurant. Family of five by the way!
Highly recommend coming here during sunset! Will say— we did have to wait over an hour past our reservation (after unexpectedly having our reservation time changed earlier in the day)… but once we were finally sat, we enjoyed ourselves!
Alex provided the best service I’ve had in my 37 years of life. He was personable, entertaining, and kind. I would return just for him! But the food was also quite delicious.
We had a scare before arriving; we received a message that our reservation fora table had been changed to at the oyster bar. Since neither of us line oysters and we were celebrating an anniversary, we really preferred a table. The hostess was able to adjust seating to get us a table again. We split a bowl of lobster bisque and crab cake with corn salsa. The bowl of bisque was huge and watered down. They should offer a cup size for appetizer. The crab was very good. Hubby had the filet, medium rare, & I had grilled trippletail. Both came with garlic mashed potatoes, carrots & asparagus. The carrots were still crunchy and hard to cut, asparagus was over cooked, and both the steak & fish were dry. We finished with the pineapple crème brulee, which was tasty but the bowl made from 1/2 pineapple seemed like a waste. Our server Alex was attentive and friendly, and the restaurant atmosphere was pleasant. The ladies restroom seemed less classy than the rest of the place- like its decor was an afterthought.
Finally, we were able to try this restaurant. Walked in right after they opened on a Saturday, and if you didn't have a reservation, the only thing available was the bar area. They were busy! Ordered the lobster tacos appetizer, and for entrees, I had the parmasean crusted grouper. My husband had the coconut encrusted grouper. His was perfect, a nice size piece of grouper, and it fell apart as his cut into it with his fork. Mine unfortunately was not easy to cut into, I had to use a knife, and it was tough to cut. I probably should have sent it back, but I didn't as they were very busy. It's the reason for 4 stars for food. Overall, we enjoyed going and will probably try it again in the future, I'll just order something else.
Service, atmosphere, the view were excellent. Alex and Beau were very attentive and made us feel so welcome. Food was incredibly good. The only downside was being charged $29.50 and $28.50 for a dirty martini and a French martini, respectively. They should have been around $12 to $15 each, not twice that. They were good, but not that good. Word to the wise, perhaps ask before ordering something not listed on the menu. Other than being overcharged for a couple of pre dinner drinks, we had a wonderful dinner.
Regrettably, the dining experience at White Marlin did not meet the anticipated standards. The service, particularly the server's workload, appeared to be a significant challenge, resulting in a rushed initial pace followed by extended wait times between courses. The necessity to order appetizers and entrees concurrently, coupled with the delayed dessert service, detracted from the overall experience. While the server assistant's efforts were appreciated, the lack of managerial attention to our table, despite apparent engagement with others, was noted. It is recommended that management re-evaluate server assignments to ensure optimal guest satisfaction. The culinary offerings were commendable; however, the service deficiencies overshadowed the quality of the food.
It's a beautiful place. We went on a Tuesday and the good chef must have been off that day. The grouper was dry and overcooked into cardboard. The coconut shrimp were good. The sushi rolls were 80% rice and not sticky rice. My roll was soaking in sauce. The chicken was boring. Everything's was soo expensive. Steak was $60. This is Port Saint Joe not NYC.
Early Valentine’s Day celebration Feb. 13. Made reservations one week in advance, ended up seated in a back room with a large party consisting of mostly young men. That was not the problem, they were having a blast as they should have been. It was not an ideal seating for one couple to be in this room with such a large group. Not exactly the Valentine’s Day dinner we had hoped for. Food was mediocre at best and the service was really bad. We had to ask for our check as we were leaving and even that was messed up, no place on the bill to leave a tip because of the register used? Who ever heard of such a thing?! This restaurant was way overbooked, overpriced and understaffed. Disappointing dining experience for almost $500.
Wow what a disappointment from the past few years ago. Right from the get go we had problems. The receptionist couldn’t find our reservation even though they had just seated our guests. The table was missing silverware. The waiter was horrible. He could barely open our wine bottle. He brought the wrong dish to my husband who had to wait 30 mins for the correct dinner and we all had finished by the time his dish arrived. 2 of us ordered the scallops which in the past were large diver scallops and fabulous and $45.00. Our scallops were 5 TINY scallops with a sauce. No veggies or a starch for $65.00!! You have got to be kidding me!! There was NO compensation for screwing up my husband’s order. Needless to say our 2 dinners and half the cost of a bottle of wine was $180.00. We did not tip the waiter sending a message to the owners. We will not come back. The food and service was completely unacceptable. This used to be a favorite restaurant for us but not anymore.
I see the owner responds to these, which is great because you should know this information. I have to think this not the customer experience you wanted. Doubtful to return. Unfortunately on Valentines Day, we did not have a good experience. We had reservations (had to provide credit card to reserve through Open Table), so really expected everything to go smooth. Getting seated was no issue. The wait staff explained what dishes they no longer had....I get it, it's a busy day and it happens, but was like 5 or 6 items already. It was on the later end of the day. 4 people at the table and we placed our order. The wait staff comes back and informs us 3 of 4 dishes they no longer had available (that were not on the original list of 'out of stock'). I asked to speak to the manager. She came over so I explained we ordered items that were supposed to be available and wondered how a place runs out of so much stuff? She indicated this place is a 'Farm-to-table' restaurant and gave us numbers on how many reservations they had and how many people they served. (The website explained the local sourcing of ingredients, which is great to do for such a small community. PS....the Menu link on the website doesn't work at this time, so I couldn't see what ingredients or dishes we were going to get until we arrived.) I indicated that we had reservations and before i could finish my sentence, she said she was not going to argue with me and walked away. Needless to say, when the wait staff came back, I apologized and explained it wasn't his fault, and we cancelled our order, paid for the drinks and appetizers we had and promptly went somewhere else.
