I love this place. Everything feels very homemade and cooked with love. I usually get their Mexican style tacos with fresh cilantro and lime and they're always so refreshing and filling. I always recommend people to try it!

Such a great restaurant! I ordered so many amazing dishes: the chicken tacos, shrimp tacos, chicken chimichanga, birria tacos, chips and guac, and tres leches churros. We all got different aguas frescas, and I had the mango one. Everything was absolutely delicious! The service was super friendly, and the atmosphere felt local, traditional, and full of good vibes. The desserts were a perfect finish. I highly recommend!

This place has great authentic Mexican food! The prices are fair. The tacos are made generously. The service is always pleasant, especially Gabby, she’s such a sweetheart. The restaurant is decorated very nicely, I love the back patio especially on a summer night. Try the Horchata, it is very good!

I freaking love this place! It's really good food that's not too pretentious like other places on main. There's a lot of good food in Poughkeepsie and el Azteca is among the best ones. They have a daily special that can really save you some money too. It's a shame they don't sell beer otherwise I would eat here ALL THE TIME! I had the flan!

Came here with my mother for a quick lunch. We both got chicken tacos (Texas style & Mexican style) with rice and beans. Both delicious. To drink, we each got a homemade agua fresca. One Pineapple & other Mango. Also both delicious. We ordered some empanadas to go, and I'm sure those will be amazing as well. We'll definitely be back. The service was A+. Thank you!

Delicious! Had the tlayuda and mole con pollo - they were great and very generous portions. Lovely outdoor seating in the side garden. They have homemade cakes and drinks, will try that next time!

I really love Azteca! Gem in the heart of Poughkeepsie. I’m surprised it isn’t busier because I love the bright decor and the outside patio. It seems busier for takeout but we’ve enjoyed both. The food is delcious, well seasoned and always fresh tasting ingredients. Portion size is just right for entrees. That being said, the guacamole is super superrrr small for $13 so I’d skip that app. There are a lot of vegetarian and vegan options which I appreciate! Fresh juices and horchata are sooo much yum and a must try. We’ve also gotten to enjoy the churros, plantains and tres leches- all very delicious. It does feel like a family vibe in there, and we always feel well taken care of. The prices are on the higher side in my opinion but we keep going back bevause the quality is there! 100% worth a stop!

Delicious Mexican food and really friendly and nice people. I love their Chicken and Lime soup, crispy chicken wings, tacos and that fluffy Mexican rice. Their homemade Agua Frecas are a must try. Really clean and vibrant decor. Must visit if you like Mexican food in Poughkeepsie!

Welcoming ambiance. Love their simple decor. This taqueria is clean and serves really good food. We had tacos but their menu has a nice variety of Mexican dishes. I had chorizo tacos, a bit greasier than usual but tasty. Carnitas we’re good too. A little more salt to my taste but it was still good. Stop by!!

I had the Al Pastor Mexican Taco, Mango Drink, and Churros for dessert. It was all good and at a reasonable price. My wife had the Chicken Mexican Taco which she didn't like as much. Overall, she though the ingredients could have been fresher and more flavorful. However, if you are in a pinch for Mexican food this place should do the trick.

Unique place, delicious food and knowledgeable stuff. Our server was super nice and friendly. Recommended what to get. My husband got tacos with dip and really liked them. We were served really fast. A portion of guacamole was huge! The whole atmosphere there is really interesting!

While going for Hudson Walkway found this place for lunch. It has parking facilities. Location: near Hudson Walkway, on the street, at the signal. Easy to find. Food: was hot but not good or tasty. Can see rice was old and not Mexican rice it was different rice. Also, food was not asked per pricing. Service: was quick, but no waitress just one person. Seating: 6-10 tables, indoor and outdoor seating available. A lot of windows and good lighting. A lot of drink options.

Went there today (7/14/24). The server was nice and friendly, but the food was awful. I ordered the chili relleno with beef and cheese, and it was soggy and greasy. It seemed like the batter was soaked in the oil, and it was not crispy whatsoever. It was the worst chili relleno I've ever had, and definitely not worth $19! For that price I would have expected substantially more. I feel deceived by all the high reviews, but perhaps anything else on the menu may have been better?

We're visiting from out of town and decided to try this place based on the reviews. We were underwhelmed to say the least. As others have mentioned the servers and staff were welcoming and overall quite friendly. We tried the Al pastor and chorizo tacos served with lime, green onions, and radish. Adding green picante and lime reminded us of what we expect from quality traditional Mexican tacos. As a foodie I would recommend others like me to try other alternatives first.
