In a place you wouldn't expect, in a small space, I think it's east of the Galán or Trinidad neighborhood... on a corner, is this little restaurant, which now only serves standing-up service on the sidewalk—they used to have a few tables that the police had removed—the most authentic Mexican food you'll find in Bogotá. The chilies are brought from Mexico, and the horchata is made the traditional way. The meat they use for tacos, tortas, and burros is baked for over five hours and served generously, without hesitation, in portions that aren't disguised with lettuce, tomato, or any other vegetable that would distort the size of the portion offered. The Jamaican water is also good. And finally, you're served by a true Mexican, married to a Colombian, eager to expand and looking for a bigger space because the current one has become too small. Oops! I almost forgot, they serve a spectacular birria for a very good price. Well... it's not in the best location, but I dare say it's better than several I know on 116th Street or in the Zona Rosa, or those in the neighborhoods that are abundant, or even the ones in Paloquemao that are already famous. I think you can also go, order, and take this food home to enjoy.

We visited Taquería El Canelo and it was a delightful experience. It's a restaurant with outdoor seating, served by the owner, who is Mexican, which gives the food an authentic, unique, and truly special touch. The menu offers a wide variety of typical Mexican dishes such as tacos, tortas, birria burgers, pizza birria, birria ramen, and traditional drinks like horchata and Jamaican water. You can see more menu options in the attached photos. This time, we ordered a birria ramen combo with three tacos, a birria burger, and two drinks: one horchata and one Jamaican. We found everything delicious, with intense flavors, well-prepared, and excellent presentation. It has undoubtedly become one of our favorite places to enjoy Mexican food. Another detail we loved is that they offer a bar with four types of salsa, ranging from mild to very hot, ideal for those who enjoy different levels of spice. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the quality of the food truly surprised us. Highly recommended for those seeking authentic Mexican flavors!

The food is not bad but the place is very small, I recommend going bigger. The area has been a frequent cause of accidents. That corner is notorious. My aunt almost killed herself crossing it a few years ago.

Muy regular la atención, grosero el cocinero y no saluda al llegar, muy sucios no utilizan guantes para manipular la comida y fuman dentro del establecimiento

Terrible. There are only 3 chairs, so you either eat standing up or have to wait. The waitress is incredibly lazy. You have to go all the way to her to place your order. She doesn't offer suggestions like the guy who was there at the beginning. You have to put up with the owner pretending to be Mexican and showing the same old video. They charge a 10% tip without warning. Beware. But the worst part is that they've reduced the amount of meat they serve by more than 50%. For example, now you pay 25,000 for nachos (a 125g package costs 7,000) and get less than 20-40g of meat.

I went and they forgot my order. I had to wait half an hour before I had to go back and ask them to take me into account. They delivered orders to three families before mine. Terrible service. I hope the owner is aware of it. I will never buy from them again 🤮. Tacos are supposed to be quick, and it took half an hour!
