What a wonderful dining experience. My wife picked the restaurant because of the reviews and when I told a server at the Westin where we were staying that we planned to go to here for dinner his eyes lit up... The place is beautiful. The food remarkable. The service, 5 star. Pedro the manager is so warm and wonderful to visit with. This was our best restaurant experience during our 10 days in Mexico. The paella is so remarkable. What a special treat. The cheesecake was also so so good and my son is still talking about it.
Wow! This was such an amazing restaurant! Service was amazing. We had such good food! The salmon and the sea bass was some of the best dishes we have ever had. I am gluten and dairy free and they were able to adjust plates for me. I felt right at home. The garlic shrimp were especially delicious!
This is an incredible place!!! Such great food and incredible service!! I felt like I was back in Spain. Great guitarist too. The house wine was fantastic. Going back!! Met the owner Pedro. Such wonderful hosts. Special mention is deserved by Diego our waiter. He gave us such wonderful service. He made our evening great!!!
We were looking for a nice place to get octopus for my birthday lunch and we found this place. It was delicious! The cocktails were good too! My husband got the oxtail and my kid got the steak and fries, and vanilla ice cream. They loved them. We will definetely be coming back next time we are in town.
Thursday was our anniversary (44th if you want to know). We angsted for weeks at what restaurant we would celebrate. When we resolved to be within walking distance of our Marina Vallarta home, we were left with only one choice, Mesón Ibérico. At slightly more than a year old, it is far more elegant (and expensive) than its neighbors. Based upon prior visits we expected carefully prepared, sophisticated food with experienced servers. Our anniversary dinner surpassed all expectations. Yes, at least by Vallarta standards, the meal was expensive; but it was worth every penny, nickel, dime, and more. When we arrived at our 7:30 reservation time, the restaurant was packed. Of the two tables available we selected one at the entrance of the smaller dining room, close to the excellent violin player who personally serenaded us from time to time during our stay. She even asked us to select songs. Almost immediately after being seated the waiter served a rich, thick gazpacho soap in individual glasses. Shortly thereafter appeared a bread basket and olive oil flask. The bread was a sour dough bread that far exceeded any that we have experienced in Puerto Vallarta. And the olive oil, especially in combination with the sour dough bread, was so special that we asked the server what the brand was, Our selection criteria was to choose items for their interest and hopefully unusual aromas and flavors. For our wine we chose a reasonably priced tempranillo, a Muga. Its moderate tannins and noticeable aroma paired perfectly with our eventual menu. We are not big eaters and generally share both an appetizer and a main course. Accordingly, the Galician Style Octopus and the Tomato and Anchovy Salad were our starters. Both were world class. The Octopus came as approximately 3/4 inch slices of tender octopus, drizzled with olive oil, sprinkled with paprika, and each speared with a toothpick. The tomatoes in the salad were large slices, thick, firm, and fresh; the whole anchovies, that were on top of each tomato slice, were probably "boquerones", a Spanish anchovy soaked in vinegar, that have almost a sweet flavor, quite unlike normal anchovies. For our main entry we elected the rack of lamb. The outstanding presentation was only surpassed by the flavors. Individual lamb chops came arranged on the plate on top of one another, but each rotated 90 degrees with respect to the chop below, painting a tableau much like the spokes of a wheel. Below the chops was a compressed puree of potatoes. Covering all was an incredible dark brown sauce whose flavor compelled us to use the sour dough bread to scrape clean the plate. Our dessert choice was Manchego cheese topped with quince jelly slices. What a surprisingly delicious combination. Unexpectedly that was supplemented by a complimentary serving of almond pie on a large white plate with a chocolate engraving “Happy 44th Anniversary”. Both desserts were wonderful, but the pie deserves special mention. Unlike a normal almond pie, this pie consisted of a relatively dry flourless combination of ground almonds, egg yokes, and other ingredients, resulting in an extraordinarily unusual flavor and texture. To conclude the evening we chose a Spanish version of Grappa, a strong brandy distilled from grape skins and solids. The Condes de Albarei was clear, aromatic, and strong. For us a truly special end to an exceptional evening. This review cannot close without strong praise of the service. The team that served us, Daniel P., Daniel G. Fernando S, and the manager Fernando were attentive, but not overbearing, responsive but not obsequious, in a word: perfect. We have not experienced such professionalism since we ate in top New York City restaurants. Mesón Ibérico is a winner.
Cesar was very professional and kind. His service, along with the food, made this a 5-star experience. The restaurant is clean and cozy with a beautiful layout. Families and romantic diners would feel comfortable in the atmosphere this restaurant provides. I would 100% recommend this place to all!
Elevated dining. A wonderful Spanish cuisine location in the heart of the Marina. Everything we had was wonderful and the paella made with dry rice stood out, specifically because of the delicious burnt bottom crust of the rice that you rarely see outside of Valencia, Spain, that gives it its specific wonderful flavor! Great service as well. Fernando Salas was our waiter and he had good knowledge of the food and gave us good recommendations! Highly recommend this place!
We had Christmas Day dinner here and it was really enjoyable! We ordered 3 tapas dishes, a salad, and an entree for 2 adults and 1 child. It was way too much food. Everything was delicious. The Tortilla de Patatas was made to order. The garlic shrimp was tasty. Service was attentive. Would definitely go back.
We found this new restaurant on our visit to Puerto Vallarta. This restaurant is beautiful., Very well managed and has delicious food. After visiting Spain About a year ago, this restaurant is the closest thing we’ve ever had to what we experienced in Spain The pictures added, show examples of some of the delicious food we enjoyed. We highly recommend this restaurant, if you love true Spanish food
We have been in PV 25 years. This is a great culinary addition. Right in the middle of the marina restaurant row. Beautiful decor. Clean. Air conditioned. With exceptional service. The staff were very attentive and the food was delicious. The food presentation was excellent and the restaurant was reasonable priced for such well done food. We will go back again for sure. I love a good paella and their was great!!!
I really enjoyed this restaurant. All of our servers and the manager were super nice and helpful. The tapas were excellent and better than the entrees. We had the iberico ham with tomato bread, which we loved. The garlic shrimp was also delicious. But the restaurant missed on the paella. The flavor of the rice was very good, but the meat and shellfish were dried out. We also had the roast suckling pig, which was somewhat dry as well. At other restaurants in Spain it always comes very moist. I will definitely repeat here, but I will skip the entrees and get the tapas.
Incredible experience, food, and ambiance! The service is impeccable, and the area is beautifully designed. The Venetian water is a great option to refresh yourself in summer, and for dinner, the wine list is fantastic! I tried the octopus and the best paella, and when it was time for dessert, the cheesecake was on another level! If you love food and wine, Meson Ibérico will definitely become one of your go-to places.
Everything was soooo good. Their sangria was delicious and the mixed paella uff. The atmosphere is so cool. It’s a really great place to have dinner with friends. We celebrated one of our friends birthday and don’t forget to ask for Julio, he is really kind and made us feel at home.
If you are looking for a real Spanish Restaurant Mesón Ibérico is the place! The food was incredible, the service from Daniel and Pedro was outstanding and the flamenco show an amazing added value to the dinner. 100% recommended
Julio was a very knowledgeable waiter. Great food and service. Violin player was exceptional.
Our experience this evening could not have been any more enjoyable, nor could the food have been any more delicious. Immediately after being seated our group of 5 was served gazpacho and squares of a mixture of seafood. For appetizers, we chose the asparagus, the shrimp in garlic butter, and the calamari—all were very flavorful and delicious. We opted to share the black rice with shrimp, mussels, and calamari and the paella with shrimp, pork, and calamari. I enjoyed both but particularly loved the paella. We sampled several nice desserts including ice creams and a cheese tart. Drinks and wines were very good. Fernando, Julio, and Pedro were all wonderful and very attentive…. We were all pleasantly surprised that we could enjoy so much delicious food and drink for such a reasonable price.
Incredibly delicious and authentic Spanish tapas. They were able to accommodate our one vegetarian in the group - no problem. There was a beautiful Spanish guitarist playing. Wow this place is amazing. Highly recommend.
The last thing I was expecting to find in Puerto Vallarta was this excellent Spanish restaurant. My wife and I made reservations here on our last night of vacation and couldn’t have been more pleased. The owner and the entire waitstaff was top tier. If you go, ask for Daniel G. He was very attentive and extremely knowledgable about the cuisine. The seafood paella with lobster tail was out of this world good. All of the seafood was cooked to perfection which is a rarity I’ve found with paella. The jamón ibérico de jabugo took me back to being in the Mercado San Miguel in Madrid. They even let slice a piece of the jamón! The complementary tapas and croquetas were amazing. Don’t forget to order a carajillo!!!
Such an impressive restaurant, beautiful inside the service and atmosphere is impeccable, entertainment with Spanish guitar strolling violin and flamenco on certain days. The food on the traditional Spanish menu was excellent, the Iberico ham is delectable slice table side. Paella is easily enough for 2 as are the appetizers. I enjoyed the tender octopus in smoked olive oil and the Russian salad with tuna was divine. The wait staff are friendly and not pretensions like in some of the higher end restaurants Impressive!
Caprese salad shrimp and mushrooms sea bass. All prepared wonderfully.
Why shell out for a plane ticket to Madrid when you can saunter over to Meson Ibérico and soak in the spirit of Spain without ever leaving the Marina Vallarta? This restaurant is as close to a Spanish fiesta as you can get without needing your passport. From the first bite, it’s clear that Meson Ibérico isn’t just serving food—it’s serving Spain on a plate. Each dish represents a different region, as if the entire country decided to throw a culinary reunion right in front of you. Our taste buds took a tapas tour that included the silky Fideua, tender Pulpo a la Gallega, classic Tortilla Española, hearty Cachopo, and the delightfully fresh Ensaladilla Ventresca. Each dish was made with the kind of top-tier ingredients that would make any abuela proud, and tasted so authentic that we half expected to see a bullfight in the background. And let’s not forget dessert. The Tarta de Santiago and Cheese Pie were so good, they deserve their own standing ovation. The service? Impeccable. Cesar, you’re a legend. Pedro you run the business impeccably. Thanks for everything! In short, Meson Ibérico is a must-visit—a little slice of Spain nestled in Marina Vallarta. Just be warned: once you eat here, you might start pronouncing ‘tapas’ with a Spanish lisp.
Excellent food , excellent service , beautiful view . Everything was fantastic. I recommend the ham carved right at the table side . Paella was enough for 3 . Wine recommendations top notch
One of the finest restaurants in Puerto Vallarta regardless of the type of cuisine! Friendly professional service in a very nice atmosphere with wonderful Spanish food. A great variety on the menu.. This is my fifth visit. I have sampled many of the dishes on the menu and everything has been delicious. For starters, I would highly recommend the table side carved Iberico ham,Serrano ham croquettes, and also the Fabada Asturiana which is a wonderful white bean stew containing various sausages along with some bacon. A very nice slow cooked comfort food type fish. Moving onto the entrees, you cannot go wrong with any of the Paella dishes. The black rice version is amazing.. They also do a nice job on the ribeye steak.. For dessert, The cheese tart cannot be missed.
We happened upon this restaurant while at the marina. The Manager, food, service was superior. There were four adults in our party and our last night in PV. The restaurant was an experience . You will not be disappointed
Amazing food and service! We were randomly walking in the marina area, decided to have a drink here. The drink turned to food and the attentive staff made it a perfect special meal. Jorge and Carlos were excellent hosts. I wish we had a comparable restaurant at home! Perfect.
They were amazing! As soon as we arrived they were very nice and welcoming! Soon after, he gave my daughters a tour and showed her the wine fridge and cheeses. Miguel was a wonderful server, and very attentive. We personally recommend the aged ham and the crème brûlée!
Great food and service. Daniel was great and had perfect recommendations. Iberian Ham, Sea Bass Donosterria and Suckling Pig were terrific. Definitely recommend a visit.
Had a wonderful experience at Mesón Ibérico! Our server, Daniel G did a fantastic job of guiding us through the menu and helping make sure we ordered the best tasting dishes. The Octopus was phenomenal! Definitely recommend stopping into this restaurant with a group of friends to enjoy all they have to offer!!
We had such a special night here! Our server, Julio, was fantastic! Knowledgable, personable, charming and gave us great recommendations. The food was delicious. Wonderful night our
Stumbled upon this fantastic place by the hotel. Best Iberian ham since I visited Barcelona, and highly recommend the octopus and paella. Oh, and they have a small indoor play structure at the back for the kids if they get restless!
Great service, incredible view. Excellent atmosphere. Quality service. The food out of this world. Our server Diego. Was very polite and st the same time very informative about all the dishes and very happy to have us there. I highly recommend Meson Ibérico in Puerto Vallarta.
The service is very good. Julio and Parsa were very professional, they were introducing the ham and let me try to cut it also Sebastian is very funny guy and overall great atmosphere and nice dinner
Very good food, and service by Cesar. Happy to learn there is a great kids menu and kids club so my husband and I were able to relax during dinner. We will come back!
Food was very tasty, service was excellent! Our waiter, Jorge V, gave us a great service throughout the night, we’re very grateful. Excellent experience.
All around great restaurant. Excellent food! Our server (Daniel) took care of us. Thank you, Daniel for working so hard to ensure that we enjoyed our time at the restaurant.
Fernando provided excellent service and everything we got was fantastic. As a vegetarian I was skeptical but this place was exceptional. Highly recommend if you are looking for an upscale experience in the marina.
Fernando and the entire staff - amazing! We have been here 2 times in 5 nights. Highly recommended!
The food is incredible. The service is fantastic. Every bite was delicious. We returned multiple times because it's the best restaurant in the area, no contest. The Iberian Ham is sliced perfectly and melts in your mouth. The selection of Spanish cheeses, olives. The paella!!!! The tapas!! Any entree is served with quality and flavor in mind. A great atmosphere, very well appointed. We'll return again and again. All the best to this magnificent crew. We appreciate you and your cuisine.
This restaurant is absolutely exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding—every employee played an important role in making our experience truly unforgettable. My wife celebrated her birthday here, and it could not have been more perfect. She left with one wish: to come back again. Our waiter, Caesar, was phenomenal. He guided us through the entire dining experience, from the food selections all the way to dessert. His recommendations were spot-on, and his attention to detail made the night even more special. This is, without a doubt, the best Spanish restaurant I’ve ever experienced. If you’re in Puerto Vallarta, you simply cannot experience the city fully without eating here. The flavors, the ambiance, and the service are all top-tier. And the octopus dish—incredible! Highly recommended. We can’t wait to return!
The food was good! The food here was a bit more expensive than the other places we ate on our vacation, but the quality was also better than the other places we went 👍 The staff were friendly, and the salad I had was wonderfully done. I would come back for a nice occasion :) I will say the dessert I had (cheesecake) was really big. I found it difficult to eat that much sugar and cream. It could be a matter of personal preference as I prefer smaller portion sizes/lighter desserts. It was still delicious though.
OK, we ordered too much food. But we were glad we did. Our two starters, tuna tartare and garlic shrimp, were both very generous portions and both excellent. For the main course we shared the house mixed paella. Delicious and delicate, but again more than we could eat. We also had the two best resposado margaritas of our entire trip and shared a bottle of Mexican sauvignon blanc (surprisingly good!) Recommended by our charming waiter Herman. Coupled with the tasteful atmosphere, the evening was an outstanding culinary experience -- at a reasonable price.
Amazing restaurant! The food and service were fantastic! Its a wonderful place for families with young children as they can play in the kids area safely while the adults can enjoy their meals.
Great service and the food was great. Fernando the manager and Fernando tour server were amazing. We got to use the new kids club as well. Highly recommend for families.
Amazing Spanish food and outstanding service by Daniel. The dishes were full of authentic flavor, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. On top of that, Daniel’s service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and very professional. He made the whole experience feel relaxed and special. Definitely a place worth coming back to.
Fantastic and authentic to spainish cuisine. The octopus was some of the best ive ever had. Everything from the bread to how they politely handled angry and rude french canadian tourists complaining about only getting 10 shrimp and rice on pellae was phenomenal. 10/10. Do not miss.
The food was delicious and the waiter attentive. The only spot to sit was the bar. But the open tables were never used during our dinner. Reservations must be for the whole night? So I recommend reservations 😝
This place truly stands out with its beautiful design—definitely a step above most spots in the marina or anywhere in Vallarta. The service is excellent and attentive, the drinks and wine selection are solid, and the overall atmosphere is welcoming. Food-wise, I was really impressed with the Galician-style octopus and thought the suckling pig was quite good as well. The grilled asparagus was another highlight, the steak and lobster pretty good, as was the grilled octopus. However, a few dishes missed the mark. The garlic prawns didn’t quite deliver, the pork ribs felt uninspired (nothing particularly Spanish about them), and the paella was disappointing—lacking the depth of flavor you’d expect, with tasteless chicken and dry pork. The meat stew was salty. In short, the setting and service are fantastic, and some dishes are genuinely enjoyable, but others could definitely use some reworking. I gave it 4 stars for the design, staff, and a few standout dishes. Otherwise, it would have been closer to average. Come on, guys—you’ve created a beautiful space. Now the food deserves to match it.
Ugh! We had such high expectations based on a recommendation from Jorge (a restaurant employee at the Westin) and were terribly disappointed. I went there for the paella and the waiters talked me out of it because of the 35-40 minute wait (that I knew about because that info is clearly written on the menu). I was willing to wait but got an odd vibe from them (they wanted the table??!!). I went with Sea Bass that was horribly soaked in olive oil and chunks of garlic (also had 3 or 4 mussels and 2 shrimp on top). I was nauseous all night from it. My husband ordered the lamb that was covered in some brown gravy. I tried it—not good. Atmosphere was nice but had higher expectations for food. Would not recommend this place.
Steak was blah. Orders medium rare came out very rare. Ended up bringing out hot skillet to cook some more. Potato's we're almost raw. No flavor. Very bland
Sometimes I’m disappointed but not surprised; this time, I was disappointed and very surprised. Given the high prices and the cozy atmosphere, we were expecting a very nice dinner. We ordered the oxtail and the octopus with mashed potatoes. To begin with, there was no starter or complimentary bread, only a small gazpacho, which made the wait for the main dishes feel longer and less welcoming. When the food finally arrived, the oxtail sauce was pleasant, but the dish lacked any meaningful accompaniment. The octopus was very bland and almost tasteless, as were the mashed potatoes. I had to ask the waiter for salt just to bring out some flavor. Overall, considering the price, the quality was very disappointing. The octopus in particular was comparable to something you could find in a convenience store, which was far from the dining experience we had expected.
