What a fantastic place! Truly worth the hassle to get there, The view, the service, and the food are excellent.
Beautiful waterfront grotto with a relaxed atmosphere, picture-perfect views and friendly family service. Booked a table in advance online, arrived by boat and were served very efficiently - allowing us to catch the next boat back to Lugano centrale. Recommend the burrata and truffle pasta!
Delicious food and stunning views. The portions, the variety in the menu, the decoration, everything on point. You can arrive by taxi boat and enjoy the entire experience. Will definetely come back.
Stopped here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon on our way from Lake Como to Lucerne. We had a wonderful view from our table and lunch was fresh, simple and delicious. I started with the beet salad with walnuts and goat cheese and had the mushrooms with polenta for my main. My husband started with the special burrata salad and had the fresh tagliatelle with truffle. All of the food was great, but the fresh pasta with truffle was al dente perfection. Great spot to stop for lunch!
Such a beautiful location by the water. It's not too hot and has a little bit of wind going to make it comfortable (however, if you get cold fast, I recommend bringing a sweater or scarf with you). The food was amazing, very good, and has a home cooked vibe to it. Such a cute and cosy place. We had the fresh salad and tomato and onion salad as starters both very refreshing. As mains, we took codfish and fish of the day. For dessert the chocolate lava cake and panna cotta. Everything was perfectly seasoned, came in good time, and all round tasted scrumptious.
Absolutely fantastic little restaurant. We had the Risotto workshop, which comes with also a delicious appetizer, wines and dessert. Our hostess, Jasmin, was very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend both the workshop and this restaurant!
The most beautiful hidden gem. Amazing to arrive by boat and relax on it afterwards. PS. The staff made our day. So helpful, welcoming, relaxed and just top notch :) Helped us dock our boat so we could come, remembered it was my friends birthday and brought her a candle and sang for her. Made us feel very welcome and special and the day was beautiful ever after :) Thank you!
Our May 2024 visit by boat to a private lunch at Grotto San Rocco was one of the highlights of our group’s tour of Switzerland. The owners were lovely, the setting was magical!
Incredible spot. It’s a drive to get there but we loved the scenic ride and it was well worth it. We came early April and the sun set around 7:30pm so we had incredible sun until late. The staff is incredibly friendly and all the food we had was amazing. We’ll be back :)
This is a really special place. On the negative side, it is tricky to access by road -- I certainly wouldn't like to do the drive in the dark. Plus parking is very limited: We had to park about ten minutes walk up the hill as the car park was full (5 cars!). So for a dinner sitting the only real option is by boat. It is served by the public boat service, but this certainly adds to the cost of the meal. However, the accessibility actually contributes to how special the place is: Firstly, the location is amazing (see photo), secondly it means that they go the extra mile because they can't rely on passing tourist trade! The service was truly exceptional -- Every request was dealt with in a friendly, professional way, and always made every member of our party, young and old, feel special and welcome. The food was very good, but the portions could be more generous, I felt. For example, the mixed and green salads were much smaller than equivalents I've had at other grottos in Ticino. Also I guess I would have to say that the prices are a little too high, especially when you take portion size into account. However, because the whole experience was so nice, I'm really having to scrape the barrel to find fault with it! If I ever buy a boat I'll be coming here every week!
Great food, phenomenal view, very nice staff. We had the gazpacho, pork cheek, risotto, and one of their pastas. All delicious. Great place to enjoy a long lunch or dinner. Plenty of shade, too!
Beautiful place to watch the sunset over the lake and of course to eat a good meal. We had the mixed platter with delicious hams and cheeses. Followed by a fish of the day (bass) and a local interpretation of the Bolognese. Super delicious, well balanced and felt fresh. Desert was great as well! Easily accessible by the weekend dinner tours from Lugano harbour. 140Fr for two people for 3 courses and wine.
First time at a Grotto in Lugano and it was well worth it. We were five people and shared multiple items from the menu which all we’re delicious. The price was good for the portion as well as the quality. The staff was friendly and knew English, Spanish and Italian. Table was right on the lake with excellent views. Next time I am in Lugano I will return. The boat ride to the grotto was also greatly priced. Also a tip if you are a wine lover order the house red wine you will not regret it🙂👍🏻
Amazing Pasta and an even better view. I wholeheartedly recommend this place! Though come by boat, the road is extremely narrow and steep.

Perfect panorama, delicious dishes and the friendliest staff (as attached 😄). The Guanciale was superb, some portions are a bit small however. The menu is quite short, but the variety is great with the daily options.

Do not go here if you expect service. Half the menu is not available they said the refrigerator was broken. We were basically invisible to them.
Good food but very expensive not worth the price. Good staff but the owner has a bad attitude towards German people.
