First visit to Iron Chef Japanese Steak House in Puyallup, WA — we were excited to celebrate our granddaughter’s 13th birthday at this popular local hibachi restaurant. The atmosphere was family-friendly, modern, clean, and welcoming, and we were seated promptly once our full party arrived. The spacious dining room and separate bar area made it feel comfortable and well-organized, making it a great option for birthdays, family gatherings, and special occasions. We ordered several hibachi entrées, and the hibachi chef delivered an energetic and entertaining performance with impressive knife skills, fun fire tricks, and great interaction with the entire table — especially the birthday girl. The show added a lot to the overall experience and kept everyone engaged. The food was fresh, flavorful, and served in generous portions, and everything came out hot and well-presented. We finished with strawberry ice cream for dessert, which was a perfect way to wrap up the celebration. Our server and hibachi chef were friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect throughout the meal. If you’re looking for a great hibachi restaurant in Puyallup, Iron Chef Japanese Steak House is definitely one worth adding to your list. We would happily return and highly recommend it.

No real wait, good food, very open restaurant (lots of space), I found the cook very entertaining. Don't know if the other patrons did. He had a very well put together dry humor routine. Had me chuckling out loud. Prices a little heavy, ok though for a good dinner and entertainment.

We love Iron Chef. Great experience for the family and the food is always amazing. I have Celiac Disease and they are always super accommodating, making sure my food is made first, showing me the sauces they are using to make me more comfortable and then making the rest of the dinner with regular ingredients.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Had an amazing dinner at Iron Chef! Our chef, Issac, was not only incredibly talented but also made the whole experience fun and engaging from start to finish. What really stood out was how attentive the entire staff was—after dinner, Daniel noticed us taking photos and came over to offer to take a group shot for us. Such a thoughtful and unexpected gesture! The food was delicious, the service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was great. Definitely coming back!

Loved the yummy food!! The chef was fun and interactive. Be prepared to pay an average of $35-$40 per person but plenty of food. Steak and shrimp were yummy.

Went here for my 45th day around the sun with family and friends. I gotta say everything was amazing. We had a lot of fun and 4 take home box's of wonderful food. One of the hostesses was Isabell, I believe, and she is stunning gorgeous. I didn't get a chance to tell her that she's beautiful. She was also excellent with our order and keeping our drinks full. Our chef was Miguel, and he could do all kinds of tricks! What an amazing cook! He was cracking us up. There is not a whole lot of parking here, but if you walk a little, you can park by Meridian and walk up. The rock sidewalk on the korner connects.

Second time here and enjoyed it as much as the first. Awesome workers, funny professional chefs, and amazing food. I brought my mother here while she visited. She loved every bite

We absolutely love the entire experience here. The food, the presentation, the staff - it's great from start to finish. We had a favorite in Vancouver, and this beats it hands down. Highly recommend going. Reservations are good, but walk-ins are always welcome.

Delicious food, quality service and lovely hospitality! Not only were the portions fulfilling but it was cooked fantastically. In our group we got all the different meats, which were all cooked to perfection. By far the best chicken and scallops I've had - they also take allergens seriously; as a member of the party was allergic to shellfish. Their meat was cooked before the shellfish ever touched the grill. Something I've yet to see at other facilities we have ate at such as this. Nice to see them go the extra step to ensure their customers safety and enjoyment!

Incredible. Quite possibly the best plate of food I have ever had. My son and I each ordered the lobster, shrimp and filet. The chef made it fun but the taste made it unforgettable. The price was right and I can't wait to go back. Fantastic restaurant.

Absolutely unforgettable! This past Saturday’s date night at Iron Chef was hands-down the best experience we’ve ever had — all thanks to Sparkle. From the moment we sat down, he brought unmatched energy, incredible skill, and a level of showmanship that made the entire evening feel magical. Every dish was cooked to perfection, and watching Sparkle work was like watching a true artist. He made us laugh, kept the vibe fun, and turned dinner into a night to remember. If you’re lucky enough to get Sparkle as your chef, you’re in for a five-star experience. We’ll be back just for him!

This was a super cool eating experience! All of the staff were friendly, helpful, and prompt. Our chef was AMAZING!!! He's worked at Iron Chef for over 10 years, and it shows! He was so talented, energetic, interactive, and just plain FUN! The food was super tasty. It was a lot of fun to watch it be made! We were really surprised at how quiet it was in there, given the fact that there were at least three other tables full of people with their own chefs making a bunch of noise. All said, it's a great place to take the family/ kids or someone you want to take out for a good time.

I’ve visited this restaurant at least a half dozen times in the last year. Great food, great service, and entertaining chefs. Overall, I’ve had many great dining experiences here. Highly recommended.

We had so much fun here! The food and service were amazing. We celebrated my son’s 16th birthday and they made the night memorable. Thank you!!

A wonderful hibachi experience. The chefs all have unique performance and take allergies and preferences seriously. If you have the money, it's worth the experience.

We went last weekend for my husband’s birthday and had the most enjoyable experience! We made a reservation in advance, but the service was extremely quick and accommodating. The food was 10/10 with the special yum yum sauce. They had a fun little celebration for my husband’s birthday! I was a little worried based off of other reviews but I don’t have a single complaint.

Great place for a date night or family dinner! Clean place and good service . The chef was funny and friendly. Seating was limited so reservation is the best way to save a seat. Fried rice is the best in the area ! Portions were small for the price tho. Fried rice was very small . We were seated with 5 other people but we were still far from each other . Everyone on our table noticed the rice portions . Some had to pay for side of white rice to complete . Will definitely go back.

This is your typical hibachi restaurant. They take reservations so you don’t have to wait very long. Their bar is closed so if you were planning on coming early to grab a drink, it’s not going to happen. They do serve drinks at the table. They have barriers separating everyone sitting at the table and have limited the amount of seats allowed. The food was very good and the entertainment was awesome!

D
David Ray

You go for the show and not the food. It was okay, just not great. The entertainment factor is very high, but not worth the $300 for 6 people when looking at the food quality.

This review is from someone who's eaten abroad in Japan and Korea. I ordered steak and chicken. The quality and tenderness of both meats were perfect. I wish there were more seasoning that were used but the flavor was still good. The yum yum sauce is top tier. The gentleman that prepared the meals was quick, cooked the steak exactly how I asked and threw in several jokes. Prices were reasonable. Be prepared to sit with others you dont know if you're not in a huge group.

Would’ve gave everything a five star, but the server named Marta was very rude and when I asked for another drink for me and my fiancé was treated poorly and was told I was lucky to get the second drink when I just got there and had reservations at 7:45 and she had a poor attitude from the start and was only nice when she brought the bill

We had a party of 8 of good friends and family. We loved our chef, the only red head chef there! The food was great and he was super helpful. The area that was lacking was our server who had a bad attitude and made multiple errors. I would have rated higher but when that is happening it effects the meal for everyone. Will we go back, yes, we just hope with a different server or maybe catch her on a better day as everyone has an off day once in awhile.

Super fun great food and fast and friendly service. But portion size of food was kinda of skimpy and chef came back and was kinda cocky.

I’ve always like this place because the food was good. We had a recent experience where we asked if we could give our three year old chicken nuggets and was told no. I understand no outside food but then have a kids menu or allow an exception. Most kids don’t want grown-up food.

I wish I could comment on someone else's review as we had the same experience. Our cook was amazing. He was fun and energetic and made my 11 year old daughter feel so special on her birthday. But our waitress was one of the rudest women we have ever met. She made it clear that we were a burden from the moment we sat down. She asked us twice in 5 minutes what we wanted to eat, we were a party of 7, we ordered our drinks but didnt even have time to read the menu. When we say it was less than 5 minutes , that is not a exaggeration. She stormed of saying "oh my God". When it came time for my daughters song, she tossed the tambourine on the table. She was fine during the drum, but you could still tell we had been a burden to her. For $50 a person I don't think we will be back. Its sad it used to be our go to, not just for celebrations, but for dinner out.

J
Jeff Kiser

As much as my family teases me about it I still choose to have my birthday dinner here every year. I even order the Imperial ever year as you get a good variety of beef, lobster, and shrimp. The food and service are always excellent. I don’t know what was going on this year with the cook. . Instead of the filet mignon I was served regular steak and it was overcooked and my mother I law was served filet mignon instead of chicken. I was going to complain there but my oldest persuaded me to blow it off. Not to mention it took 40 minutes from the time we were seated for the cook to show up. I know it sounds insignificant but I now i probably will never eat there again.

B
Bill Evans

Our chef was the least entertaining we have ever had and this was by far the most bland fried rice we've ever been served. Even the bar helper was rushed and somewhat rude. We have had very good experienced here before so I hope this was just a bad night rather than an overall decline.

J
Jessie Boyd

Talented chefs, some more then others. 4 waitresses and took forever to refill sodas while only 2 grills were being used. Food tasted alright and plenty of it though.

This place was our go-to for special occasions. We were disappointed in our last visit for our sons birthday. The food and cook were great, but when it came time for making it feel special for my sons birthday, the waitress asked him if he really wanted a drum and song. Like...making him feel like its a burden. Then asking if he really wants ice cream/candle or a cake. Like its a whole burden. The whole celebration experience is just not there anymore. Spend $250 and was disappointed.

M
Matthew Whitney

We had a decent experience, but as a business, this place is lacking. The food was super salty (typical) for teriyaki. The birthday celebration for my child was a solo act by our server (who was great), while the others avoided it. Most of all, it is heavily overpriced and not advertised, as when they ask whether you want fried rice or noodles with your meal, it is an added extra, so beware. Every person asking for friend rice or noodles (everyone does) with their already expensive meal will be an additional $6 per person for answering.

I love this hibachi restaurant it is the only one I go to, from now on I will reconsider if I am going with my significant other. Tonight me and my boyfriend decided to treat ourselves since we are visiting from college and I truly had a terrible experience with a specific hostess with black hair and thick eyelashes with white on the outer corners. After repeatedly not refilling our drinks and only coming to our table to Joke with one specific husband with another group at our table, the wife of said husband called her out for not refilling our drinks and flirting with her husband the entire dinner to which she was forced to announce that she “is just having fun” and “always picks someone to pick on, typically a man because they “ are more responsive or something( I can’t quite remember what word she used) and continues to point to my boyfriend and say she could tell he was more reserved so she didn’t play with him too much too which I responded “ yeah, we don’t do that”. She walked away with our cards and came back walked up to the corner with my boyfriend and the husband and asks my boyfriend when his birthday is he says summer to which she responds “my birthdays in summer too! We have to celebrate together you guys should come here!” During this whole conversation she was very clearly smirking at me the entire interaction and trying to get a reaction out of me. I found this extremely disrespectful and disturbing as she had already been called out for flirting with someone else’s husband and I had already vocally drawn that line for me and my man. At the end of the day I would expect staff to behave like this at low end restaurants like Dennys or IHOP not an expensive hibachi restaurant.

Well… where to start? Chef Sparkles was amazing! We never did get our miso soup. No one at our table got it. Just the cold little salad. Food was ok. Small portions! Skip this place and drive to Tokyo in Federal Way!!!! You’ll be happy you did!

L
Luke Mead

Our daughter and her husband love this place, and we can't figure out why. Although the chef was funny and very entertaining, the food was blah. Lack of flavor and wow... for the price, it's not worth it. Do yourself a favor and take a drive to Federal Way to Tokyo's Japanese Steakhouse, the food is so much better.

The service really depends on the waitress you get. We've only been here once, and I could tell right away that there were waitresses that actually did their job and there were some that didn't. Depending on who you get, it can really make a difference on your dining experience. We were really craving hibachi and our normal to go spot, Samurai's in Spanaway was booked, so we gave this place a try. The food was okay, but it did not compare to Samurai's. The rice lacked flavor and didn't feel like fried rice, and we didn't like the yum yum sauce. We probably won't ever go back, which is sad because we're really close by, but if you're charging top dollar for one meal, then I expect to eat some delicious food with flavor bursting in my mouth.

My family took me here for the first time for my birthday last Saturday. We had a reservations for seven We were not seated until almost 8:00. Then our waitress took her order and drinks. She then came back gave us our drinks and we never saw her again. Till the end of the night. Our chef felt like he hurried through dinner he missed half my husband's food. My husband told him it was my birthday as well as the waitress and nothing special was done. That was a disheartening. The food which I ordered the most expensive thing on the menu My shrimp was overcooked my lobster was rubber and my filet mignon was well under seasoned. All in all not a great experience will not be returning!!!!

Food is ok not good enough to come back but ok. Portions are small compared to other restaurants. Be aware there is a $7 fee per chair even when your 2 year old doesn’t order.

The hostess was very cold and impatient, acted like she was perturbed we were even there. We had reservations... I ordered my grandson the chicken on the childs menu, she asked his age hes 11. Their childs menu is 10 and below! Most plases its 12 and below. So we ordered his on the adult menu. He got 1 tiny bowl of white rice, 2 little shrimp, and 1/2 of spatula of vegtables if that even, and 5 pieces of chicken chunks... mean while my grandaughter who is 6 ordered from the childs menu. Her plate was so piled full. So we paid double for less food. And were still hungry when we left. We will never go there again!!! And their prices are outrages for what you get!!!

M

DO NOT go here! We went for my birthday tonight with the family and our kids. I told the waitress I wanted water and immediately she made me feel guilty for wanting water. She rolled her eyes at me and then asked my husband three times if he wanted water after he said, he just wanted water. WORST part — The guy lost control of the spatula, which then hit the sauce and completely Dumped it all over my hair and all over my shirt. Never said sorry. I was covered!!! I was shocked. Also never got a birthday wish and other tables were getting sung to this place is terrible. Do not go here!!!! 👎

I could honestly cry from how miserable this experience was. My wife and I were so excited to try Iron Chef Steakhouse for her birthday—we even made a reservation. But from the moment we were seated, things just started going downhill fast. Our waitress approached us with an awkward, almost uncomfortable energy that set a strange tone for the night. The menu was surprisingly small, but we figured we'd share a steak and scallop combo with noodles—something we've done at other teppanyaki-style places without issue. Right away, the waitress made sure to point out the $7 sharing fee, which felt a little unnecessary but whatever, we were still hopeful. Then we waited. And waited. Starving. Eventually the chef came out—talked way too much and kind of killed the vibe. It felt like a show for him, not for us. And here’s where things started to feel off: he began cooking for the other family at our table first. Not sure if it was because they ordered full meals, but it definitely felt like we were being treated differently. Then came the whole "catch the broccoli in your mouth" bit. I missed a few times and clearly wasn’t into it—but he just kept going. At some point it stopped being fun and just felt awkward. The portion of noodles we got was laughable. It was smaller than a kid’s portion and we were expected to split that between two hungry adults? The steak and scallops were divided too, but with barely any noodles, the meal was all grease and no balance. On top of that, the steak wasn’t cooked properly and the scallops were underdone. Both my wife and I felt sick the entire night after. Despite leaving almost everything on our plates, they were quick to clear them, making us feel rushed. Even the ice cream for my wife's birthday was underwhelming—a single tiny scoop with a candle stuck in it. No song, no gesture, nothing that made it feel special. Just something slapped together and clearly not done with care. Then came the final insult—the bill. We were charged an unexpected $5 upcharge for the noodles the waitress never mentioned. Then, after running my card, she came back and said, “Oops, forgot to charge you the $7 sharing fee.” So now I’m questioning whether the $5 charge was real at all. It felt shady, dishonest, and just the cherry on top of a frustrating night. Oh—and the strawberry lemonade? Disgusting. All in all, for one tiny piece of steak, a couple of scallops, some vegetables (mostly onions), and a laughably small scoop of noodles—with all the upcharges—it came out to nearly $70. SEVENTY DOLLARS. And we left hungry, sick, and mad. That price would’ve been fine if the food, service, or experience were even remotely good—but it was just insult after insult. We left heartbroken that this was how my wife’s birthday turned out. I rarely write reviews, but this was hands-down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. Save yourself the money, the stomach ache, and the regret.

We go here for special occasions but this time it was so disappointing. Service was HORRIBLE. They charged us an auto gratuity I guess that is why we never saw our server. She already had her money. We never got refills on our $4 water. We didn't get utensils. 3 people at our table had to go to the bar to get them because she never came to help us except to get us to pay. It was my sons birthday which I told them when making the resy and again to server. They didn't even acknowledge him or even give him maybe some ice cream. To spend $200 for every 2 people and there were 8 of us. So close to 1,000 for a table for dinner and have this horrible service so NOT worth it. We will be finding other restaurants to celebrate our special occasions. So sad, but on the good note the food was great and the chef was super nice.

I was very excited to try this place out. My experience was the worst… The waitress is by far the worst service I have gotten. I will make sure to tell all my family and friends to stay away. It is a joke that they charge $7 for my 9 month old to just sit here with us and not order he anything. They said it was a sitting charge. I payed over $200 for my bill yet they still wanted to charge me $7 for my kid to sit… STAY AWAY!!!
