Best Ecuadorean food! If you want a taste of the culture, this is the place to go. Authentic and delicious. We had tried the tasting menu, which was great to experience a little bit of everything the menu has to offer. Beautiful presentation. Nice view as well. 10/10 recommend. The ceviche pescado and locro were my favorite. Friendly and helpful service

I’ve been to Miskay 4 times in my short 2-weeks stay in Quito. The service is excellent and the food both tasty and well presented. The staff is really polite and friendly, and make your evening feel special. I wish I was staying longer so that I could work my way through the whole menu. I highly recommend the ceviche, seco de chivo, empanadas, fanesca (only during Easter) and the desserts as well. They also have a nice selection of beers!

So nice we went twice! Food, service, and presentation were fantastic. Highly recommend if you’re in Quito. The trout, seafood rice, ceviche, and empanadas were delicious.

Attention!!!! This is the restaurant you’re looking for!!! The interior is attractive, clean, and extremely comfortable. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed. Their warmth is genuine. The prices are not inflated for tourists, they perfectly match the value. If you’re like us, we wanted to eat authentic/traditional Ecuadorian food prepared well, and the chance to try as many traditional dishes as possible. If that’s what you’re looking for, this menu has you covered!! It had almost all of the famous Ecuadorian dishes we had on our list to try. The presentation was lovely. Most of all? The follow up. Everything was delicious (and we ended up coming two nights in a row)! This is the restaurant you’re looking for! PS My father and I both thought their potato soup was the best we’ve ever had.

The best food I had in Ecuador & great opportunity to try traditional dishes. Excellent value. I went alone one night & returned the next with my travelling companion because the food was so good. Simple decor - nothing fancy but clean & cheerful with attentive servers. Somewhat sketchy walk down poorly lit streets to get there. Worth it.

They mixed up my order and gave it to someone else, so had to prepare mine again, meaning almost everyone else in my party was finished eating by the time it arrived, however it was delicious and worth the wait. Probably our best meal in Quito.

What a find! This really is a very special restaurant, the service first class, the food simply a joy and all very well priced. Bonus feature, they speak very good English and the menu also carrys a translation.

Food was amazing, they brought out a lovely complimentary iced tea and then a light appetizer with a chocho dip. I am vegetarian and they can make a lot of dishes vegetarian. It was amazing. My boyfriend got the cuy (guinea pig), he said it was very good and tender. We shared an appetizer of the potato soup, locro quiteño. We recommend canelazo (a warm drink that reminds me of hot apple cider, spiked). When you come to the restaurant don’t be deterred if it looks closed, it’s on the third floor! Worth the walk.

Great spot, definitely recommend. The entrance doesn’t do this place justice. Once you get into the restaurant you won’t be disappointed. I went local and tried the Guinea Pig, it was great. Lots of excellent choices on the menu. Service was excellent and very helpful. The waiter spoke perfect English.

We had the 5 step tasting menus for 2. The quality and presentation of each course was outstanding and got our praise. The waiter spoke excellent English and explained the origin of all ingredients, representing the different provinces of Ecuador. It’s not an exaggeration: we had here one of the best meals for a long time.

Miskay restaurant was recommended to us. Although tailored for turist, it didn't disappointed us. We have been pleasently surprised by service. Everyone was so nice and friendly, especially from Washington.  What a lovely, hard working man who did try to satisfy everyone. He was attentive, informative and spoke fluent English. Food was nice, starting from entry to the sweets. Good place to try Ecuadorian food. Also, here was a good list of drinks for everyone. Well done. We shall come back for more

Did a little research on restaurants are the Marriott where I’m staying. Miskay really stood out. So took the short walk enjoying Quito to Miskay. What a great choice. From the moment I walked in I knew it was going to be good. Was kindly greeted, sat at great table over looking a square. Was served 2 complementary items, a delicious tea that is known to help with altitude and some local bread with a yummy sauce. Miskay prides itself in serving local healthy food. The ceviche was outstanding served with plantain chips, popcorn and toasted corn. Then I had a delicious pumpkin soup. Even the local beer was great. Service was outstanding. Great start to my visit to Ecuador.

This was recommended by our hotel (Hilton) and our tour guides. They said it was authentic and the quality is high! We loved the potato soup, ceviche, the guinea pig, and fish plates. Great service, good beer, wine, and cocktail selections.

I was on a solo trip to Ecuador and this restaurant was recommended to me to try cuy; it did not disappoint! They were about to close when I arrived but honoured my reservation and reopened the kitchen providing amazing and friendly service. I absolutely loved the complimentary chilled herbal tea they offered at the beginning of my meal and asked to buy some more to take home from the restaurant, the owner instead gave me a big bag of the tea leaves and refused to take money for it. Super kind! My server Elvi was wonderful: she explained everything on the menu that I asked about, offered recommendations, chatted with me as I was alone at the restaurant and even waited with me for my taxi after I was done to make sure I was safe. I really appreciated her taking the time to do that after a full day of work. The food was so good! It was my first time trying cuy and I liked the way they cooked it. I also recommend the fig dessert. Overall, a wonderful experience. Great owners and staff. Thank you so much Elvi and Enrique!

Lovely little restaurant in Quito. They were one of the few restaurants open on the 1st of January. The waiter was lovely and explained us all the dishes. The owner was so kind to order us an uber back to the hotel even though it was just a 5 min walk. He advised against walking late at night. Food wise we got the vegetarian option. Great flavours and a lot of local options.

This is a very nice restaurant recommended by a local. The server serves authentic Ecuadorian food. They were fully booked (on a Saturday) but opened an extra table just for us. Considering how busy it must have been that night, service was still pretty quick. We had the cerviche trilogy, the goat and the white fish. All were excellent. The atmosphere was great, no very loud music or anything. Prices were absolutely okay for Quito. Opening hours are now 12.00-22.00 (kitchen closes around 9.15). If you want to eat here on a weekend, I would recommend booking in advance.

While touring Quito, this place was recommended by a local. I went there for lunch, and couldn’t have been more pleased. The place was clean and vibrant. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was reasonably priced and delicious. I enjoyed the Crema de la Abuela soup amd the Cariudo de Cerso entree. My friend had the Sabores de Mi Pueblo, which looked delightful. Definitely recommended if in Quito.

An authentic Eucadorian food experience on Xmas Day- delightful service by owners son, food was outstanding, beautifully presented accompanied by local beer, paired wine suggestions & delicious cocktails- very reasonably priced. Husband had a ‘Sea to land’ platter & I had a Pork Fillet with sweet potato.. highly recommend

Not just the best food I’ve had in Ecuador but some of the best food I’ve had in my life. This is traditional Ecuadorian food. The Andian Soup is a must try with a special, rich, and complex flavor. The Guinea pig was perfectly cooked and the chicken with mushrooms had a creamy perfect broth. We enjoyed the traditional figs for dessert but the really incredible one was the arroz con leche. A must try!

Wonderful Ecuadorian cuisine restaurant. We luckily made reservations at 6:30 because the place filled up by 8:00pm. Many fish choices on the menu plus several chicken. Everyone's food was tasty. The staff also helped us get taxis back to our hotel. Highly recommend!

Great little hole in the wall spot to try Guinea pig. They bring you a small glass of tea and a bread appetizer that had a delicious dip. Must try the Guinea pig. Had that and the empanadas. Great food. Great service. Chill atmosphere.

Second time back here and the staff remembered me from months ago. A great place to try cuy. They give you a free tea sample and bread. The cocktails are and food presentation is great. Perfect sized portions.

We had some really delicious traditional ecuadorian food here; we tried the ceviche, and also the goat stew which had been slow cooked for 3-4 hours, meaning the meat was soft and came with a really nice sauce. I’m a fussy eater with meat, and I loved this dish - I recommend trying it while in Quito! Our tour guide also recommended the cuy here so we are going to come back again.

2/13/23Came back after 18 months and the food was excellent!! Great place. They will also call a taxi to get you back to your hotel, which is wonderful service. Many thanks for a wonderful and delicious experience! 7/2021 Amazing service and fantastic food. Such friendly and helpful service. The presentation of the food was so beautiful but also very delicious. We ate every bite. If you are looking for an amazing meal in a wonderful atmosphere, you need to come here. Absolutely amazing!

Possibly one of the best dinners we’ve ever had - traditional Ecuadorian food! Sweet decorations that represent Ecuador, kind staff, and outstanding food. The waitress was so helpful in answering questions we had about the food and culture. The welcome lemongrass tea and bread was delicious - we ended up ordering more tea for our drink! Definitely recommend this restaurant!

We had a late dinner here and had a wonderful time. Ambience was nice, food was great, their local toddy was amazing. They invited us to take one of their ornaments on the wall as a souvenir when we were leaving. Made our day!

Great place for traditional Ecuadorian dishes. Entrance in the back. Must go up stairs to 3rd floor. Quirky and colourful decorations. Tasteful music at a decent volume so friends can converse. Service staff were excellent and went above and beyond to help customers (ex. they organized taxis for out of town travelers). Food was delicious, including the cow tongue and octopus. Multiple dishes can be converted to be vegetarian with their homemade protein as replacement 👍 Highly recommended.

Lovely authentic restaurant serving fresh and delicious food...We ordered the traditional potato soup as an appetizer, the goat stew, roast chicken with mushroom for the main course and figs with cheese for dessert. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking to try Ecuadorian home-made food. The staff were also very hospitable and friendly

Great first meal in Ecuador. Friendly, attentive service. Pumpkin soup with shrimp felt perfect for a slightly chilly day. The meat sampler was so much food but a great taste of a variety of flavors. When we left the entire restaurant team sat down for lunch and it looked like such a happy family!

Excellent authentic meal. :) Loved the Cuy - must try!! And the Fritada Miskay was delicious as well. The entire experience was great. So happy we took the short walk from the Mercure Hotel to try this place out. Get a photo at the " I ❤️ Quito " sign afterwards. You can see this from the restaurant windows. And ask about taking home a little souvenir.

We found this place by looking at reviews of new restaurants in the city. I noticed it catered a lot to tourists, which made sense given the location. From the beginning we enjoyed the experience. Since we entered and were introduced to the concept behind the restaurant. The tasty home made bread and the complimentary herbal tea raised our expectations. We were not deceived. Each and every one of the dishes we tried were delicious and unique in their own way ( the trout, the beef tongue and the arroz con leche dessert are particularly remarkable) We liked it so much that booked for dinner in a couple of days and invited my parents. Service can get a bit slow when multiple parties arrive at the same time. Definitely worth the wait. As summary this is my new favourite restaurant in Quito. I am looking forward to my next time in the city just taste again this delicious food.

Favorite meal in Quito, ate here twice. Myself (gluten free) and friend (not a seafood eater) both loved each visit. Friendly and helpful staff and a really tasty menu. Meats could be a little tough, but man is the soup DELICIOUS. Everything marked in English as well as Spanish, making it easy to eat here as a non-spanish speaker (they do cater to visitors). And the gluten free options were phenomenal (Ecuador is a challenging country for GF people). Definitely worth checking out, although be aware that stairs are required to enter.

Great place for Ecuadorian dishes made for tourists. We ate at many restaurants, street food vendors, and even took an Ecuadorian food cooking class. This restaurant has a lot to offer in terms of introducing Ecuadorian food to foreigners. If you want the most authentic Ecuadorian food, take a food tour in Quito. If you are looking for an easy night out for Ecuadorian food, this is the place. The food was delicious, the service excellent, and the price was reasonable.

A true gem! Equivalent to a Michelin Star restaurant, serving 100% local delicacies with the best friendliest and most attentive service. Wine pairing was excellent. Booked for the following night right out the door. Worth the detour even if not staying in the area.

The lemongrass tea is one of the best beverages I have ever had. The ceviche is also incredible, and the presentation is immaculate. As if that wasn’t enough, the staff could not be friendlier!

I went at lunch time when it was quiet and had the Guinea Pig. My first time and it was amazing - kind of like the darker meat from turkey but with the crispy pork crackling type skin. I’d go again. Nice free taster too nd good range of other local dosages and drinks.

K

Really good seafood dish with rice. Tasty greatly balanced flavors it was worth the trip from old town! The trio ceviche was a great way to go. My favorite there was the passionfruit. The other two were more typical the shrimp being the better of the two I believe it was the octopus that was very bland.

C

food was tasty but not amazing. would recommend the ceviche. cuy was a little bit dry. goat stew was very tasty. fig and cheese dessert a little too sweet. waiter was very nice though

Climbing the stairs up several flights, past walls painted with a variety of motifs, you finally arrive at the restaurant. We were greeted as we entered with a big smile and a warm welcome. We sat and the waitress brought us menus. We narrowed down the items and made our decisions. Unfortunately, everything I was interested in had dairy. I finally settled on the tender chicken. My wife got a salad with shrimp. We were brought a small plate of homemade flat bread and a sauce to spread. My wife said it was good, but I didn't try it. Our drinks arrived. My "passiontini" was good, but could have been a bit stronger. A short while later our food arrived. It was plated creatively. The food was good. I very much appreciated that my food came with vegetables and a small salad.

Definitely a 4 star restaurant. It's good. Nice concept. 3rd floor walk up. Staff is really attentive. Wines are little pricey. Lowest $30 to $50's. I had the goat. It was so so. Everyone else in the group liked what they had. I am a restaurant owner New York city. My expectations are little higher than my family.

Miskay delivers traditional Ecuadorian cuisine with a tourist twist. The servers speak English which comes in handy, the menu has the items translated as well making it easy for ordering. All dishes come out beautifully presented. We liked the soups. The traditional potato soup was phenomenal and the soap Andina was a good representation of a traditional Andean soup. We weren't crazy about the cuy (even though I finished it) and we didn't like the pork. I heard the empanadas are good but we didn't try them. The arroz con leche was a crazy interpretation of the rice pudding which was delicious though. The rice pudding came in a shot glass half full, the rest of it was poured over two pieces of something that looked like a Blondie. It was a good experience but we will try a different restaurant next time. The staff was friendly, the restaurant is tucked in on the third floor of a building which you enter from the back. The area is a bit shady, so definitely Uber back and forth.

Very enjoyable restaurant in a vibrant area in downtown Quito. I was impressed with the presentation of the various courses. Miskay had some very nice seafood and other main courses. Tip: you should be sure to try desserts. The chocolate dessert featured Ecuadorian chocolate. Very tasty.

We had a lovely meal. We tried the tasting menu as we are new to Ecuadorian cuisine. The food was delicious, though definitely aimed at the Western market. Our steak was cooked to perfection! A great first Ecuadorian restaurant!

Overall our experience was good. We went because they were listed as having gluten free items online. Unfortunately, they aren’t clearly highlighted on the menu, and the waiter was not familiar with gluten free (he thought it meant vegetarian). So I had to send my meal back when it arrived and clarify a few times what I needed. When the manager finally came over, he seemed to understand but it was a close call before that. My meal was fine - a bit cold. My friend who is not celiac/gluten free had the multi course tasting menu and said it was great.

K
Keith Josephson

We had high expectations with the many good online reviews but were a little underwhelmed. The service was friendly but the food was somewhat average and it seemed like almost entirely tourists dining there the night we were in, without many locals present. It wasn’t a bad meal, it just didn’t stand out amongst the other places we’d tried in Quito

N
Niklas Strid

Well received at entrance. Got a table with a wall...no window... Service was fast. Waitress was informative and had good English. Beautiful arranged white fish. Looks delicious, but lacks flavors. Did not provide the local spicy sauces to get it going. Chocolate bomb dessert was lacking the chocolate flavors... Served great local craft beer. I disregard the noisy and annoying team of Dutch people that invaded the place in my ranking. It's a good location but next time I would rather walk the extra 200m to a better place.

M
Matthew Tighe

Very popular with tourists by the sounds of things. Can see why as it's in middle of bar/restaurant area. Waiters and staff were great (fluent English as well), but the food was just very underwhelming sadly. Worth popping in if you want a solid, fairly safe option for local food, but have already had much better Ecuadorian cooking elsewhere.

A
Ann S

Ecuadorian food at North American prices, i had the white fish ceviche was salty, the mixed platter beef and pork were dry, but the rest of it was good. The goat stew was nice (on the sweeter side).

I very rarely leave negative reviews but unfortunately my family and I had a very poor service experience here tonight and wanted to share in case it might help others. The original issue was actually pretty minor. We’d ordered the empanada sampler to try all of the types of empanadas. However when we got them, we discovered that they had doubled up on the chicken empanadas instead of giving us 3 pork ones. As soon as we realized this, we notified our waitress of the mistake. It was only then that the waitress admitted that the kitchen had run out of the pork empanadas and that they had made the substitution without informing or consulting us. Once we pointed out the issue ourselves, they took no accountability for their mistake, claiming that they still brought us 9 empanadas (though clearly not the 3 of each type we had ordered). They also charged us a mandatory 10% gratuity despite their service error. The reason we’re sharing is due to the lack of professionalism in addressing what should have been a minor issue. If our waitress had simply informed us of the issue and asked us whether we wanted to keep the order with substitutions or cancel the dish, this would have been no problem at all. However, they did *not* notify us at the time of ordering or when they brought out the dish, and made no attempt to fix the issue at all when we discovered the mistake ourselves. Only after we raised the issue with the manager the second time did they remove the gratuity and $1 off of the bill. Overall, I think there are many other local businesses with much more respect for their customers to support in the area.
