Opinions de Ragin Cajun Cafe Redondo Beach
Authentic Cajun food and atmosphere that makes my Louisiana heart happy. Everything from the etouffee to the Abita is great with the seafood bisque being the best item on the menu. Friendly staff and fun vibes. Excited to see the rebrand to Redondo Beach grill and happy to hear they will be keeping the most popular Cajun items on the menu.
Enjoyed a delicious lunch before its final closure in March 2026. Boudin & Bayou Bisque are my favorite items. Cajun Kool-Aid & Hand Grenade were excellent drinks.
One last great meal at Ragin Cajun Cafe.. a huge favorite since their days in Hermosa and they are still putting out amazing food as they prepare to fade away into the South Bay history books. So much more than great food.. it is the atmosphere, the staff, and how the place makes you feel happy. The farewell Mardi Gras concert was a real treat for all the customers.. great music and great times. We will have to go on a search now for great gator.. RCC.. you will be missed and thank you for decades of wonderful memories.
MJ, my hostess was amazing. One of the managers was kind enough to visit with me. They ensured that I was happy with the food and service. I'm returning to the cafe the chance I get.
Kristina and I had a blast at Rajin Cajun Cafe in South Redondo! We grabbed our usual spots at the bar, which is the perfect place to catch a game. The energy was high with a double-header on the screens: the Lakers taking on the Clippers (tough break for Luka!) and an epic Bears comeback win over Green Bay in OT. Even though it’s a Cajun spot, we opted for Nick’s Burger with Cajun fries, and it did not disappoint—especially after experimenting with their various Cajun sauces. The highlight of the night? Seeing a bottle of Josh Chardonnay on the menu for only $30. We expected a house brand for that price, so scoring a bottle of Josh was a total win! We’ll definitely be back soon—they have a great concert lineup coming this February and March, including Journey Jukebox. Can't wait!
what a great place- the staff was very attentive and great about answering questions, drink was perfectly mixed as I'd requested extra sweet- and the grub was amazing! Highly recommended, bring a big appetite, the amount of food and options are just mind blowing! I was a little apprehensive to try the Alligator bites but i am glad i did!
Best family-owned, family-friendly restaurant! Great food, great service, great atmoshere--so fun, and what a delight! Came during Hallowe'en and the decorations were top notch! Can't wait to see Mardi Gras Season! Don't miss this spot--if you have been to NOLA, full on appreciation! If you haven't been to New Orleans, you won't even need to after the Ragin' Cajun--they brought NOLA to you! Highly recommend--and don't miss dessert!
A friend took me here for lunch about 6 weeks ago. We went at an off time.I think it was around 2. The restaurant was not super busy. Service was excellent. Love the decor. My friend and I tried a couple of dishes that we shared and I also got soup as a main entree. Food quality was excellent. The decor is straight out of New Orleans with a little bit of a beach city, CA twist... Good music playing in the background. Majority of the staff have been here a long time. It's not inexpensive, but definitely worth a visit. Would be a great place to celebrate a birthday.
Real sweet tea!!!! It’s incredibly hard to find true brewed sweet iced tea in LA County and this place serves it up sweet chilled and with a perfect wedge of lemon. Being from the south, I’ve become accustomed to sweet tea, gumbo and properly seasoned Cajun fries and this place delivers in spades! I highly recommend their N’awlins Hot Chicken Sandwich. It comes breaded or grilled and it’s perfect with crispy pickles! During my visit the server was super attentive as was the manager. They checked in on us and made sure my toddler was happy! They’re so family friendly It’s a must stop place if you’re in the South Bay Area/ Redondo Beach.
Ragin Cajun Cafe popped up on my news feed so we decided to try it. The food was amazing! Those oysters were huge. I'm from the east coast and I don't believe we grow them that big back home lol. I would definitely recommend the cornbread! The seafood boil was seasoned properly! If you're in the area stop by you won't be disappointed.
The food was very delicious. The drink was a tad sweet for an alcoholic beverage (my opinion only) but it was good. The restaurant was decorated for Halloween as well as the host having on a costume. The weather was great as well as the atmosphere. Our waiter was very pleasant and prompt.
Been here many times and its always a great experience. Atmosphere is a welcoming southern hospitality. Food is consistently delicious and there service excellent. Salvador is an excellent waiter. Very professional, accommodating, and friendly service! We love coming here for the Southern Hospitality.
This was my first time eating here and it won't be my last. My guests and I enjoyed our food. The staff is very friendly and nice. I had the smothered pork chops over rice with Mac and cheese. It reminded me of my Grandmother's. It was delicious! The chicken and sausage bisque was very good. I really enjoyed myself and for a first time visit, they did exceptional service. I will be back.

Wanted seafood for lunch near the beach & other places don’t open until after 3pm! Luckily this place was open, wasn’t crowded at all maybe 1-2 other tables. Tried the gumbalaya as an appetizer - gumbo jambalaya mix, it was just okay. The rice was on the hard side. Shrimp boil as the entree, I was pleasantly surprised because I typically eat boil in a bag seafood. THIS was delicious. Seasoning was perfect, shrimp were fresh and plump! I added sausage & asked for extra lemons & butter. I would go back for their seafood boil! Our server was Steven, he was very attentive.
Loved the atmosphere! Happened to come on the last day of Mardi Gras, and it was packed! We opted for a few dishes to share, and we really loved the Chicken and sausage gumbo, and the fried alligator was interesting to try out too. It was not my first time trying alligator, which tasted a lot softer than usual more like fish. We thought it was good but might have been a lil undercooked. Overall, decent Cajun food. Service was pretty friendly, but could be more attentive. There’s a small parking lot which fills up fast, but lots of neighborhood street parking. Would recommend making a reso since this place gets pretty packed when they hold events!
Been wanting to try this place for a while. Unfortunately went on a Friday night and they had closed early due to plumbing issues. So went back Saturday and was happy I did. Had to try that gator out, and it was so good. The pork chops and gravy OMG.... And the amount of food for the price is worth every penny. Was only disappointed with my Ragin Rum Punch it was pretty but very watery couldn't taste any liquor but had plenty of ice
Cool spot , good food, waiters and bartenders are cool. The ambiance gives you Louisiana bayou feel. I've been a few times and I haven't been disappointed.

We went because its their last days (I believe they close this weekend). Just reminded me why we had not come back. Food is good but a bit overpriced for the portions. My husband's lemonade cup was dirty- but we didnt let them know- their already closing so no point. So we paid 5 dollars for a lemonade he didnt drink. Other than the price/portion the food is good. A little of $80 bucks for what's shown. (1 lemonade only). Btw they also charge a 3% service fee for using a card (was not informed this before and its not posted)
I want to start out by saying I love the decor and service here. However, I feel like I went to a completely different restaurant from what was posted in other reviews. The food was largely flavorless. We got Okra, gator, and a seafood boil and none of it was seasoned well. I have eatin all over the world and Louisiana is one of those places and while I don't expect actual New Orleans flavor I did expect it to be better than the Angry Crabshack and it was surprisingly even more bland than that place.

It was cool. Empty, which wasn't discouraging love having the place to myself. The server was excellent. I think she was a little tipsy, but it's okay. No judgment here. I tried the gator, it's not bad, just a different texture. It's something I can have once or try once, but not a continuous thing for me. The food was bland and just needed some seasoning,
I’ve been going to Ragin Cajun for almost 30 years and even followed Steve Domingue to his different locations. Loyal doesn’t even begin to cover it. About 11 years ago, Steve sold it to another Ste…
This review is only based on the Thanksgiving fried turkey purchase we made this year. For 175 dollars my expectations for this bird were that it would be hot, juicy and flavorful. What I got was a very ill appearing bird and a few weeks of regret. I absolutely would not recommend this to anyone considering purchasing for the Thanksgiving holiday. I was extremely disappointed and the majority of it (essentially all of it) went straight into the trash. We love to support local and even donated for the daughter’s school event while there, but I’m hoping others learn from our expensive mistake.
This review is only for the Beignets because that’s all I ordered for takeout. I was very disappointed at the size and quality of them. We had purchased some the night before at Downtown Disney and they were great. Unfortunately my dog got to them before we had a chance to eat them all so I decided to give these a try. Sorry but not even close. I paid $20 plus tax for 8 of them. The Disney ones were $18 for 10 and were at least three times as big and fluffier. These were flat and tough. Looks like a nice place to eat but I won’t be ordering dessert.
