The food is yumazing! I was a little bit torn on 4 or 5 stars, because it's slightly pricey, but everything is so so so scrumptious and the service was great and the margaritas delightful. Seating has both stools and shorter armless chairs, so there are accessible options. Parking isn't always the easiest. The menu accommodates different dietary needs from vegan to omnivore. Note: I do not give 5s frequently, so when I do it reflects just how fricking delicious the vegetarian options were and that the rest of the experience was equally enjoyable. Because I'm often out with omnivores, I get their input too before handing over the 5. Y'all need to try this place! Flavorful, layered, creative, Mexican Mexican food. ¡Riquíssimo!
We really enjoyed this place. Excellent food and service. They have some really nice authentic meals from the Puebla region. It was a bit noisy but that's partly attributable to the mariachi band so well worth it!
I have been here a couple times, I'm surprised I haven't reviewed it yet. This place is really lovely, the food is delicious, it is definitely upscale Mexican food, but the quality is worth the price. Definitely make a reservation, gets really crowded and is very popular. We loved all of our dishes (the mole is outstanding!), and the service was wonderful. Do save room for dessert, I dream about the flan!
If you’re looking to eat authentic Mexican food, go no where else! Food was brilliant. Menu is extensive and all of them are great. Guacamole was so fresh particularly. Service was quick. Overall absolutely recommend! Will come back again and again when I crave Mexican!!
Quinto Sol has been consistent in the quality of the food, drinks and the deserts. Great place for a nice dinner with friends and family. The waiters are top notch, and provide amazing service. Would highly recommend.
Great place to have dinner in Redwood City before a show. Same franchise as Vive Sol in Mountain View but a much better ambience. Mole Poblano was rich and slightly spicy perfect for me with Spanish rice and beans. Grandmas chicken was sweet and offset the Mole. Our friends loved their Mole Enchiladas and Veg Mole. Margaritas were strong. Picante was sweet and spicy. Service was good. Plenty of parking nearby. Only thing I did not like was that they do not take reservations and after the seated us after 20 min wait it took about 10 min before some e came to our table.
Friendly, cozy, warm fun atmosphere! Great for children, grand parents! Broad selections...you'll enjoy the flavorsof what ever region that represents Mexico!
Our experience was great. We were seated immediately, and the waiter was really friendly and helped us with the order placing and the food was delivered in the right amount of time, giving us enough time for the conversations. Great ambiance and a great place to have a dinner.
Been years since I’ve been here and it’s still very good! Great service, atmosphere and food! Had the sea bass and it was amazing! Bear rice and beans I’ve had in a long time! Need to come this direction more often! Bf had the chicken salad and he said it was really good and dressing is to die for!
I have trouble with spicy food so I don't come here too often, but they do have a few dishes that I just love. Their x-rated margarita is wonderful! The guacamole is a must. And I don't know if he's a regular, but the night we were there, they had a live musician playing the saxophone, and he was wonderful, at one point he played Happy Birthday at a celebrating table, and he did a beautiful job of it! So often, that song sounds like a funeral dirge... But this time it was hauntingly lovely. I hope you will try this gracious and delicious restaurant, and enjoy it as much as I have.
Quinto Sol is a remarkable destination for those seeking an elevated Mexican culinary experience. From the moment you step inside, the lavish décor and carefully curated ambiance captivate your senses. The interiors seamlessly blend traditional Mexican artistry with contemporary elegance, creating an inviting yet luxurious atmosphere perfect for any occasion. The food at Quinto Sol is nothing short of extraordinary. Every dish is a testament to authenticity and flavor, crafted with meticulous attention to detail. The enchiladas were an absolute standout—perfectly balanced with tender fillings and rich, flavorful sauces that left us wanting more. Their use of cherished family recipes, particularly their grandmother’s specialties, adds a personal and heartwarming touch to the menu that is simply unparalleled. A delightful highlight was the trio of salsas served with crispy chips. While all were flavorful, the green salsa stood out as a revelation—vibrant, fresh, and unlike anything I’ve ever tasted. It alone is worth the visit! The restaurant's cleanliness and upkeep are impeccable, further enhancing the dining experience. However, parking can be a bit challenging, so plan accordingly. Overall, Quinto Sol is a must-visit for its unparalleled blend of authentic flavors, stunning ambiance, and exceptional service. A true masterpiece in Mexican dining!
This is one of our favorite Mexican Restaurants every time we get together in San Mateo. It's in Redwood city. The only thing negative about this place is to find a parking space. Most of the street parkings are closed off due to being worked on. I had to park 2 long blocks away and walk in the cold and light rain LOL. Anyhow, the restaurant is nice, high ceiling and quite big. The hosts are quite pleasant and helpful. We had to wait for all members of our party showed up to be seated even with reservation. The place is quite noisy from birthday parties to just plain get together like ourselves. The appetizers are quite tasty, we liked the nachos, guacamole, very rich and filling. The chips are light and crispy with 3 dipping salsa dishes. My Margarita was quite good although they only offer on rocks and not blended. Let me warn you, the dinner plates are very big, if you have the appetizer, it's better to order a la cart instead of the whole combo plates of any kind. You'll be taking some home for lunch the next day. I ordered the fish taco plate, the fish wasn't breaded fried, not crispy like some other restaurants, but with all the veggies, quite tasty and no fish smell. The rice and beans were great, but it's big so I took the rest home for lunch. Everyone in my family ordered different plates and they're all huge and delicious from wet burritos, shrimps, salads, etc. The prices are a little high, average $30 a plate, but for the restaurants atmosphere, the area, I think it's reasonable. The important thing is the service is attentive, fast, pleasant and the foods are excellent, except the walk back to our cars on the street. I've been here twice and I do like it. We'll always come here if Mexican food is desired.
This place was packed on a Thursday night! We made a reservation and were seated quickly. We ordered some great guacamole as an appetizer. Most of us got tacos as an entree. I didn’t enjoy mine very much, it was more lettuce than meat. The beans and rice were good, though. My friend got shrimp enchiladas and loved them so I may try that dish if I go back. The chocolate flan was excellent. It was very noisy in the restaurant and the people at the table next to us were yelling and speaking loudly so it wasn’t the best experience. Nice decor and the service was excellent. I’ll try it again and choose something different.
We came here after work, 600pm, for HH and dinner today. I couldn't decide between the camarones but finally went with the camarones al cilantro from the Google pictures/reviews. I paired it with the anejo tequila flight cuz I've been wanting to try the La Familia. The camarones al cilantro was very good but short on wow factor, barely grazing a 4.5/5 overall for platter. As for the price, I would have to agree with some reviews as being pricey for what you get. Guacamole seemed fresh and good, 4/5. The coctel camarones was delicious and fresh, 4.5/5. All items we had were quite good but seemed to be over price for the food. The drinks, margarita, Hendricks Tom Collins, and anejo flights were very reasonable. Our server, Godinez, provided 5/5 service. Overall, 4.5/5.
My friends and i couldn't make up our minds so we decided to try something new. Originally we were going to go to milagros but was recommended here by a teacher so I said why not. The seating was fairly quickly since they had just opened. The person who gave us our water and chips didn't welcome us but our waiter was really nice. She was attentive I did notice they both were always checking in on us. Maybe they needed the table or looking to see if we needed anything else. I got a shrimp cream a recommendation by the waiter and my other two friends got chiles con crema and camarones a la diabla I got a bit of both the food wasn't so great. I love cooking and this was bland not much flavor. My plate had 8 shrimps in total with basic traditional black beans and rice. They offered tortillas but I declined. The first alcohol drink I got was paloma and wasn't a big fan. After that I ordered margarita on the rocks. It was better than the original one. Over all we gave them a good tip for the service. Flan desert was ok. I wouldn't come here again glad I gave it a try tho at least I can say I've been there and not a big fan.
we went here for Friday dinner. The ambience is great and vibe is lively . We had to wait for around 30 minutes for a table. Server staff is great and friendly. The food on the other hand is mediocre, it’s Tex mex not authentic Mexican food. Cheese in everything. They give complimentary chips and salsa. Salsa is creamy liquid like not chunky. The only option of fish tacos you have is $25 entree under “specials” and not anything less than that. Not worth the price in my opinion. For a combo of $19 the tacos they serve has only meat options which is interesting that obvious choice in taco is not fish. It seems like this is great place if you want to grab cocktails/drinks with some light appetizers.
I ordered the Ensalada Sol with pulled chicken and was shocked to find multiple bones in it. I nearly choked on one and brought it to the staff’s attention, thinking they’d be concerned for customer safety. Instead, the manager said it was normal and it is what it is. Completely unacceptable and careless. I won’t be returning.
