Not a fancy place. Just great food at good prices.
Fantastic little hole in the wall! Excellent food and super attentive staff!
Had the General Tso’s chicken. Best I’ve had in the area
I love this place! I've been going to them for 10 years! I love the staff!
Perfect rice noodle! Love it! The beef rice noodle is super authentic!
Very good food if you know what you're ordering
Love this place. Black Pepper Tofu soup is great.
Fantastic food, best sesame chicken I've had.
Great spring rolls and hot, steamy sub gum wonton soup. That's what I know about Ming's . It's enough .
Taiwanese Style soup is really Taiwanese style. Both noodle soups we got were v. good.
Fried rice wasn't great, but the rest of the order was magnificent!
Delicious dishes here! I especially love the noodle soups and stir frys!
Always amazing. Veggies are fresh, noodles are out of this world
Great Chinese food. The szechuan wontons are the best outside of New York city
Authentic Cantonese! Also has a wide selection of Asian meals in general! Great cooks, cool people, consistently delicious. Small joint fyi
Best Chinese food. Egg drop soup, seseme chicken, chicken and green beans, wings—- everything is sooooo yummy. Family owned and so sweet to customers.
My parents are long time supporters of this family. I've continued to support and love showing others. Great food great prices support a local family
Been coming here for years and it's always great. I always get the House Special Hong Kong noodles.
Seriously the best Chinese takeout restaurant in the area!!! The egg rolls are my favorite around, fried to perfection!
The food we got was great and reasonably priced! I recommend the lemongrass tofu.
Very clean, very quick service and very good fresh food! Family owned and operated and it’s shows in a great way!!
Great food, especially the cold sesame noodles. Help a local place with your patronage and get some food to go.
Mings is a staple Chinese restaurant for me in Rochester. The insanely cheap meals and both delicious and very filling.
Great food at a great price. Three flavor chicken and pho chicken noodle soup were delicious.
Once again was suprised by the amazing customer service... Strawberries AND a fortune cookie for dessert, and the curry beef noodles was soooo tasty!
By far one of the best restaurants we encountered on our trip. Food was excellent!
Authentic. I'd recommend any of their stir fry noodles. The steamed dumplings were excellent as well
Very small, but everything was fresh tasting and the food came out pretty quick. We would come back!
Superb Cantonese, very consistently delicious across their wide range of menu items and the pricing is very reasonable.
Favorite Chinese food in the city. The sesame tofu is awesome. Would recommend!
A long-standing favorite of mine! The family that runs it is wonderful and I've loved everything I've ever had there!
I have been going here for about 5 years on and off when I have the time and I am in town. The service is great and the food comes out fresh. If your a fan of noodles or great Chinese food and you want the best in Rochester this is the place to go.
Our food was done quickly and the service was very friendly! Some dishes could use a more detailed description but overall a great experience :)
Mings is just a wonderful gem of a place. I have been going to mings and introducing friends to their food for over 10yrs now. They easily make the best chinese food in town. Everything is prepared using fresh ingredients, so there's none of this mush effect you get with the cookie cutter places microwaveable sesame chicken. The atmosphere is amazing. Yeah its small and the booths show their age, but it has so much character- you walk through the door and just feel like you're not in Rochester anymore, like you could have walked in from a street in Chinatown. The food is definitely excellent, having tasted pretty much everything else in the city, and the service is wonderful. Kelly works the front end of the establishment and is always patient, kind, helpful, and accomodating. When she recognizes a frequent customer she'll reward you with complimentary sweets at the end of your meal such as a fried banana dish, fruit, etc. On top of everything, their prices are easily the most reasonable you will find. Be sure to try the staples, but also the soft shelled crab, dragon and pheonix, and a passion fruit bubble tea!
I got takeout from here (Orange Chicken, Beef with Noodles, and fried spring rolls) and everything was delicious. The place is small, so takeout works best, but there are a few tables and you want to stay.
I go to Ming's when ever I long for comfort food. Every time I come away from a meal I feel sustatined. Ming and his family have shared their skills, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit with us for decades. Thank you.❤
Love going to Ming's. It's a little hole in the wall Chinese restaurant , the food is very good. My usual is shrimp fried rice. It's some of the best around. I also get food to go for the family every once in a while.
Very authentic Chinese food. The service is pretty good. The interiors isn't all that welcoming, but we go there for their food so it doesn't matter. Would recommend!
One of the best spots in the city. Limited sitting room inside, but they do delivery as well! I'd take them over han every time
Small location, huge taste. One of the best Chinese restaurants in Rochester. Multi-year winners of City newspaper "Best in City readers choice award"
Ming is great for lowkey dates for those seeking authentic Cantonese and Asian fusion dishes. It has VERY limited seating, but it's great if you enjoy watching people cook. Perfect for takeout, very reasonable pricing.
Fast, simple and tasty. I've been coming here for 15 years and it's been great consistently. I always order from the noodles menu: pick your protein, pick your type of noodles, and choose stir fry or soup. Minutes later, you're eating a satisfying meal.
They have all the usual fare at excellent prices for the area. Check out their noodle combinations. Staff is friendly despite being constantly busy. I live ~500ft away so it's never taken more than 10min for my order to be ready. Living that close to Ming's is a dangerously delicious constant temptation!
Amazingly delicious! Has an approachable, lived-in atmosphere of a mom and pop, a huge menu, and super fresh ingredients. We're coming back every time we're craving Asian!
Ming's is the best Asian restaurant I have ever eat. I came pretty much every weeks with my boyfriend during our one year stay in Rochester, NY and we have never been disappointed. I highly recommend the dumpling and the noodles dishes.
Small and quaint place! Food was ooooutstanding and service was perfect. Loved how it's tucked away yet easy to get to on the busy street! Stop in to try the food for your self!
Love the cozy space and they make the best won ton soup I have ever had! Also enjoy their pad thai. Man I miss all the great Asian food in Rochester.
Ordered the Moonlight Shadow, fried rice and sesame balls. So good meat so tender, good flavoring, veggies done perfectly with a little snap in them still. Sesame balls had a little something more to them and had the bean paste in them! Very tasty. I will be back to try more of the menu. Was very happy and satisfied with my meal tonight.
The owners remembered my order after not having been there for 10 years, I lived there throughout my college years, extremely affordable, extraordinarily tasty, cannot highly recommend them more. I wish I lived closer cause I’d easily go there three times a week to get the mapo tofu and the cold sesame noodles.
Got the phat thai, sesame balls, and the passion fruit tea. The noodles were so incredibly delicious, loved the bean sprouts and the spiciness. Bubble tea was both fruity and refreshing. Don't miss out on those sesame balls either, they were the perfect dessert. Can't wait to order again!
First time ordering and had it delivered in very cold snowy weather. Everything was good, well made and still HOT after sitting 5 minutes on my table while I got other things ready. The delivery came 20 minutes faster than estimated. Definitely will use it again.
Be extremely cautious if you order food "spicy" I did so and got a heaping helping of ghost peppers. Unbelievably spicy and also the best general tso I've ever had. Couldn't finish the peppers. God bless them for taking me seriously, those peppers were hot enough to have me and 5 friends gagging and weeping and blowing our noses. Extraordinary.
Ordered the General Tso Chicken and it was fantastic. their noodles were also perfect. Definitely recommend this place. It's almost a 'blink and you miss it' storefront. Very fast service and it's high quality food at better lunch special prices than you could get from fast food.
I eat here once almost every week. For cheap Chinese food, it is some of the best I have had in Rochester. I like their noodles and soups. The portions are great as well, easily 2 meals for most people. Food is ready quickly and consistently on time according to their website when you order. Best of all it's family owned by local people.
Family owned restaurant and filled with delicious menu and soup. It might be a small enclosed restaurant but the food is finger licking good. Make sure to get mango sticky rice. Friendly owner and generous with their serve. You can Never go wrong with Chinese food here. You pretty much see what's being cooked for you.
Stopped in for bubble tea, didn't try the food. Will revisit and give them a try
Very good, would go again food excellent. Very fast service.
Food was good, though the portion was large, it was a nice meal.
Great "hole in the wall" chinese place, regularly get a good meal for under $6. Fresh vegetables that change with the seasons. Always in the running when I'm looking for a place to get a meal.
Surprisingly good food for a small, not really noticeable place. We stumbled upon it while trying to find some dinner. Glad we gave it a try.
Fast and tasty as described before. The hostess was slightly rude. But still no problem with the food.
Very nice well cooked food but just like many other reviewers complaints above, the lady serving the food is super rude! That is not the way to talk to customers. The gentleman is kind and again food is worth a shot!
Noodles are good, and generous portion of meat in noodles. Other dishes are not impressive. Quality may vary some day, ordered maybe more than 20 times, there are 2 times when the food does not taste good. Price is fair, so you might give it a try. If you want to order delivery, know that their delivery is slow.
Casual eatery, quick service, quick lunch, don't break the bank. Lots of choices on the menu. Small eat in area. But it's a fun place to hang with friends for a quick bite. I like that the kitchen area is right in the main area - get to watch Ming or his son or whomever is coming to their magic. On street parking, no public bathroom IIRC, but the food and quality atmosphere is worth it.
Reasonably ok Chinese food. Not stellar but edible.
Food was okay. Veggie lo mein kinda smells/tastes like some of the ingredients might be going...out of date. Worst part is the amount of waste created by the order...all styrofoam everything, plastic forks, plastic spoons, cardboard separators, extra sauces...all unrequested...what a waste.
So, when I first came here this place would have had a much higher rating. The food is could and well priced. you can even watch the pad thai being made in real time in the skillet. Unfortunately, that was also the downfall as my gf and I watched the old man wipe his nose bare handedly while grabbing mung beans to garnish our food. Mmmmmm. I may be back, I may not. Everyone is nice and the food is good and cheap. Just haen't got over the boogs yet.
I called beforehand to see if they could do a vegan ramen. The tofu vegetable ramen was good, but somehow a couple tiny pieces of meat were in it. Next time I'll have to mention I want it completely vegan -_-
Food is just ok. Las time I ordered some pepper steak I just got a few pieces of it and more than half of the package was vegetables. It wasn't the first time it happened. There's also something I dislike very much about the sauce they use, is not tasty.
I get the weirdest vibe from the owners daughter. I stayed away for 7 yrs then came back but got the same rude treatment. The owner is a real nice guy and I like there food to. What a shame.
Food was reasonably priced (lunch special), but I ordered a dish and received something that was nothing like it. Instead it was soaked in a cheap sweet and sour-esque sauce to the point where I could taste nothing else. Disappointed.
A mom and pop type Asian fast food place.... It looked a bit dirty with some seats for about 4, I ordered my favorite dish but I didn't like
Purchased two dinner combination meals online for pickup. Ordering online it clearly states rice and egg roll included. Only to get back home and no egg rolls, I called and apparently "egg rolls cost extra, even through it says included". Normally don't write reviews but the deception really irked me. On top the food was not very good, will be going elsewhere for Chinese take out.
To other reviewers - Yall need to stop hyping up these places. Food was OK. You can call it "authentic". The flavor and cook was just not there for me. But first let's start with the actual establishment..feels very hole in the wall-ish. Cluttered, cramped, cold, tight seating. Had the pig ears after being sold on them as "crispy".. Hard no, they were gelatinous, soggy and served at like room temp.. Which when you have something that fatty just feels like greasy pork. The flavor was underwhelming, raw garlic, pepper, and big leaves of cilantro. The steamed dumplings were also lacking flavor, crudely wrapped and for 6 bucks they were tini tiny, like 1/2tablespoons of pork. I was thinking of those juicy dumplings with broth inside. The lemon grass chicken was again on the greasy sticky side, noodles were plain. Everything underseasoned. The coconut tapioca was just like warm coconut milk with pearls and the sticky rice with mango was warm slightly undercooked rice with a coconut cream and sharp hard cold chunks of slightly under ripe mango. As to the positives.. The people working here were warm and inviting, it broke my heart that the food was subpar, the hot Tokyo tea was pretty good. I don't see myself returning but you decide what works for you.
The spicy noodle soup was good but the pho on the other hand was by far the worst I ever had. The broth was flavorless, they barely give you any meat and on top of all that the portion is small. There are much better places to get pho just don’t get it from here. I recommend sea restaurant for pho, they’re one of the best in Rochester.
Glad I spent $40 for takeout grubhub that never came. Unacceptable.
Will never ever go back she's so RUINED and am paying for it😡😢
Extremely bad attitude, I called an online food order waiting for 1.5 hours, and I called the restaurant, they didn’t have a good attitude and repeatedly yelled at me saying it was on the way, but the app didn’t show that. The woman who answered the phone had an extremely bad attitude😅😅😅😅
Very DISRESPECTFUL. Tried over charging us and became extremely rude when CAUGHT. DOUBLE CHECK your totals-as she tried rushing me off the phone when I questioned the reasoning for the $30+ price tag for an order of wings, fried dough and fried calamari. I WOULDNT ALLOW THESE PPL TO COOK FOR MY DOG. Tho from the sounds of her desperate attempt at an OVER CHARGE, they'd prolly try cooking HIM. SMH. UNBELIEVABLE-and we WERE REGULARS.
Food was definitely not good. The box our food came with had a few tiny white worms on it. Immediately threw the food away. We will not be coming back.
The dirtiest restaurant I ever been in Rochester New York the very nasty, they don’t clean their hand. Very disgusting people.
Felt rushed by store waitress, food is enough to feed a flea, expensive with cheap service, they charge me $2.50 for a glass of water, highly NOT recommended
Crab ragoons were burnt and flavorless, and eggroll was also over fried and had absolutely no flavor.
I ordered the Spicy Shrimp fried rice and it was okay but nothing to rave about. I will say I was absolutely grossed out when I went inside. The décor looks nothing like the first picture. The paint is peeling from the walls, there's boxes sitting on the stools, a Man was walking from the back coughing into his hands, the Woman was making wontons with her bare hands after I just watched her take my order, touch the register and a bunch of other things. They were laughing and joking with some guy who you can tell works a lot with his hands who then took something out a bowl on the counter (I think it was nuts) and started eating it...with dirty hands!!!! I will never eat here again.
This food was so gross. I literally tried to give it to my pets and they wouldn't even eat it. I should have asked for a refund. Ramen tasted off like something went bad, the chicken in both dishes were like wet boogers. Never again.
This place was absolutely horrible! Dirty on the inside, horrible customer service- reluctantly we decided to give it a chance and when all was said and done the food was bland, not packaged neatly, and not worth the money! Egg rolls had no meat in them despite us ordering pork egg rolls. Very disappointed as we went off the reviews and found it had 4 stars! What a joke! If I could give it no stars I would be glad to do so!
They deserve ZERO STARS!!! There was a HUGE DEAD FLY in my food and when we called to tell the restaurant (it was a delivery order) they were rude and only offered to make us another one. WHY WOULD I WANT ANOTHER ONE?? And no refund for our ruined meal. Terrible.
We order the happy family and got only the food our family was still very upset. To make matters worse we ordered the hawaiian wedding and only got the food for the wedding. this place is scam and didnt give me a wife
This place is the worst chinese food I have had in a long time. I paid almost 50 bucks for my food and it wasn't worth it. From the bottom of my heart I wish i couldve gotten my money back or send the food back to the restaraunt. The food was tasteless and very bland my phat Thai was dry and flavorless as well. I ordered the chicken phat Thai and it had no chicken in it. We also ordered the pork egg rolls which had no pork in it. They were over cooked and very greasy. I ordered the teriakyi beef and it barely had any beef on it. It was just a couple pieces of meat there. The hostess was very very very rude and she needs to take a customer service class because her customer service sucks ass. My lo me in was very watery and runny even after i told the cook I don't like my sauce runny. The kitchen wasn't very clean looking with food and veggies and noodles just sitting out in big bowls like they have been sitting there since they opened at 11am. I usually never write reviews but this place is the worst chinese food. This is the worst customer service that I have ever had. The woman is so rude and this place should be shut down for their customer service and good quality which is terrible I wanted to serve my food to my dog but I paid to much for the food. Portions are very small. I just don't see how people can give this place 4 or 5 stars when I honestly think it is a 0 star restaraunt. The China wok on geneseee st is way better than this place. I'm just so mad and dissappointed by the food and customer service. It was a waste of my 50 dollars. It is so disappointing that you pay your hard working money for this terrible slack food. If anyone reads this review stay away from this place and safe yourself the hype and the disappointment. They should be reported to the BBb for their terrible customer service and they're small proportion and very bland ass goood. I'm so disgusted.
I have been coming to mings exclusively for his chicken pad thai and have always loved his food but as of the last 2 times with 3 months separating the visits. I was given undercooked and extremely bland noodles ontop of having to wait an additional 10 minutes after getti g there exactly at the scheduled pick up time. I fear he no longer cares about the quality of food he hands out and that legit makes me sad his food was so amazing when he actually tried to make good food
My coworkers and I just ordered lunch from Ming's for the first time. I ordered steak teriyaki and was given a very bland beef and exactly 2 pieces of broccoli. I had my coworkers try it because I wasn't even sure it was beef, let alone steak. I threw it out. Also, a gelatinous blob was found in the food. $15 for a small portion of really bad food equates to never returning again! I took photos. I wish I could post them!
Went here a week ago and had the weirdest dining experience ever. First of all, I came to dine in and the lady who was running the front look annoyed even though it was lunch time and there was no one in there? Then as I was eating, the staff was staring at me. Not in the usual way staff would stare to see if you like the food, but staring in a way that made it seem like they were judging you for what you ordered. But the most weirdest thing that happened was I was in the middle of eating and one of the staff came over to my table, took the food I was still eating and just started bagging up my food? He then said "have a good day" and walked off! I was only in there for 15 minutes max, but honestly I was so weirded out by the uncomfortable vibes of the place that I took my stuff and ran out. I didn't even bother keeping the food after that seeing that I had lost my appetite. Just an awkward visit and I wouldn't recommend the place.
This is the worst Chinese food I’ve ever ordered. The lo mein was over cooked by a long shot to the point the noodles were falling apart and the spring rolls tasted like someone spilled a pepper in it. The steamed rice was also old and crusty. Everything in the bag was covered in brown sauce like it was flipped over in the drivers car.
I ordered shrimp with cashew nuts, which was enjoyed. Also ordered chicken phat Thai. The container was over flowing with rice noodles. The only “chicken” appeared to be chicken skins - some even had hairs! There wasn’t any skin that had meat. They turned me against an other visit. Previous to this we were liking their food.
Ordered a meal from here with some crab Rangoon’s which mind you are $7 (comparative to China garden $5.50 for 12) and got 4 overfried Rangoon with cream cheese in it. The fried rice does not look like fried rice. Thankfully you can’t really mess chicken up...so I thought...sesame chicken had an ounce of sauce for the entire serving. Would not recommend if you want traditional American Chinese food.
