Flavor-Packed Experience at Velvet Taco 🌮🔥 Another amazing food stop! We recently visited Velvet Taco and everything we tried was absolutely top notch. The flavors, freshness, and variety really stand out. I tried the spicy chicken tikka taco — perfectly medium spicy with bold, delicious flavors. 🌶️👌 It had just the right kick without being overpowering. For vegetarian options, we had both the tofu taco and the paneer taco. I personally liked the tofu better than the paneer — it was flavorful, well-seasoned, and had a great texture. The paneer was okay but tofu definitely won for me! My niece and nephew loved the cheese quesadilla, simple and satisfying 🧀😊. And we couldn’t leave without dessert — the red velvet cake with caramel sauce was rich, moist, and absolutely indulgent. 🍰✨ We also enjoyed the chips with queso blanco — creamy, slightly spicy, and super addictive. Perfect starter to share! One thing I love is how customizable the tacos are. I usually eat one taco normally, and for the second, I swap the tortilla for lettuce. It feels lighter on the stomach and healthier too 🥬💚 — great option if you want to enjoy without feeling too full. Pros: ✔️ Great veg and non-veg options ✔️ Medium spice levels (balanced flavor) ✔️ Customizable choices ✔️ Delicious dessert & queso They truly have good options for everyone. Love the variety of tacos with unique protein bases, toppings mouthwatering sauces The staff are friendly and service is quick no matter how busy they are. The domain location has both indoor and outdoor seating.
Very lively atmosphere! Ordered their vegetarian cauliflower tacos 🌮 and OMG they were the best I've had to date! The queso and chips were also delicious. Parking was a bit tough to find close to the restaurant as it was a busy day at Domain. Don't forget to sign up on their app if it's your first time here - it'll get you a free chips and queso dip which is totally a steal. Service was quick and they have ample seating space. They also have a paneer option in vegetarian which is okay, not great!
Velvet Taco is hands down one of my favorite spots! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and creative — you can really taste the quality in every bite. Their unique taco combinations keep things exciting, and everything I’ve tried has been absolutely delicious. What really made my recent visit stand out was the amazing service. Austin Holder went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. He was friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared about making our experience great. It’s not every day you come across someone who brings that level of positive energy and professionalism.
Austin at Velvet Taco was absolutely fantastic! He was patient, knowledgeable about the menu, and gave great recommendations (that did not disappoint!). You can tell he genuinely cares about customers having a great time. He was attentive without being overbearing and handled everything quickly and professionally, even during a busy rush. Velvet Taco is already amazing, but Austin’s customer service truly stood out and made our visit memorable. We’ll definitely be back — and hoping he’s working! 🌮✨
Wow!! Just another visit to Velvet tacos in Domain, Austin!! Even though it might seem that Velvet Taco is so frequently visited, and it could become something regular, but there’s nothing regular about their hospitality, and the delicious food each and every time! It’s just so very Extraordinary!! We have become so confident of the taste, freshness and consistency of Velvet Taco tacos that it’s the “go to place” any-day, any-time when we are in need of a ‘shake-up’ of our moods! :) The anticipation is mood lifting! The satisfaction ‘post-taco-consumption’ is very fulfilling! The ambiance has now become ‘homely’ to us because we visit so often!! :) We always Love the Spicy Tikka chicken, Nashville Hot Tofu, Beer Battered Cauliflower, Fried Paneer, Queso chips and ofc we enjoy exploring their WTF (Weekly Taco Feature) Adventures!! :)) The staff is amazing! Very attentive, responsive and they are all totally tuned to the crowds and the ‘multi-cultural nuances’! It’s a melting pot there! It’s amazing, because when it gets packed it’s really packed, yet it’s a party zone! We Always enjoy meeting with Ben, Bethany, Nathalia, and of course The very hardworking Abelina! She’s usually seen tirelessly clearing up spaces to help the guests get seated, & always with a smile! :) I hope the management at Domain location will recognize and appreciate Abelina! Ate here twice while I was in town, great atmosphere. Casual and fun while out having drinks. Reasonable prices large portions, large menu, good flavor. Beer and margaritas available. Clean restaurant, fun vibes. Tons of seating inside and outside, fun music playing. Would return and highly recommend, also in a fun area.
The best Tacos Ive had. They are well filled with correct combinations and very tasty. The Nashville tofu and Shrimp tacos were the best
Fun place for unique tacos. Very creative options. I had the spicy chicken tikka tacos and the ghimichurri steak tacos. Both were excellent. Queso and chips was great too. Staff was great helping me navigate the menu since it was my first time there. Lots of seats so it was easy to find a table.
This place is basically a staple. I am OBSSESED with the chicken tikka taco. Indian flavor with a bit of kick! I have dreams, cravings for this taco. The late night hours means I can basically order it whenever. And they're on all the ordering platforms. They are popular so there's often a line to order but it moves really quickly (but also just order online and skip the line) I also recommend the coconut queso and their namesake their red velvet cake! Absolutely a spot that needs to be on your go to list.
Paneer Tikka Masala Taco = 🔥 Always a must have! As a vegetarian, I swapped the chicken for paneer — and it’s perfection. The Elote Corn Dip and queso are insanely good — you’ll definitely want seconds. Velvet Taco never disappoints!
These are quite possibly the best tacos I have ever had. Ive been staying at the domain for 3 nights now. I have gone 3 times and continually impressed with the flavors
Awesome spot, a little busy but thats fair for a good location. As we waited in line they deployed a second cashier and another employee who took our order on a device. The menu was clearly displayed on the outside and inside of the business which made it friendly as a first time customer who has no idea what they want. The taps were down which was a bummer understandable but still a bummer for a cold beer, food more than made up for it tho. Full sized tacos each authentically true to their description and pallet. Hot sauce was insanely good, we grabbed the hotter bottle and I wish I knew what it was. The elote side was different than back home but incredible, it comes as a dip with chips and was delicious. We got almost everything and had no disappointment. Fried chicken tacos covered in sauce were a little mushy but that's kinda par for the course. Brisket taco was the best but seriously didnt have anything that missed the mark. Would absolutely recommend and I hope I get to come back.

He went above and beyond with his customer service — not just taking my order, but making me feel like a valued guest. His personality shines through, and he truly brings life and energy to the store. Velvet Taco is lucky to have someone like Enrique on their team — he deserves all the props!
Delicious indian-mexican fusion food. I had tikka chicken & mexi shrimp tacos. I love this plqce. Food is great and a fair price point. LG Rocks Rita with an added grand mariner floater was strong and tasty. Best part is the server Javier. He was kind and patient as i explored the menu and answered all my questions. He then followed up with me when he was clearing the outside patio. Very polite and respectful.
Always a bustling lively place. A good place to hang out with friends. The margaritas are good, but strong. The food is very good. Everything on the menu is at least somewhat spicy tho. The next time im there i will be asking if there is a way to get a non spicy version of their food. i expect im in the minority here, but i think the chicken and waffle taco would be just a little better without being spicy. i really enjoy there weekend hours.
Oo la la, it’s our to go place. It has very limited vegetarian options, but they are amazing and delicious🤤🤤 95% of the times they make amazing tacos, there are maybe just 5% of the times wherein it’s not upto the mark. Hot Nashville Tofu taco & Beer Battered Taco is what we have
Tacos were great as always. We love the chicken tikka tacos, paneer and tofu tacos. They have introduced bowls which is great ! Ambience is nice. Also you have to pick your order yourself.
Everything was hand made. The flavors really pop here! The staff was ultra-friendly, professional, and attentive. I had brisket and steak tacos in a combo that came with a side of fried rice, sauce, chips, and drink. Don’t skip the red velvet cake. I normally dislike red velvet cake, this red velvet cake was rich, flavorful, and so satisfying. Prices are very reasonable. It was busy at 5PM and the mildly loud chatter and atmosphere made it obvious that local folks love this place.
I had a delightful Happy Hour at Velvet Taco. Both the indoor and outdoor seating areas provided a relaxing and clean atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious and featured many creative flavors. I highly recommend the Kobe Smash Burger Taco – it was an incredible taco-burger experience! The Margaritas were also incredibly refreshing. Overall, it was a fantastic experience.
LOVED Velvet Taco! They have so many vegetarian options, and none of them boring. So much flavor in all the tacos. Service is excellent too. Line was long to order, but it kept moving at a steady pace. After ordering, food came quickly. All the tacos we ordered - Beer Battered Cauliflower, Paneer and Spicy Tikka Chicken were delicious. Street corn was good too. I can't decide which taco was my favorite. I'm so glad to see restaurant doing fusion of Indian and Mexican flavors. Both cuisines love spices, so combining them under one roof is brilliant idea. I wish they do national franchising and someone opens a branch near Harrisburg, PA. Not going to happen, but can always dream :).
Velvet Taco at The Domain is one of my favorite spots in Austin. The place has such a cool vibe with its eclectic menu and lively atmosphere. I love the blend of modern and rustic decor, and the open kitchen concept adds a nice touch, letting you see your food being prepared. The seating is a mix of communal tables and high-tops, which makes it great whether I'm dining solo or with friends.What really made my visit stand out was the service, especially from Josh, the cashier. He was super friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. It's not every day that the service is so good it makes a meal memorable, but that's exactly what happened here. Overall, Velvet Taco at The Domain is a go-to spot for me when I'm craving something different. The tacos are amazing, and with the great service, it's always a fantastic experience.

We came to this Velvet Taco location for the first time, and it was a pretty enjoyable experience overall. The last time I had Velvet Taco was in Houston, and I remember it being very delicious and quite memorable, so I was excited to try this spot and see how it compared. Since I’m vegetarian, we ordered all three vegetarian taco options to sample a bit of everything. The presentation of the tacos 🌮 was really nice — colorful, well put together, and definitely Instagram-worthy. You can tell they put effort into how the food looks before it hits the table. Taste-wise, everything was good and fresh, and we enjoyed trying the different combinations and textures. That said, we felt like some of the tacos were missing a little something in the seasoning department — especially that extra depth of flavor or umami that really makes a dish pop. It could just be the style here, and I’m sure some people prefer it this way, but personally I would’ve loved a bit more boldness or richness in the flavors. The atmosphere was relaxed and casual, making it a nice place to hang out, eat, and take your time. Service was friendly, and we had a chill, pleasant time overall. Even though it didn’t quite reach the level I remembered from Houston, it was still a good experience and definitely worth a visit, especially if you like creative taco combinations. I had the shrimp taco and Quessa birria tacos with elite. The food was amazing. We ended up going back a second night and the quality was just as good! I gave service 4 star because the guy at the register was not very helpful or understanding of it being our first time in. I asked what the ranch water was, his reply "alcohol". I would still eat here again, but just Google questions you have about the food and drink ahead of time.

Love it. The queso and the rice are fantastic. And of course the tacos are the shining star. Plenty of meat in each, plenty of toppings. Everything is fresh. Great beer. Great service.

Very lively place. We are vegetarians, so not many options to eat. Overall food was not bad. Guac was fresh and good with chips. Eliot (corn based side) was average at best. The place is very lovely though. Especially if you sit outside it can get little loud in the evening.

Unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience at Velvet Taco in the Domain. The food was very ordinary—nothing special or memorable. What really stood out, though, was how poorly maintained the dining area was. The tables were dirty, and no one seemed to be actively cleaning them. I had to ask twice before someone finally came over to wipe ours down. To make things worse, I noticed a hair inside the box of lemon slices, which is completely unacceptable from a hygiene standpoint. The tray they served our nachos on also looked like it hadn’t been properly cleaned. Definitely expected better standards of cleanliness and attention to detail, especially in such a busy area like the Domain.
