Meetu Japanese Cuisine

I love the atmosphere here, it's spacious, calm and cool. The food is delicious and the bento box is so so worth it. My favorite combo to order is Sesame chicken and Pork Tonkatsu in the Bento Box. The servers are always polite, and give great service. I've been a happy customer here for 2016 and the only thing I am ashamed of is the fact it took me so long to write a review of this place. I recommend it to everyone I know because this is the best Japanese food in Sactown to my knowledge, especially for the price!

The staff was so warm and welcoming, and the food was delicious and fresh tasting with subtle sauces, thankfully. I'm glad they took over this spot, we'll be coming back regularly!

Love this spot! I currently get the 3 rolls for $16 lunch option pretty often and it does not disappoint. Their double salmon roll and dragon rolls are probably my favorite items on the menu. So good!

Spicy char sue ramen was delicious and fast. I prefer to sit more privately while eating though. Seating is mostly tables all situated facing each other. But otherwise I'll definitely visit for lunch again.

This may be one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Their food was amazing, I'm vegan and they had affordable options. They were so kind to me even though I showed up with my service animal and my messy kid. I am not one to write reviews but they were so kind that they deserve it! The customer service was very modern and very respectful at the same time, congratulations on having a healthy minded atmosphere in such a crazy world. Thank you!

The rice in this sushi restaurant is very fresh and delicious. It's not pressed too tightly and doesn't fall apart when picked up. This shows that the chef's skills are quite good. The fact that the rice is not undercooked is particularly praiseworthy because I have had undercooked rice in takeout sushi from other places before. So this is definitely a point worth mentioning. The barley tea is also very good. The temperature of the tea is just right. Overall, the taste is very nice.

Love sushi o tabemashou. Nice people work here. Try the chicken yaki udon dry stir fry. Yummy .

Couldn't ask for better Japanese food. Not only do they serve rolls but also udon, sukiyaki, bentos, and a whole host of Japanese appetizers and dessert. They staff was very friendly and the restaurant had a high quality yet family owned feel. Definitely will be coming back!

This is one of my new favorite sushi spots. Happy hour prices on weekdays, friendly staff, reasonable prices, and a good variety of sushi rolls. It wasn't very full the last few Fridays I've been there (just before 6), but the staff was very friendly and they let you take your time with your meals (no pressure to get up, pay, and go). Our server was very nice. Great value for the price!

Great value good food you spend a lot more at others for the same quality

This restaurant is very good. Been here a few times, and the food is always good and excellent service. The dragon sushi roll is fire 🔥.... Bento box is always hitting the spot as well.

Really quick delish, walked in and left with a wonderful sashimi bento box at 5:30 PM on a Thursday and I was in / out for much less and half the time that it required to order two mediocre hamburgers from a national fast food restaurant in the same parking lot. What an extreme contrast in pick up and dining experience. If I am stuck at UCDavis Medical Center at meal time again I know now where I can get a delicious inexpensive quick fresh meal.

I’d have to try more off the menu to give a totally valid review (and I’d like to!) but, from what I did get– the chashu ramen– I was definitely satisfied. I was craving ramen and this was a solid bowl of ramen. The pork in the dish, specifically, was by far the star of the show– juicy, flavorful, falls apart under your chopsticks. THAT, I will say, was outstanding. Side note: do make sure to ask your server about happy hour if you see it online and you’re interested in their options– it’s not advertised anywhere in the restaurant or handed out, which is kind of odd, but it does exist.

I’ve tried their fried squid tentacles, pan fried pork gyozas, spicy edamame, beef-ginger scallions dish, several bento boxes and their Chat su ramen soup and everything is delicious. Fresh ingredients, flavorful and most dishes are good for sharing. They give a free scoop of ice cream to kids. Prices are reasonable, which you don’t find anywhere. Highly recommended!

Our go to for really excellent sashimi and sushi. Fresh and lovely to look at. Good tempura too. Nice and big inside but also great for take out. The staff are wonderful. We celebrated after our county clerk wedding and it was perfect ❤️

My daily go to Sushi place, prices is super affordable, less than $10 / roll, highly recommend their lobster roll very unique and special can be steamed or tempura style, very fresh and tender authentic Australia lobster, Ramen is available as well, food quality superb, owner has been in Sushi business for 20+ yrs several locations in Sacramento very popular, lots of parking and easy to go to. This business has been opening for 8 yrs, give it a try and you are going to love it. They are serving Gunther's Quality Ice Cream.

The tempura was light and crunchy, and the drizzle of sauce and tempura flakes on top made it next level. 🍜 The Beef Ramen was pure comfort in a bowl — savory broth, perfectly cooked noodles, and tender slices of beef that just melted in your mouth. The bean sprouts and corn added a nice crunch and sweetness. It was hearty, balanced, and beyond satisfying. The vibe at Meetu was welcoming and relaxed, and the service was great too. Whether you’re craving sushi, ramen, or both, this spot is a must-try. Definitely coming back soon!

I have to update my original review from a few months ago. Today was my first day back to Oba since then and they're back to traditional Japanese food after experimenting with a Chinese buffet. The bentos are beautiful! It's the last photo in my collection. Original review: I dropped by Oba to pick up a bento for my Japanese American father-in-law and discovered it’s under new ownership and the cuisine is mostly buffet-style Chinese with some sushi and ramen. I filled a to-go container and the price was only $10! The staff said it’s happy hour till 5:30, when the price goes up to $15. Honestly, the food looked fresh and delicious. My father-in-law liked it, so we’ll be returning to Oba for Chinese and we’ll go elsewhere for bento. Great value!

Oba Japanese Kitchen is one of my top 5 sushi restaurants. I’ve been to Japan, and there won’t be anything like it here in the states, but Oba is a little closer than most places. Their sashimi are fresh and no fishy smell. I ordered the Pepper Fin sashimi and it was melt in your mouth greatness. The Shiro Maguro was fresh but the fish was thinly shaved. Both had daikon with ginger and wasabi. The IZ roll was rolled tight, fresh but it did lack in flavor. I’ve been coming here for years and will remain a loyal customer. 🫶🏼

I do a food delivery service and I was getting so many requests to pick up food from this restaurant so I decided to try it. It's delicious! The prices are fair. I got some sushi and a bento box and in total it was about $22. The food was delicious, the customer service is great. I will definitely be coming back and bringing friends!

Best sushi in Sacramento, in my opinion. Sushi always tastes fresh and I recommend the dragon roll, real California roll, and spider roll. Also, the stuffed jalapeños are the best app hands down.

Was in the area for business, looking for something for dinner. Didn't have a lot of choices without driving too far. Food was OK, service was good.

That was well done. Everything was packaged well and this totalled out to be $11 or smthng per portion so that's awesome.

Overheard two ppl chatting about this place. Had to scope it out for myself. For what they were offering it wasn't bad. Ordered 5 items: Rock 'n roll, Double Hamachi roll, sashimi (Hamachi, shirt maguro and one other item. Not expensive for those items.

I come her alot it's vlosed by. My fav was the Korean shirt ribs. They always taste so good. Today was the first time not tasting the same. It wasn't bad it didn't taste how it use to taste. Just wish it tasted how it was supose to. Maybe a new cook idk. But it so hood here. The service always good.

Food was ok, the shrimp tempura in the roll was alright, not as crunchy as I like it. Flavor was good in all rolls we ordered. Bento box is good for the price, but what I didn’t like is that the steak and chicken were not grilled enough for me. Again flavor is good. We were not given any plates to share the rolls or the napkins I requested, they were slow for a Saturday afternoon. The place is ok but did not give me the urge to come back soon. Very budget friendly and food is ok.

It's quite unfortunate that we had such a bad experience tonight. Maybe they were understaffed, but the service was terrible and the food was mediocre. I had such high hopes. They serve sukiyaki- one of my all time favorites that you don't see on menus often. The menu is extensive and it seemed that it was going to be a great dinner, but then it went downhill. Our server took a long time to take our order, he never asked us about drinks (we had to flag down the other server) and after a reasonable amount of time, my sukiyaki came. Woo hoo. SEVENTEEN MINUTES LATER my BF got his 12 pieces of nigiri. Sashimi on rice. That's it. That's all he got. It took two servers' attention to hunt his food down. People who came in after us got their sushi rolls before us. WTH?? I really considered if the food was good I would come back because maybe it was just an off night, but unfortunately, the food wasn't that great and $50 later, we left and won't be back.
