My wife and I visited here for the first time and we split the 16oz KC for 1, with a side of fries and a side salad. The steak was phenomenal! Probably one of the best streaks I've ever eaten. Gave the 4 stars because the fries were not fully cooked. But a must visit if you love your steaks!

Went on a Thursday night and it wasn’t too packed for a steakhouse so we were seated right away! Everyone was friendly and the atmosphere was great! I got their guiso plate and it was delicious!! The meat was seasoned so well and it fell apart in my mouth. This dish came with homemade tortillas that were super soft! My husband got their Jaeger steak and loved every bite! He even mentioned that the meat was really tender and flavorful. Overall, I would come here again!

Everything was great. The kc for 1 was a little thinner than I like and it didn't have the outer crust it used to. It's been a while since I have been there. But it definitely didn't disappoint. Our waitress was awesome. My nephew had just played a football game and got a bad cramp in his thigh. I asked her for some pickle juice and she came through for him. She is #1 in my book. Atmosphere was awesome too.

We stopped by for dinner after visiting the rodeo fairgrounds and boy are we glad this was the restaurant we chose! Our server, Sole J, was one of the most efficient professional servers we have had. She got all the details of our order correct, had the drinks and food out quickly and checked on us throughout the meal and was not intrusive. We all liked our entrees very much even after filling up on the onion rings that were perfectly cooked. This San Angelo institution is keeping the quality up that we have enjoyed for years. Of special note, all the staff was hustling hard and we could tell the earlier crowd had made them weary. I highly recommend Western Skies for your steak and comfort food desires!

We have eaten in the dining room and also gotten take away on two occasions.We adore the HUGE chicken fried steaks,which are wonderfully tender! My baked potao is large and delicious.Our take away wad ready exactly when they said it would be.ALWAYS a pleasure to visit,superb food and dining! Totally recommend!

Very well made food, the medium-rare steak w/ baked potato was good, service was attentive and best of all was the low price. If you love steaks at a great value and you're in San Angelo, Texas, give it a try.

This place is solid! I've been here a few times now. The best thing I'd say about this place it that it's really consistent. I tried the KC for 1 and the Filet Mignon, both were great. The Filet literally melted in my mouth. The sear on the meat was perfect, and both cuts were seasoned really well. A couple of the people who were with me got some of the Mexican dishes they offer, and they were all impressed. Service was good, but nothing astounding. The server always seemed to be overworked and inundated with large parties. Prices are about average for a good steak in the area. Portions are large, so I think overall the value is pretty good. Lastly, I think overall, this place is better than Lowake. I've had great steaks at Lowake, but I've also had medicore steaks there. The consistency at Western Sky definitely puts it a step above Lowake, IMO.

Ate here for the first time. We got steak fingers and fried fish. It's not the best we ever had, but definitely not the worst. Steak fingers needed a little more salt. Fish was a filet and inside was not quite as cooked as we like, but the outside was crispy. Salads were very good and a nice portion. Our server was working alone and had about 6 or 7 tables, but she was handling it like a pro. Very efficient, friendly, and stopped by to refill glasses, check us out, etc. We were in and out in less than an hour. Our only regret is that we didn't order onion rings. Several around us had them, and they looked fabulous. Maybe next time.

Even after being newly remodeled this places stays so packed that it probably needed to expand a couple more hundred feet. 😅😂 but I'll admit they have some scrumdidlyumptious food. Not guna lie.

I've only been here one time and it was delicious. Everything was good . I had heard by ear that it was a great place to eat and I finally decided to break my tight budget to try it out. I must say that word of mouth was right about the business. I really enjoyed it and would spend the extra dollar to eat here again sometime when I can better afford it. My first visit to Western Sky, and I loved it! All of the staff was super friendly, and super accommodating when the seating count changed on the fly. Our waitress, Amy, was a sweetheart and a trooper! She kept us supplied with chips and salsa, as well as keeping our drinks topped off. Three of us got the chicken fried steak, and all three gave it two thumbs up. The other three members of our crew said the same for their orders, too. The atmosphere was relaxed, friendly, and inviting. Lunch for our group averaged out to $17 each, which is about middle of the road for San Angelo. It gets BUSY at lunch, so you might need to be ... creative. If you want good Texas fare at a reasonable price, give Western Sky a go!

Had a really nice steak here. Nothing fancy, just a big, good cut, perfectly cooked and simply seasoned. Place isn't super casual, but it isn't fancy either. I like the vibe. They feel confident, they know what they are, what they aren't, and what they do well. Big fan, will be back for sure.

These guys have the best steaks and chicken fried steak in San Angelo. We loved the food and the experience. We highly recommend Western Sky and we will be back.

Waited an hr and half to be seated, which is expected with a big party. Hosts had attitudes that clearly showed on their faces when asked how long the wait was. The owner came out to help with seating and was able to situate the problem, with help from my daughter who used to work as a host at Texas Roadhouse, come up with a solution to seat a big party. After the long wait, the owner did quickly seat us. The server was awesome. She did our whole party with no frustration on her face. She checked on us pretty frequently for such a big party and made sure we wouldn't need anything. The food was delicious. I had the small chicken fried steak, which wasn't very small at all! All in all, our visit ended great even though there was a rough start.

First visit Sat in the bar area for dinner, the service was slow and not very friendly (but not rude, either). I ordered the Junior Steak, German Potatoes, & house salad with raspberry vinaigrette. The salad was some iceberg lettuce, 2 radish slices and a small tomato cut in half. Meh. The German Potatoes were good. Nice flavor. The steak was cooked perfectly (rare). The seasoning was missing something, but still good. I would eat here again.

I came here back in 2013 and wasn't impressed. When i went back, 10 years later, I was pleasantly surprised to see the changes they made. They did an amazing remodel, and you can feel it! The food was pretty freaking good, service was alright for the large group we had. Will definitely go back!

I've always been a big fan, I'm from Angelo and go there to eat when I'm in town visiting family. Last time I was there and got the KC for 2, I was pretty disappointed that it didn't come with their steak topping/seasoning that it always use to have. Like a buttery garlic seasoning. It was just plain, which don't get me wrong, it was still a great steak. Just not what I always went to Western Skies for. I don't know if that is just a change they made in the last few years or what. Again, still recommend. Just left a bit disappointed last time.

Delicious food and such a calm, quiet atmosphere. I asked for a medium steak but got medium rare. I ate it like that because my waitress never came back. I ordered the veg supreme steak which is very misleading. I thought I was gonna get veggies with it but I didn't. Again couldn't ask the waitress about it because she never returned to my table.

Came here on a date with my wife. You may not notice it at first but it's there. The parking lot can fill quickly but people seem to just park on the street if needed. When we walked in we were seated immediately but we had to sit at a table with bar stools. The inside looks alot better than the outside and looks like a very nice sit down restaurant. The service was phenomenal, we were brought menus and our drink orders were taken and brought out promptly. We ordered onion rings for an appetizer and before we knew it we were eating them. A small onion ring is a lot for 2 people. We didn't have to wait long after ordering and our food was out. I ordered the Cafe special and my wife the Mexican dinner, both were very large portions. My steak was cooked to a perfect medium and the beans, rice and enchilada were generously portioned. The food was delicious. We enjoyed our time there and will probably be back.

Burgers and fries are delicious. Fajitas are great. It’s a shame that a place like this, with so much potential to provide great quality food in all areas, serves nacho cheese out of a can as “queso” and pre-made guacamole out of a bag. My wife and I just moved to SA and were looking for a steak house. Western Sky was recommended to us. The service was great and the food came out extremely fast. Unfortunately, the Git Err Dunn Ribeye was awful. You would have to purposefully try to make a ribeye this bad. There was zero flavor and it was extremely grizzly. $32 for a 14oz when Texas Roadhouse has a 14oz for $26 and is 1000x better.

I brought a friend from out of town. The chicken fry was not crispy at all. The crust felt soggy and not tasty. The salad was just Lettuce with a slice of tomato. The tea was good. The server started out a little short with us but she warmed up after we order. It's been years since I've been here and looks like it will be again.

This has always been my dad’s favorite place to eat in town and we’ve been coming for years. Unfortunately we won’t be back due to service. The food was good minus the cheese burger. But for the prices I’d expect better. Our server wasn’t very present and barely awake it felt like. She kept asking the same questions and still messed it up. One person ordered a cheese burger and when he notified her they didn’t add cheese she brought a Kraft single on a cold plate. If we’re paying over $125 for our bill alone I’d expect more than a cold piece of cheese handed to me. Not to mention the added gratuity and credit card charge. The server got a $35 tip for doing nothing and bringing a cold piece of fake cheese on a plate. Then the girl at the front needed help just running the register to pay. Shame that the actual steak was cooked well, but the rest and the service took away from it. With a total of $200+ please atleast warm the bun up for the next person.

After over a decade of being our #1 choice for steak in San Angelo, we have to make a change. First time - maybe a bad day Second time - I can't see giving up on them Third time - I'm done! It's now a pattern of bad food AND bad service. The last three times we've gone, our steaks have been RAW. I like Med-rare, but it hit the table and I swear it was still mooing. My friend likes well done, and it comes med-rare. My DIL used to LOVE their chicken strips, but they're now half the size and twice the cost. Everything is as bland and dry as the Chihuahuan desert. Service lately is a hit or miss, but mostly miss with no smiles and a feeling that we're a bother just getting seated. You'd think every steak in Texas would be good, but no. WS used to be the best in San Angelo and it saddens me to say that after 15 years we will no longer be going to WS. We've had several family events there, and it was always the place we recommended to visitors. After the remodel and COVID, it just hasn't been the same...undercooked, underseasoned, undersized, overpriced, AND now unfriendly. Fix the back-of-the-house management. Whoever is expediting and watching for quality, is doing a horrible job. Retrain your front-of-the-house staff that a smile goes a long way and that's their job. Customers should never be treated like they're interrupting the season finale of their host or servers favorite show. BTW - we have two extended families with the same type of issues. The last friend we recommended them to, called and told us about their bad experience.

Me and the wife went in on a Friday like we normally do,. We ordered the small chicken fried steak,the usual trimmings,german fries,salad and a tea.The food came out to the table. Looked TASTY! The wife's was done and looked great,she dug right in. As for mine,it looked good. Until I cut into it! I could here the thing moo! From the rawness of it! Yes! It was completely raw under the cooked crust topping.I had to do a double take. I have not ever seen this done before. It was very disgusting at first. The atmosphere was the worst ever I have experienced, The owner of the restaurant was with a party and the whole party was just very loud and rude and couldn't keep it under control,we couldn't have a conversation because of their party. I will never return

Ordered the T-Bone and Ribeye for a birthday dinner, with fried pickles and onion rings. The salad was OK, just looked like bagged lettuce and two slices of tomato with OK ranch. The appetizers I would've liked to have more seasoning on them, but they were cooked well. When we got our steaks, my fiance was half-way through his steak without any actual edible pieces of meat yet. The steak was half inedible because of the amount of fat, and both of them sat in a pool of gritty, salty, oily butter that was not tasteful. I really wanted to enjoy it, but I couldn't get more than 3 bites in without feeling like it was an absolute waste of money. The servers were kind and apologetic, especially the gentleman behind the bar. I know it wasn't their fault, and they did what they could to accomodate after a disappointing evening. Won't be back, but I am grateful they were willing to comp our steaks, as we didn't eat them. Pretty disappointing to say the least

We were so disapointed. Been going for years and always loved everything. The ribeye was so awful so hard to cut we were told by either manager or owner thats the way ribeyes are suggested should have chose different steak. The chicken fried steaks were awful no seasoning no flavor they were mushy neither were eaten the fries were hard not cooked all the way again owner said they don't actually fry them just very defensive argumentative. Funny one our guests use to cook for them back in the day. Just an overall bad bad experience. SO sad.

The stakes were very grizzly and flavorless so they were returned and we ordered basic hamburger patties with cheese and bacon, being on carnivore diet, and the paddies were dry and tasteless with no salt as if the hamburger had been taken out of the package and put directly on the grill. I will not return to this restaurant

This place has gone so down hill since the original owners had it. We used to eat here every week but stopped coming because the steak hasn't been as good and after tonight I don't think I'm ever coming back. They hardly put any seasoning on it and my wife ordered med steak and it was dry and well well done, we asked for it to be redone and got a very rare steak. Now 30mins later everyone else is done eating and finally the server comes back and said she would let the manager know, the manager never came by and finally she comes back and said they would do 20 percent off which makes no sense. 20 percent off food you didn't even get to eat? What a rip off. We advised the server we didn't want a discount we want something for her to eat, here we are 1 hour in and still no food for her. Now to top it all off we have been here 1.5 hours and finally got a steak she can eat, and the server brings the the check and took the 20 percent discount off the ticket. I mean how petty. They screwed up 2 times and took the server 1.5 hours just to get us the food. UPDATE. Finally made them get me a actual manager before we left and he was very nice. the whole time though the wanna be manager was mean mugging me. Customer service has gone out the window.

I ordered food online through Toast. It said the food would be ready at 7:32. It's now 8:12 and I still don't have my food. Even worse, the only thing on TV in the bar area is women's basketball 🙄

Was very disappointed tonight with them. Was having dinner and ordered the sampler. On the sampler is fried pickles, chicken strips, fried mushrooms and mozzarella sticks. I asked if they could sub the pickles for fried jalapeños and if not that was ok. When they brought out the plate they tell me they could not sub the peppers for the pickles. Ok, so then they place the plate on table with nothing but pickles covering the plate and begin to tell me sorry but we are out of mushrooms so we gave you more pickles instead. Like ask me first before you just assume that it would be ok. I also asked if it would be marked down seeing as it was not what I wanted but they said no that it would be the same price and if not wanted it will just be thrown away. Very bad customer service.. like why not just give me the jalapeños to replace the mushrooms and we call it good? I don’t recommend ordering the tapatios either.. just look at how they send out what is supposed to be diced tomatoes but that is just they way I’ve grown up eating them here and in Mexico. They have gotten so big headed they are losing touch with the customers that have built that business to what it is with the amount of money we’ve spent there over the year’s. Truly sad

Not great food.expensive for quality.Had to return baked pototo ,replacement potato not any better.Husbands chicken dry overcooked. His fries not cooked enough.We will not go there again.

As a business owner myself, I hold myself to a higher standard. However, the owner of this restaurant didn't care about her customers and people around her. There was a back room that they should have sat in so they could be loud and let others enjoy their meals. We had our elderly mother and couldn't even have a conversation with her due to the loudness of the group behind us. We didn't even finish our meals but got them to go. It is terrible for the owner to make her customers feel this way.

Yesterday, I ordered dinner togo from Western Sky steakhouse. Very disappointed, I ordered a large chicken fried steak german style. Apparently that means your steak sit on a very minimal amount of cream gravy. I also ordered a large onion rings and received what I would imagine is an individual order because it was smaller than a small order. I called and talked to the owner Joann who explained that she packed my order herself and her judgement is never wrong and she is infallible. She wouldn't recognize that I spent over $100 on dinner I have been eating there since the 70s when Margaret Heinen owned it. Joann could take a lesson or two from Margaret on customer service and recognize when a customer is not satisfied rather than tell them they are wrong for feeling that way way and how my order was $100 after tax not before. This place is a steakhouse yet somehow doesn't have a tbone on the menu. 🙄 Luckily, we have Longhorn steakhouse to give them some competition. Tip for joann onion rings are primarily onions and flour. Pretty inexpensive to make. Soo disappointed

This place is a scam. They charge you a to go fee, a surcharge fee and a credit surcharge fee. More than $5.00 worth of fees for no reason. They charged $1.50 for literally 2 slices of lemons. Not two whole lemons just slices and they were tiny. Do not get to go from this place they are horrible and steal people's hard earned money. The food was cold when I got it and we ate it in the car as soon as it was supposedly ready. The steak was disgusting and the tapatillos were undercooked. Horrible restaurant!!

So disappointed we came all this way from out of town. Looking forward to this meal. Service was incredibly slow. My filet mignon was ice cold, when order medium. That has never happened to me before at any other steakhouse. The bacon was not cooked correctly still white and rubbery falling off the steak yuck! I asked the server politely to warm up my steak she became upset and tossed me my plate back. Not only did I wait 30 to 45 mins to get my food back. My family was done eating by that time I received my plate. The server ignored our table the rest of the time not asking for refills or anything else. I just box my food to go without hesitation to avoid conflict. Fried pickles over cooked and salty. The only good thing about my experience was the loaded baked potatoe. I heard the table behind complaining about their steak as well. When ask if everything was okay while paying I let the owner know I was so disappointed she did not take criticism well. I have been to plenty of STEAKHOUSES and Brazilian steakhouses this is something our family enjoys doing together is to try different steakhouses in different cities and not one have I EVER eaten a cold steak whether it was ordered medium rare or medium. She tried to tell me medium will be served cold like NO MA'AM the temperature would possibly be room temperature or hotter but not ice cold lady. The steak was tough and no favor. Save yourself the money and find another place to eat. Not worth the hundred and twenty dollars.

Went here tonight to get dinner. Seated very fast. Received drinks and appetizer in good time and good quality. Ordered my entree and it took 45 minutes. Not the biggest issue in the world. The waitress apologized for the wait, which was fine I understand. However, when the burger came out it was so overcooked it tasted like charcoal. Again, not the worst thing in the world. It just needed some pickles to help put it down since it was so dry. Was informed I would need to pay for the pickles. Almost disrespectful I had to pay for the pickles to help put the burger down. I fully expect to pay for the food I ordered and ate but really. Charging me for the pickles after a 45 minute wait and an over cooked burger… could get the same experience somewhere cheaper.

We hadn't eaten at Western Skies in several years and were hungry for a good chicken fried steak... and Western Skies used to have one. We ordered two chicken fried steaks with baked potato to go. When we picked it up, the tab was just under $45. When we got ready to eat it was complete disappointment. The steaks were jerky. It seemed like someone fried them 10 minutes too long. The baked potatoes were way overdone as well... almost hard as if they had been in the oven since the day before. Needless to say, we won't eat here again. Very dissappointed. 😞
