Opinions de Baan Thai Cuisine San Anselmo
I was very impressed with the Thai food here. I also ate mango sticky rice but didn't take a picture. The best dishes were definitely the Pad Thai and the mango sticky rice, they were perfectly seasoned and delicious. The staff here are lovely and enthusiastic. The restaurant has a warm and clean atmosphere, but one thing to remember is to make a reservation because otherwise you'll have to wait a long time.
I love the ambience. Even the washroom is so beautiful lol! The food was great. The best part is the Thai fried rice.
Nice Thai spot in San Anselmo, such a cute downtown, great indoor seating and Thai hospitality. I made a reservation for 2 at 7:30pm and they were so accommodating. I wanted to try their Tom Yum house beer (very different and good, reminded me of a michelada) and their khao soi with tofu. We tried their Thai samosas, Baan Thai salad, green curry fried rice with seafood (something new and nice to be mixed), and pad song Sa hai (eggplant and green beans). The portions were huge! We were so full and stuffed and have leftovers for 2 days! It’s nice and cute outside with large windows. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to go back!
Omg. So the food is amazing, but the staff are also wonderful and I love the decor. It's feels very intimate, pretty, and clean. I went by myself and watched as the staff worked like a well-oiled machine. They were so kind and accommodating. Everyone checking on everyone, not just their own assigned tables. This is a great place for a date, a friend or family gathering, or even a meal by yourself. I got Khao Soi and the crab wonton. Both mouth watering. I intend to put this place in my rotation. ❤️
From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff were highly professional, enhancing the overall experience with their attentive service. The culinary offerings are particularly noteworthy. The short ribs signature dish was outstanding, with tender meat that effortlessly fell off the bone. Equally impressive was the kua crab curry, which featured a perfect balance of aromatic spices and was paired exquisitely with soft shell crab. And don't miss their Tom Yum and Tom Kha beers it was so unique and flavorful complements to the meal!
I had an amazing dining experience at The Baan Thai Cuisine! Every dish I tried was packed with authentic flavors, cooked to perfection, and beautifully presented. The service was warm and welcoming, making the whole meal even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for real Thai comfort food, this is the place to go!
My family and I decided to take a day trip to this side of the bay since we have never really explored these parts. As we got closer to 5pm, we wanted to search for some great dinner. Hence I see mad reviews here and immediately had to check this place out. You definitely want to make a reservation here. This place is very small with limited seating, especially in large groups. When I tried to make reservations through Yelp, the earliest time was 6:45pm, so I thought if I come here early, I may seat early. Sure enough, we got seated after waiting for 20 minutes, around 6:15pm. The server was nice to thank us for waiting patiently and provided us menus and water. After a bit of waiting, we finally placed our order. I will start with my least to most favorites. Funny enough, my least favorites were both appetizers. 5. Roti Green Curry. Not familiar with this style of Roti, but this was deep-fried. Super crunchy and flaky which I love, paired with a nice drippy/watery green curry that has flavor and personality. My only downside is that after the first bite, it was rather heavy. You see this has a thickness of a Taiwanese Scallion Pancake, and therefore, carries the oil it was deep-fried in. After a while, you can taste the oiliness of the roti, which leaves a bit of a bad aftertaste I am not too fond of 4. Papaya salad. First bite without the leafy greens had A TON of fish sauce. I immediately could tell this was a strong and salty type of salad. A good thing is that they gave lots of leafy greens, which I highly recommend having each bite. But after getting used to it, we grew fond of the papaya salad. It got....addicting, especially with the peanut sauce they serve it on top. Yes please! More of that peanut sauce! Now onto the main course! At this point, we were hovering between "Not Bad" to "Pretty Good" until we were served... 3. Fire Cook Beef. Oh man. I love this sauce. This immediately changed our minds. We now suddenly thought "man this place is fantastic now". The beef is not spicy (to us) but the peppery, savory black sauce this comes with the beef flank and the coconut rice makes it a fantastic pairing. My only complaint is that the non-fatty pieces were pretty tough and dry, so if they used a slightly better part of the cow, like sirloin, this would've been epic. 2. Angel Wing in Panang Curry. My goodness. They debone the entire wing and shoulder part of the chicken and stuff it with glass noodles and vegetables, which is covered in this amazing, strong curry sauce. This MUST be eaten with rice because it elevates each other so well, and without rice, it was rather salty. Still, the chicken is easy to split apart and eaten with rice each bite. 1. My most favorite dish of all: Lychee Roast Duck Curry. Strange bedfellows somehow made one of the most perfect Thai curry dishes I have ever eaten. The sauce itself is perfect: savory, duck-flavored soup that can be eaten by itself or sauced on rice. The duck used is very close to Cantonese-style Roast Duck, so the skin has some crunch to it if you get a piece quick enough. And the best of all, the lychee has this explosion of sweetness that dances with the savory curry soup. Clashing, yet harmonic. Quite a new, indescribable experience I have ever come across in a curry dish, that it feels refreshing each bite. I could this alone, if I could. Overall, very nice staff with amazing food. 4.5 stars.
We had a delicious dinner at Baan Thai! On short notice they accommodated our party of 6, including a toddler. A booth was ready for us with a booster seat for my granddaughter. Our server was very helpful, answering all our questions and making suggestions, all of which were delicious! The food arrived steaming hot, attractively presented and very flavorful. The fresh coconuts were a special treat for the two young ones in our party. The photo is of a dish called Warrior that was truly exceptional.
We went hiking in cataract falls and came to Baan Thai Cuisine very hungry. Although it was expensive, the food was delicious and beautiful. The service was quick and very pleasant. I’d certainly come back again!
We were on our way to a different restaurant when we passed and quickly googled this place. We decided to give it a try and were not disappointed. Attentive and kind service, excellent food, very big portions and super fresh.
Great food! Refreshing Coconut water straight out of a coconut! Highly recommend this place if looking for Thai food in Marin county. Reservations are recommended too since this place gets very busy.
Always a pleasure to have lunch at Baan Thai. Highly recommend their spicy basil fried rice with chicken.
Decent Thai food. Would recommend this place if stopping by the area and in the mood for Asian food. Pretty large quantity for an okay price. Flavors were average though. My noodles weren’t evenly coated with sauce which was a small miss. Bonus points for being friendly and being able to accommodate a large takeout order really quick late in the afternoon.
Highly recommend both the Thai sausage and papaya salad. Delicious and authentic! Just like in thailand

This is the happiest I’ve ever seen my husband eat (and he LOVES to eat!). Every detail of every dish is so thoughtful, fresh, and yummy! He craves and savors each thing. On top of that, the staff are so thoughtful and friendly. I’m pregnant and the owner signaled to ask if I was comfy. They kept giving us updates about the wait time and made sure to get our food out in a timely manner. We love coming back to Baan Thai!! Great atmosphere as well.
Delicious!!! They have a few really great vegan/gf options. Tom Kha, curries, fried rice. No vegan noodle dishes sadly, at least none were marked. The other items were clearly labeled which is always so nice. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, as is the food. Wish I’d remembered to take pics. Service also great. We will be back!
Came here on Saturday lunchtime, made reservation with Google assistant. it’s kind of cool. The restaurant is very clean and beautiful. And all people working there are very friendly. Ordered a shao mai, Fried veggie spring rolls, noodle, and seafood combinations stew. Everything looks beautiful and came with fresh flowers. But it felt like they all need a little bit more taste.

So the atmosphere is great But the food ok I had chicken with rice the chicken was cold Tamarind chicken Felt like it was marinated in maple syrup The silverware was dated. I asked had To ask for chopsticks three times Not for me would not go back OK
The staff was very friendly and patient. Food quality was nice - my noodle portion is a bit small considering the price is a bit high. But the amount of Rice dishes are quite generous.

Nice location and friendly staff. The food is just ok. Some dishes were good and others lacked any flavor. So it’s hit and miss here. Curries have nice flavor but the vegan fried rice had none. They should have some type of sauce or flavor on it. Anything at all to make it taste like something. Chicken was on the dry side too. Things that could certainly be improved upon without much effort.

Hi, I just got the medium spicy red Thai curry. It is so spicy I can’t eat it. What they brought me was supposed to be a medium but it tastes extremely spicy. They don’t offer a mild version. I got my food through uber eats so I can’t take it back and have them make it less spicy. They might do well on other dishes and the atmosphere in the restaurant looks nice from the pictures but if you’re sensitive to spice don’t get the red curry. My mouth is on fire.
