We’ve been going here for years! This place always has fresh hot food. Family owned and operated and they’re always happy and welcoming. This evening we had Hot and sour soup and the combination fried rice along with a couple HUGE egg rolls and some Crab Rangoon. Go see Sunshine she is always a delight and hilarious!
Stumbled across this place while running errands. We found out it has been here for 40 years. The Happy Family Plate was fresh and piping hot. They have daily lunch specials and a cute corner in their place that sells good like dishes, health and beauty products, and clothing. This is still my f a v o r i t e place to eat.
From friendly service to excellent portions and taste of the food - we had a great experience here. We asked for everything to be spicy, and it was the perfect amount of flavor and spice in each dish. We had the lunch specials, which came with Hot & Sour Soup - definitely worth the visit!
What can i say?? The food was WONDERFUL, service was quick and friendly, and price is very reasonable! I was checked on several times by multiple people which made me feel cared for. I even got an extra entree for my lunch the next day! If youre a snob, you'd say the atmosphere is "low", but if that's you, go eat your high-dollar beef at some snoody place with your pinky up, trash. The atmosphere is very home-y, which was very appreciated being on business away from my home! Gave 5-Star because 6-Star wasn't avaliable!
La Chinitas is a family owned restaurant. The family not only owns the restaurant but operates it as well. The owner can be found running the register, taking orders to the kitchen, and waiting the tables almost every day of the week. The food is excellent, and super fast, your average time from order to table is minutes, even during the lunch rush. La Chinitas has been around for decades, and a neighborhood establishment. You see a lot of the same people each time you visit once you start eating there regularly. Daily specials are offered. My favorite is the Thursday Mongolian beef. The Chinese dishes are prepared to order. You can tell the vegetables are crisp and fresh when the orders come out Especially on dishes like the beef and broccoli. Lunch specials are served with fried rice, soup and a rangoon. Another recommendation are the egg rolls. They are fat, crispy thin crusted rolls, with ground beef and fresh cabbage inside. Some of the better egg rolls I've had anywhere. What makes La Chinitas unique is not only the personal attention by the family who owns it, and the quality of the food, but the fact that they have a split menu. You probably saw the name and though thats a weird name, its Chinese but also Spanish.. That because they offer both traditional and American Chinese, as well as Mexican food. One side of the menu has enchiladas, & spanish rice. The other side has sweet and sour chicken, beef and broccoli and fried rice. I prefer the Chinese menu over the Mexican, but know many a local order from both menus alternating visit to visit. I've tried items from both menus and can say that the Mexican food is pretty good as well. The family who owns the establishment is very friendly and takes the time to chat and great the customers, especially the regulars. So make sure to say Hi to the guy or lady at the register.
We always judge a Chinese restaurant based on their egg foo young and this place did not disappoint, in fact it was some of the best we've had. We got the house special with chicken, beef and shrimp and they put real, good sized shrimp in it and the edges were perfect. We also got the beef and vegetables and fried rice. Everything was delicious, the rice was fluffy and not too greasy and the crab ragoon were delicious. The service was great too and syper friendly.
Loved it. First time. The greeting lady was a bit lackluster, but the younger gentleman waking around filling drinks was awesome and sweet. Their food did not disappoint. The hot oil on the table was not covid friendly, and the peppers were burnt... that's gotta change. I was recommended to try them by several coworkers. Will definitely return. One downer: There were 2 families with never ending screaming kids, one little girl threw her plate across the restaurant... that was disturbing, she was 2.. Don't take your kids out and ruin other paying customers quiet relaxation time for their much needed lunch breaks. They even have chocolate and candies and other oddities for sale at the register.. that was cool.
Me and my entire family truly truly miss this place, 1 it was memorable food 2 the people were like our family. I can’t believe I can’t go there anymore. It’s truly sad. I miss them so much. May God bless them forever. You are severely missed.
## La Chinita: A Delicious Fusion of Flavors on the Westside La Chinita, a hidden gem on the westside of San Antonio, is a true testament to the beauty of culinary fusion. Whether you crave authentic Mexican comfort food or crave some delicious Chinese dishes, La Chinita has something for everyone. This is a place you'll want to visit again and again.
It has been some time since I visited La Chinita and it was just as good as I remembered it to be. I had the Kung Pao chicken with fried rice. It was amazing. The workers were so nice and everyone had a great vibe. I will totally be coming back soon. I also included pictures of the lemon chicken that I had on another visit. Update: I also went on a Friday and the special was Kung pao beef. It was Aaaaaamazing. I love this place ! The staff is really cool. The two cousins are awesome.
Two lunch specials, Lemon chicken. Didn't think it would be so much food. Egg rolls were huge but I've had better. These had a bit too much cabbage for me. The egg drop soup was delicious. The rice was delicious. The Lemon chicken was delicious. Just be mindful of where sit. The vents blew on us and made it a bit uncomfortable.
Came here because of suggestion from other people. When we got here were were thinking about leaving. Doesn't look like your regular restaurant. Decided to order some things. Veg soup, Veg fried rice, tofu veg mix, and veg lo mein. That's for the vegetarian's that I was with. I ordered 2 beef enchiladas and one egg roll with kung pow chicken. All the veg food tasted great. My enchiladas were good. The egg roll was a little over done but also had some fishy taste to it like it was fried in the same fish oil. The Kung pow was good but some peices of chicken had an off taste. Overall a good stop. Had water, and it also had an off taste. I only had a few sips my entire stay there.
Very soggy sesame and lemon chicken, the meat kept slipping out of the breading. Garlic chicken has a bad smell with light and dark pieces of chicken and all plates had chunky rice with hard bits throughout. Panda Express has better quality for half price. Called and explained issue and only offered to replace 1 of the 3 plates. I won’t be back.
I ordered sweet & sour chicken. I've never had that dish made with thighs and chicken skin before and don't want it again. I chose it because it's usually a safe dish at a Chinese restaurant where I've never eaten before. It's always been made from chicken breast when I've had it before. I fed it to the dogs. They loved it. My husband got the egg foo young. He was not impressed. He said it was okay and he wouldn't eat there again.
